📚 Pre-U Edexcel German: Formulae and Theorems Quick Reference Handbook | Pre-U Edexcel 德语:公式定理速查手册

In mathematics, formulae and theorems offer a reliable shortcut to solving complex problems. Similarly, mastering German grammar can be approached as a system of linguistic ‘formulae’ — fixed patterns that, once memorised, allow you to construct accurate language quickly. This quick reference handbook distils the essential rules of Pre-U Edexcel German into bite-sized, formula-like statements, helping you revise efficiently and apply them with confidence during exams.

在数学中,公式定理是解决复杂问题的可靠捷径。同样,掌握德语语法也可以被看作一套语言“公式”——一旦记忆这些固定模式,你就能快速构建准确的语言表达。本速查手册将 Pre-U Edexcel 德语的核心规则提炼成小型的公式化表述,帮助你高效复习,并在考试中自信运用。

1. Present Tense Verb Conjugation Formula | 现在时动词变位公式

Regular verbs: stem = infinitive minus -en. Then add endings: ich -e, du -st, er/sie/es -t, wir -en, ihr -t, sie/Sie -en. This formula covers the vast majority of German verbs.

规则动词:词干 = 不定式去掉 -en。然后添加词尾:ich -e,du -st,er/sie/es -t,wir -en,ihr -t,sie/Sie -en。该公式适用于绝大多数德语动词。

Example: spielen → ich spiele, du spielst, er spielt, wir spielen, ihr spielt, sie spielen. The pattern is identical for almost all weak verbs.

例子:spielen → ich spiele, du spielst, er spielt, wir spielen, ihr spielt, sie spielen。这一模式对几乎所有弱变化动词都相同。

Stem-vowel change verbs (e.g. fahren, lesen): only the du and er/sie/es forms change — du fährst, er fährt; du liest, er liest. The stem change is predictable for certain vowel patterns (a → ä, e → ie/i).

词干元音变化动词(如 fahren、lesen):只有 du 和 er/sie/es 形式发生变化——du fährst, er fährt;du liest, er liest。对于特定的元音模式(a → ä,e → ie / i),这种变化是可预测的。

Essential irregular verbs: sein (ich bin, du bist, er ist, wir sind, ihr seid, sie sind) and haben (ich habe, du hast, er hat, wir haben, ihr habt, sie haben). Memorise these as fundamental formulae.

核心不规则动词:sein(ich bin, du bist, er ist, wir sind, ihr seid, sie sind)和 haben(ich habe, du hast, er hat, wir haben, ihr habt, sie haben)。将这些作为基础公式牢记。

2. Case System Formula | 格的变化系统

Nominative is the subject of the verb or the complement after sein/werden. Accusative marks the direct object and follows certain prepositions. Dative marks the indirect object and follows another set of prepositions. Genitive shows possession and appears after specific prepositions.

The definite article (the) changes as follows — treat this case table as a multiplication table that must be recalled instantly.

定冠词(the)变化如下——请将这张格位表当作乘法表一样快速忆起。

Case Masc. Neut. Fem. Plural
Nominative der das die die
Accusative den das die die
Dative dem dem der den
Genitive des des der der

The indefinite article (ein) and possessive adjectives (mein, dein, etc.) follow a similar declension pattern, with no ending in nominative masculine and neuter, but otherwise matching the definite article endings.

不定冠词(ein)和物主形容词(mein, dein 等)遵循类似的变格模式,在阳性主格和中性主格处无词尾,但其他形式与定冠词词尾一致。

3. Noun Gender and Article Rules | 名词性别与冠词公式

Recognise noun gender by its suffix: nouns ending in -ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft, -tion, -tät, -ie are almost always feminine (die). Nouns ending in -chen, -lein are neuter (das). Many nouns ending in -er, -el, -en, -ig, -ling are masculine (der). This ‘suffix theorem’ enables quick identification of about 70% of gender assignments.

根据名词后缀识别其性别:以 -ung、-heit、-keit、-schaft、-tion、-tät、-ie 结尾的名词几乎总是阴性(die)。以 -chen、-lein 结尾的为中性(das)。许多以 -er、-el、-en、-ig、-ling 结尾的名词是阳性(der)。这条“后缀定理”能让你快速识别大约 70% 的性别分配。

Always learn nouns together with their definite article: der Tisch, die Lampe, das Buch. Treat the noun and its article as a single unit — a memorise-once, use-forever formula.

