Year 13 OCR 德语考试要求学生在听说读写四项技能中做到精准无误,但不少同学总是因为一些老生常谈的错误而丢分。无论是混淆形容词词尾还是滥用虚拟式,这些误区往往根深蒂固,一直带到最后的考试中。本文结合考官报告与教学经验,归纳了十大常见误区,并给出具体可行的纠正方法。只要逐一攻克,你就能把顽固的弱项转化为得分利器,从容面对A Level大考。

1. Misusing Genders and Cases: Der, Die, Das Demystified | 误用词性与格:解析der, die, das

One of the most persistent errors is failing to assign the correct gender to a noun, which then causes a cascade of wrong articles, adjective endings, and pronoun choices. For instance, learners often assume that all nouns ending in -e are feminine, producing mistakes like ‘der Name’ (masculine) or ‘der Junge’ (masculine). Even when the gender is known, the case governed by a preposition or verb can be overlooked, leading to constructions such as ‘mit der Zug’ instead of ‘mit dem Zug’.

最顽固的错误之一就是名词词性判断错误,继而引发定冠词、形容词词尾和代词一连串的错误。例如,很多同学误以为所有以-e结尾的名词都是阴性,于是把“der Name”“der Junge”当成阴性来用。即便词性记对了,也常常忽略介词或动词所支配的格,出现“mit der Zug”而非“mit dem Zug”这样的错误。

To correct this, always learn nouns together with their definite article and plural form, treating them as a single unit: ‘der Tisch, die Tische’ not just ‘Tisch’. Use colour-coding systematically – blue for masculine, red for feminine, green for neuter – when making vocabulary notes. Pay special attention to the common gender endings: masculine endings like -ismus, -ling, -ant, -or (der Journalismus, der Liebling); feminine endings like -ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft, -tion (die Zeitung, die Freiheit, die Wissenschaft); and neuter endings like -chen, -lein, -ment, -um (das Mädchen, das Experiment). Additionally, memorise the prepositions that always take the dative (aus, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu) and those that always take the accusative (durch, für, gegen, ohne, um). Practise by writing sentences that deliberately combine these prepositions with nouns of different genders, checking each time that the article matches the case.

纠正方法:记名词时必须连同定冠词和复数形式一起记忆,把“der Tisch, die Tische”当成一个整体,而不是只背“Tisch”。做词汇笔记时,用颜色系统性地标记词性——蓝色代表阳性,红色代表阴性,绿色代表中性。尤其要注意常见的词尾规律:阳性词尾如-ismus, -ling, -ant, -or(der Journalismus, der Liebling);阴性词尾如-ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft, -tion(die Zeitung, die Freiheit, die Wissenschaft);中性词尾如-chen, -lein, -ment, -um(das Mädchen, das Experiment)。还要熟练记忆支配第三格的介词(aus, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu)和支配第四格的介词(durch, für, gegen, ohne, um)。练习时刻意用不同词性的名词与这些介词造句,每写一句就检查冠词是否与格匹配。

2. Adjective Endings: The Never-Ending Puzzle | 形容词词尾:无尽的困惑

The adjective ending system can feel overwhelming because it depends on three factors: the type of article (definite, indefinite, or no article), the case, and the gender/number of the noun. A typical error is producing ‘ein guter Mann’ (correct) but then writing ‘ein gutes Mann’ for neuter, or using weak endings after possessive determiners when mixed endings are required. Another common slip is forgetting that after words like ‘viele’, ‘einige’, or ‘alle’ the adjective takes the same endings as after the definite article.

形容词词尾之所以令人头疼,是因为它取决于三个因素:冠词类型(定冠词、不定冠词、零冠词)、格以及名词的性数。常见错误是写对了“ein guter Mann”,却在中性名词后仍用“ein gutes Mann”,或者在物主代词后误用了弱变化词尾,而实际需要混合变化。另一个常见疏漏是忘了在“viele”“einige”“alle”等词之后,形容词词尾其实跟定冠词后的变化一致。

A practical way to master endings is to learn the three declension tables gradually and then use a decision-making sequence: first identify the article (der-word, ein-word, or none), then determine the case and gender, and finally apply the correct ending. For strong endings (no article), the adjective essentially carries the signal of the definitive article: ‘kaltes Wasser’ shows neuter nominative/accusative just as ‘das Wasser’ would. For weak endings (after der/die/das), the adjective takes either -e or -en, which is much simpler. Mixed endings (after ein, mein, kein, etc.) follow the strong pattern in the nominative and accusative singular, but weak elsewhere. Create your own summary table and stick it on your desk; refer to it every time you write a sentence until the patterns become automatic.

3. Word Order Traps: Verb Position in Main and Subordinate Clauses | 语序陷阱:主句与从句中的动词位置

German word order rules cause frequent errors, especially when students place the finite verb incorrectly in subordinate clauses. They write ‘weil ich bin müde’ instead of ‘weil ich müde bin’, or push the past participle to the wrong place in a perfect tense clause. In main clauses, they might forget the verb-second rule after an adverbial phrase, producing ‘Gestern ich habe …’ rather than ‘Gestern habe ich …’. Modal verbs in subordinate clauses can also go astray, with the finite modal appearing too early.

