1. Noun Genders and Article Tables | 名词词性与冠词表

Every German noun belongs to one of three genders: masculine (der), feminine (die), or neuter (das). The definite article changes according to case and number, as shown in the table below.

每个德语名词都属于阳性 (der)、阴性 (die) 或中性 (das) 中的一种。定冠词根据格和数变化,如下表所示。

Case / 格 Masculine / 阳性 Feminine / 阴性 Neuter / 中性 Plural / 复数
Nominative / 第一格 der die das die
Accusative / 第四格 den die das die
Dative / 第三格 dem der dem den (+n on noun if possible)
Genitive / 第二格 des + -(e)s der des + -(e)s der

Pay special attention to the dative plural: not only does the article become ‘den’, but the noun itself adds an -n (or -en) ending, e.g. ‘den Kindern’, ‘den Frauen’. This is a frequent exam error.

尤其注意复数第三格:不仅冠词变为 den,名词本身也要加 -n 或 -en,例如 den Kindern、den Frauen。这是考试中的常见错误。

2. Adjective Declensions in a Nutshell | 形容词变格要点

Adjective endings depend on whether the article in front of the noun is definite, indefinite, or missing. The key principle is that the strong ending shows the case and gender when no article does, but the weak ending -e or -en is used when the article already carries the signal.

形容词词尾取决于名词前的冠词是定冠词、不定冠词还是无冠词。核心原则是:当没有冠词显示格和性时,形容词用强变化词尾;当冠词已经携带格信号时,形容词用弱变化词尾 -e 或 -en。

The most exam-relevant table for weak declension after ‘der-die-das’ words: all nominative singular and accusative feminine/neuter take -e; everything else is -en.

考试中最重要的是定冠词后的弱变化:所有第一格单数和阴性/中性第四格用 -e,其余一律用 -en。

After ‘ein’ (indefinite article) and possessive adjectives (mein, dein, etc.), the mixed declension applies: nominative masculine, nominative/accusative neuter add -es; feminine and plural follow strong declension patterns. Again, check whether the article itself shows the case clearly.

在不定冠词 ein 和物主代词 (mein, dein 等) 后用混合变化:阳性第一格、中性第一/第四格加 -es;阴性和复数遵循强变化模式。同样要检查冠词本身是否清晰显示格。

3. Verb Conjugation and the Six Tenses Table | 动词变位与六大时态

For the Edexcel exam, you must confidently produce present, perfect, imperfect (simple past), pluperfect, future, and future perfect. Regular weak verbs follow a predictable pattern; strong verbs change their stem vowel in the imperfect and often in the past participle.

在Edexcel考试中,你必须熟练运用现在时、完成时、过去时、过去完成时、将来时和将来完成时。规则弱变化动词遵循可预测的模式;强变化动词在过去时和过去分词中要改变词干元音。

Present tense endings for regular verbs: ich -e, du -st, er/sie/es -t, wir -en, ihr -t, sie/Sie -en. Separable verbs split and place the prefix at the end of the clause, e.g. ‘Ich stehe um 7 Uhr auf.’

现在时规则词尾:ich -e, du -st, er/sie/es -t, wir -en, ihr -t, sie/Sie -en。可分动词把前缀移到从句末尾,例如:Ich stehe um 7 Uhr auf。

The perfect tense is formed with haben/sein + past participle. Use ‘sein’ for verbs of movement or change of state (e.g. fahren, gehen, sterben). The participle often starts with ge- and ends in -t for weak verbs, or -en for strong verbs.

完成时由 haben/sein + 过去分词构成。表示移动或状态变化的动词 (如 fahren, gehen, sterben) 用 sein 作助动词。弱变化动词分词通常以 ge- 开头、以 -t 结尾,强变化动词分词以 -en 结尾。

Memorise the most common strong verbs and their principal parts, e.g. singen – sang – gesungen, schreiben – schrieb – geschrieben.

