📚 Common Mistakes in IGCSE WJEC German and How to Fix Them | IGCSE WJEC 德语:常见误区与纠正方法

German can feel predictable once you understand its systems, but IGCSE WJEC candidates often lose marks on small, avoidable errors: a missing capital letter, a verb in the wrong position, or the wrong article. This revision guide collects the most common mistakes and gives you clear correction routines for each one. Use the English explanation first, then read the Chinese summary to check your understanding.

德语一旦理解其系统规律后会变得有迹可循,但 IGCSE WJEC 考生常常因一些小的、本可避免的错误而失分:漏写首字母大写、动词位置错误或冠词使用不当。本复习指南汇总了最常见的误区,并为每类错误给出清晰的纠正方法。先阅读英文解释,再对照中文总结检查理解。

1. Noun Gender and Capitalisation | 名词性别与首字母大写

Every German noun is capitalised, and its gender must be learned together with the noun. You should always learn “der Tisch”, “die Lampe” and “das Buch” as one unit, not just “Tisch”, “Lampe” and “Buch”. If you learn the article separately, you will mix up gender and case endings later.

每个德语名词都要首字母大写,并且名词的性别必须与名词一起记忆。你应该始终把 “der Tisch”、”die Lampe” 和 “das Buch” 作为一个整体来学习,而不是只记 “Tisch”、”Lampe” 和 “Buch”。如果冠词与名词分开记忆,之后就容易混淆性别和格的变化。

Some endings give reliable gender clues. For example, nouns ending in “-ung”, “-heit”, “-keit”, “-schaft” and “-tion” are usually feminine: “die Zeitung”, “die Freiheit”, “die Möglichkeit”, “die Freundschaft”, “die Information”. Nouns ending in “-chen” and “-lein” are neuter: “das Mädchen”, “das Fräulein”.

有些词尾提供可靠的性别线索。例如,以 “-ung”、”-heit”、”-keit”、”-schaft” 和 “-tion” 结尾的名词通常为阴性:”die Zeitung”、”die Freiheit”、”die Möglichkeit”、”die Freundschaft”、”die Information”。以 “-chen” 和 “-lein” 结尾的名词为中性:”das Mädchen”、”das Fräulein”。

Do not assume that the English translation tells you the German gender. For example, “the girl” is neuter in German: “das Mädchen”. “The car” can be “das Auto” or “der Wagen”. WJEC writing tasks penalise missing capital letters even when the rest of the sentence is correct, so check every noun before you move on.

不要以为英语翻译能告诉你德语名词的性别。例如,英语中 “the girl” 在德语中是中性:”das Mädchen”。”The car” 可以是 “das Auto” 或 “der Wagen”。WJEC 写作任务即使句子其他部分正确,只要名词漏写大写就会扣分,因此在继续作答前请检查每一个名词。

2. Case Confusion: Nominative, Accusative, Dative | 格混淆:主格、宾格、与格

The case shows the function of a noun in a sentence. The subject is nominative, the direct object is accusative, and the indirect object is dative. In English we often show this with word order or prepositions, but German marks it on articles and adjectives.

格表示名词在句中的功能。主语为主格,直接宾语为宾格,间接宾语为与格。英语通常用词序或介词来表示这些关系,但德语通过冠词和形容词来标记格。

A common error is using “der” for a masculine direct object. You must change “der” to “den” in the accusative: “Ich sehe den Mann” not “Ich sehe der Mann”. With masculine dative, use “dem”: “Ich gebe dem Mann das Buch”. Feminine, neuter and plural articles change less, but they still need attention.

一个常见误区是把阳性直接宾语仍写作 “der”。阳性名词在宾格时必须把 “der” 改为 “den”:”Ich sehe den Mann” 而不是 “Ich sehe der Mann”。阳性与格用 “dem”:”Ich gebe dem Mann das Buch”。阴性、中性和复数冠词变化较少,但仍需注意。

WJEC examiners reward accurate case use because it shows control of grammar. Practise article tables until you can produce “der, den, dem” and “ein, einen, einem” without hesitation. In the dative plural, add “-n” to most nouns: “mit den Freunden” not “mit den Freunde”.

WJEC 考官会奖励格的准确使用,因为这体现了语法掌控能力。练习冠词表直到你能不假思索地写出 “der, den, dem” 和 “ein, einen, einem”。与格复数时,大多数名词要加 “-n”:”mit den Freunden” 而不是 “mit den Freunde”。

3. Verb as Second Idea | 动词第二顺位规则

In a German main clause, the conjugated verb must be the second element. This does not always mean the second word; the first element can be a phrase such as “Am Montag” or “In der Schule”. After that phrase, the verb comes immediately.

在德语主句中,变位动词必须是第二个句子成分。这并不总是意味着第二个单词;第一个成分可以是如 “Am Montag” 或 “In der Schule” 这样的短语。在这个短语之后,动词必须紧跟其后。

If you begin a sentence with a time expression, the subject and verb invert. For example: “Am Montag spiele ich Fußball” not “Am Montag ich spiele Fußball”. Many English speakers copy English word order and lose marks, especially in writing and speaking.

