1. Stage Configurations & Positions | 舞台布局与方位

Proscenium Arch: The architectural frame that separates the stage from the auditorium, creating a “picture-frame” effect. The audience sits on one side facing the stage directly, observing the action through an invisible “fourth wall”.

镜框式舞台:将舞台与观众席分隔开的建筑框架,形成一种“画框”效果。观众坐在舞台正对面,透过一堵无形的“第四面墙”观看演出。

Thrust Stage: A stage that extends into the auditorium so that the audience is seated on three sides. This arrangement allows for more intimate actor-audience interaction and often requires actors to turn to engage all viewers.

伸出式舞台:舞台延伸至观众席中,观众坐在三面观看。这种布局能带来更亲密的演员与观众互动,演员常常需要转身照顾到三个方向的观众。

In-the-round (Arena): A stage completely surrounded by the audience on all sides. Entrances and exits must pass through audience gangways, and set pieces cannot block sightlines.

环形舞台(圆形剧场):舞台完全被观众四面环绕。上下场通道必须经过观众席走道,布景不能遮挡任何角度的视线。

Traverse Stage: A long central acting area with audiences seated on two opposite sides, much like a fashion runway. This format can make scenes feel confrontational or ceremonial.

穿行式舞台:一条长长的中央表演区,观众分坐两侧,类似时装秀T台。这种形式能让场景产生对峙感或仪式感。

Upstage: The area of the stage furthest from the audience. Historically stages were raked (slanted upwards away from the audience), so moving away was literally moving up.

后舞台:舞台离观众最远的区域。历史上舞台是倾斜的(远离观众方向向上倾斜),因此往后走就是在“向上走”。

Downstage: The area closest to the audience. On a raked stage it was the lowest point, hence “down”. It carries the most visual weight and is often used for intimate moments.

前舞台:最靠近观众的区域。在倾斜舞台上这是最低点,因此叫“down”。前舞台视觉分量最重,常用于亲密时刻。

Stage Left / Stage Right: Directions given from the performer’s perspective while facing the audience. Stage left is the actor’s left-hand side; stage right is the actor’s right-hand side.

舞台左侧 / 右侧:以演员面向观众时的方位为准。舞台左侧是演员自身的左手边,舞台右侧是演员自身的右手边。

Centre Stage: The middle area of the acting space, often used for moments of high importance or focus.

中心舞台:表演空间的正中央区域,常用于最高潮或最需聚焦的时刻。

Memory tip: Think “down” = near, “up” = far; stage left/right always from the actor’s viewpoint, not yours. Imagine a big red arrow painted on the floor pointing towards the audience — that arrow points downstage.

记忆贴士: 想一下 “down” 是靠近观众,“up” 是远离观众;舞台左右永远是从演员角度出发的。想象地板上画着一个指向观众的大红箭头,那个箭头就指向前舞台。

2. Vocal Skills | 声音技巧

Pitch: How high or low the voice sounds. A higher pitch can suggest youth, panic, or excitement; a lower pitch often conveys authority or menace.

音高:声音听起来的高或低。较高音高可以暗示年轻、慌乱或兴奋;较低音高则常传递权威或威胁。

Pace: The speed at which lines are delivered. Rapid pace can show urgency, nervousness or excitement; a slow pace might indicate thoughtfulness, sadness or importance.

语速:台词表达的快慢。快语速能表现急迫、紧张或激动;慢语速可能暗示沉思、悲伤或严肃。

Volume: Loudness or softness of the voice. A sudden drop can create intimacy; a shout can startle the audience or illustrate anger.

音量:声音的响度或轻柔。声音突然变轻能营造亲密感;一声大喊能惊吓观众或表现愤怒。

Tone: The emotional quality carried in the voice. The same line spoken with a warm tone or a sarcastic tone can completely change the meaning.

语气:声音所承载的情感色彩。同一句台词用温暖语气或讽刺语气说出来,意思全然不同。

Projection: The ability to fill the performance space with the voice without shouting. It relies on breath support and clear articulation so that every audience member hears clearly.

声音投射:不用喊叫而能将声音传遍整个表演空间的能力。依靠气息支撑和清晰吐字,确保每一位观众都能听清。

Articulation: The crispness and clarity with which you pronounce consonant sounds and words. Good articulation prevents dialogue from becoming muddy.

吐字清晰度:发辅音和词语时的清脆与清晰程度。良好的吐字可以避免台词变得含混不清。

Accent: A distinctive way of pronouncing words associated with a particular region or social group. Used to establish character background.

口音:与特定地域或社会群体相关联的独特发音方式,用于确立角色背景。

Pause: A deliberate break in speaking. Pauses can create tension, indicate thought processes or give the audience time to react.

停顿:说话中有意的中断。停顿可以制造紧张感、暗示思考过程或给观众反应的时间。

3. Physical Skills | 形体技巧

Gesture: A movement of part of the body, especially the hands or arms, to express an idea or meaning. A thumbs-up, a wave or a clenched fist all communicate instantly.

Facial Expression: Use of the eyebrows, eyes, mouth and overall facial muscles to reveal emotion. Even a slight narrowing of the eyes can alter the scene’s meaning entirely.

面部表情:运用眉毛、眼睛、嘴巴和整个面部肌肉来揭示情绪。即便是轻微眯眼也能完全改变场景的含义。

Body Language: The non-verbal signals communicated through posture, movement, and the position of the body in space. Crossed arms can signal defensiveness; open palms suggest honesty.

肢体语言:通过体态、动作以及身体在空间中的位置所传达的非语言信号。双臂交叉可能表示防御,摊开手掌则暗示坦诚。

Mime: Stylised movement that tells a story or depicts an object without words. Precise, exaggerated gestures replace speech entirely.

默剧动作:无需语言而用风格化的动作讲故事或描绘物体的方式。精确而夸张的手势完全替代了说话。

Gait: A character’s distinctive manner of walking. A shuffle, a strut or a limp instantly conjures age, attitude or physical condition.

步态:角色独特的走路方式。拖着脚走、趾高气扬地走或一瘸一拐,都能瞬间塑造出年龄、态度或身体状况。

Proxemics: The use of space between performers. Close proximity can mean intimacy or threat; distance can suggest alienation or formality. Think of an invisible bubble around each character.

空间关系学:表演者之间空间距离的运用。距离近可能意味着亲密或威胁;距离远可能暗示疏离或正式。想象每个角色周围都有一个看不见的气泡。

Eye Contact (or Gaze): Where a performer directs their eyes. Sustained eye contact can be confrontational; avoiding it can show guilt or fear. In drama, eye contact can be with other characters or with the audience.

眼神接触(或凝视):表演者将目光投向何处。持续的眼神接触可能有对抗性;回避目光则可能表现内疚或恐惧。戏剧中眼神接触可以是角色之间,也可以面向观众。

潜台词:台词之下隐藏的含义。角色说的话可能彬彬有礼,但通过语气和肢体语言透露的潜台词却可能是嫉妒或愤怒。

Hot-seating: A rehearsal technique where a performer sits in character and answers questions from the director or fellow actors to deepen understanding of the role.

坐针毡(即兴盘问):一种排练技巧,演员以角色的身份坐在椅子上,回答导演或其他演员提出的问题,以加深对角色的理解。

Role on the Wall: An outline of a figure drawn on paper. Notes are written inside the outline about the character’s inner thoughts and feelings, and outside about what others perceive.
