1. Verb Conjugation and Tense Overview | 动词变位与时态概述

Regular verbs in the present tense follow a simple pattern: stem + ending. The endings are -e, -st, -t, -en, -t, -en. For example, spielen (to play): ich spiele, du spielst, er/sie/es spielt, wir spielen, ihr spielt, sie/Sie spielen.

规则动词的现在时变位遵循简单模式:词干 + 词尾。词尾分别为 -e, -st, -t, -en, -t, -en。例如 spielen(玩耍):ich spiele, du spielst, er/sie/es spielt, wir spielen, ihr spielt, sie/Sie spielen。

Many strong verbs change their stem vowel in the du and er/sie/es forms. Common examples are: fahren – du fährst, er fährt; lesen – du liest, er liest; nehmen – du nimmst, er nimmt. These vowel shifts must be memorised.

许多强变化动词在 du 和 er/sie/es 形式中会改变词干元音。常见例子有:fahren – du fährst, er fährt;lesen – du liest, er liest;nehmen – du nimmst, er nimmt。这些元音变化必须牢记。

Modal verbs (können, müssen, wollen, sollen, dürfen, mögen) are irregular and are used with a bare infinitive at the end of the clause. For instance: Ich kann gut schwimmen. Their present-tense forms often drop the umlaut in the singular.

情态动词(können, müssen, wollen, sollen, dürfen, mögen)不规则且与句末的原形动词连用。例如:Ich kann gut schwimmen. 其现在时单数形式常常失去变音符号。

Separable verbs such as aufstehen or anrufen split in main clauses: the prefix moves to the end of the clause. Ich rufe meine Mutter an. In subordinate clauses, however, they stay together.

可分动词如 aufstehen 或 anrufen 在主句中分裂:前缀移到句末。Ich rufe meine Mutter an. 然而在从句中它们不分开。

2. The Perfect Tense | 现在完成时

The perfect tense is formed with the present tense of haben or sein + the past participle. Most verbs use haben; sein is used with verbs that indicate movement or a change of state (e.g. gehen, fahren, aufstehen, bleiben, werden).

现在完成时由 haben 或 sein 的现在时加上过去分词构成。大多数动词用 haben;sein 用于表示移动或状态变化的动词(如 gehen, fahren, aufstehen, bleiben, werden)。

Weak verbs form the past participle as ge + stem + t. machen → gemacht. Strong verbs often end in -en and may change their stem vowel: sehen → gesehen, trinken → getrunken. Verbs with inseparable prefixes (be-, emp-, ent-, er-, ge-, ver-, zer-) or ending in -ieren do not add a ge- prefix.

弱变化动词构成过去分词:ge + 词干 + t。machen → gemacht。强变化动词通常以 -en 结尾并可能改变词干元音:sehen → gesehen,trinken → getrunken。带有不可分前缀(be-, emp-, ent-, er-, ge-, ver-, zer-)或以 -ieren 结尾的动词不加 ge- 前缀。

The past participle goes to the end of the clause or sentence. Ich habe das Buch gelesen. When using a modal verb in the perfect tense, the double infinitive construction is required: Ich habe das machen müssen.

过去分词位于从句或句子的末尾。Ich habe das Buch gelesen. 在现在完成时中使用情态动词时,需要双不定式结构:Ich habe das machen müssen.

3. The Simple Past Tense | 一般过去时

The simple past (Präteritum/Imperfekt) is mainly used in written German, such as in stories, articles and formal letters. In spoken German, it is common only for haben, sein, the modal verbs and a few other very frequent verbs.

一般过去时主要用于书面德语,如故事、文章和正式信件中。在德语口语中,通常只有 haben、sein、情态动词以及少数高频动词使用一般过去时。

Key irregular past forms to learn by heart include: sein → war, haben → hatte, gehen → ging, kommen → kam, sehen → sah, geben → gab, essen → aß, trinken → trank, fahren → fuhr. For weak verbs, add -te to the stem: machen → machte, spielen → spielte.