记住最常见强变化动词及其三形:singen – sang – gesungen, schreiben – schrieb – geschrieben。

4. Modal Verbs and Their Nuances | 情态动词与用法细则

The six modal verbs are können, müssen, dürfen, sollen, wollen, mögen (and möchten). They modify the meaning of a main verb and are conjugated irregularly in the present: the ich and er/sie/es forms lose the umlaut and do not add an ending, e.g. ich kann, er muss, sie darf.

六个情态动词是 können, müssen, dürfen, sollen, wollen, mögen (及 möchten)。它们修饰主要动词的意义,现在时变位不规则:ich 和 er/sie/es 形式失去变音且不加词尾,如 ich kann, er muss, sie darf。

In a main clause, the modal verb occupies second position and the infinitive goes to the end: ‘Ich will heute ins Kino gehen.’ In subordinate clauses, the modal verb moves to the very end, after the main verb infinitive.

在主句中,情态动词处于第二位,实义动词不定式放在句末:Ich will heute ins Kino gehen。在从句中,情态动词移到实义动词不定式之后的最末尾位置。

The perfect tense of modal verbs uses the double infinitive construction when another verb is present: ‘Ich habe es machen können.’ Without a second verb, the participle is used: ‘Ich habe das nicht gewollt.’

情态动词的完成时,如果句子中有另一个实义动词,使用双不定式结构:Ich habe es machen können。如果没有第二个动词,则使用情态动词的过去分词:Ich habe das nicht gewollt。

5. Subjunctive II and Conditional Sentences | 第二虚拟式与条件句

Konjunktiv II expresses hypothetical situations, wishes, and polite requests. You must be able to form it for the exam, both with ‘würde + infinitive’ and with true subjunctive forms of strong verbs.

第二虚拟式表达假设情况、愿望和礼貌请求。你必须能在考试中正确构成它,既可借助 würde + 不定式,也可使用强变化动词的真实虚拟形式。

The most common true forms are: wäre (sein), hätte (haben), ginge, käme, wüsste. For weak verbs, Konjunktiv II is identical to the simple past, so the würde-construction is used to avoid ambiguity.

最常见的真实虚拟形式是:wäre (sein), hätte (haben), ginge, käme, wüsste。弱变化动词的第二虚拟式与过去时相同,因此为避免歧义要使用 würde 结构。

Conditional clauses (wenn-sentences) require the conjugated verb at the end of the subordinate clause: ‘Wenn ich Zeit hätte, würde ich reisen.’ The main clause often begins with the verb: ‘Hätte ich Zeit, würde ich reisen.’

条件从句 (wenn引导) 要求变位动词放在从句末尾:Wenn ich Zeit hätte, würde ich reisen。主句常以动词开头:Hätte ich Zeit, würde ich reisen。

6. Passive Voice: Vorgangspassiv and Zustandspassiv | 被动语态:过程被动与状态被动

The Vorgangspassiv (process passive) is formed with werden + past participle. It focuses on the action itself. The Zustandspassiv (state passive) uses sein + past participle and describes the resultant state.

过程被动由 werden + 过去分词构成,强调动作本身。状态被动由 sein + 过去分词构成,描述动作完成后的状态。

In a main clause: ‘Das Buch wird gelesen.’ In the perfect: ‘Das Buch ist gelesen worden.’ (Note the form ‘worden’ instead of ‘geworden’). In the future: ‘Das Buch wird gelesen werden.’

主句:Das Buch wird gelesen。完成时:Das Buch ist gelesen worden(注意 worden 而非 geworden)。将来时:Das Buch wird gelesen werden。

The dative object does not become the subject in the passive; it remains in the dative: ‘Dem Schüler wird geholfen.’ This is a common exam trap.

第三格宾语在被动句中不变成主语,仍保留第三格:Dem Schüler wird geholfen。这是常见的考试陷阱。

7. Relative Clauses and Relative Pronouns | 关系从句与关系代词

Relative clauses are introduced by the definite articles der, die, das which function as relative pronouns. They agree in gender and number with the antecedent but take their case from their function inside the relative clause.

关系从句由定冠词 der, die, das 充当关系代词引导。它们的性和数与先行词一致,而格由它们在关系从句中的功能决定。

Relative pronoun table (identical to definite articles except genitive: dessen/deren/dessen/deren). In the dative plural, the form is ‘denen’, not ‘den’.

