1. Noun Gender & Case Declension Formulas | 名词性别与格变化公式

Every German noun carries a gender (masculine, feminine, neuter) that dictates the form of accompanying articles and adjectives. The case (nominative, accusative, dative, genitive) signals the noun’s function in the sentence. The formula for the definite article in each case serves as the backbone:

每个德语名词都具有性别(阳性、阴性、中性),它决定了冠词和形容词的形式。格(第一格、第四格、第三格、第二格)则表明名词在句中的功能。定冠词在各格的公式是核心骨架:

  • Masculine: der (Nom) → den (Akk) → dem (Dat) → des (Gen)
  • Feminine: die (Nom) → die (Akk) → der (Dat) → der (Gen)
  • Neuter: das (Nom) → das (Akk) → dem (Dat) → des (Gen)
  • Plural: die (Nom) → die (Akk) → den (Dat) → der (Gen)

When forming the genitive, masculine and neuter nouns usually add -s or -es: der Hut → des Hutes (the hat’s). Feminine and plural nouns remain unchanged: die Frau → der Frau, die Leute → der Leute. This pattern holds for indefinite articles (ein, eine, einen, einem, eines) and possessive adjectives (mein, dein, sein, etc.), which follow the same case-endings.

构成第二格时,阳性和中性名词通常加 -s-es:der Hut → des Hutes。阴性和复数名词保持不变:die Frau → der Frau, die Leute → der Leute。这一规律同样适用于不定冠词(ein, eine, einen, einem, eines)和物主形容词(mein, dein, sein 等),它们采用相同的格词尾。

2. Adjective Ending Formulas | 形容词词尾变化公式

Adjective endings depend on three factors: gender, case, and the type of preceding determiner (definite article, indefinite article, or no article). A useful summary formula for the definite-article scenario (weak declension) is:

形容词词尾取决于三个因素:性别、格以及前置限定词的类型(定冠词、不定冠词或无冠词)。对于定冠词后的弱变化,一个有用的公式是:

  • Nominative: -e (all genders)
  • Accusative: -e (f, n); -en (m)
  • Dative: -en (all genders)
  • Genitive: -en (all genders)

Remember the mnemonic: ‘der’ words give weak endings – mostly -e or -en. For example, der rote Apfel, den roten Apfel, dem roten Apfel, des roten Apfels.

记住这个口诀:“der”类词引出弱变化词尾——大多是 -e-en。例如 der rote Apfel, den roten Apfel, dem roten Apfel, des roten Apfels。

With indefinite articles, the strong endings appear where the article itself carries no clear case indicator (nominative m/n, accusative n): ein roter Apfel, ein rotes Auto. Elsewhere, weak endings apply: einen roten Apfel, einem roten Kind. When there is no determiner at all, the adjective takes the strong ending that would have been on the definite article: roter Wein, frische Milch, kaltes Wasser.

使用不定冠词时,若冠词本身缺乏明确的格标志(第一格阳性/中性、第四格中性),则形容词需用强变化词尾:ein roter Apfel, ein rotes Auto。其他情况用弱变化:einen roten Apfel, einem roten Kind。当完全没有限定词时,形容词采用原本该属于定冠词的强变化词尾:roter Wein, frische Milch, kaltes Wasser。

3. Present Tense Conjugation Formula | 现在时动词变位公式

For regular (weak) verbs, the present tense is built by taking the stem (infinitive minus -en) and adding these endings:

对于规则(弱变化)动词,现在时通过词干(不定式去掉 -en)加上以下词尾构成:

ich -e
du -st
er/sie/es -t
wir -en
ihr -t
sie/Sie -en

Example: spielen → ich spiele, du spielst, er spielt, wir spielen, ihr spielt, sie spielen.

举例:spielen → ich spiele, du spielst, er spielt, wir spielen, ihr spielt, sie spielen。

Strong verbs often show a vowel change in the 2nd and 3rd person singular. Common patterns: e → i (geben → du gibst, er gibt) or e → ie (sehen → du siehst, er sieht); a → ä (fahren → du fährst, er fährt). These irregularities must be memorised, but they follow consistent groups. Treat them as sub-formulas within the main conjugation framework.

