Year 12 CAIE German: Formula & Rule Quick-Reference Handbook | Year 12 CAIE 德语:公式定理速查手册

📚 Year 12 CAIE German: Formula & Rule Quick-Reference Handbook | Year 12 CAIE 德语:公式定理速查手册

Mastering German at Year 12 level requires more than vocabulary – it demands a clear, structured grasp of the grammatical ‘formulas’ that govern how words fit together. This quick-reference handbook distils the essential rules, patterns, and ‘theorems’ tested in the CAIE AS German syllabus. Use it to check a declension, confirm a word order rule, or solidify your understanding of tense formation.

掌握 Year 12 阶段的德语不仅需要词汇,更需要清晰、结构化地掌握那些支配词语组合的语法“公式”。本速查手册提炼了 CAIE AS 德语大纲中考查的核心规则、模式和“定理”。可用于查阅变格、确认语序规则,或巩固你对时态构成的理解。

1. Noun Genders & Plural Patterns | 名词性与复数模式

Every German noun has a gender – masculine (der), feminine (die), or neuter (das). While there are many exceptions, certain endings reliably indicate gender: -er, -el, -en, -ig, -ling are usually masculine; -heit, -keit, -ung, -schaft, -tion, -ie are feminine; -chen, -lein, -ment, -um, -tum are neuter. Plurals are formed in five main ways: add -e (der Tag → die Tage); add -er (das Kind → die Kinder); add -(e)n (die Frau → die Frauen); add -s (das Auto → die Autos); or no ending but umlaut (der Vater → die Väter). Always learn the gender and plural together with the noun.

每个德语名词都有性——阳性(der)、阴性(die)或中性(das)。尽管例外很多,但某些词尾能可靠地提示词性:以 -er、-el、-en、-ig、-ling 结尾的多为阳性;-heit、-keit、-ung、-schaft、-tion、-ie 为阴性;-chen、-lein、-ment、-um、-tum 为中性。复数主要有五种构成方式:加 -e(der Tag → die Tage);加 -er(das Kind → die Kinder);加 -(e)n(die Frau → die Frauen);加 -s(das Auto → die Autos);或不加词尾但变元音(der Vater → die Väter)。始终将性与复数形式和名词一同记忆。

2. Case System: The Four Cases | 格体系:四个格

German operates with four cases: Nominative (subject), Accusative (direct object), Dative (indirect object), and Genitive (possession). The case of a noun phrase is shown through the article, adjective endings, and sometimes the noun itself. Key triggers: certain verbs (e.g. helfen always takes Dative), prepositions (e.g. für + Accusative, mit + Dative), and sentence roles. The question words help identify the case: Wer? (Nominative), Wen? (Accusative), Wem? (Dative), Wessen? (Genitive).

德语有四个格:第一格(主格)、第四格(宾格)、第三格(与格)和第二格(属格)。名词短语的格通过冠词、形容词词尾以及有时名词本身来体现。关键触发因素:某些动词(如 helfen 始终支配第三格)、介词(如 für + 第四格,mit + 第三格)以及句子成分。疑问词可帮助判断格:Wer?(第一格)、Wen?(第四格)、Wem?(第三格)、Wessen?(第二格)。

3. Definite & Indefinite Article Declension | 定冠词与不定冠词变格

The definite article (der, die, das) and indefinite article (ein, eine, ein) change their form according to case and gender. Below is the declension table – treat it as the fundamental ‘formula’ for all other determiner and adjective endings.

定冠词(der, die, das)和不定冠词(ein, eine, ein)根据格和性改变形式。下表为变格表——可将其视为所有其他限定词和形容词词尾的根本“公式”。

Case Masculine Neuter Feminine Plural
Nominative der / ein das / ein die / eine die / –
Accusative den / einen das / ein die / eine die / –
Dative dem / einem dem / einem der / einer den / –
Genitive des / eines des / eines der / einer der / –

Note: In the Dative plural, the noun itself often adds an -n (den Kindern). The indefinite article has no plural form, but negative kein and possessives follow the same pattern (mein, dein, etc.).

