Many IGCSE Cambridge Psychology candidates lose marks not because they lack knowledge, but because they carry misunderstandings about what psychology is and how psychological research should be interpreted. This article identifies the most common misconceptions in the syllabus and shows how to replace each one with an exam-ready correction.

For example, Asch found that about 37% of critical responses conformed to an obviously wrong group judgement, which is not predictable by common sense alone.

Quantitative data are easier to summarise, compare and analyse statistically, but they may lack depth.