强变化动词在第二和第三人称单数时常发生元音变化。常见规律:e → i(geben → du gibst, er gibt)或 e → ie(sehen → du siehst, er sieht);a → ä(fahren → du fährst, er fährt)。这些变化需单独记忆,但它们遵循一致的组别。可将其视为主变位框架内的子公式。

4. Perfect Tense Formation Formula | 完成时构成公式

The spoken past (Perfekt) is formed with an auxiliary verb (haben or sein) in the present tense plus the past participle (Partizip II). The choice of auxiliary follows clear rules:

口语过去时(完成时)由助动词 haben 或 sein 的现在时 + 过去分词(Partizip II)构成。助动词的选择遵循明确规则:

Perfekt = haben/sein (conjugated) + Partizip II

Sein is used with verbs indicating movement from A to B (fahren, gehen, fliegen, kommen) and change of state (aufwachen, sterben, werden). All other verbs typically take haben. The past participle formula for regular verbs: ge + stem + t (fragen → gefragt, machen → gemacht). For irregular verbs: ge + (changed stem) + en (sehen → gesehen, schreiben → geschrieben). Separable prefixes insert -ge- between prefix and stem: aufmachen → aufgemacht. Inseparable prefixes (be-, emp-, ent-, er-, ge-, miss-, ver-, zer-) omit the ge- entirely: besuchen → besucht, verstehen → verstanden.

Sein 用于表示从 A 到 B 的位移(fahren, gehen, fliegen, kommen)和状态变化(aufwachen, sterben, werden)。其他动词通常用 haben。规则动词的过去分词公式:ge + 词干 + t(fragen → gefragt, machen → gemacht)。不规则动词:ge +(变化词干)+ en(sehen → gesehen, schreiben → geschrieben)。可分前缀将 -ge- 插入前缀和词干之间:aufmachen → aufgemacht。不可分前缀(be-, emp-, ent-, er-, ge-, miss-, ver-, zer-)则完全省略 ge-:besuchen → besucht, verstehen → verstanden。

5. Modal Verb Structure & Double Infinitive | 情态动词结构与双不定式公式

Modal verbs (dürfen, können, mögen, müssen, sollen, wollen) modify a main verb, which appears in the infinitive at the end of the clause. The formula in a main clause is:

情态动词(dürfen, können, mögen, müssen, sollen, wollen)修饰主要动词,后者以不定式形式置于句末。主句中的公式为:

Subject + modal verb (conjugated) + … + infinitive verb.

Example: Ich muss morgen zur Schule gehen. (I must go to school tomorrow.) Note the modal verb takes second position, while the infinitive goes to the end. When using the Perfekt with a modal verb, we use the double infinitive construction:

例句:Ich muss morgen zur Schule gehen. 情态动词在第二位,不定式在末尾。当情态动词用于完成时,我们使用双不定式结构:

haben + infinitive (main verb) + infinitive (modal verb)

Example: Ich habe den Film nicht sehen können. (I could not see the film.) In subordinate clauses, the finite (conjugated) verb goes to the very end, after the two infinitives: weil ich den Film nicht sehen können habe. This pattern is essential for Year 13 writing and oral exam precision.

例句:Ich habe den Film nicht sehen können. 在从句中,定式动词(变位动词)移到两个不定式之后:weil ich den Film nicht sehen können habe。掌握这一模式对 Year 13 写作和口语的准确性至关重要。

6. Subordinate Clause Word-Order Formula | 从句语序公式

German subordinate clauses (Nebensätze) push the conjugated verb to the very end. The classic formula is:

德语从句将定式动词推至句末。经典公式为:

Subordinating conjunction + subject + … + conjugated verb (final position).

Common subordinating conjunctions include: dass (that), weil (because), obwohl (although), wenn (if/when), damit (so that), als (when, past single event), sobald (as soon as). For example: Ich glaube, dass er heute kommen wird. (I believe that he will come today.) Note ‘wird’ moves to the end. Separable prefix verbs rejoin their prefix in the subordinate clause: Ich hoffe, dass er morgen mitkommt. (I hope he comes along tomorrow.)

常见从属连词包括:dass, weil, obwohl, wenn, damit, als, sobald。例如:Ich glaube, dass er heute kommen wird. 注意 wird 移至末尾。可分前缀动词在从句中重新合并前缀:Ich hoffe, dass er morgen mitkommt。

In multi-clause sentences, remember the inversion that occurs when a subordinate clause precedes the main clause: the main clause then starts with the verb. Formula: Subordinate clause (verb-last), Verb + Subject + … Example: Wenn er Zeit hat, fährt er nach Hause.

