1. Personal Pronouns | 人称代词

Pronouns replace nouns and are essential building blocks. Memorise them in the three main cases you will encounter in Year 7: nominative (subject), accusative (direct object), and dative (indirect object).

代词替代名词,是基础构件。请熟记 Year 7 会涉及的三个格:主格(主语)、宾格(直接宾语)和与格(间接宾语)。

Formula: ich → du → er/sie/es → wir → ihr → sie/Sie

公式: 我 → 你 → 他/她/它 → 我们 → 你们 → 他们/您(您们)

Person Nominative (Subject) Accusative (Direct Obj.) Dative (Indirect Obj.)
1st sing. ich (I) mich (me) mir (to me)
2nd sing. du (you, informal) dich (you) dir (to you)
3rd sing. er/sie/es (he/she/it) ihn/sie/es (him/her/it) ihm/ihr/ihm (to him/her/it)
1st plur. wir (we) uns (us) uns (to us)
2nd plur. ihr (you all, informal) euch (you all) euch (to you all)
3rd plur. / formal sie / Sie (they / you formal) sie / Sie (them / you formal) ihnen / Ihnen (to them / to you formal)

2. Definite Articles (the) – Nominative & Accusative | 定冠词(the)– 主格和宾格

Nouns in German have three genders: masculine, feminine, and neuter. The definite article changes according to the case of the noun. In Year 7, focus on nominative (subject) and accusative (direct object).

德语名词有三种词性:阳性、阴性和中性。定冠词根据名词的格而变化。Year 7 主要关注主格(主语)和宾格(直接宾语)。

Formula: der (masc.) / die (fem.) / das (neut.) / die (plur.) → in accusative masculine becomes den

公式: der(阳)/ die(阴)/ das(中)/ die(复)→ 在宾格阳性变为 den

Gender Nominative Accusative
Masculine der den
Feminine die die
Neuter das das
Plural die die

Example: Der Hund beißt den Mann. (The dog bites the man.) Notice how ‘the dog’ is masculine nominative (der) and ‘the man’ is masculine accusative (den).

例子:Der Hund beißt den Mann.(狗咬那个男人。)注意“狗”是阳性主格(der),而“男人”是阳性宾格(den)。

3. Indefinite Articles (a/an) – Nominative & Accusative | 不定冠词(一个)– 主格和宾格

The indefinite article works in a similar pattern. ‘a’ or ‘an’ in English corresponds to ein (masculine/neuter) or eine (feminine). The masculine accusative form changes to einen.

不定冠词遵循类似规律。英语中的 ‘a’ 或 ‘an’ 对应 ein(阳性/中性)或 eine(阴性)。阳性宾格变为 einen。

Formula: ein (m./n.) / eine (f.) → accusative masculine einen

公式: ein(阳/中)/ eine(阴)→ 宾格阳性 einen

Gender Nominative Accusative
Masculine ein einen
Feminine eine eine
Neuter ein ein

Example: Ich habe einen Bruder. (I have a brother.) ‘Bruder’ is masculine accusative, so ein becomes einen.

例子:Ich habe einen Bruder.(我有一个兄弟。)“Bruder”是阳性宾格,所以 ein 变成 einen。

4. Present Tense Regular Verb Conjugation | 现在时规则动词变位

Most German verbs are regular. To conjugate, remove the -en ending from the infinitive to find the stem, then add the correct personal endings.

大多数德语动词是规则的。变位时,去掉不定式的 -en 词尾得到词干,然后加上正确的人称词尾。

Formula: stem + e, st, t, en, t, en

公式: 词干 + e, st, t, en, t, en

Example with spielen (to play): stem = spiel-

以 spielen(玩耍)为例:词干 = spiel-

  • ich spiele (I play) | 我玩
  • du spielst (you play, informal) | 你玩
  • er/sie/es spielt (he/she/it plays) | 他/她/它玩
  • wir spielen (we play) | 我们玩
  • ihr spielt (you all play) | 你们玩
  • sie/Sie spielen (they/you formal play) | 他们/您(们)玩

5. The Verb sein (to be) | 动词 sein(是)

The verb ‘sein’ is irregular and extremely common. You must learn its forms by heart as it does not follow the regular pattern.

动词 sein 是不规则动词且极其常用。你必须熟记它的各种形式,因为它不遵循规则模式。

Formula: No simple stem — just memorise the following:

公式: 无简单词干——只需记住以下形式:

  • ich bin (I am) | 我是
  • du bist (you are) | 你是
  • er/sie/es ist (he/she/it is) | 他/她/它是
  • wir sind (we are) | 我们是
  • ihr seid (you all are) | 你们是
  • sie/Sie sind (they/you formal are) | 他们/您是

6. The Verb haben (to have) | 动词 haben(有)

‘Haben’ is another high-frequency irregular verb. Note the stem change from ‘hab-‘ to ‘ha-‘ in the du and er/sie/es forms.

haben 是另一个高频不规则动词。注意在 du 和 er/sie/es 形式中词干从 hab- 变为 ha-。

Formula: ich habe, du hast, er/sie/es hat, wir haben, ihr habt, sie/Sie haben

公式: ich habe, du hast, er/sie/es hat, wir haben, ihr habt, sie/Sie haben

  • ich habe (I have) | 我有
  • du hast (you have) | 你有
  • er/sie/es hat (he/she/it has) | 他/她/它有
  • wir haben (we have) | 我们有
  • ihr habt (you all have) | 你们有
  • sie/Sie haben (they/you formal have) | 他们/您有

7. Basic Sentence Structure – Verb Second Rule | 基本句子结构 – 动词第二位规则

In a simple German main clause, the conjugated verb must be the second element. The first element can be the subject, an adverb, or a time phrase.

