The mole (symbol mol) is the SI unit for amount of substance. One mole contains exactly 6.02214076 × 10²³ elementary entities, known as the Avogadro constant, Nₐ. Entities can be atoms, molecules, ions, electrons, or formula units. This number allows chemists to count particles by weighing.