关系代词表 (与定冠词相同,但第二格为 dessen/deren/dessen/deren)。复数第三格是 denen,不是 den。

The verb in a relative clause is sent to the end: ‘Der Mann, den ich gestern gesehen habe, ist mein Nachbar.’ Always check the comma rules.

关系从句中的动词置于末尾:Der Mann, den ich gestern gesehen habe, ist mein Nachbar。要始终检查逗号使用规则。

8. Word Order Rules and Key Sentence Structure | 语序规则与关键句式

The golden rule of German word order is that the finite verb must be the second element in a main statement (V2). Time, manner, place is the typical order for adverbials, but the first position can be filled by almost any element for emphasis.

德语语序的黄金法则是陈述句中变位动词必须是第二个成分 (V2)。状语的典型顺序是时间、方式、地点,但为了强调,几乎任何成分都可以放在第一位。

After subordinating conjunctions (weil, dass, obwohl, wenn, damit, etc.) the conjugated verb goes to the end. Inversion occurs after certain adverbs or adverbial phrases at the beginning of a main clause (e.g. ‘Heute gehe ich…’).

在从属连词 (weil, dass, obwohl, wenn, damit 等) 之后,变位动词移到末尾。当主句以某些副词或副词短语开头时,会发生倒装 (如 Heute gehe ich…)。

For compound tenses with a modal verb or auxiliary, the main verb infinitive or past participle stands at the end of the main clause, while the finite verb is second. In subordinate clauses, the finite verb follows all other verb forms.

存在情态动词或助动词的复合时态中,实义动词不定式或过去分词位于主句末尾,变位动词在第二位。在从句中,变位动词跟随在所有其他动词形式之后。

9. Prepositions with Fixed Cases | 固定格的介词

Learn the lists by heart: accusative-only prepositions (durch, für, gegen, ohne, um), dative-only (aus, außer, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu, gegenüber), and two-way prepositions (an, auf, hinter, in, neben, über, unter, vor, zwischen) which govern accusative for motion towards (wohin?) and dative for location (wo?).

背熟下列介词:只支配第四格的介词 (durch, für, gegen, ohne, um),只支配第三格的介词 (aus, außer, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu, gegenüber),以及两用介词 (an, auf, hinter, in, neben, über, unter, vor, zwischen) — 表示方向 (wohin?) 用第四格,表示静止位置 (wo?) 用第三格。

Certain verbs and adjectives trigger a specific preposition and case, e.g. ‘sich interessieren für + acc.’, ‘Angst haben vor + dat.’ These must be memorised for the grammar and writing sections.

某些动词和形容词有固定的介词搭配,如 sich interessieren für + 第四格、Angst haben vor + 第三格。必须为语法和写作部分熟记这些搭配。

10. Exam Writing Strategies and Frequent Pitfalls | 考试写作策略与常见陷阱

Plan your essay using the PEEL structure: Point, Evidence, Explanation, Link. For the film and literature essay, embed references naturally and ensure your analysis is consistently evaluative rather than descriptive.

使用 PEEL 结构规划作文:观点、证据、解释、衔接。在电影与文学论文中,自然地嵌入引证,确保分析始终是评价性的而非描述性的。

In the grammar gap-fill and transformation tasks, watch out for adjective endings, case after prepositions, verb position in subordinate clauses, and correct tense choices. Time management is crucial: allocate roughly 45 minutes for the listening, reading, and translation section, and 1 hour 15 minutes for the two writing tasks.

在语法填空和句型转换题中,注意形容词词尾、介词后的格、从句中的动词位置和正确的时态选择。时间管理至关重要:听力、阅读和翻译部分大约分配45分钟,两篇写作任务分配1小时15分钟。

Always proofread for verb-subject agreement, capitalisation of nouns, and the correct use of the formal Sie. Even advanced learners forget that all nouns, and nominalised adjectives, must be capitalised.

务必检查主谓一致、名词大写规则以及正式称呼 Sie 的正确使用。即使是高水平学习者也会忘记所有名词和名词化形容词都必须大写。