始终将名词与其定冠词一起学习:der Tisch, die Lampe, das Buch。把名词和它的冠词当作一个整体——一种一次记忆、永久使用的公式。

Compound nouns take the gender of the last element: der Bahnhof (from die Bahn + der Hof, the last element ‘der Hof’ dictates the gender) → der Bahnhof. Apply this rule to all compound nouns without exception.

复合名词的性取决于最后一个成分:der Bahnhof(由 die Bahn + der Hof 构成,最后一个成分 der Hof 决定其性)→ der Bahnhof。该规则毫无例外地适用于所有复合名词。

4. Adjective Ending Formulae | 形容词词尾变化公式

When an adjective stands after a definite article (der, die, das), the endings follow a simplified pattern: -e in nominative singular (all genders) and accusative feminine/neuter, otherwise -en. This is the ‘definite-article formula’.

当形容词位于定冠词(der, die, das)之后时,词尾遵循简化模式:在主格单数(所有性别)以及阴性/中性宾格单数时用 -e,其它情况用 -en。这就是“定冠词公式”。

After an indefinite article (ein, eine) or possessive, the adjective must carry the full case-gender signal because the article often lacks an ending. The endings mirror the definite article endings in most forms: masculine nominative -er, neuter nominative/accusative -es, etc.

在不定冠词(ein, eine)或物主代词之后,形容词必须承担完整的性数格标记,因为冠词往往没有词尾。其词尾在多数形式中与定冠词词尾一致:阳性主格 -er,中性主格/宾格 -es 等。

Without any article (the ‘zero-article formula’), the adjective takes the same endings as the definite article itself, except that genitive masculine/neuter becomes -en (not -es). This strong declension clearly signals the case.

当没有任何冠词时(“零冠词公式”),形容词词尾与定冠词本身相同,唯属格阳性/中性变为 -en(而非 -es)。这种强变化能清楚标示格位。

Quick check: After der/die/das → adjective mostly -e or -en; after ein/eine → adjective carries the der/die/das signals; no article → adjective acts like der/die/das.

快速口诀:der/die/das 后 → 形容词多为 -e 或 -en;ein/eine 后 → 形容词承担定冠词的信号;无冠词 → 形容词如同 der/die/das 变格。

5. Modal Verb Frame | 情态动词框架

Modal verbs (können, müssen, dürfen, sollen, wollen, mögen/möchten) occupy the second position in a main clause, while the main verb moves to the end in the infinitive form. This ‘modal bracket’ is a core structural formula.

情态动词(können, müssen, dürfen, sollen, wollen, mögen/möchten)在主句中占据第二位,而主要动词则以不定式形式移至句末。这种“情态动词框架”是一种核心结构公式。

Formula: Subject + modal verb (conjugated) + … other elements … + main verb (infinitive). Example: Ich kann morgen das Buch lesen. All information remains inside the bracket.

公式:主语 + 情态动词(根据人称变位)+ …… 其它成分 …… + 主要动词(不定式)。例子:Ich kann morgen das Buch lesen。所有信息都被包裹在这一框架之内。

Present tense modal conjugations are irregular but follow a pattern: ich and er/sie/es forms lack an ending (ich kann, er kann). The plural forms use the usual endings (wir können, ihr könnt, sie können). Note the vowel change in müssen (du musst), dürfen (du darfst), etc.

现在时情态动词变位不规则,但遵循一定模式:ich 和 er/sie/es 形式无词尾(ich kann, er kann)。复数形式使用常规词尾(wir können, ihr könnt, sie können)。注意 müssen(du musst)、dürfen(du darfst)等词中出现的元音变化。

6. Perfect Tense Formula | 完成时公式

The perfect tense is formed with an auxiliary (haben or sein) and the past participle: haben/sein + Partizip II. This is the conversational past tense used in spoken German.

