📚 English Writing Task Types and Solution Strategies | 英语写作题型分类与解题策略
English writing exams can feel unpredictable, but in reality, most tasks fall into a limited set of types. Once you recognise the pattern behind each prompt, you can apply a clear strategy and write with confidence.
英语写作考试看似变化多端,但绝大多数题目都可以归入有限的几类题型。一旦你识别出每道题背后的模式,就能运用清晰的策略,自信地完成写作。
1. Opinion Essay | 观点议论文
An opinion essay asks you to take a clear stance on a debatable topic. You must support your view with reasons and examples, while acknowledging the opposing side.
观点议论文要求你对一个有争议的话题表明明确立场。你必须用理由和例证支持自己的观点,同时也要承认对立方的合理性。
-
State your position clearly in the introduction.
在引言中明确表达你的立场。
-
Use one paragraph for each supporting reason.
每写一个支持理由时,使用一个独立段落。
-
Include a concession sentence to show balance.
加入一个让步句,显示论证的平衡性。
Structure: Introduction → Reason 1 → Reason 2 → Concession → Conclusion
结构:引言 → 理由一 → 理由二 → 让步 → 结论
2. Discursive Essay | 讨论型议论文
A discursive essay presents both sides of an issue without necessarily forcing you to choose one. The examiner looks for balanced arguments and clear organisation.
讨论型议论文需要呈现某个问题的正反两面,而不一定强迫你选择其中一方。考官考查的是论证是否平衡、结构是否清晰。
Begin by introducing the topic and explaining why it is debated. Then present one side, followed by the other side, with equal weight given to each.
首先引入话题,并解释为什么它存在争议。然后呈现一方观点,接着以对等的分量呈现另一方观点。
Use linking words such as ‘on the one hand’ and ‘on the other hand’. These signal to the reader that you are considering multiple perspectives.
使用类似“on the one hand”和“on the other hand”的连接词。这些词语向读者表明你正在考虑多个角度。
3. Problem-Solution Essay | 问题解决型作文
This task presents a social, environmental, or personal problem. Your job is to explain the causes and propose practical solutions.
这类题目给出一个社会、环境或个人问题。你的任务是解释原因并提出切实可行的解决方案。
For each solution, state how it works and why it is effective. Avoid vague suggestions such as ‘the government should do something’.
对于每个解决方案,说明它是如何运作的,以及为什么有效。避免诸如“政府应该做点什么”这样的模糊建议。
A strong structure is: Problem → Causes → Solution 1 → Solution 2 → Evaluation.
一个扎实的结构是:问题 → 原因 → 解决方案一 → 解决方案二 → 评价。
4. For and Against Essay | 利弊型作文
This type asks you to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of a trend, technology, or policy. It differs from a discursive essay because it focuses specifically on positive and negative effects.
这类题目要求你权衡某种趋势、技术或政策的利与弊。它与讨论型文章不同,因为它专门聚焦于积极和消极影响。
| Advantages 优点 | Disadvantages 缺点 |
| Increased efficiency 提高效率 | Loss of jobs 岗位流失 |
| Better access to information 更容易获取信息 | Privacy concerns 隐私问题 |
End with a reasoned judgment, not just a list. Your final paragraph should say which side is stronger and why.
结尾要给出有理由的判断,而不只是罗列清单。你的最后一段应说明哪一方更有力,以及原因是什么。
5. Letter Writing | 书信写作
Letters can be formal or informal. Formal letters include complaints, applications, and enquiries. Informal letters are written to friends or family.
书信可分为正式和非正式。正式信函包括投诉信、申请信和咨询信。非正式信函则是写给朋友或家人的。
Formal letters must begin with ‘Dear Sir or Madam’ or ‘Dear Mr Smith’. The tone should be polite and professional. Informal letters can begin with ‘Dear Tom’ or ‘Hi Sarah’.
正式信函必须以“Dear Sir or Madam”或“Dear Mr Smith”开头,语气应礼貌专业。非正式信函可以用“Dear Tom”或“Hi Sarah”开头。
-
Check whether the prompt asks for a formal or informal register.
检查题目要求的是正式还是非正式语域。
-
Use appropriate opening and closing phrases.
使用恰当的开头和结尾用语。
-
Keep paragraphs short and purposeful.
保持段落简短而目的明确。
6. Email Writing | 邮件写作
Email tasks are common in digital-age exams. They test the same skills as letters, but with a more modern format and often a slightly more relaxed tone.
邮件写作在数字化时代的考试中非常常见。它考查的技能与书信相同,但格式更现代,语气通常也稍显轻松。
Always include a subject line. In an exam, this may be given, but if not, create a short and clear one.