注意:在第三格复数中,名词本身常加 -n(den Kindern)。不定冠词没有复数形式,但否定词 kein 和物主冠词(mein, dein 等)遵循相同的模式。

4. Adjective Endings: The Three Tables | 形容词词尾:三张表

Adjective endings depend on the type of determiner preceding them. There are three sets: strong (no determiner or bare adjective), weak (after definite article or der-words), and mixed (after ein-words or possessive determiners). The rule of thumb: the adjective must show the case/gender clearly when the article does not.

强变化词尾:第一格 – -er(阳)、-es(中)、-e(阴)、-e(复);第四格 – -en(阳)、-es(中)、-e(阴)、-e(复);第三格 – -em(阳)、-em(中)、-er(阴)、-en(复);第二格 – -en(阳/中)、-er(阴)、-er(复)。

Weak endings (after der-words): Across all genders and numbers – Nominative: -e; Accusative: -e (except masc. -en); Dative: -en; Genitive: -en.

弱变化词尾(der-词后):所有性和数 – 第一格:-e;第四格:-e(阳性 -en 除外);第三格:-en;第二格:-en。

Mixed endings (after ein-words): Same as weak endings, but the endings for masculine nominative (-er), neuter nominative/accusative (-es) are ‘strong’ to compensate for the lack of ending on ein.

混合变化词尾(ein-词后):与弱变化相同,但阳性第一格(-er)、中性第一/四格(-es)为“强变化”以弥补 ein 无词尾。

5. Personal, Reflexive & Relative Pronouns | 人称、反身和关系代词

Personal pronouns change by case: ich (mich, mir, meiner); du (dich, dir, deiner); er (ihn, ihm, seiner); sie (sie, ihr, ihrer); es (es, ihm, seiner); wir (uns, uns, unser); ihr (euch, euch, euer); sie (sie, ihnen, ihrer); Sie (Sie, Ihnen, Ihrer). Reflexive pronouns are identical to the accusative/dative personal pronouns but only used when subject and object refer to the same person: ich wasche mich; ich wasche mir die Hände. Relative pronouns introduce relative clauses and are identical to the definite article except for the genitive and dative plural (dessen, deren, deren, denen).

人称代词随格变化:ich(mich, mir, meiner);du(dich, dir, deiner);er(ihn, ihm, seiner);sie(sie, ihr, ihrer);es(es, ihm, seiner);wir(uns, uns, unser);ihr(euch, euch, euer);sie(sie, ihnen, ihrer);Sie(Sie, Ihnen, Ihrer)。反身代词与宾格/与格人称代词形式相同,但仅用于主语和宾语指代同一人时:ich wasche mich(我洗自己);ich wasche mir die Hände(我洗手)。关系代词引导关系从句,形式与定冠词相同,但第二格和第三格复数不同(dessen, deren, deren, denen)。

6. Present & Simple Past Tense (Präteritum) | 现在时与过去时

Present tense: Regular verbs follow the stem + endings pattern: -e, -st, -t, -en, -t, -en. Stem changes occur with strong verbs (e → ie, e → i, a → ä) only in du and er/sie/es forms: sehen (du siehst, er sieht); fahren (du fährst, er fährt).

现在时:规则动词遵循词干 + 词尾的模式:-e、-st、-t、-en、-t、-en。强变化动词仅在 du 和 er/sie/es 形式中出现词干元音变化(e → ie、e → i、a → ä):sehen(du siehst, er sieht);fahren(du fährst, er fährt)。

Simple past (Präteritum): Regular verbs add -te (sagte, spielte). Strong verbs undergo a vowel change and add special endings: gab, ging, sah, fuhr. Mixed verbs blend both (brachte, dachte). The endings for all speakers are: -, -st, -, -en, -t, -en. Use Präteritum primarily in written narratives for haben, sein, modal verbs, and common strong verbs.

过去时:规则动词加 -te(sagte, spielte)。强变化动词经历元音变化并加特殊词尾:gab, ging, sah, fuhr。混合动词结合了二者(brachte, dachte)。所有人称词尾为:-、-st、-、-en、-t、-en。过去时主要用于书面叙述中 haben、sein、情态动词和常见强变化动词。

7. Perfect Tense & Past Participles | 现在完成时与过去分词

The perfect tense is the dominant past form in spoken German. Structure: haben / sein (present) + past participle. The participle of regular verbs is ge + stem + t (gemacht). Strong verbs: ge + stem (often vowel change) + en (gegessen, gefahren). Mixed verbs: ge + stem + t (gebracht). Inseparable prefixes (be-, emp-, ent-, er-, ge-, miss-, ver-, zer-) omit the ge-: besucht, verloren. Separable prefix verbs insert ge- between prefix and stem: aufgemacht, eingekauft. Verbs ending in -ieren also omit ge-: studiert, telefoniert. Use sein when the verb indicates movement from A to B or change of state (gegangen, gefahren, gewachsen, gestorben).