需要牢记的关键不规则过去式包括:sein → war, haben → hatte, gehen → ging, kommen → kam, sehen → sah, geben → gab, essen → aß, trinken → trank, fahren → fuhr。对于弱变化动词,在词干后加 -te:machen → machte, spielen → spielte。

In a main clause the verb remains in the second position. Er ging nach Hause. In a subordinate clause the simple past verb still moves to the end, but since it is a finite form, it will be the last element: …, weil er nach Hause ging.

在主句中动词依然处于第二位。Er ging nach Hause. 在从句中一般过去时的动词仍然移至句末,但因为它是一个定式动词,所以依然是最后一个成分:…, weil er nach Hause ging.

4. The Future Tense | 将来时

The future tense is formed with the present tense of werden + the infinitive at the end of the clause. Ich werde morgen ins Kino gehen. The word order is: subject + werden (conjugated) + other elements + infinitive.

将来时由 werden 的现在时加上句末的不定式构成。Ich werde morgen ins Kino gehen. 词序为:主语 + werden(变位)+ 其它成分 + 不定式。

In spoken German the present tense is frequently used to express future actions when a time phrase makes the meaning clear. Morgen gehe ich einkaufen. This is perfectly acceptable and often preferred by examiners unless the task specifically tests future constructions.

在德语口语中,如果时间短语已明确含义,时常使用现在时来表达将来动作。Morgen gehe ich einkaufen. 这种做法完全可以接受,除非题目专门测试将来时结构,否则考官通常也乐于见到这种用法。

To express intention, you can also use vorhaben + zu + infinitive: Ich habe vor, nächstes Jahr zu verreisen.

表达意图时,还可以使用 vorhaben + zu + 不定式:Ich habe vor, nächstes Jahr zu verreisen.

5. Noun Cases and Articles | 名词格与冠词

German has four cases: nominative (subject), accusative (direct object), dative (indirect object) and genitive (possession). The case of a noun is shown by the article, adjective endings and sometimes the noun itself.

德语有四个格:主格(主语)、宾格(直接宾语)、与格(间接宾语)和属格(所有格)。名词的格通过冠词、形容词词尾以及有时名词本身来体现。

Case Masculine Feminine Neuter Plural
Nominative der / ein die / eine das / ein die / keine
Accusative den / einen die / eine das / ein die / keine
Dative dem / einem der / einer dem / einem den / keinen + -n
Genitive des / eines (+ -s) der / einer des / eines (+ -s) der / keiner

When an article is present, the definite article or the indefinite article tells you the case. After kein and possessive determiners (mein, dein etc.) the same endings apply as with ein.

当有冠词出现时,定冠词或不定冠词表明格。在 kein 和物主限定词(mein, dein 等)之后,词尾变化与 ein 相同。

Plural nouns in the dative add an extra -n unless they already end in -n or -s. mit den Kindern, von den Autos but mit den Frauen (already ends in -n).

复数名词在与格中要额外加上 -n,除非它们本身已经以 -n 或 -s 结尾。mit den Kindern, von den Autos,但 mit den Frauen(已以 -n 结尾)则不变。

6. Adjective Endings | 形容词词尾

Adjective endings change according to gender, case and the type of article that precedes the adjective. There are three tables to learn: after the definite article, after the indefinite article and with no article.

Case Masc. (def.) Fem. (def.) Neut. (def.) Plural (def.)
Nom. -e -e -e -en
Acc. -en -e -e -en
Dat. -en -en -en -en
Gen. -en -en -en -en

After the definite article, the adjective takes either -e or -en. After the indefinite article (ein, kein, mein etc.) the endings mainly show the gender and case, e.g. ein großer Mann (nom. masc.), eine schöne Stadt (nom. fem.). When no article is present, the adjective takes the strong endings that mirror the definite article endings.

在定冠词之后形容词词尾为 -e 或 -en。在不定冠词(ein, kein, mein 等)之后词尾主要标示性和格,例如 ein großer Mann(主格阳性),eine schöne Stadt(主格阴性)。当没有冠词时,形容词采用强变化词尾,这些词尾反映了定冠词的词尾。

7. Pronouns | 代词

Personal pronouns change according to case. Mastery of the accusative and dative forms is crucial for handling direct and indirect objects.

人称代词根据格而变化。掌握宾格和与格形式对于处理直接宾语和间接宾语至关重要。
