1. Meet the Case: Ana’s Email | 案例:Ana的电子邮件

Below is the original email from Ana. Read it through twice – first for general understanding, and then to spot the details we will work on. Remember to use context clues and any cognates (words that look similar to English) to help you guess meaning.

下面是Ana发来的原始邮件。请阅读两遍——第一遍了解大意,第二遍找出我们即将分析的细节。记得利用上下文线索和同源词(与英语拼写相似的词)来帮助你猜测意思。

Hola,

Me llamo Ana García. Tengo 12 años y vivo en Madrid, España. Mi cumpleaños es el 3 de mayo. Mi familia es pequeña: tengo una hermana menor, Lucía, y mis padres. Me gusta mucho leer y jugar al fútbol. En el colegio, estudio matemáticas, ciencias, inglés y español. Mi color favorito es el azul.

¿Y tú? ¿Cómo te llamas? ¿Cuántos años tienes? Escríbeme pronto.

Un saludo,
Ana

Let’s begin by identifying the key facts Ana shares. We will do this in English and Spanish so you build both comprehension and vocabulary recognition.

我们先从识别Ana分享的关键事实开始。我们会用英语和西班牙语同时进行,帮助你提升理解能力和词汇识别。

2. Reading for Key Information | 读取关键信息

First fact: Ana says “Me llamo Ana García.” This means “My name is Ana García.” The verb is “llamarse” (to call oneself), and “me llamo” is the “yo” form.

第一个事实:Ana说“Me llamo Ana García.” 意思是“我叫Ana García。” 动词是“llamarse”(自称),“me llamo”是“我”的形式。

Second fact: “Tengo 12 años” tells us she is twelve years old. The verb “tener” means “to have”, but in Spanish you “have” years. So “Tengo 12 años” = “I am 12 years old.”

第二个事实:“Tengo 12 años”告诉我们她十二岁。动词“tener”意为“有”,但在西班牙语中年龄用“有”来表达。所以“Tengo 12 años” = “我十二岁。”

Third fact: “Vivo en Madrid, España.” The verb “vivir” means “to live”, and “vivo” is the “I live” form. She lives in Madrid, the capital of Spain.

第三个事实:“Vivo en Madrid, España.” 动词“vivir”意为“居住”,“vivo”是“我居住”的形式。她住在西班牙首都马德里。

Fourth fact: “Mi cumpleaños es el 3 de mayo.” Notice that dates in Spanish are written with “el” before the number: “el 3 de mayo”. Her birthday is on the third of May.

第四个事实:“Mi cumpleaños es el 3 de mayo.” 注意西班牙语日期数字前加“el”:“el 3 de mayo”。她的生日在五月三日。

Fifth fact: “Tengo una hermana menor, Lucía, y mis padres.” She has a younger sister, Lucía, and her parents. “Hermana menor” means younger sister; “mis padres” means my parents.

第五个事实:“Tengo una hermana menor, Lucía, y mis padres.” 她有一个妹妹Lucía和父母。“Hermana menor”指妹妹;“mis padres”指我的父母。

Sixth fact: “Me gusta mucho leer y jugar al fútbol.” The structure “me gusta” + infinitive is how you express liking an activity. Ana likes reading and playing football a lot.

第六个事实:“Me gusta mucho leer y jugar al fútbol.” “Me gusta”+动词原形用来表达喜欢做某事。Ana非常喜欢阅读和踢足球。

Seventh fact: She studies “matemáticas, ciencias, inglés y español” at school. These are cognates for maths, science, English and Spanish.

第七个事实:她在学校学习“matemáticas, ciencias, inglés y español”。这些是数学、科学、英语和西班牙语的同源词。

Eighth fact: “Mi color favorito es el azul.” The word “favorito” and “azul” (blue) are easy to recognise. Ana’s favourite colour is blue.