如果句子以时间表达开头,主语和动词要倒装。例如:”Am Montag spiele ich Fußball” 而不是 “Am Montag ich spiele Fußball”。许多英语母语者会照搬英语词序,从而在写作和口语中丢分。

This rule applies to main clauses only. Subordinate clauses have a different rule, which is covered in the next section. Practise rewriting simple sentences with different first elements: “Ich gehe heute ins Kino” becomes “Heute gehe ich ins Kino”.

这条规则只适用于主句。从句有不同的规则,将在下一节中讲解。练习用不同的首成分改写简单句:”Ich gehe heute ins Kino” 改成 “Heute gehe ich ins Kino”。

4. Word Order After Subordinating Conjunctions | 从属连词后的语序

After subordinating conjunctions such as “weil”, “dass”, “obwohl”, “wenn”, “als” and “bevor”, the conjugated verb moves to the end of the clause. This is one of the highest-frequency errors in IGCSE German writing because English keeps the verb in the middle.

在 “weil”、”dass”、”obwohl”、”wenn”、”als” 和 “bevor” 等从属连词之后,变位动词要移到从句末尾。这是 IGCSE 德语写作中最高频的错误之一,因为英语会把动词留在句中。

For example: “Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil ich krank bin” not “weil ich bin krank”. The main clause verb remains in second position, but the “weil” clause sends “bin” to the end.

例如:”Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil ich krank bin” 而不是 “weil ich bin krank”。主句动词仍保持第二位置,但 “weil” 从句要把 “bin” 放到末尾。

If a separable verb appears in a subordinate clause, the prefix rejoins the stem at the end: “Ich weiß, dass ich morgen einkaufen gehe” not “dass ich einkaufen morgen gehe” or “dass ich gehe einkaufen”.

如果从句中出现可分动词,前缀会与词干在句末重新合在一起:”Ich weiß, dass ich morgen einkaufen gehe”,而不是 “dass ich einkaufen morgen gehe” 或 “dass ich gehe einkaufen”。

5. Adjective Endings | 形容词词尾变化

Adjective endings depend on the article and the case. After the definite article “der/die/das”, the weak ending is usually “-e” or “-en”: “der gute Mann”, “die gute Frau”, “das gute Kind”, “die guten Leute”.

形容词词尾取决于冠词和格。在定冠词 “der/die/das” 之后,弱变化词尾通常是 “-e” 或 “-en”:”der gute Mann”、”die gute Frau”、”das gute Kind”、”die guten Leute”。

After “ein/eine/ein” or a possessive article such as “mein”, the ending is mixed because the article itself does not always show the gender clearly. In the nominative you use “ein guter Mann”, “eine gute Frau”, “ein gutes Kind”.

在 “ein/eine/ein” 或 “mein” 等物主冠词之后,词尾为混合变化,因为冠词本身并不总能清楚显示性别。主格时用 “ein guter Mann”、”eine gute Frau”、”ein gutes Kind”。

Without any article, the adjective takes the strong ending that shows the gender and case: “guter Mann”, “gute Frau”, “gutes Kind”. In the dative case, adjectives almost always end in “-en”: “mit dem guten Mann”, “mit einem guten Mann”.

没有冠词时,形容词要使用能体现性别和格的强变化词尾:”guter Mann”、”gute Frau”、”gutes Kind”。在与格中,形容词几乎总是以 “-en” 结尾:”mit dem guten Mann”、”mit einem guten Mann”。

Do not leave the adjective in its base form. Even if the sentence is understandable, missing endings are a common WJEC accuracy error. After “das” or “ein” neuter nominative, add “-es”: “das kleine Haus”, “ein kleines Haus”.

不要只写形容词原形。即使句子可以理解,漏掉词尾也是 WJEC 常见的准确性错误。在 “das” 或 “ein” 中性主格后,要加 “-es”:”das kleine Haus”、”ein kleines Haus”。

6. Preposition and Case Collocations | 介词与格搭配

Some prepositions always take the dative, and you should learn them as a rhythm: “aus”, “außer”, “bei”, “mit”, “nach”, “seit”, “von”, “zu” and “gegenüber”. For example: “mit dem Auto”, “nach der Schule”, “bei meiner Tante”.

有些介词永远支配与格,你应该像记口诀一样把它们记住:”aus”、”außer”、”bei”、”mit”、”nach”、”seit”、”von”、”zu” 和 “gegenüber”。例如:”mit dem Auto”、”nach der Schule”、”bei meiner Tante”。

Other prepositions always take the accusative: “durch”, “für”, “ohne”, “um”, “gegen” and “bis”. For example: “für den Lehrer”, “ohne meinen Bruder”, “um die Ecke”.

另一些介词永远支配宾格:”durch”、”für”、”ohne”、”um”、”gegen” 和 “bis”。例如:”für den Lehrer”、”ohne meinen Bruder”、”um die Ecke”。

The two-way prepositions “in”, “an”, “auf”, “unter”, “über”, “vor”, “hinter”, “neben” and “zwischen” take the dative when describing location and the accusative when describing movement. Compare “Ich bin in der Schule” and “Ich gehe in die Schule”.