在多从句复合句中,当从句置于主句之前时,主句发生倒装:从句(动词在末),动词 + 主语 + … 例句:Wenn er Zeit hat, fährt er nach Hause。

7. Passive Voice Constructions | 被动语态结构公式

The passive voice shifts focus from the agent to the action itself. The Vorgangspassiv (process passive) uses werden + Partizip II. The formula in present tense:

被动语态将焦点从施事者转移到动作本身。过程被动(Vorgangspassiv)使用 werden + 过去分词。现在时公式:

Subject + werden (conjugated) + … + Partizip II.

Example: Der Brief wird geschrieben. (The letter is being written.) The agent can be added with ‘von’ + dative: Der Brief wird von dem Mann geschrieben. Past passive: Der Brief wurde geschrieben. Perfect passive: Der Brief ist geschrieben worden. (Note the use of ‘worden’ not ‘geworden’.) Future passive: Der Brief wird geschrieben werden.

例句:Der Brief wird geschrieben. 可通过“von + 第三格”添加施事者:Der Brief wird von dem Mann geschrieben. 过去时被动:Der Brief wurde geschrieben. 完成时被动:Der Brief ist geschrieben worden.(注意使用 ‘worden’ 而非 ‘geworden’。)将来时被动:Der Brief wird geschrieben werden。

Impersonal passive often uses ‘es’ as placeholder: Es wurde viel getanzt. (There was a lot of dancing.) With modal verbs, the passive formula combines both structures: Der Brief muss geschrieben werden. (The letter must be written.)

无人称被动常用“es”占位:Es wurde viel getanzt。与情态动词搭配时,被动公式将两者结合:Der Brief muss geschrieben werden。

8. Subjunctive II (Konjunktiv II) Formula | 第二虚拟式公式

Konjunktiv II expresses hypothetical situations, polite requests and wishes. For most verbs, it is formed by using the simple past stem and adding umlaut where possible, plus subjunctive endings (-e, -est, -e, -en, -et, -en):

第二虚拟式表达假设情况、礼貌请求和愿望。对于大多数动词,它由过去式词干加变音(如有可能)再加虚拟式词尾构成:

Example for haben: ich hätte, du hättest, er hätte, wir hätten, ihr hättet, sie hätten. For sein: ich wäre, du wär(e)st, er wäre, wir wären, ihr wärt, sie wären. Weak verbs often share the same form as the simple past, so the würde + infinitive construction is used instead: ich würde machen (I would do). This is the most versatile formula for Konjunktiv II:

haben 为例:ich hätte, du hättest, er hätte, wir hätten, ihr hättet, sie hätten。对于 sein:ich wäre, du wär(e)st, er wäre, wir wären, ihr wärt, sie wären。弱变化动词常与简单过去时形式相同,因此改用 würde + 不定式 结构:ich würde machen。这是最通用的第二虚拟式公式:

würde + infinitive

In conditional sentences, the subordinate clause normally uses wenn + Konj. II (verb-last), and the main clause uses Konj. II (verb-second): Wenn ich reich wäre, würde ich ein Haus kaufen. (If I were rich, I would buy a house.) For modal verbs the pure Konj. II forms are standard: könnte, müsste, dürfte, wollte, sollte, möchte. These are essential for expressing polite requests: Könnten Sie mir helfen? (Could you help me?)

在条件句中,从句通常使用 wenn + 第二虚拟式(动词末尾),主句使用第二虚拟式(动词二位):Wenn ich reich wäre, würde ich ein Haus kaufen。对于情态动词,纯虚拟形式为标准用法:könnte, müsste, dürfte, wollte, sollte, möchte。这对表达礼貌请求至关重要:Könnten Sie mir helfen?

9. Prepositions and Case Triggers | 介词与格触发公式

Prepositions in German are tied to specific cases. A clear memory formula divides them into three groups:

They take accusative when motion towards a destination (Wohin?), dative when indicating static location (Wo?).

Example: Ich gehe in die Stadt (accusative, direction) vs. Ich bin in der Stadt (dative, location). With two-way prepositions, the formula can be summarised as:

例句:Ich gehe in die Stadt(第四格,方向)对比 Ich bin in der Stadt(第三格,位置)。两用介词可以概括为公式:

Wohin? → Accusative | Wo? → Dative

Some verbs are used with fixed prepositions that dictate the case of the following noun. Familiar examples from the WJEC spec: sich interessieren für (acc.), sich freuen auf (acc., looking forward) vs. sich freuen über (acc., about something present/just happened), warten auf (acc.), teilnehmen an (dat.), sich erkundigen nach (dat.). Learn these as unit ‘formulas’ because the preposition-case combination must be perfect in the exam.