在简单的德语主句中,变位动词必须是第二个成分。第一个成分可以是主语、副词或时间短语。

Formula: [Element 1] + [Verb 2] + [Rest of sentence]

公式: [成分1] + [动词2] + [句子其余部分]

Examples:

例子:

  • Ich spiele heute Fußball. (I play football today.) | 我今天踢足球。
  • Heute spiele ich Fußball. (Today I play football.) | 今天我踢足球。— Notice verb stays in second position.

8. Forming Questions | 构成问句

Yes/no questions simply place the verb first, followed by the subject. For information questions, a question word (W-word) comes first, then the verb.

一般疑问句只需将动词放在第一位,后跟主语。特殊疑问句则将疑问词(W 词)放在第一位,然后是动词。

Formula yes/no: Verb + Subject + …?
Formula W-question: Question word + Verb + Subject + …?

一般疑问句公式: 动词 + 主语 + …?
特殊疑问句公式: 疑问词 + 动词 + 主语 + …?

Common question words: wer (who), was (what), wo (where), wann (when), warum (why), wie (how).

常用疑问词:wer(谁)、was(什么)、wo(哪里)、wann(何时)、warum(为什么)、wie(如何)。

Example: Spielst du Tennis? (Do you play tennis?) → Was spielst du? (What do you play?)

例子:Spielst du Tennis?(你打网球吗?)→ Was spielst du?(你玩什么?)

9. Plurals of Nouns | 名词的复数

German plurals are not as predictable as English ‘-s’. There are several patterns. Below are the most common Year 7 endings, but always learn the plural with the noun.

德语复数不像英语加 ‘-s’ 那样有规律。有多种模式。以下是 Year 7 最常见的词尾,但请务必同时记住名词及其复数。

Formula patterns: 1) +e (+ umlaut) 2) +er (+ umlaut) 3) +n/en 4) +s 5) no change (+ umlaut)

公式模式: 1) +e(+ 变音) 2) +er(+ 变音) 3) +n/en 4) +s 5) 无变化(+ 变音)

  • der Hund → die Hunde (dog) | 狗 → 狗(复数)
  • der Mann → die Männer (man) | 男人 → 男人(复数)
  • das Kind → die Kinder (child) | 孩子 → 孩子们
  • die Frau → die Frauen (woman) | 女人 → 女人们
  • das Auto → die Autos (car) | 汽车 → 汽车们
  • der Lehrer → die Lehrer (teacher, no change) | 老师 → 老师们

10. Useful Prepositions with Accusative/Dative | 常用介词及宾格/与格

Some prepositions always take the accusative case, others always the dative. Year 7 students should know a core set of each.

有些介词后永远接宾格,有些永远接与格。Year 7 学生应掌握每类的一组核心介词。

Accusative prepositions (always accusative): durch (through), für (for), gegen (against), ohne (without), um (around/at). Memorise the acronym FUDGO (Für, Um, Durch, Gegen, Ohne).

宾格介词(永远接宾格): durch(穿过)、für(为了)、gegen(反对)、ohne(没有)、um(围绕/在…时间)。记忆口诀:FUDGO。

Dative prepositions (always dative): aus (from/out of), bei (at/near), mit (with), nach (after/to), seit (since/for), von (from/of), zu (to).

与格介词(永远接与格): aus(来自)、bei(在…附近/在…处)、mit(和)、nach(在…之后/往)、seit(自从)、von(…的/来自)、zu(去/到)。

Example: Ich gehe mit dem Hund. (I walk with the dog.) ‘Mit’ forces dative: der Hund → dem Hund.

例子:Ich gehe mit dem Hund.(我和狗散步。)mit 要求与格:der Hund → dem Hund。

11. Expressing Likes and Dislikes – gern/nicht gern | 表达喜欢和不喜欢 – gern/nicht gern

To say you like doing something, place ‘gern’ after the verb. To dislike, use ‘nicht gern’. The verb stays in second position.

要表达喜欢做某事,将 gern 放在动词之后。不喜欢则用 nicht gern。动词仍保持在第二位。

Formula: Subject + Verb + gern(+ Object).
Negative: Subject + Verb + nicht gern(+ Object).

公式: 主语 + 动词 + gern(+ 宾语)。
否定: 主语 + 动词 + nicht gern(+ 宾语)。

Examples: Ich spiele gern Klavier. (I like playing the piano.) | Ich spiele nicht gern Fußball. (I don’t like playing football.)

例子:Ich spiele gern Klavier.(我喜欢弹钢琴。)| Ich spiele nicht gern Fußball.(我不喜欢踢足球。)

12. Word Order: Time, Manner, Place | 语序:时间,方式,地点

When adding details to a sentence, the typical German order is Time (when), Manner (how), Place (where) — TMP. This rule keeps your sentences sounding natural.

当在句子中添加细节时,典型的德语语序是时间(何时)、方式(如何)、地点(何处)—— TMP。这条规则让你的句子听起来自然地道。

Formula: Subject + Verb + (Time + Manner + Place)

公式: 主语 + 动词 +(时间 + 方式 + 地点)

Example: Ich gehe (morgen) (mit dem Bus) (zur Schule). = Tomorrow I go by bus to school. Notice time ‘morgen’, manner ‘mit dem Bus’, place ‘zur Schule’.

例子:Ich gehe morgen mit dem Bus zur Schule.(我明天乘公共汽车去学校。)注意时间 morgen、方式 mit dem Bus、地点 zur Schule 的顺序。
