📚 IGCSE Cambridge Philosophy: Answering Techniques and Marking Criteria | IGCSE 剑桥哲学:答题技巧与评分标准

Philosophy is not just about expressing opinions; it is a disciplined engagement with reasons, definitions, and arguments. In the Cambridge IGCSE Philosophy examination, success depends on understanding the mark scheme and applying targeted answering techniques that show your ability to think clearly and critically.

哲学并非仅仅是表达观点,而是对理由、定义和论证的系统性探讨。在剑桥 IGCSE 哲学考试中,成功取决于理解评分标准,并运用有针对性的答题技巧,以展示你清晰、批判性思考的能力。

1. Understanding the Assessment Objectives | 了解评估目标

Cambridge IGCSE Philosophy is marked through Assessment Objectives. AO1 tests your knowledge and understanding of philosophical theories and concepts; AO2 tests your ability to analyse and evaluate arguments; AO3 tests your clarity of expression and accurate use of technical language.

剑桥 IGCSE 哲学通过评估目标评分。AO1 考查你对哲学理论与概念的知识和理解;AO2 考查你分析与评价论证的能力;AO3 考查你表达的清晰度与术语使用的准确性。

To reach the highest bands, you must address all three objectives in every essay. A response that only summarises a philosopher’s view may receive credit for AO1, but without critical discussion it will remain in the lower mark band for AO2 and AO3.

要在最高分档中获得成绩,你必须在每篇论文中同时满足这三项目标。只概述哲学家观点的回答可能获得 AO1 的分数,但如果没有批判性讨论,它在 AO2 和 AO3 方面仍将停留在较低分数档。

When you write, ask yourself: “Have I shown enough knowledge? Have I given reasons and counter-reasons? Have I used the precise vocabulary of philosophy?” This self-check will keep your answer balanced.

写作时,请自问:“我是否展示了足够的知识?我是否给出了理由和反驳理由?我是否使用了精确的哲学术语?”这种自我检查能让你的回答保持均衡。

2. The Mark Bands: From Level 1 to Level 4 | 分数档:从一级到四级

In many Cambridge IGCSE Philosophy mark schemes, extended answers are placed in level bands. A Level 1 response usually gives a simple point or a personal opinion without justification; a Level 4 response contains a sustained, critical and well-structured argument.

在剑桥 IGCSE 哲学的许多评分标准中,论文式回答被归入不同分数档。一级回答通常只给出一个简单观点或无理由的个人意见;四级回答则包含持续、批判且结构严谨的论证。

To move from Level 2 to Level 3, you need to develop ideas and refer to specific philosophical arguments. To reach Level 4, you must weigh competing views and reach a reasoned conclusion.

要从二级提升到三级,你需要展开观点并引用具体的哲学论证。要达到四级,你必须权衡不同观点并得出有理据的结论。

The best way to understand these bands is to look at real mark schemes. Mark schemes show where credit is given for knowledge, analysis and evaluation, so you can see exactly what a top-band answer looks like.

理解分数档的最佳途径是查看真实的评分标准。评分标准会标出知识、分析和评价分别在何处给分,因此你能清楚地看到高分答案是什么样子。

3. Decoding Command Words | 解析指令词

The command word determines the depth and style of your answer. Recognising what each word asks you to do is the first step to a focused response.

指令词决定了回答的深度和风格。识别每个词要求你做什么,是写出紧扣题目的回答的第一步。

  • “Explain” means give a clear account of something, showing understanding of the reasoning behind it.

    “Explain” 意味着给出清晰的说明,并展示对其背后推理的理解。

  • “Discuss” means present different viewpoints and examine their strengths and weaknesses before reaching a judgement.

    “Discuss” 意味着呈现不同观点,并在得出结论前检视它们的优劣。

  • “Evaluate” means weigh arguments critically, compare their validity and state a justified verdict.

    “Evaluate” 意味着批判性地权衡论证,比较其有效性,并给出有依据的判断。

  • “Identify” requires you to isolate a specific concept, claim or argument from the question or source.

    “Identify” 要求你从问题或文本中辨识出特定的概念、主张或论证。

If the command word is “assess”, you should make a judgement. If it is “describe”, you should focus on the structure of a theory rather than on your personal position.