双向介词 “in”、”an”、”auf”、”unter”、”über”、”vor”、”hinter”、”neben” 和 “zwischen” 表示位置时支配与格,表示方向移动时支配宾格。比较 “Ich bin in der Schule” 与 “Ich gehe in die Schule”。

7. Tense Formation: Perfect vs Imperfect | 时态构成:现在完成时与过去时

In spoken and informal written German, the perfect tense is used to talk about the past. It is formed with “haben” or “sein” plus a past participle at the end: “Ich habe Fußball gespielt” and “Ich bin nach Hause gegangen”.

在德语口语和非正式书面语中,过去发生的事情通常用现在完成时表达。它由 “haben” 或 “sein” 加上句末的过去分词构成:”Ich habe Fußball gespielt” 与 “Ich bin nach Hause gegangen”。

Use “sein” as the auxiliary for verbs showing movement from one place to another or a change of state: “gehen”, “fahren”, “fliegen”, “aufstehen”, “werden”, “bleiben” and “passieren”. For example: “Er ist heute früh aufgestanden”.

表示位置移动或状态变化的动词要用 “sein” 作助动词:”gehen”、”fahren”、”fliegen”、”aufstehen”、”werden”、”bleiben” 和 “passieren”。例如:”Er ist heute früh aufgestanden”。

Weak verbs form the past participle with “ge-” + stem + “-t”: “spielen” becomes “gespielt”, “machen” becomes “gemacht”. Strong verbs change the stem vowel and often end in “-en”: “schreiben” becomes “geschrieben”, “helfen” becomes “geholfen”.

弱变化动词的过去分词由 “ge-” + 词干 + “-t” 构成:”spielen” 变 “gespielt”、”machen” 变 “gemacht”。强变化动词会改变词干元音,通常以 “-en” 结尾:”schreiben” 变 “geschrieben”、”helfen” 变 “geholfen”。

For WJEC writing, you do not need to use the imperfect tense for every verb, but you should know “hatte”, “war”, “konnte”, “musste” and “wollte” for higher-level narrative work. Do not overuse “habe gehabt” when “hatte” is simpler and more natural.

在 WJEC 写作中,你不必每个动词都用过去时,但更高水平的叙述应掌握 “hatte”、”war”、”konnte”、”musste” 和 “wollte”。不要过度使用 “habe gehabt”,用 “hatte” 更简单自然。

8. Separable and Inseparable Verbs | 可分动词与不可分动词

Separable verbs have prefixes that detach in main clauses. Common separable prefixes are “ab-“, “an-“, “auf-“, “aus-“, “ein-“, “mit-“, “nach-“, “vor-” and “zu-“. In the present tense main clause, the prefix moves to the end: “Ich stehe um 7 Uhr auf” from “aufstehen”.

可分动词的前缀在主句中会分离。常见的可分前缀有 “ab-“、”an-“、”auf-“、”aus-“、”ein-“、”mit-“、”nach-“、”vor-” 和 “zu-“。在现在时主句中,前缀移到句末:”Ich stehe um 7 Uhr auf” 源自 “aufstehen”。

Inseparable prefixes such as “be-“, “emp-“, “ent-“, “er-“, “ge-“, “miss-“, “ver-” and “zer-” never separate. For example: “besuchen” becomes “Ich besuche”, not “Ich suche be”. The past participle also has no “ge-“: “besucht”, “verstanden”, “erklärt”.

“be-“、”emp-“、”ent-“、”er-“、”ge-“、”miss-“、”ver-” 和 “zer-” 等不可分前缀永不分离。例如:”besuchen” 变 “Ich besuche”,而不是 “Ich suche be”。其过去分词也不加 “ge-“:”besucht”、”verstanden”、”erklärt”。

In the perfect tense of separable verbs, the “ge-” goes between the prefix and the stem: “aufstehen” becomes “aufgestanden”, “einkaufen” becomes “eingekauft”. In a subordinate clause, the prefix stays attached at the end: “weil ich aufstehe”.

可分动词的现在完成时中,”ge-” 放在前缀和词干之间:”aufstehen” 变 “aufgestanden”、”einkaufen” 变 “eingekauft”。在从句中,前缀保持连接并位于句末:”weil ich aufstehe”。

9. False Friends and Common Vocabulary Errors | 假朋友与常见词汇错误

German and English share many words that look similar but mean different things. “bekommen” means “to receive”, not “to become”. The German verb for “to become” is “werden”: “Ich bekomme einen Brief” means “I receive a letter”, while “Ich werde Arzt” means “I become a doctor”.

德语和英语有许多形似但含义不同的词。”bekommen” 意为 “收到”,而不是 “成为”。德语中表示 “成为” 的动词是 “werden”:”Ich bekomme einen Brief” 意为 “我收到一封信”,而 “Ich werde Arzt” 意为 “我成为一名医生”。

Other false friends include “der Chef” meaning “boss” or “manager”, not “chef”; “das Gift” meaning “poison”, not “gift”; “aktuell” meaning “current”, not “actual”; and “die Rente” meaning “pension”, not “rent”.

其他假朋友包括 “der
