Formula and Theorem Quick Reference Handbook for Year 8 Cambridge Chinese | 公式定理速查手册

📚 Formula and Theorem Quick Reference Handbook for Year 8 Cambridge Chinese | 公式定理速查手册

Learning Chinese grammar can feel like solving a puzzle, but once you spot the patterns, everything clicks. This handbook rewrites Year 8 Cambridge Chinese syntax as a set of clear, reusable ‘formulas’ – just like the theorems you memorise in maths. Use it to speed up your revision, check your sentence building, and turn grammatical rules into automatic habits. Each entry pairs a structural template with bilingual examples and notes on when the pattern is used.

学习中文语法有时像解谜,可一旦你看出规律,所有句子都会变得通畅。这本手册把剑桥八年级中文的句型改写为一套清晰、可套用的“公式”——就像你在数学课记住的定理一样。用它来加快复习、检查造句,让语法规则变成自动反应。每个条目都配有一个结构模板、中英对照的例句以及相关的使用提示。

1. Basic Sentence Formula (SVO) | 基本句型公式 (主谓宾)

The most fundamental Chinese sentence follows the same Subject–Verb–Object order as English. Every longer pattern you will learn is an extension of this core formula. Mastering it means you can always fall back on a grammatically safe structure.

最基础的中文句子跟英文一样采用“主语–动词–宾语”的语序。你今后要学的所有长句型都是从这个核心公式延伸出去的。掌握它,就等于永远有一个语法上安全的备用结构。

Subject + Verb + Object → 主语 + 动词 + 宾语

Example: 我 吃 苹果。
I eat an apple.
Negative: Subject + 不/没 + Verb + Object
我 不 吃 苹果。 (I don’t eat apples.)

2. The 把 (bǎ) Construction | 把字句公式

The 把 structure shifts the object before the verb to emphasise what happens to it. Think of it as a ‘disposal’ formula: you take an object, do something to it, and the result is clearly stated. It is extremely common when an action changes the object’s state or location.

“把”字句把宾语提到动词前面,突出宾语受到了怎样的处置。可以把它理解为一种“处置”公式:你拿起某个对象,对它做了某个动作,并且结果很明确。当动作改变了宾语的状态或位置时,“把”字句非常常用。

Subject + 把 + Object + Verb + Complement/了

Example: 妈妈 把 衣服 洗 干净 了。
Mum washed the clothes clean.
Key rule: The object after 把 must be definite (we know which one) and the verb must express a clear result or change.

3. The 被 (bèi) Passive | 被字句公式

This is the standard passive formula in Mandarin, used when the recipient of an action is more important than the doer, or when the doer is unknown. In speech, you can also use 让 or 叫, but 被 is the safest choice for formal writing and exams.

这是普通话里标准的被动句型,当动作的承受者比施动者更重要,或施动者不明时使用。口语中也可以用“让”或“叫”,但在正式书面语和考试中,“被”是最稳妥的选择。

Receiver + 被 (+ Agent) + Verb + Complement/了

Example: 我的杯子 被 弟弟 打 破 了。
My cup was broken by my younger brother.
Agent omitted: 门 被 打开 了。 (The door was opened.)

4. Comparative Sentences (比) | 比较句公式

To compare two things in Chinese, you don’t change the adjective; instead you use the particle 比. The formula is simple, but you must remember that degree adverbs like 很 cannot directly appear before the adjective in a 比 sentence. Use 多了 or 得多 to express a big difference.

比较两件事物时,中文不改变形容词本身,而是用助词“比”。这个公式很简单,但一定要记住:在“比”字句里,程度副词“很”不能直接放在形容词前面。要表示差距大,可以用“多了”或“得多”。

A + 比 + B + Adjective (+ 多了/得多)

Example: 今天 比 昨天 冷 多了。
Today is much colder than yesterday.
Equal comparison: A + 跟/和 + B + 一样 + Adjective
他 跟 我 一样 高。 (He is as tall as me.)

5. The 是……的 Emphasis Structure | 是……的强调句

This pattern is used to highlight the time, place, manner, or purpose of a past action. It often answers ‘when?’, ‘where?’, ‘how?’ or ‘with whom?’ questions. The 是 is placed before the detail you want to emphasise, and 的 usually comes at the end of the sentence.

这个句型用来强调一个过去动作发生的时间、地点、方式或目的,常用来回答“什么时候?”“在哪里?”“怎么?”“跟谁?”这类问题。“是”放在要强调的信息之前,“的”通常出现在句尾。

Subject + 是 + Detail + Verb + 的 (+ Object)

Example: 我 是 昨天 到 北京 的。
It was yesterday that I arrived in Beijing.
Manner: 他 是 坐 地铁 去 学校 的。 (He went to school by metro.)

