1. Motion and Forces | 运动与力
In CCEA Physics, motion is described by speed, velocity and acceleration. Speed is a scalar quantity; velocity is a vector. The average speed of an object can be calculated as total distance divided by time.
v = d / t

Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity. If an object accelerates uniformly from initial velocity u to final velocity v in time t, the acceleration is given by:

Newton’s Second Law states that the resultant force acting on an object is equal to its mass multiplied by its acceleration.

A moment is the turning effect of a force. It depends on the size of the force and the perpendicular distance from the pivot.

Momentum p is the product of mass and velocity. The rate of change of momentum is equal to the resultant force.

Safety features such as seat belts, air bags and crumple zones reduce the force on passengers during a collision by increasing the time over which the change in momentum occurs.
- Seat belts stretch slightly, extending stopping time.
- Air bags provide a cushion, increasing the time for the head to stop.
- Crumple zones deform progressively, increasing the time over which the car stops.