部分动词与固定介词搭配,并决定后续名词的格。WJEC 考纲中常见的:sich interessieren für (第四格), sich freuen auf (第四格,期待) 对比 sich freuen über (第四格,为已发生的事高兴), warten auf (第四格), teilnehmen an (第三格), sich erkundigen nach (第三格)。把这些当作整体“公式”来学习,因为考试中必须精准掌握介词与格的搭配。

10. Relative Clause Construction Formula | 关系从句结构公式

Relative clauses provide additional information about a noun, and they follow a clear pattern: the relative pronoun matches the gender and number of the antecedent noun, but its case depends on its function within the relative clause. The verb goes to the end.

关系从句提供关于名词的补充信息,并遵循清晰模式:关系代词与先行词在性和数上一致,但它的格取决于其在从句中的功能。动词置于末尾。

Antecedent noun, der/die/das/die (case appropriate) + … + verb (final).

Declension of relative pronouns mirrors that of the definite article, except in the genitive (dessen/deren) and dative plural (denen). Example: Der Mann, der dort steht, ist mein Onkel (nominative function). Die Frau, mit der ich gesprochen habe, arbeitet hier (dative after mit). Das Haus, in dem ich wohne, ist alt. In formal writing, genitive relative pronouns are important: Der Junge, dessen Mutter krank ist, fehlt heute. (The boy whose mother is ill is absent today.) Note the word order: relative clause verb-last is non-negotiable.

11. Time-Manner-Place (TMP) Adverbial Formula | 时间-方式-地点状语语序公式

When multiple adverbials or adverbial phrases appear in a German main clause, they follow the TMP rule: Time (when?) → Manner (how?) → Place (where?). This formula keeps your writing idiomatic and accurate:

当德语主句中出现多个状语或状语短语时,遵循 TMP 规则:时间(wann?)→ 方式(wie?)→ 地点(wo?)。这一公式能让你的写作地道且精准:

Verb-second + subject + [optional objects] + Time + Manner + Place + (other elements).

Example: Ich fahre morgen mit dem Zug nach Berlin. (I am going tomorrow by train to Berlin.) If you need to shift emphasis, bring one element to the first position (before the verb), but then the verb-second rule still applies, and the remaining adverbials maintain TMP order. Gestern ist er allein nach Hause gegangen. (Yesterday he went home alone.) The TMP sequence is a cornerstone of natural A2-level expression in the Writing paper.

例句:Ich fahre morgen mit dem Zug nach Berlin. 若需转换强调,可将某一成分提至首位(动词前),但动词第二位规则不变,且之后的其他状语仍保持 TMP 顺序:Gestern ist er allein nach Hause gegangen. TMP 序列是 A2 写作中自然表达的一个基石。

12. Infinitive Constructions (zu + infinitive) | 不定式结构(zu + 不定式)公式

When an infinitive is used in a complement to a noun, adjective or certain verbs, it is introduced by zu and placed at the end of the clause (or an infinitive clause). The most common patterns are:

当不定式用作名词、形容词或某些动词的补足语时,须用 zu 引导并置于从句或不定式结构的末尾。最常见模式有:

um … zu + infinitive (in order to): Er fährt nach Berlin, um seinen Freund zu besuchen. (He goes to Berlin in order to visit his friend.) ohne … zu (without): Er ging, ohne ein Wort zu sagen. (He left without saying a word.) statt … zu (instead of): Statt zu lernen, sah er fern. (Instead of studying, he watched TV.)

um … zu + 不定式(为了):Er fährt nach Berlin, um seinen Freund zu besuchen. ohne … zu(没有):Er ging, ohne ein Wort zu sagen. statt … zu(而不是):Statt zu lernen, sah er fern.

With separable prefix verbs, ‘zu’ is inserted between prefix and stem: anfangen → anzufangen, fernsehen → fernzusehen. In main clauses with verbs that govern a zu-infinitive, the infinitive clause usually follows the main clause, and the zu-infinitive goes to the end of that infinitive clause. Examples of common trigger verbs: hoffen, versuchen, vergessen, anfangen, aufhören. Formula: main clause, trigger verb + … , [infinitive clause] zu + infinitive.

对于可分前缀动词,’zu’ 插入前缀和词干之间:anfangen → anzufangen, fernsehen → fernzusehen。在支配 zu 不定式动词的主句中,不定式从句通常跟在主句之后,而 zu 不定式处于该不定式从句的末尾。常见触发动词:hoffen, versuchen, vergessen, anfangen, aufhören。公式:主句,触发动词 + … ,[不定式从句] zu + 不定式。