第八个事实:“Mi color favorito es el azul.” “favorito”和“azul”(蓝色)很容易辨认。Ana最喜欢的颜色是蓝色。

3. Vocabulary Drill: Greetings and Personal Info | 词汇练习:问候语与个人信息

Now we zoom in on the key phrases Ana used for greetings and personal details. Practise them by reading aloud and covering the translation to see if you can recall the meaning.

现在我们聚焦Ana用于问候和个人信息的关键短语。请大声朗读,然后遮住翻译看看自己能否记住意思。

“Hola” is the Spanish word for “Hello”. It is an informal, friendly greeting used at any time of day.

“Hola”是西班牙语的“你好”。这是一个非正式、友好的问候,可以在一天中任何时候使用。

“Me llamo …” is the standard way to introduce your name. While “Mi nombre es …” also exists, “Me llamo” is more natural and common in conversation.

“Me llamo …”是介绍名字的标准方式。虽然也有“Mi nombre es …”,但“Me llamo”在对话中更自然、更常用。

“Tengo 12 años” – remember, the number changes according to your age. The word “años” means “years”. You will use “Tengo … años” for any age.

“Tengo 12 años”——请记住,数字会根据你的年龄变化。“años”意为“年”。你可以用“Tengo … años”来表达任何年龄。

“Vivo en …” comes from the verb “vivir” (to live). You can use it to say which town or country you live in. Pair it with “en” + place.

“Vivo en …”来自动词“vivir”(居住)。你可以用它来说你住在哪个城镇或国家。搭配“en”+地点使用。

“Mi cumpleaños es el …” – to express your birthday, use “Mi cumpleaños es el” followed by the day and month. The months are not capitalised in Spanish: mayo, junio, etc.

“Mi cumpleaños es el …” – 要说出你的生日,使用“Mi cumpleaños es el”接着日、月。西班牙语中月份不大写:mayo, junio等。

“Un saludo” is a closing phrase like “Regards” or “Cheers”. It is friendly without being too formal, perfect for a letter to a pen pal.

“Un saludo”是一个结尾用语,类似于“此致敬礼”或“祝好”。它既友好又不过于正式,非常适合给笔友写信。

4. Understanding the Verb ‘Ser’ | 理解动词“Ser”

The verb “ser” (to be) appears in Ana’s email in forms like “es” (it is) and, although not directly written, the underlying concept is everywhere. Let’s examine the essential forms for Year 7: “soy” (I am), “eres” (you are) and “es” (he/she/it is).

动词“ser”(是)在Ana的邮件中以“es”(它是)等形式出现。虽然没直接写出第一人称,但这个概念随处可见。我们来看看七年级需要掌握的基本形式:“soy”(我是)、“eres”(你是)和“es”(他/她/它是)。

“Soy” is the first-person form. You say “Soy inglés” (I am English) or “Soy alto” (I am tall). It is used to describe identity, nationality and characteristics.

“Soy”是第一人称形式。你说“Soy inglés”(我是英国人)或“Soy alto”(我个子高)。它用来描述身份、国籍和特征。

“Eres” is the informal “you are”. You would ask “¿Eres español?” (Are you Spanish?) when talking to a friend. In Year 7 CCEA Spanish, this form appears in questions about others.

“Eres”是非正式的“你是”。你问朋友“¿Eres español?”(你是西班牙人吗?)时使用。在CCEA七年级西班牙语中,这个形式出现在询问他人的问句里。

“Es” is the third-person singular. Ana uses it in “Mi cumpleaños es el 3 de mayo” and “Mi color favorito es el azul”. The pattern is subject + “es” + attribute.

“Es”是第三人称单数。Ana在“Mi cumpleaños es el 3 de mayo”和“Mi color favorito es el azul”中都用了它。句式为主语+“es”+属性。

One useful drill: create sentences about yourself using “soy”, about a friend using “eres” in a question, and about a family member using “es”. This will lock in the pattern.

