IGCSE A & AS Level: 中文 Chinese

IGCSE: Chinese – First Language

Created for native speakers, the Cambridge IGCSE First Language Chinese course sharpens students’ ability to express themselves with clarity, precision, and impact. It builds a wide-ranging vocabulary, refines grammar, spelling and punctuation, and nurtures a distinct personal voice while honing sensitivity to different audiences. Reading widely is encouraged, both for pleasure and to deepen an understanding of how writers craft their effects. The skills developed here also support learning across other subjects, making them broadly applicable.

IGCSE: Chinese (Mandarin) – Foreign Language

The Cambridge IGCSE Foreign Language Chinese course is aimed at learners studying Mandarin as a new language. Its focus is practical communication, developing competent use of the language through linked skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing. As students advance, these abilities grow in a structured, supportive way. The programme also opens a window onto the cultures and societies of Mandarin-speaking communities, fostering positive attitudes toward language learning and respect for speakers of other languages.

A & AS Level: Chinese

Building on the foundations of IGCSE, O Level, or AS Level, Cambridge International A Level Chinese equips learners for university-level study and enhances career opportunities. Students master the language across a wide range of contexts, learning to handle texts and source materials with confidence—extracting, evaluating and responding to information purposefully. The course pushes for greater fluency, accuracy and a sure command of expression, while also teaching translation from English into Chinese.

A & AS Level: Chinese – Language (AS Level Only)

The Cambridge International AS Level Chinese programme targets stronger fluency, precision and confidence in written Chinese, alongside improved overall communication skills. It immerses students in real-world language use, developing the ability to interpret texts and other sources, pull out key details, and construct well-organised written responses to a variety of prompts.
