Year 10 CAIE Chinese: Quick-Reference Handbook of Grammar Formulas & Writing Theorems | Year 10 CAIE 中文:公式定理速查手册

📚 Year 10 CAIE Chinese: Quick-Reference Handbook of Grammar Formulas & Writing Theorems | Year 10 CAIE 中文:公式定理速查手册

Just as maths is built on formulas and theorems, success in CAIE IGCSE Chinese depends on mastering a set of reliable structures – what we call ‘grammar formulas’ and ‘writing theorems’. This handbook condenses the syllabus essentials into ready-to-use patterns, covering sentence construction, key particles, comparative forms, connective logic, writing frameworks and oral response templates. Keep it close when you practise past papers or draft essays; these formulas will make your Chinese more accurate, coherent and exam-ready.

数学靠公式和定理搭建,CAIE IGCSE 中文的高分同样依赖一套牢固的结构——我们称之为“语法公式”与“写作定理”。本手册把考纲要点提炼成拿来即用的模版,涵盖句式搭建、关键词尾、比较型、衔接逻辑、写作骨架与口试应答模板。刷真题或拟草稿时随时翻阅,这些公式会让你的中文更准确、更连贯、也更有“考试感”。

1. Core Sentence Formula | 核心句式公式

The backbone of a clear Chinese sentence follows a fixed sequence: Subject – Time when – Place where – Manner – Verb – Object – Duration. While time and place can sometimes swap, in formal writing this order is the safest bet to avoid misplacement errors.

一个通顺的中文句子有一条固定骨架:主语 – 时间 – 地点 – 方式 – 动词 – 宾语 – 时长。时间与地点有时可互换,但在书面表达中严守此序最能避错。

Formula: S + Time + Place + Manner + V + O + Duration

Example: I read a book for one hour in the library yesterday afternoon.

示例:我昨天下午在图书馆认真地看了一小时书。

  • Subject (我) – Time (昨天下午) – Place (在图书馆) – Manner (认真地) – V+O (看了书) – Duration (一小时)
  • Never place time at the very end as in English; place it before the verb unless it is duration, which comes after the object or repeated verb.
  • 切勿把时间像英语那样放到句尾;除时量补语外,时间一定要放在动词前。

2. The ‘de’ Trio Formula | “的地得”三分公式

The three homophones 的, 地 and 得 are a notorious pain point. They are structural particles that connect modifiers to what follows. Think of them as operators with distinct grammatical ‘valence’.

三个同音字“的、地、得”是众矢之的。它们是连接修饰语的结构助词,各自有不同的语法“价”。

Particle Left Context Right Context Formula & Example
Adjective / Noun / Pronoun Noun Adj+的+N:美丽的校园 (beautiful campus)
Descriptive adverb Verb Adv+地+V:高兴地跳 (jump happily)
Verb / Adjective Degree complement V+得+Complement:跑得很快 (run very fast)

Golden theorem: If the right side is a noun, use 的. If it modifies a verb, use 地. If it follows a verb/adjective to show result or degree, use 得.

黄金定理:右侧是名词,用“的”;修饰动词,用“地”;跟在动/形后表结果或程度,用“得”。

3. Measure Words Pairing Formula | 量词搭配公式

Almost every noun in Chinese must be accompanied by a measure word when preceded by a number or demonstrative. The pattern is Numeral/Demonstrative + Measure Word + Noun. While many nouns have fixed measure words, the generic 个 can be a pragmatic fallback in spoken contexts, but accuracy of specific measure words lifts your grade in writing.

中文名词前出现数词或指示词时,几乎必须搭配量词。基本公式为数/指 + 量 + 名词。虽然口语中可泛用“个”,但写作里量词的精准会直接拉分。

Measure Word Typical Noun Pattern Example
鱼、路、河、裤子、新闻 一条鱼、一条新闻
纸、桌子、票、脸、床 一张票、一张纸
刀、伞、椅子、锁 一把伞、一把椅子
书、杂志、护照 一本书
山、桥、城市、雕像 一座桥

Exam tactic: When unsure, use the most commonly tested measure words (条、张、把、本、座、只) – but never overuse 个 in continuous writing. Double-check that the noun fits the measure word’s shape or category logic.

应试技巧:没把握时优先用高频量词(条、张、把、本、座、只),但不要在整段写作里处处用“个”。保持量词与名词形状或范畴的逻辑一致。

4. Aspectual Markers: 了 / 着 / 过 | 态标记公式

These three aspect particles indicate the state of an action rather than tense. Their placement follows rigorous rules. 了 signals completion or change of state; 着 indicates continuous state or action in progress; 过 expresses past experience.

这三个态标记表示动作的状态而非时态,位置有严格规约。“了”表完成或新情况出现;“着”表状态持续或动作进行;“过”表过往经历。

Completion: V + 了 (+ O) | Change: Adj + 了

我看到他了。(I saw him — completed action.)
天冷了。(It has become cold — change of state.)