完成时由助动词(haben 或 sein)与过去分词构成:haben / sein + Partizip II。这是用于德语口语中的叙述过去时态。

Auxiliary selection formula: use sein for verbs of movement from A to B (gehen, fahren, fliegen, kommen) and for verbs indicating a change of state (aufwachen, sterben, werden, einschlafen). All other verbs (including most transitive verbs and reflexive verbs) take haben.

助动词选择公式:表示从 A 到 B 运动的动词(gehen, fahren, fliegen, kommen)以及表示状态变化的动词(aufwachen, sterben, werden, einschlafen)用 sein。其他所有动词(包括大多数及物动词和反身动词)用 haben。

Regular past participle formula: ge + stem + t (e.g. spielen → gespielt). For separable prefix verbs: prefix + ge + stem + t (aufmachen → aufgemacht). For inseparable prefix verbs (be-, er-, ver-, zer-, ent-, emp-, miss-, ge-), no ge- is added (besuchen → besucht).

规则过去分词公式:ge + 词干 + t(如 spielen → gespielt)。对于可分动词:前缀 + ge + 词干 + t(aufmachen → aufgemacht)。对于不可分前缀动词(be-, er-, ver-, zer-, ent-, emp-, miss-, ge-),不加 ge-(besuchen → besucht)。

Strong verbs have irregular participles that often end in -en and may have a stem vowel change (finden → gefunden, helfen → geholfen). Learn them as separate flashcard items.

强变化动词有不规则的过去分词,往往以 -en 结尾,并可能出现词干元音变化(finden → gefunden, helfen → geholfen)。请将它们当作单独的闪卡项目来记忆。

7. Passive Voice Conversion Rule | 被动语态转换规则

The passive is formed with werden + past participle. In the present tense: werden + Partizip II (Der Tisch wird gedeckt). Past tense: wurden + Partizip II. Perfect: sein … worden + Partizip II (Der Tisch ist gedeckt worden). Note worden never becomes geworden in the passive.

被动语态由 werden + 过去分词 构成。现在时:werden + Partizip II(Der Tisch wird gedeckt)。过去时:wurden + Partizip II。完成时:sein … worden + Partizip II(Der Tisch ist gedeckt worden)。注意在被动完成时中,worden 永远不会变成 geworden。

Active-to-passive conversion formula: the active accusative object becomes the nominative subject. The original subject becomes an optional von + dative phrase. The verb transforms according to the tense step above, while other elements retain their position.

主动转被动公式:主动句中的宾格宾语变为主格主语。原主语变为可选的 von + 与格短语。动词按上述时态规则转换,其他成分保持原有位置。

Active: Der Schüler liest das Buch. → Passive: Das Buch wird (von dem Schüler) gelesen. The formulaic swapping of roles is a powerful test-taking tool.

主动句:Der Schüler liest das Buch. → 被动句:Das Buch wird (von dem Schüler) gelesen。这种公式化的角色互换是考试中的强大工具。

8. Subordinate Clause Word Order Formula | 从句与词序公式

In a subordinate clause introduced by a conjunction (dass, weil, wenn, ob, damit, obwohl …), the conjugated verb moves to the very end of the clause. This ‘verb-last’ rule is a non-negotiable formula.

在由连词(dass, weil, wenn, ob, damit, obwohl 等)引导的从句中,变位动词移至从句的最后位置。这条“动词尾置”规则是一条不容商榷的公式。

Formula: Subordinating conjunction + subject + … other elements … + conjugated verb. Example: Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil ich morgen eine Prüfung habe. The verb habe closes the clause.

公式:从属连词 + 主语 + ……其他成分…… + 变位动词。例子:Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil ich morgen eine Prüfung habe。动词 habe 为从句收尾。

If the subordinate clause contains a separable prefix verb, the prefix remains attached to the verb at the end (e.g., weil ich das Buch zurückgebe). Modal verbs in a subordinate clause also go to the end, with the main infinitive placed directly before them (weil ich das Buch lesen muss).

如果从句中含有可分动词,前缀与动词一同留在末尾(如,weil ich das Buch zurückgebe)。从句中的情态动词同样移至末尾,主要不定式紧位于情态动词之前(weil ich das Buch lesen muss)。

When a subordinate clause precedes the main clause, the main clause starts with the conjugated verb (inversion), keeping the