一个有用的练习:用“soy”造关于自己的句子,用“eres”造问朋友的问题,用“es”造关于家人的句子。这能帮你牢牢记住这个句型。

5. Family and Adjectives | 家庭与形容词

Ana describes her family as “pequeña” (small) and mentions a “hermana menor” (younger sister). Describing family is a core topic in Year 7 CCEA Spanish, and it is easy to expand with simple adjectives.

Ana把她的家庭描述为“pequeña”(小)并提到“hermana menor”(妹妹)。描述家庭是CCEA七年级西班牙语的一个核心话题,用简单的形容词就可以轻松扩展。

The adjective comes after the noun in Spanish: “familia pequeña”, not “pequeña familia”. Adjectives also agree in gender and number. “Pequeña” is feminine singular, matching “familia” (feminine).

西班牙语中形容词放在名词后面:“familia pequeña”,而不是“pequeña familia”。形容词还要与名词的性和数一致。“pequeña”是阴性单数,与阴性的“familia”保持一致。

You can practise describing your own family: “Mi familia es grande / pequeña.” (My family is big / small.) “Tengo un hermano mayor” (I have an older brother) or “Tengo dos hermanas menores” (I have two younger sisters).

你可以练习描述自己的家庭:“Mi familia es grande / pequeña.”(我家大/小。)“Tengo un hermano mayor”(我有个哥哥)或“Tengo dos hermanas menores”(我有两个妹妹)。

Other useful family words from Ana’s email: “padres” (parents), “hermana” (sister). Build a small mind map with “madre”, “padre”, “hermano”, “hermana”, “abuelos”. Label each with a possessive like “mi” or “mis”.

Ana邮件中其他有用的家庭词汇:“padres”(父母)、“hermana”(姐妹)。你可以画一张小型思维导图,包含“madre”, “padre”, “hermano”, “hermana”, “abuelos”。每个词前面加上物主代词如“mi”或“mis”。

6. School Life Vocabulary | 学校生活词汇

Ana mentions “colegio” (school) and the subjects she studies. In CCEA Year 7, you are expected to name your school subjects and describe your timetable in simple terms.

Ana提到了“colegio”(学校)和她学习的科目。在CCEA七年级,你需要能说出学校科目并用简单的词语描述你的时间表。

“Colegio” in this context means school. In Spain, a “colegio” often refers to a primary or secondary school. The verb “estudio” (I study) comes from “estudiar”.

“Colegio”在这里指学校。在西班牙,“colegio”通常指中小学。动词“estudio”(我学习)来自“estudiar”。

The subject list: “matemáticas” (maths), “ciencias” (science), “inglés” (English) and “español” (Spanish). Add other subjects you may study: “historia” (history), “geografía” (geography), “educación física” (PE), “arte” (art).

科目列表:“matemáticas”(数学)、“ciencias”(科学)、“inglés”(英语)和“español”(西班牙语)。加上你可能会学的其他科目:“historia”(历史)、“geografía”(地理)、“educación física”(体育)、“arte”(美术)。

To say what you study, build the sentence “En mi colegio estudio …” followed by the subjects. You can also say “Me gusta más …” (I prefer …) to express which subject you like best.

要表达你学习什么,可以造句子“En mi colegio estudio …”后面接科目。你也可以说“Me gusta más …”(我更喜欢……)来表达你最喜欢的科目。

Note that days of the week are not in Ana’s email, but you can combine them: “El lunes tengo matemáticas” (On Monday I have maths). This is another building block for Year 7 work.

请注意,Ana的邮件里没有一周七天的表达,但你可以结合起来:“El lunes tengo matemáticas”(星期一我有数学课)。这是七年级学习的另一个重要内容。

7. Hobbies and ‘Gustar’ | 爱好与“Gustar”

The phrase “Me gusta mucho leer y jugar al fútbol” introduces one of the most important structures in early Spanish: “gustar”. Unlike English “to like”, “gustar” works differently. It literally means “to be pleasing to”.