Continuation: V + 着 (+ O)

墙上挂着一幅画。(A picture is hanging on the wall.)

Experience: V + 过 (+ O)

我去过北京。(I have been to Beijing.)

Common pitfall: Do not over-generalise 了 as past tense. A habitual past does not take 了; use time adverb alone. Also, in a sequence of linked actions, only the final verb may carry 了。

常见雷区:别把“了”当作过去时万能药。过去习惯性动作用时间词即可,不加“了”。一连串动作中,通常只在最后一个动词后用“了”。

5. Comparative Structures Theorems | 比较句式定理

Chinese comparatives rely on fixed patterns rather than inflection. Master these three theorems and you can express everything from ‘taller than’ to ‘equally as good’.

中文的比较表达靠固定句型而非词形变化。掌握下面三条定理,就能表达从“比……高”到“一样好”的所有比较级。

Theorem 1 (Superiority): A 比 B + Adj

他比我高。(He is taller than me.)

Never insert ‘更’ between ‘比’ and adjective unless there is a degree complement. ‘更’ can be placed before ‘比’ or before the adjective in context: 他比我还高。(He is even taller than me.)

切勿在“比”与形容词之间硬塞“更”,除非带程度补语。“他比我还高”表示超出预期。

Theorem 2 (Equal comparison): A 跟/和 B 一样 (+ Adj)

这本书跟那本一样有趣。(This book is as interesting as that one.)

To negate, use 不一样: A 跟 B 不一样 + Adj / A 跟 B 不一样.

否定形式用“不一样”:这本书跟那本不一样便宜。(比较级需注意,有时否定用“没有”更地道。)

Theorem 3 (Superlative): Subject + 最 + Adj / V+得+最+Adj

她是我们班最高的。(She is the tallest in our class.)

In superlatives, 了 is often added to indicate achieved status: 她最高了。

最高级常加“了”强化已达状态:她最高了。

6. Connective Logic Formulas | 连接词逻辑公式

Coherent writing depends on logical connectors. GCSE-tier compositions expect seamless use of cause–effect, contrast, sequence and illustration links. Below is the essential toolkit.

论证的连贯有赖逻辑连接词。IGCSE 写作要求能娴熟运用因果、转折、顺承与举例。以下为必备套件。

Function Key Connectors Formula & Note
Cause–Effect 因为…所以…, 由于…因此…, …,于是… 因为最近下雨,所以比赛延期了。Prefer 由于 in formal essays.
Contrast 虽然…但是…, 不过, 然而, 却 虽然他很忙,但是他还是来帮忙了。Note: 却 must be placed before the verb.
Sequence 首先…其次…最后…, 然后, 接着 首先清理数据,其次分析趋势,最后撰写结论。
Example 例如、比如、…等 很多运动,例如游泳、跑步等,都有益健康。

Theorem: Never pile connectors without checking the logic. If you use 虽然, the subordinate clause must set up a genuine contrast; a misplaced 但是 breaks flow. In exam essays, aim for at least three different connector types per paragraph.

定理:不匹配的逻辑链接是扣分重灾区。用了“虽然”,从句就必须构成真正让步;硬塞的“但是”反会割裂文气。考试作文每段至少应出现三种不同的连接逻辑。

7. Question Formation Formulas | 疑问句构成公式

There are four main ways to form questions in Chinese, each with its own structural fingerprint. For the role-play or written interaction components, you need all four.

中文疑问句有四大类,结构各有鲜明特征。角色扮演与书面互动环节里四种都必须会。

Formula A: 吗 Particle Questions — Statement + 吗?

你是学生。→ 你是学生吗?(Drop the full stop, add 吗。)

Formula B: V-not-V Questions — V + 不/没 + V (+ O)?

你去不去图书馆?(Are you going to the library or not?) Use 没 for completed actions: 你有没有钱?

用“没”表过去或所有:你有没有去过?

Formula C: Interrogative Pronoun In-Situ — Wh-word stays in its normal position.

谁来了?(Who came?) 你在做什么?(What are you doing?) Do not move the wh-word to the front.

Formula D: 呢 Tag Questions — Short phrase + 呢?

我很好,你呢?(I am fine, and you?) This is the simplest way to bounce a question back.

“你呢”是最轻松的回问方式。

8. Negative Patterns | 否定句式公式

Negation in Chinese uses 不 and 没, but the distinction is neither simple present vs past. 不 negation is for present/future states, habits, and adjectives; 没 negation is for completed actions and existential ‘have’.