务必包含主题行。考试中可能会给出主题行,如果没有,请自己拟一个简短清晰的标题。
The body of the email should have a greeting, a clear main message, and a closing. Avoid emojis or very casual abbreviations unless the prompt explicitly allows them.
邮件正文应包括问候语、明确的中心信息和结束语。除非题目明确允许,否则避免使用表情符号或过于随意的缩写。
7. Article Writing | 文章写作
Articles are written for a magazine, website, or school newspaper. They aim to engage the reader with an interesting topic and a strong voice.
文章是为杂志、网站或校报撰写的。它们旨在用有趣的话题和鲜明的笔调吸引读者。
An article usually has a catchy title, an engaging introduction, several themed paragraphs, and a concluding thought or call to action.
文章通常有一个吸引人的标题、引人入胜的引言、几个主题段落,以及一个总结性的思考或行动呼吁。
Use rhetorical questions to involve the reader. For example: ‘Would you give up your phone for a week?’ This creates immediate engagement.
使用反问句来调动读者。例如:“你愿意一周不碰手机吗?”这能立即产生互动感。
8. Report Writing | 报告写作
A report is factual and organised. It presents information, findings, or suggestions to a specific audience such as a manager, teacher, or committee.
报告是事实性、组织性很强的文体。它向特定读者如经理、教师或委员会呈现信息、发现或建议。
Reports typically include headings, bullet points, and numbered sections. The tone should be objective and impersonal.
报告通常包含标题、要点和编号段落。语气应客观、非个人化。
Useful phrases include ‘The purpose of this report is…’ and ‘It was found that…’. These phrases establish a formal tone.
常用表达包括“The purpose of this report is…”和“It was found that…”。这些表达能建立正式语气。
9. Review Writing | 评论写作
A review evaluates a book, film, restaurant, product, or experience. It combines description with personal judgment.
评论是对书籍、电影、餐厅、产品或体验的评价。它结合了描述与个人判断。
Give enough detail about the subject so the reader understands what you are reviewing. Then offer your opinion, supported by specific examples.
对评论对象给出足够的细节,让读者明白你在评价什么。然后给出你的观点,并用具体例子支持。
End with a recommendation. Would you recommend it to others? Why or why not? This gives the review a clear purpose.
结尾要给出推荐建议。你是否会向他人推荐?为什么?这赋予评论明确的目的。
10. Narrative Writing | 记叙文写作
Narrative writing tells a story. It may be based on a true event, a prompt, or a completely imaginary scenario.
记叙文是讲故事。它可以基于真实事件、题目提示,或完全虚构的情景。
Use a clear sequence: beginning, middle, end. Introduce characters and setting early, build tension or interest, then resolve the story.
使用清晰的顺序:开头、中间、结尾。尽早介绍人物和背景,逐步制造张力或趣味,然后收束故事。
Show, don’t tell. Instead of writing ‘She was scared’, describe her racing heart and trembling hands. This makes the story vivid.
要展示,不要直说。与其写“她很害怕”,不如描写她心跳加速、双手颤抖。这样故事更生动。
11. Summary Writing | 摘要写作
Summary tasks require you to condense a longer text into a short, accurate version. You must cover the main points without adding your own opinion.
摘要题目要求你将一篇较长的文本压缩成简短、准确的版本。你必须涵盖要点,但不能加入自己的观点。
Read the text twice before writing. The first time, get the overall meaning. The second time, underline key facts and examples.
动笔前先把文本读两遍。第一遍掌握整体含义,第二遍划出关键事实和例证。
Use your own words as much as possible. Copying long phrases from the original will lose marks. Focus on logical links between ideas.
尽量用自己的语言表达。照抄原文中的长句会失分。注意观点之间的逻辑联系。
12. General Exam Strategies | 通用考试策略
No matter which task type appears, certain strategies apply to all writing exams.
无论出现哪种题型,有些策略适用于所有写作考试。
-
Spend 5 minutes planning and 3 minutes checking.
花5分钟构思,留3分钟检查。
-
Answer every part of the prompt. Missing one bullet point costs marks.
回应题目中的每一项要求。遗漏一个要点就会失分。
-
Use paragraphing correctly. One main idea per paragraph.
正确分段。每个段落只表达一个中心思想。
-
Maintain consistent register throughout.
全文保持统一语域。
Finally, read your work aloud in your mind. Weird sentences become obvious when you ‘hear’ them. Fix spelling, punctuation, and grammar before submitting.
最后,在脑海中默读自己的文章。当你“听”到句子时,别扭之处会变得很明显。在提交前修正拼写、标点和语法。
