📚 IGCSE CCEA Politics: Exam Technique and Mark Schemes | CCEA 政治:答题技巧与评分标准

Exam success in CCEA politics depends on more than recalling facts. You need to understand how the mark scheme turns assessment objectives into levels, and then shape every paragraph to meet that demand. This guide breaks down command words, level-of-response marking, planning, paragraph structure, use of examples, evaluation, source questions and common errors.

CCEA 政治考试的成功不只靠记忆事实。你需要理解评分方案如何把评估目标转化为等级,并让每一段都满足这些要求。本文分解指令词、分层评分、规划、段落结构、案例运用、评估、材料题和常见错误。

1. Assessment Objectives – What Is Being Measured? | 评分目标:考查什么

In CCEA politics papers, marks are awarded against assessment objectives (AOs). AO1 tests knowledge and understanding of political concepts, institutions and processes. AO2 tests how well you can apply this knowledge to analyse political information. AO3 tests evaluation: your ability to weigh arguments and reach a justified judgement.

CCEA 政治试卷按评估目标给分。AO1 考查政治概念、制度与过程的知识和理解。AO2 考查运用知识分析政治信息的能力。AO3 考查评估能力,即权衡不同论点并得出有理据判断的能力。

You should not treat questions as invitations to write everything you know. Instead, match your answer to the AO demand: a ‘describe’ question is largely AO1, while an ‘evaluate’ question requires all three AOs working together.

不要将题目当作写出所有知识的邀请。相反,要针对评估目标作答:’describe’ 题主要考查 AO1,而 ‘evaluate’ 题通常需要同时展现 AO1、AO2 和 AO3。

2. Command Words and What They Require | 指令词及其要求

Command words tell you the skill required. ‘Identify’ and ‘state’ need brief recall; ‘describe’ needs factual detail; ‘explain’ needs reasons or causes; ‘discuss’ needs two sides; ‘evaluate’ needs a supported judgement.

指令词告诉你需要展示的技能。’Identify/state’ 要求简要回忆;’describe’ 要求事实细节;’explain’ 要求给出原因或成因;’discuss’ 要求呈现两面;’evaluate’ 要求给出有依据的判断。

Command word Expected response 中文对应
Identify/State Short factual answer 简短事实回答
Describe Give features or characteristics 描述特征
Explain Give reasons, causes or effects 解释原因、成因或影响
Discuss Present both sides 讨论正反两面
Evaluate Judge, with criteria and evidence 依据标准与证据作出判断

Before you write, circle the command word and rewrite it in your own words. If the question says ‘evaluate’, your answer must end with a judgement, not just stop after two paragraphs of description.

动笔前圈出指令词,用自己的话改写它。如果题目说 ‘evaluate’,你的答案必须以判断结尾,而不是写完两段描述就停。

3. How Mark Schemes Are Structured | 评分方案的结构

CCEA mark schemes often divide marks into levels, not point-by-point right answers. A top-level response shows accurate knowledge, developed analysis and a clear conclusion. Lower levels show description without analysis or unsupported claims.

CCEA 评分方案通常将分数划分为等级,而不是逐点标准答案。最高等级的回答展示准确知识、展开的分析和清晰的结论。较低等级通常只是描述,缺乏分析或没有论据支撑。

Examiners first place an answer in a band, then adjust within the band. The band descriptor is more important than ticking vocabulary. This means you can still score well if your argument is clear even if a fact is missing.

考官先把答案放进某个分数段,再在段内调整分数。等级描述比逐词打分更重要。这意味着即使缺一个事实,只要论证清晰,你仍可获得高分。

4. Level-of-Response Marking Explained | 分层评分解释

To reach the top level, you must do three things consistently: answer the question set, support each point with accurate political knowledge, and comment on significance, comparison or outcome. A paragraph that drifts into general knowledge will stay in the middle band.

要达到最高等级,你必须持续做到三件事:紧扣题目作答、每个论点都有准确政治知识支撑、并说明意义、比较或结果。偏离题目空谈常识的段落只能停留在中间等级。

Use the mark tariff as a clue to depth. A 6-mark question requires a developed point plus example; a 10-mark question requires at least two developed points and an evaluation.

用分值判断深度。6 分题通常需要一个展开的论点加案例;10 分题至少需要两个展开的论点以及评估。

5. Timing and Mark Allocation | 时间与分值分配

Plan time by marks: divide the total marks by the minutes available. For example, if a paper has 60 marks and 90 minutes, allow 1.5 minutes per mark. A 12-mark question should take around 18 minutes.

按分值分配时间:总分除以可用分钟数。例如,如果试卷 60 分、90 分钟,每分 1.5 分钟。一道 12 分题大约用 18 分钟。

Leave time for planning and checking. For essay-style questions, spend about 20% of the time planning, 70% writing, and 10% checking. This improves structure and reduces factual slips.