如果指令词是 “assess”(评估),你应该作出判断;如果是 “describe”(描述),你应聚焦于理论的结构而不是个人立场。

4. Building a Strong Essay Structure | 构建有力的论文结构

A clear structure is essential. Start with an introduction that defines key terms and states the question you will answer. Then develop each argument in its own paragraph, with reasons and examples. Finish with a conclusion that summarises your judgement.

清晰的结构至关重要。开头应定义关键术语并明确你要回答的问题;随后,每个论证都用独立段落展开,并附上理由和实例;结尾则要总结你的判断。

Each body paragraph should contain one main idea. A topic sentence at the start tells the reader what the paragraph is about, and the rest of the paragraph develops that idea with a reason and an example.

每个主体段落应包含一个中心思想。段落开头的主题句告诉读者此段要讲什么,段落其余部分则用理由和例子展开这个思想。

Your conclusion should do more than repeat your introduction. It should present your final verdict, explain why you have reached it, and briefly acknowledge the strongest objection you have considered.

你的结论不应只是重复引言。它应提出你的最终判断,解释你为何得出该结论,并简要承认你所考虑过的最强反驳。

5. Introducing Arguments and Counter-Arguments | 提出论证与反驳

Philosophy is dialogical. The best essays present at least two competing arguments, then show why one is more persuasive. Use the phrase “one could object that…” to introduce a counter-argument before responding to it.

哲学是对话式的。最好的论文会呈现至少两个对立的论证,然后说明为什么其中一个更有说服力。可以用 “one could object that…” 来引出反方观点,然后再对之加以回应。

Always explain why the counter-argument fails or how the original argument can be modified to meet it. This demonstrates the analytical thinking that awards higher marks.

务必解释反方论证为何失败,或者原论证如何被修改以应对该反驳。这能展示赢得高分所需的分析性思维。

For example, if you are answering about free will, first present the determinist argument, then present the libertarian objection, and finally explain why one side appears stronger after the exchange.

例如,如果回答关于自由意志的问题,可先呈现决定论论证,再呈现自由意志论者的反驳,最后解释为什么经过交锋后某一方显得更有力。

6. Using Philosophical Terminology and Examples | 使用哲学术语与实例

Precision of language is part of the mark scheme. Use terms such as empirical, a priori, utilitarian, autonomy and necessary truth accurately. For example, “Kantian ethics is deontological because it judges actions by duty, not consequences.”

语言的精确性本身就是评分标准的一部分。准确使用 empirical(经验)、a priori(先验)、utilitarian(功利主义的)、autonomy(自律)和 necessary truth(必然真理)等术语。例如,“康德伦理学是义务论的,因为它按义务而非后果判断行为。”

Concrete examples make abstract arguments understandable. When discussing free will, refer to a genuine moral choice; when discussing perception, use an optical illusion. Always connect the example back to the philosophical point.

具体例子能使抽象论证变得可理解。讨论自由意志时,可举一个真实的道德选择;讨论知觉时,可使用视错觉。始终要将例子与哲学论点连接起来。

Avoid using the same example as every other candidate. A unique and well-explained example, such as a thought experiment from the syllabus, can make your answer stand out.

避免使用与其他考生相同的例子。一个独特且解释充分的例子,例如课纲中的思想实验,能让你的答案脱颖而出。

7. Handling Source-Based Questions | 处理基于文本的问题

Some questions begin with an excerpt or a quotation. Read the source carefully and identify the main claim, the reasons given, and any hidden assumptions. Then relate your answer directly to the source, using short quotations.

有些题目以摘录或引文开头。请仔细阅读文本,识别主要主张、给出的理由以及可能的隐含假设。然后用简短引用把你的回答直接与文本联系起来。

Do not simply reproduce the source. Your task is to interpret it, evaluate it and connect it to the philosophical issue in the question. In your conclusion, indicate whether you agree with the author and why.

不要简单复述文本。你的任务是阐释它、评价它,并把它与题目中的哲学议题联系起来。在结论中,应表明你是否同意作者观点及理由。

When quoting, use quotation marks and cite the source in your own words. A short quotation is powerful, but a long quotation wastes time and does not show understanding.

引用时,请使用引号,并用你自己的话说明出处。短暂的引用很有力量,但冗长的引用既浪费时间,又不能展示理解。

8. Common Pitfalls to Avoid | 避免常见错误

Many candidates lose marks for avoidable mistakes. Here are the most common traps.

许多考生因可避免的错误而失分。以下是最常见的陷阱。
