Integers include positive numbers, negative numbers, and zero. On a number line, numbers to the right are greater than numbers to the left. For example, −3 is less than −1 because −3 lies further left.

2. Order of Operations | 运算顺序
Always follow BIDMAS / PEMDAS: Brackets, Indices, Division and Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction. Work from left to right for operations of equal priority.

2 + 3 × 4² = 2 + 3 × 16 = 2 + 48 = 50
Notice that if you simply work left to right without following the order, you get a different wrong answer: (2 + 3) × 4² = 5 × 16 = 80.

3. Fractions: Equivalent and Simplified | 分数:等价与最简
Two fractions are equivalent if they represent the same part of a whole. To simplify a fraction, divide both numerator and denominator by their greatest common factor (GCF).
两个分数如果表示同一个整体的相同部分,则它们等价。化简分数时,用分子和分母的最大公因数 (GCF) 同时除以它们。
18/24 = (18 ÷ 6)/(24 ÷ 6) = 3/4
To add or subtract fractions, first rewrite them with a common denominator.

To multiply fractions, multiply numerators and denominators directly.

4. Decimals and Place Value | 小数与位值
Every digit in a decimal has a place value: tenths, hundredths, thousandths, and so on. The first digit after the decimal point is tenths, the second is hundredths.

0.375 = 3/10 + 7/100 + 5/1000 = 375/1000
When multiplying decimals, count the total number of decimal places in both factors and place the decimal point accordingly.

A percentage is a fraction out of 100. To find a percentage of a quantity, multiply the quantity by the decimal equivalent of the percentage.

15% of 80 = 0.15 × 80 = 12
To express one quantity as a percentage of another, divide the first by the second, then multiply by 100.

A ratio compares two or more quantities of the same kind. Simplify a ratio by dividing all parts by their common factor.

In direct proportion, two quantities increase or decrease at the same rate. If y is directly proportional to x, then y = kx for some constant k.

7. Algebraic Expressions and Like Terms | 代数式与同类项
A variable is a symbol that represents an unknown number. Algebraic expressions combine numbers and variables using operations. Like terms have exactly the same variable part.

3x + 2y − x + 5y = (3x − x) + (2y + 5y) = 2x + 7y
To evaluate an expression, substitute the given value for the variable.

Example: evaluate 4a − 3b when a = 2 and b = 1 gives 8 − 3 = 5.

Never combine different variables as one term.

8. Solving Linear Equations | 解线性方程
To solve an equation, do the same operation on both sides until the variable is alone. Always check your solution by substituting it back.

2x + 5 = 17 → 2x = 12 → x = 6
If the variable appears on both sides, first gather the variable terms on one side and constants on the other.

The perimeter is the total distance around a shape. The area is the amount of space inside a shape, measured in square units.

| Triangle | Area = ½ × base × height |
| Circle | Area = πr² |
Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 × (length + width)
For a circle, circumference = 2πr. Use π ≈ 3.14 or 22/7 unless specified otherwise.

10. Statistics: Mean, Median, Mode, Range | 统计:平均数、中位数、众数、极差
For a data set, the mean is the sum of values divided by the number of values. The median is the middle value when data are sorted. The mode is the most frequent value. The range is the difference between the largest and smallest values.
对于一组数据,平均数是数据总和除以数据个数。中位数是排序后的中间值。众数是出现最多的值。极差是最大值与最小值之差。
Data: 4, 7, 7, 9, 13 → Mean = 40 ÷ 5 = 8; Median = 7; Mode = 7; Range = 9
If there is an even number of values, the median is the average of the two middle values.

Example: 2, 5, 8, 9 → median = (5+8) ÷ 2 = 6.5

Mean is affected by outliers; median is more stable.

11. Angles and Parallel Lines | 角与平行线
When a transversal intersects two parallel lines, corresponding angles are equal, alternate angles are equal, and interior angles on the same side sum to 180°.

Angles on a straight line sum to 180°; angles around a point sum to 360°
A triangle has an interior angle sum of 180°. A quadrilateral has an interior angle sum of 360°.

12. Probability Basics | 概率基础
Probability measures how likely an event is to happen. It always lies between 0 and 1 inclusive. A probability of 0 means impossible, and 1 means certain.
概率衡量事件发生的可能性。它的值总在0到1之间(包含0和1)。概率为0表示不可能发生,为1表示必然发生。
P(event) = number of favourable outcomes ÷ total number of equally likely outcomes
If all outcomes are equally likely, the sum of the probabilities of all outcomes is 1.

Example: rolling a fair dice, P(odd number) = 3/6 = 1/2.