现在完成时是口语中主要使用的过去时形式。结构为:haben / sein(现在时)+ 过去分词。规则动词的分词为 ge + 词干 + t(gemacht)。强变化动词:ge + 词干(常有元音变化)+ en(gegessen, gefahren)。混合动词:ge + 词干 + t(gebracht)。不可分前缀(be-、emp-、ent-、er-、ge-、miss-、ver-、zer-)省略 ge-:besucht, verloren。可分前缀动词将 ge- 插入前缀与词干之间:aufgemacht, eingekauft。以 -ieren 结尾的动词同样省略 ge-:studiert, telefoniert。当动词表示从 A 到 B 的位移或状态变化时,使用 sein(gegangen, gefahren, gewachsen, gestorben)。

8. Separable & Inseparable Prefix Verbs | 可分与不可分前缀动词

Many German verbs carry a prefix that alters meaning. Separable prefixes (ab-, an-, auf-, aus-, ein-, mit-, nach-, vor-, weg-, zu-, zurück-, etc.) detach in main clauses: Ich stehe um 7 Uhr auf. In subordinate clauses and with the infinitive form, the prefix remains attached: weil ich um 7 Uhr aufstehe; aufstehen. Inseparable prefixes (be-, emp-, ent-, er-, ge-, ver-, zer-) never detach and are not stressed. Some prefixes can be either separable or inseparable depending on meaning (übersetzen: to translate – inseparable; übersetzen: to ferry across – separable; umfahren: to drive around – inseparable; umfahren: to knock down – separable). Check a dictionary for stress and meaning to determine separability.

许多德语动词带有改变词义的前缀。可分前缀(ab-, an-, auf-, aus-, ein-, mit-, nach-, vor-, weg-, zu-, zurück- 等)在主句中分离开来:Ich stehe um 7 Uhr auf. 在从句和不带 zu 不定式中,前缀则保持附着:weil ich um 7 Uhr aufsteheaufstehen。不可分前缀(be-, emp-, ent-, er-, ge-, ver-, zer-)永不分离且不重读。有些前缀根据词义既可分离也可不可分离(übersetzen:翻译——不可分;übersetzen:摆渡——可分;umfahren:绕行——不可分;umfahren:撞倒——可分)。查阅词典,根据重音和词义判断其可分性。

9. Modal Verbs & The Modal Formula | 情态动词与情态公式

The six modal verbs (dürfen, können, mögen, müssen, sollen, wollen) express ability, permission, obligation, and desire. In the present, they exhibit irregular stem changes in the singular (ich darf, du darfst, er darf) and lose the umlaut where it exists in the infinitive (können → kann; müssen → muss). The modal formula: modal verb (conjugated) + (other complements) + infinitive at end. Example: Ich will heute Abend ins Kino gehen. In the perfect tense, they form a double infinitive structure: Ich habe ins Kino gehen wollen. Learn the specific meanings and the subtle differences: mögen (like), möchten (would like – subjunctive of mögen), müssen (must/have to), sollen (should/ought to), dürfen (may/be allowed to), können (can/be able to).

六个情态动词(dürfen、können、mögen、müssen、sollen、wollen)表达能力、许可、义务和愿望。现在时中,它们在单数人称中出现不规则词干变化(ich darf, du darfst, er darf),且若有变元音则消失(können → kann;müssen → muss)。情态动词公式:情态动词(变位)+(其他成分)+ 动词不定式在句末。例句:Ich will heute Abend ins Kino gehen. 在现在完成时中,它们构成双不定式结构:Ich habe ins Kino gehen wollen. 学习其具体含义和细微差别:mögen(喜欢)、möchten(想要——mögen 的第二虚拟式)、müssen(必须)、sollen(应该)、dürfen(可以/被允许)、können(能够/会)。