短语“Me gusta mucho leer y jugar al fútbol”引出了早期西班牙语中最重要的结构之一:“gustar”。与英语的“to like”不同,“gustar”的结构有区别。它的字面意思是“使……喜欢”。

“Me gusta” + infinitive is used when you like doing an activity. The word “me” is the indirect object pronoun meaning “to me”. So “Me gusta leer” is “Reading is pleasing to me”, i.e. “I like reading.”

“Me gusta”+动词原形用来表达喜欢做某事。“me”是间接宾语代词,意思是“对我来说”。所以“Me gusta leer”就是“阅读使我感到愉快”,也就是“我喜欢阅读”。

“Mucho” intensifies the liking: “Me gusta mucho” = I like it a lot. If you want to say you don’t like something, use “no me gusta”. Asking a friend is “¿Te gusta …?” (Do you like …?)

“Mucho”加强了喜欢的程度:“Me gusta mucho”=我非常喜欢。如果你想说不喜欢,用“no me gusta”。问朋友时用“¿Te gusta …?”(你喜欢……吗?)

Other hobby phrases you can use: “jugar a los videojuegos” (play video games), “escuchar música” (listen to music), “bailar” (dance), “nadar” (swim), “dibujar” (draw). Practise adding them after “Me gusta”.

你可以使用的其他爱好短语:“jugar a los videojuegos”(玩电子游戏)、“escuchar música”(听音乐)、“bailar”(跳舞)、“nadar”(游泳)、“dibujar”(画画)。练习把它们加在“Me gusta”后面。

8. Cultural Note: Spanish School Day | 文化注释:西班牙的上学日

Understanding that Ana goes to “colegio” in Madrid opens the door to a cultural insight. The typical Spanish school day often starts around 9:00 and finishes at 14:00, with a long lunch break. Some schools have afternoon sessions from 15:00 to 17:00.

知道Ana在马德里上“colegio”为我们打开了一扇了解文化的大门。典型的西班牙学校日一般从早上9点左右开始,下午2点结束,中午有较长的午餐休息时间。一些学校还有下午3点到5点的课程。

Lunch (“la comida”) is the main meal of the day in Spain, often eaten at home with family. This is why the break is so long. Ana might go home for lunch and then return for afternoon activities if her school runs a “jornada partida” (split day).

在西班牙,午餐(la comida)是一天中的主餐,通常在家与家人一起吃。这就是午休时间比较长的原因。如果Ana的学校实行“分段作息”,她可能会回家吃午饭,然后返回学校参加下午的活动。

Comparing this to your own school day is a great way to practise comparative language in Spanish. You could say “En mi colegio, empiezo a las nueve y termino a las tres y media” (In my school, I start at nine and finish at half past three).

将这与你自己学校的作息相比较,是练习西班牙语比较句型的好方法。你可以说“En mi colegio, empiezo a las nueve y termino a las tres y media”(在我的学校,我九点开始,三点半结束)。

This cultural awareness supports CCEA’s emphasis on understanding Spanish-speaking communities. It also makes writing a reply to Ana more meaningful, as you can ask questions about her daily routine.

这种文化意识有助于CCEA强调的对西语社群的理解。这也让你给Ana回信时更有深度,因为你可以询问她的日常生活。

9. Question and Answer Practice | 问答练习

At the end of her email, Ana asks “¿Y tú? ¿Cómo te llamas? ¿Cuántos años tienes?” Now you will practise answering these and other questions she might have asked. Treat each Q&A as a mini-drill.

在邮件末尾,Ana问道:“¿Y tú? ¿Cómo te llamas? ¿Cuántos años tienes?” 现在你要练习回答这些问题以及她可能问的其他问题。把每组问答当作一个小练习。

Question: ¿Cómo te llamas? Answer: Me llamo [your name]. Aim for a full, friendly response: “Me llamo Sam. ¿Y tú?” to mirror her style.

问题:¿Cómo te llamas? 回答:Me llamo [你的名字]。尽量
