2. Present Tense: Regular and Irregular Verbs | 现在时:规则与不规则动词

The present tense is used to talk about what happens now, what you are doing, and general truths. Regular verbs are divided into -er, -ir, and -re groups, each with its own set of endings. Mastering these patterns is the first step to building strong sentences.

现在时用于描述当下发生的事、正在进行的动作以及普遍真理。规则动词分为 -er、-ir 和 -re 三类,每类有各自的词尾变化。掌握这些模式是构建正确句子的第一步。

Subject parler (to speak) finir (to finish) vendre (to sell)
je parle finis vends
tu parles finis vends
il/elle/on parle finit vend
nous parlons finissons vendons
vous parlez finissez vendez
ils/elles parlent finissent vendent

Many of the most frequently used verbs are irregular and must be memorised individually. The verbs être (to be), avoir (to have), aller (to go) and faire (to do/make) appear in nearly every topic, so learn their present-tense forms by heart.

许多最高频的动词是不规则的,需要单独记忆。être(是)、avoir(有)、aller(去)和 faire(做)几乎出现在每个主题中,因此务必牢记它们的现在时变位。

Subject être avoir aller faire
je suis ai vais fais
tu es as vas fais
il/elle/on est a va fait
nous sommes avons allons faisons
vous êtes avez allez faites
ils/elles sont ont vont font

Also note common modal verbs like pouvoir (can), vouloir (to want) and devoir (must). Their irregularities follow patterns that become familiar with practice. For example: je peux, tu peux, il peut, nous pouvons, vous pouvez, ils peuvent.

还要注意常见的情态动词,如 pouvoir(能够)、vouloir(想要)和 devoir(必须)。它们的不规则变化经过练习会逐渐熟悉。例如:je peux, tu peux, il peut, nous pouvons, vous pouvez, ils peuvent.

3. Perfect Tense (Passé Composé) | 复合过去时

The perfect tense expresses completed actions in the past. It is formed with a present-tense auxiliary verb (avoir or être) plus the past participle of the main verb. Most verbs use avoir: J’ai mangé (I ate). A smaller set of verbs, often related to movement or change of state, use être and require the past participle to agree with the subject.

复合过去时表达已经完成的过去动作。它由助动词(avoir 或 être)的现在时加上主动词的过去分词构成。大多数动词用 avoir:J’ai mangé(我吃了)。有一小部分动词,通常与移动或状态变化有关,使用 être,并且过去分词需要与主语性数配合。

The classic être verbs can be remembered with the acronym MRS VANDERTRAMP: Monter, Rester, Sortir, Venir, Aller, Naître, Descendre, Entrer, Rentrer, Tomber, Retourner, Arriver, Mourir, Partir. With these verbs, add -e for feminine, -s for plural, and -es for feminine plural: Elle est allée, Ils sont partis.

être 动词可以借助首字母缩略词 MRS VANDERTRAMP 记忆:Monter, Rester, Sortir, Venir, Aller, Naître, Descendre, Entrer, Rentrer, Tomber, Retourner, Arriver, Mourir, Partir。与这些动词连用时,过去分词要加 -e(阴性)、加 -s(复数)或 -es(阴性复数):Elle est allée, Ils sont partis.

For regular past participles, -er verbs change to -é (parler → parlé), -ir verbs to -i (finir → fini), and -re verbs to -u (vendre → vendu). Irregular past participles such as eu (avoir), été (être), fait (faire), pu (pouvoir) and vu (voir) must be learnt off by heart because they appear extremely frequently.

规则动词的过去分词变化:-er 动词变为 -é(parler → parlé),-ir 变为 -i(finir → fini),-re 变为 -u(vendre → vendu)。不规则过去分词如 eu(avoir)、été(être)、fait(faire)、pu(pouvoir)和 vu(voir)必须牢记,因为它们的出现频率极高。

4. Imperfect Tense (Imparfait) | 未完成过去时

The imperfect describes what things were like, what used to happen, and ongoing or repeated past actions. It is the tense for setting the scene, describing weather, time, emotions, and physical states in the past: Il faisait beau (It was fine), J’étais fatigué(e) (I was tired), Nous jouions souvent au foot (We often used to play football).

未完成过去时用于描写过去的状态、过去常常发生的事情以及持续或重复的过去动作。它是描绘场景、天气、时间、情感和身体状态的时态:Il faisait beau(天气很好)、J’étais fatigué(e)(我当时很累)、Nous jouions souvent au foot(我们过去常踢足球)。

To form the imperfect, take the nous form of the present tense, remove -ons, and add the endings -ais, -ais, -ait, -ions, -iez, -aient. The only exception is être, whose stem is ét-: j’étais, tu étais, il était, nous étions, vous étiez, ils étaient. This pattern is very regular, so once you know the stem, conjugating is straightforward.

构成未完成过去时的方法是:取动词现在时 nous 的变位,去掉 -ons,然后加上词尾 -ais、-ais、-ait、-ions、-iez、-aient。唯一的例外是 être,其词干为 ét-:j’étais, tu étais, il était, nous étions, vous étiez, ils étaient。这个模式十分规则,只要知道了词干,变位就很简单。

In the exam you will often need to combine the perfect and imperfect tenses in the same narrative. Use the perfect for main completed events and the imperfect for background description, and you will add impressive depth to your writing.