10. Word Order Rules: V2, Verb-End, & Time-Manner-Place | 语序规则:V2、动词置末与时间-方式-地点

The ‘verb second’ (V2) rule governs main clauses: the conjugated verb is always the second element, regardless of what occupies position one (subject, time expression, object, etc.). Morgen fahre ich nach Berlin. (Position 1: Morgen; Position 2: fahre). In subordinate clauses, the conjugated verb moves to the end: …weil ich morgen nach Berlin fahre. The past participle or infinitive in perfect/future constructions also sits at the end of a main clause: Ich habe gestern einen Film gesehen. The standard order for adverbials is Time – Manner – Place (TMP): Ich bin gestern (T) mit dem Bus (M) nach Hause (P) gefahren. However, this can be rearranged for emphasis.

“动词二位”(V2)规则支配主句语序:变位动词始终是第二个成分,无论第一位是什么(主语、时间状语、宾语等)。Morgen fahre ich nach Berlin.(第一位:Morgen;第二位:fahre)。在从句中,变位动词移至句末:…weil ich morgen nach Berlin fahre. 在现在完成时或将来时的主句中,过去分词或不定式也位于句末:Ich habe gestern einen Film gesehen. 状语的标准顺序为时间 – 方式 – 地点(TMP):Ich bin gestern (T) mit dem Bus (M) nach Hause (P) gefahren. 然而,该顺序可因强调而调整。

11. Prepositions & The Case They Govern | 介词及其支配的格

Prepositions are the key to deducing the correct case for a noun phrase. Learn them in groups:

介词是推断名词短语正确格的关键。按组记忆:

  • Accusative-only: durch, für, gegen, ohne, um, entlang (postposed). Für meinen Vater.
  • 仅支配第四格:durch、für、gegen、ohne、um、entlang(后置)。Für meinen Vater.
  • Dative-only: aus, außer, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu, gegenüber. Mit dem Bus.
  • 仅支配第三格:aus、außer、bei、mit、nach、seit、von、zu、gegenüber。Mit dem Bus.
  • Two-way (Wechselpräpositionen): an, auf, hinter, in, neben, über, unter, vor, zwischen. These take accusative for motion/direction (wohin?) and dative for location (wo?). Ich gehe in die Schule. (accusative) vs. Ich bin in der Schule. (dative).
  • 两用介词:an、auf、hinter、in、neben、über、unter、vor、zwischen。这些词在表移动/方向时支配第四格(wohin?),在表静止位置时支配第三格(wo?)。Ich gehe in die Schule.(第四格)vs. Ich bin in der Schule.(第三格)。
  • Genitive: während, wegen, trotz, (an)statt, innerhalb, außerhalb. In spoken German, the dative is increasingly used, but the genitive is expected in formal writing.
  • 第二格:während、wegen、trotz、(an)statt、innerhalb、außerhalb。口语中越来越多使用第三格,但正式书面语中仍要求使用第二格。

12. Subordinating Conjunctions & Infinitive Clauses | 从属连词与不定式从句

Subordinating conjunctions kick the conjugated verb to the end of the clause. The most common are: dass (that), weil (because), wenn (if/when), obwohl (although), damit (so that), als (when – past single event), während (while), bevor (before), nachdem (after). The word order structure is: conjunction + subject + rest of clause + conjugated verb at end. Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil es regnet. Infinitive clauses with zu occur when a verb phrase complements certain verbs or expressions (e.g., versuchen, vergessen, es macht Spaß). The zu stands directly before the infinitive and is written as one word with separable verbs: Ich versuche, früh aufzustehen. The clause is set off by a comma.

从属连词将变位动词踢至从句末尾。最常见的连词有:dass(引导名词性从句)、weil(因为)、wenn(如果/当……时)、obwohl(尽管)、damit(以便)、als(当……时——过去一次性事件)、während(当……的期间)、bevor(在……之前)、nachdem(在……之后)。语序结构为:连词 + 主语 + 从句其余部分 + 变位动词在末尾Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil es regnet.zu 的不定式从句出现在动词短语补充某些动词或表达时(如 versuchen、vergessen、es macht Spaß)。zu 直接位于不定式之前,与可分动词连写:Ich versuche, früh aufzustehen. 从句用逗号隔开。
