1. What Are Simultaneous Equations? | 什么是联立方程组?

A system of simultaneous equations contains two or more equations that use the same variables. A solution must satisfy every equation in the system at the same time. For two linear equations, the solution is the point where the two straight lines intersect.

联立方程组是包含两个或更多、共享相同变量的方程集合。方程组的解必须同时满足组内的每一个方程。对于两个线性方程,解就是两条直线相交点的坐标。

For example, consider the system below.

例如,考虑下面的方程组。

x + y = 10
x − y = 4

Adding the two equations gives 2x = 14, so x = 7. Substituting back gives y = 3. The solution is x = 7, y = 3.

将两个方程相加得到 2x = 14,因此 x = 7。代回原方程可得 y = 3。解为 x = 7,y = 3。