6. Serial Verb Sentences | 连动句公式

A serial verb sentence strings two or more verbs together to describe actions happening in sequence or for a shared purpose. No conjunction is needed – simply list the verb phrases one after another. The formula is especially useful for expressing ‘go to do something’ and ‘use something to do something’.

连动句把两个或更多的动词串联起来,描述连续发生的动作或为了共同目的而做的动作。不需要连词,直接把动词短语并列即可。这个句型在表达“去做某事”和“用某物做某事”时特别有用。

Subject + Verb₁ (+ Object₁) + Verb₂ (+ Object₂)

Purpose: 我 去 图书馆 看 书。
I go to the library to read books.
Means: 他 用 筷子 吃 饭。 (He eats with chopsticks.)

7. Double Object Formula | 双宾语公式

Some verbs like 给, 送, 教, 告诉 can take two objects: an indirect object (the person receiving) and a direct object (the thing given). The word order is fixed: the indirect object always comes before the direct object.

有些动词,如“给、送、教、告诉”,可以带两个宾语:间接宾语(接受者)和直接宾语(被给的东西)。语序是固定的:间接宾语永远放在直接宾语之前。

Subject + Verb + Indirect Object + Direct Object

Example: 老师 教 我们 中文。
The teacher teaches us Chinese.
Gift example: 爸爸 送 我 一 本 书。 (Dad gave me a book.)

8. Directional Complements | 趋向补语公式

Directional complements indicate the direction of a movement and are attached after the main verb. Simple ones include 来 (towards the speaker) and 去 (away from the speaker). Compound ones combine an action direction with 来 or 去, such as 进来, 出去, 拿上来, 放下去.

趋向补语表示动作移动的方向,紧跟在主要动词后面。简单趋向补语包括“来”(向着说话人)和“去”(远离说话人)。复合趋向补语把动作方向与“来”或“去”组合起来,例如“进来、出去、拿上来、放下去”。

Verb + Directional Complement (来/去)

Simple: 请 进 来!
Please come in!
Compound with object: 他 拿 出 来 一 支 笔。(He took out a pen.)

9. Resultative Complements | 结果补语公式

A resultative complement is an adjective or verb placed after the main verb to show the outcome of the action. It tells you whether an action was completed successfully, clearly, incorrectly, etc. Common complements include 完 (finished), 到 (achieved), 好 (well/completed), 错 (wrongly), and 清楚 (clearly).

结果补语是放在主要动词后面的形容词或动词,用来表明动作的结果。它能告诉你一个动作是否完成、是否清楚、是否正确等。常见的结果补语有“完、到、好、错、清楚”。

Verb + Resultative Complement (+ 了)

Example: 我 看 完 那 本 书 了。
I finished reading that book.
See clearly: 你 听 清楚 了 吗? (Did you hear clearly?)

10. Potential Complements | 可能补语公式

To express whether an action can or cannot achieve a result, insert 得 or 不 between the verb and its resultative or directional complement. This forms a potential complement. It is widely used to talk about abilities and possibilities in everyday conversation.

要表达一个动作能不能达到某种结果,可以在动词和结果补语或趋向补语之间插入“得”或“不”,这就形成了可能补语。在日常对话中,这个结构广泛用来谈论能力与可能性。

Verb + 得/不 + Complement

Affirmative: 我 看 得 懂 中文 报纸。
I can understand Chinese newspapers (by reading).
Negative: 门 太 小,车 开 不 进 去。 (The door is too small, the car cannot be driven in.)

11. Question Formulas | 疑问句公式

Mandarin questions come in a few predictable patterns. Mastering these four templates will let you ask almost anything: yes–no with 吗, alternative with 还是, affirmative–negative (Verb-不-Verb), and wh-questions using question words placed exactly where the answer would be.

普通话的问句有几个可预见的模式。掌握下面四个模板,你几乎就能提出任何问题:用“吗”的是非问句、用“还是”的选择问句、正反问句(V不V),以及疑问词问句(疑问词就放在答案该在的位置上)。

Pattern A: Statement + 吗? | Pattern B: A 还是 B?

吗 question: 你 喜欢 咖啡 吗?
Do you like coffee?
V不V: 你 去 不 去? (Are you going or not?)
Wh-word: 你 在 哪儿 学 中文? (Where do you study Chinese?)

Every formula in this handbook works like a building block. Keep it handy while you complete past papers or write your own sentences. The more you plug new vocabulary into these fixed patterns, the more naturally the structures will ring in your ears – until one day you won’t need to look at the handbook at all.

这本手册里的每一条公式都像一块积木。做真题或者自己造句时,把它放在手边。你越频繁地把新词汇套入这些固定结构,这些句型就会越自然地在你耳边回响——直到有一天,你不再需要翻阅它。