中文的否定分“不”和“没”,区别并非简单时态。“不”否定现在/将来状态、习惯、形容词;“没”否定已完成动作及“有”的存在。

Marker Environment Example
Before verbs of will/opinion, adjectives, habitual actions 他不喜欢吃鱼。今天不冷。
Before 有, or before verb to deny past completion 我没钱。我没看见他。

Special theorem: When negating a resultative complement (e.g. 看到, 吃完), use 没, never 不. For potential complements, insert 不 between the verb and complement (e.g. 看不到 cannot see).

特殊定理:结果补语的否定用“没”,不用“不”。可能补语则在中插“不”:看不到 (cannot see), 吃不完 (cannot finish eating).

9. Narrative Writing Theorem | 记叙文结构定理

A high-scoring narrative follows a six-part arc: Hook → Background → Rising Action → Climax → Resolution → Reflection. In Chinese, each part has settled opening phrases that glide your story forward.

高分记叙文遵循六段弧:钩子→背景→发展→高潮→结局→感悟。每个部分都有固定的起笔句,能让故事自然流淌。

Hook: 那一天/那一刻 + unforgettable detail

那一刻,我听见了世界上最温暖的声音。(At that moment I heard the warmest voice in the world.)

Rising action: 忽然/突然 + sensory detail + reaction

忽然,身后传来一阵急促的脚步声,我的心跳瞬间加速。

Climax: 就在这时候 + turning point; dialogue often follows

就在这时候,妈妈推门进来了,说:“别怕,有我在。”

Resolution & Reflection: 从这件事中,我明白了…/ 直到现在,我仍然…

从这件事中,我明白了勇气不是不害怕,而是带着恐惧前行。直到现在,那画面依然清晰。

10. Argumentative Writing Theorem | 议论文结构定理

IGCSE argumentative essays require a clear stance, balanced reasoning and a convincing conclusion. Use the ‘P-E-E-L’ chain in Chinese: Point – Explanation – Example – Link back.

IGCSE 议论文要求立场鲜明、理由均衡、结论有力。请使用中文化“论点—解释—例证—扣题”链。

Opening: 对于…这个问题,我的观点是…

对于学生是否应该带手机上学,我的回答是:应该有限度地使用。

Body paragraph formula: 观点 + 原因 + 例如 + 因此

观点:手机有利学习。
原因:能随时查资料,提高效率。
例如:比如我们用字典app查生词。
因此:在老师指导下,手机是工具而非干扰。

Counter-argument formula: 有人可能认为… + 但是 / 然而…

有人可能认为手机会分散注意力,然而只要规定使用时间,就能避免沉迷。

Conclusion: 综上所述 + restate + call to action

综上所述,手机本身并无好坏,关键在于自律。我建议学校善用而非禁用。

11. Letter / Email Format Formulas | 书信/邮件格式公式

Formal and informal letters follow different address and closing conventions. Getting these right shows register control, which is explicitly assessed in the writing paper.

正式信函与私信的开头结尾有不同习惯。格式正确体现语体把握,是写作卷的明确采分点。

Informal letter to a close friend:

  • Salutation: 亲爱的 + name + :/你好!
  • Body: conversational, 你最近怎么样?
  • Close: 祝好 / 祝你一切顺利 / 期待你的回信
  • Signature: 你的朋友 + name

Formal letter to an organisation or elder:

  • Salutation: 尊敬的 + title + :/ 敬爱的校长:
  • First line: 我写这封信是为了…
  • Close: 此致敬礼 / 谢谢您的关注,期待您的回复
  • Signature: 学生 / 申请人 + name, 日期

Must-use theorem: In CAIE writing tasks, if the prompt specifies a letter, always begin with a proper salutation on a separate line. A missing salutation can cost an entire band of marks for task fulfilment.

必记定理:CAIE 写作题若指定书信,首行必须顶格写称呼。漏掉称呼可能直接拉低任务完成度的一个档位。

12. Oral Exam Quick-Response Formulas | 口语应答速记公式

The speaking test rewards fluency and flexible template use. For the general conversation and topic presentation, memorise reusable stem structures that buy you thinking time and structure.

口语考试看重流利度与灵活套用模板。一般对话与主题陈述部分,请熟记可复用的起承句,既争取思考时间又能搭建结构。

Buying time: 这是一个很有意思的问题。让我想一想……

That’s a really interesting question. Let me think…

Structuring an answer: 关于…我有三点看法。第一…第二…最后…

Regarding this, I have three points. First… second… finally…

Expressing opinion: 就我个人而言,我认为… / 我的看法是…

Personally, I think… / In my view…

If stuck: 我的意思是… / 换句话说…

What I mean is… / In other words…

Concluding: 所以,总的来说,我觉得…很重要。

So, overall, I think … is very important.

Practise these aloud until they feel natural; the examiner grades your ability to sustain a conversation, not whether every single word is native-perfect. These formulas guarantee you never freeze.

大声练习到自然脱口;考官评判的是你维持对话的能力,而非每个字都母语级完美。这些公式能保证你永远不会卡壳。
