1. Subject Content Overview | 内容总览

The AQA A-level Chemistry specification is divided into three broad areas: physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry and organic chemistry. These areas are not taught as isolated blocks; instead, they are interlinked through overarching concepts such as bonding, energetics and the behaviour of chemical species.

AQA A-Level 化学大纲分为三大领域:物理化学、无机化学和有机化学。这些领域并非孤立教学,而是通过化学键、能量学及化学物种行为等核心概念相互关联。

Physical chemistry covers the quantitative and theoretical foundations: atomic structure, amount of substance, bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibria and redox processes. Inorganic chemistry explores the periodic table, groups 2 and 7, period 3 elements and transition metals. Organic chemistry includes the chemistry of alkanes, alkenes, alcohols, aromatic compounds, polymers, amino acids and many functional-group transformations.

Paper 1 is a two-hour written examination worth 105 marks, constituting 35% of the A-level. It focuses on relevant sections of physical chemistry (1.1–1.7) and all inorganic chemistry (2.1–2.6), together with the associated practical skills.