留出规划和检查时间。对论述类题目,大约 20% 时间规划、70% 时间写作、10% 时间检查。这样能改进结构并减少事实错误。

6. Planning Before You Write | 动笔前先规划

Before writing, underline the command word and key concepts in the question. Turn the question into a mini-plan: what do I need to explain, what evidence will I use, and what judgement will I reach?

动笔前,划出题目中的指令词和核心概念。把题目变成一个小提纲:我需要解释什么、使用什么证据、得出什么判断?

A simple plan can be three to five bullet points, not full sentences. Planning prevents repetition and keeps your answer relevant. An unplanned answer often wanders and repeats the same idea.

简单提纲可以只是三到五个要点,不必写完整句子。规划能避免重复并保持答题切题。没有规划的答案往往跑题或重复同一观点。

7. Structuring Analytical Paragraphs | 分析性段落结构

Use a clear paragraph structure such as PEE: Point, Evidence, Explanation. For evaluation, add a ‘judgement’ step. Each paragraph should start with a topic sentence that answers the question directly.

使用清晰的段落结构,如 PEE:观点、证据、解释。对评估题,再加一步 ‘判断’。每段以直接回应题目的主题句开头。

Avoid writing one giant paragraph. In a 10-mark question, two or three focused paragraphs with one idea each score better than a long block of unsorted information. Connect paragraphs with words like ‘however’, ‘therefore’, ‘in contrast’.

避免写成一个庞大的段落。在 10 分题中,两到三个各有中心、聚焦的段落比一大段杂乱信息更容易得分。使用 ‘however’、’therefore’、’in contrast’ 等连接词衔接段落。

8. Using Examples and Evidence Effectively | 有效运用案例与证据

CCEA politics rewards relevant, specific examples. Instead of saying ‘many countries have turnout problems’, write ‘in the 2024 UK general election, turnout was around 60%, showing persistent participation gaps’.

CCEA 政治奖励相关且具体的例子。与其说 ‘许多国家都有投票率问题’,不如写 ‘2024 年英国大选投票率约为 60%,显示出持续的政治参与差距’。

Choose examples from different levels: local, national, international, and from different sources such as elections, legislation, court cases, or pressure group campaigns. Do not overload; one precise example per point is enough.

选择不同层面的例子:地方、国家、国际,以及选举、立法、法院判例或压力团体运动等不同来源。不要堆砌,每个论点一个精准的例子足矣。

When you use an example, connect it to the question in the same sentence or the next sentence. The examiner should see why the example matters, not just that you know it.

使用例子时,在同一句或下一句把它与题目联系起来。考官应该看到这个例子的重要性,而不仅仅是你知道它。

9. Evaluation and Balanced Argument | 评估与平衡论证

Evaluation means making a judgement, not just describing two views. Use phrases like ‘this is more significant because…’ or ‘this view is stronger in the short term, but weaker in the long term’. Always link back to the question.

评估意味着作出判断,而不只是描述两种观点。使用 ‘这一点更重要,因为……’ 或 ‘这一观点短期更有力,但长期较弱’ 等表述。始终回扣题目。

A balanced answer gives counterarguments before reaching a conclusion. Examiners look for ‘weighing’, not just a list of pros and cons. End with a clear judgement that follows from your analysis.

平衡的答案先给出反方论点,再得出结论。考官看重的是 ‘权衡’,而不是简单罗列优缺点。最后要给出从分析中自然得出的明确判断。

10. Source and Data-Response Questions | 材料题与数据题

In source-based questions, cite the source directly: ‘Source A shows…’ or ‘According to Source B…’. Use the source to support your point, then add your own knowledge to develop it.

材料题中,直接引用材料:’材料 A 显示……’ 或 ‘根据材料 B……’。用材料支持论点,再补充自己的知识加以展开。

For data-response questions, identify trends, contrasts and anomalies. Do not merely repeat numbers. Explain what the data suggest about political behaviour or attitudes.

数据题中,找出趋势、对比和异常值。不要只复述数字。解释数据所反映的政治行为或态度。

11. Common Mistakes and Final Checklist | 常见错误与最终检查

Common mistakes: misreading command words, writing general knowledge, ignoring source evidence, running out of time, and leaving no conclusion. After writing, check that every paragraph answers the exact question.

常见错误包括:误读指令词、写常识性空话、忽略材料证据、时间不够、没有结论。写完后检查每段是否都准确回应题目。

Final checklist: underline key words; plan; use specific examples; analyse and evaluate; include a judgement; manage time; leave 2 minutes to check spelling of political terms and names.

最终检查清单:划出关键词;列提纲;使用具体例子;分析与评估;给出判断;管理时间;留 2 分钟检查政治术语和人名的拼写。
