IGCSE: Art and Design
The Cambridge IGCSE Art and Design course invites a personal creative journey by awakening imagination, sensitivity, conceptual thinking, observation and analytical skills. As students build technical ability in two- and three-dimensional form and composition, they grow in confidence and enthusiasm, learning to recognise and resolve visual and tactile challenges. Ideas evolve from early explorations into finished outcomes. This subject provides a strong foundation for further study and deepens awareness of the role the visual arts play in society and history, enriching cultural perspectives and individual experience.
A & AS Level: Art and Design
The Cambridge International A Level Art and Design centres on expression and communication. Students engage with visual perception and aesthetic experience, discovering how art and design forge a distinctive language. Much of the work is practical and studio-based, allowing learners to sharpen their observation, analytical skill, sensitivity, technical fluency, personal voice and imagination. They also connect their creative practice to an informed understanding of their own cultural heritage — past and present — while gaining an appreciation of real-world design problems.