考试中经常需要在同一篇叙述中结合使用复合过去时和未完成过去时。用复合过去时表达主要的完整事件,用未完成过去时描写背景,这样会显著提升写作的层次感。

5. Near Future and Simple Future | 最近将来时与简单将来时

To talk about future events you can use two main structures. The near future (futur proche) is formed by conjugating aller in the present tense plus an infinitive: Je vais regarder la télé (I am going to watch TV). It is excellent for plans and immediate intentions.

表达将来事件可以使用两种主要结构。最近将来时由 aller 的现在时加上动词原形构成:Je vais regarder la télé(我打算看电视)。它非常适合表达计划和眼前打算。

The simple future (futur simple) is used for more distant or formal future actions. To form it for -er and -ir verbs, use the whole infinitive as the stem and add endings: -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont. For -re verbs, drop the final -e first. For example, je parlerai, tu finiras, il vendra. Note that many common verbs have irregular stems, such as avoir (aur-), être (ser-), aller (ir-), faire (fer-), pouvoir (pourr-), devoir (devr-), vouloir (voudr-), and voir (verr-), but the endings remain the same.

简单将来时用于较遥远或较正式的将来动作。对于 -er 和 -ir 动词,用整词原形作词干,加上词尾 -ai、-as、-a、-ons、-ez、-ont。-re 动词则先去掉词尾的 -e。例如:je parlerai, tu finiras, il vendra。注意,许多常用动词有不规则词干,如 avoir (aur-)、être (ser-)、aller (ir-)、faire (fer-)、pouvoir (pourr-)、devoir (devr-)、vouloir (voudr-) 和 voir (verr-),但所有动词的词尾相同。

6. Conditional Tense | 条件式

The conditional is used to express what would happen, especially in ‘if’ sentences and to make polite requests. It is formed by adding the imperfect endings (-ais, -ais, -ait, -ions, -iez, -aient) to the same stems as the simple future. So once you know the future stems, you automatically know the conditional stems: je voudrais (I would like), nous pourrions (we could), ils feraient (they would do).

条件式用来表达可能发生的情况,尤其用于“如果”句和委婉请求。它的构成方式是在简单将来时的词干后加上未完成过去时的词尾(-ais、-ais、-ait、-ions、-iez、-aient)。因此,只要掌握了简单将来时的词干,也就掌握了条件式的词干:je voudrais(我想要)、nous pourrions(我们可以)、ils feraient(他们会做)。

Typical usage includes sentences like Si j’avais de l’argent, je voyagerais (If I had money, I would travel) or Je voudrais une baguette, s’il vous plaît (I would like a baguette, please). Being able to produce conditional forms accurately will make your spoken and written French sound much more sophisticated.

典型用法包括 Si j’avais de l’argent, je voyagerais(如果我有钱,我会去旅行)或 Je voudrais une baguette, s’il vous plaît(请给我一根法棍)。能够准确使用条件式,会让你的口语和书面法语显得更加地道和成熟。

7. Adjectives: Agreement and Position | 形容词:配合与位置

In French, adjectives agree in gender (masculine/feminine) and number (singular/plural) with the noun they describe. Most adjectives add -e for the feminine, -s for masculine plural and -es for feminine plural. However, there are many irregular patterns: heureux → heureuse (happy), beau → belle, vieux → vieille, long → longue. Additionally, some adjectives have a special masculine form before a vowel or silent h: un bel homme, un nouvel ami.

法语中,形容词需要与所修饰的名词在性(阴阳性)和数(单复数)上配合。大多数形容词在阴性时加 -e,阳性复数加 -s,阴性复数加 -es。但也有很多不规则变化:heureux → heureuse(幸福的)、beau → belle、vieux → vieille、long → longue。此外,部分形容词在元音或哑音 h 前还有一个特殊的阳性形式:un bel homme、un nouvel ami。

Word order is another key point. While many adjectives come after the noun (une voiture rouge), a group known as BANGS adjectives normally go before the noun: Beauty (beau, joli), Age (vieux, jeune, nouveau), Number (premier, dernier), Goodness (bon, mauvais), Size (grand, petit, gros). A useful mnemonic is BANGS.

词序是另一个关键点。大部分形容词放在名词之后(une voiture rouge),但有一类称为 BANGS 的形容词通常前置:美(beau, joli)、年龄(vieux, jeune, nouveau)、数目(premier, dernier)、好坏(bon, mauvais)、大小(grand, petit, gros)。用 BANGS 来记忆非常有效。

Making adjectives agree and placing them correctly is not only essential for accuracy but also an area where examiners look for secure grammatical knowledge. Always check that every adjective in your writing matches its noun.

形容词的配合与正确放置不仅是准确表达的基础,也是考官判断语法掌握程度的重要方面。每次写作时都要检查每一个形容词是否与名词保持一致。
