The Cambridge IGCSE Geography syllabus tests both geographical knowledge and the ability to apply it to unfamiliar contexts. Case study responses must include specific numbers, such as Haiti’s magnitude 7.0 earthquake in 2010 causing over 200,000 deaths, or the Tōhoku magnitude 9.0 event generating a tsunami over 10 m high. Vague answers without data cannot reach the top mark bands.