德语的语序规则常常让学生出错,尤其是在从句中把变位动词放错位置。他们写“weil ich bin müde”,而不是“weil ich müde bin”,或者在使用完成时的从句中把过去分词放到了错误的地方。在主句中,学生又往往忘记副词短语后动词必须紧跟的“动词第二位”原则,写出“Gestern ich habe …”而非“Gestern habe ich …”。情态动词在从句中的位置也容易出错,变位的情态动词被过早地提了出来。

The first step to fixing this is to internalise the basic framework: in a main declarative clause, the conjugated verb is always in second position; everything else builds around it. In a subordinate clause introduced by a subordinating conjunction (weil, dass, obwohl, damit, etc.), the conjugated verb goes to the very end. Train yourself by taking a simple sentence and adding a conjunction: ‘Ich gehe ins Kino.’ becomes ‘Ich sage, dass ich ins Kino gehe.’ Then practise with separable-prefix verbs: ‘Ich rufe dich an’ becomes ‘…, dass ich dich anrufe.’ When using modal verbs plus an infinitive in a subordinate clause, remember that the auxiliary (haben) or the finite verb still goes last: ‘…, dass ich das machen muss.’ A helpful drill is to write out the same idea in both main and subordinate forms repeatedly, paying close attention to the bracket structure of the predicate. Using colour-coded sticky notes can help visualise verb positions while drafting essays.

纠正的第一步是内化基本框架:陈述主句中,变位动词永远占据第二位,其余成分围绕它构建;而在由weil, dass, obwohl, damit等连词引导的从句中,变位动词必须甩到句末。可以这样训练:找一个简单句,加上连词,如将“Ich gehe ins Kino.”改成“Ich sage, dass ich ins Kino gehe.”。然后练习可分动词:“Ich rufe dich an”变成“…, dass ich dich anrufe.”。如果从句含有情态动词和不定式,同样要把变位部分(情态动词)放在末尾:“…, dass ich das machen muss.”。反复用主句和从句的形式表达同一个意思,注意谓语构成的框形结构,这是一个非常有效的训练。写作草稿时可以用彩色便利贴把动词位置标出来,帮助视觉化记忆。

4. The zu-Infinitive: When to Use It and When Not | 带zu不定式:何时用何时不用

Knowing when to insert ‘zu’ before an infinitive is a subtle but vital skill. Many learners overgeneralise and add ‘zu’ after modal verbs, writing ‘Ich will zu gehen’ instead of ‘Ich will gehen’, or they omit ‘zu’ where it is required, as in ‘Ich versuche, das Problem lösen’ (should be ‘zu lösen’). The confusion also extends to the ‘um … zu’ construction: students sometimes use it without a clear subject relation, or place the ‘zu’ incorrectly between a separable prefix and its verb.

什么时候该在不定式前加zu是一门微妙却关键的功夫。不少同学过度泛化,在情态动词后也画蛇添足地加zu,写出“Ich will zu gehen”,而不是正确的“Ich will gehen”。还有人偏偏在必须用zu的时候丢掉了它,例如“Ich versuche, das Problem lösen”(应为“zu lösen”)。在um … zu结构中,学生有时前后主语不一致就乱用,或者把zu放在了可分前缀和动词之间。

The rule is straightforward: modal verbs (dürfen, können, mögen, müssen, sollen, wollen) and a few other verbs like ‘lassen’, ‘gehen’, ‘sehen’, ‘hören’ are used without ‘zu’. Most other verbs that take an infinitive complement require ‘zu’: versuchen, vergessen, aufhören, anfangen, bitten, raten, brauchen (in the sense of ‘need to’), and many more. When the infinitive phrase has its own subject, use a ‘dass’ clause instead of an infinitive construction. For separable verbs, ‘zu’ is inserted between the prefix and the verb stem: ‘anzurufen’, ‘aufzumachen’. Create a two-column chart in your notebook: ‘Verbs without zu’ vs. ‘Verbs with zu’. Next to each, write an example sentence. Then, every time you draft a text, consciously check whether the controlling verb belongs to the ‘zu’ group. A bonus tip: in longer sentences, it is safer to replace a convoluted infinitive construction with a ‘dass’ clause to avoid mistakes.

5. Konjunktiv II: Wishes, Conditionals, and Reported Speech | 第二虚拟式:愿望、条件与间接引语

The subjunctive mood causes considerable anxiety. A widespread mistake is the over-reliance on ‘würde’ + infinitive, even for common strong verbs that have their own authentic Konjunktiv II forms. For example, saying ‘wenn ich würde mehr Zeit haben’ instead of ‘wenn ich mehr Zeit hätte’. Conversely, when reporting speech in formal registers, students often use Konjunktiv II where Konjunktiv I is expected, or fail to distinguish between the two. Misformed strong-verb subjunctives like ‘käufte’ for ‘käme’ also appear.

To regain control, first learn the genuine Konjunktiv II forms of the key irregular verbs: sein (wäre), haben (hätte), werden (würde), the modals (könnte, müsste, dürfte, wollte, sollte, möchte), and a handful of frequent strong verbs (kommen – käme, gehen – ginge, wissen – wüsste, finden – fände, geben – gäbe). Use them routinely in conditional sentences and polite requests. Reserve the ‘würde’ construction mainly for weak verbs where the Konjunktiv II coincides with the simple past and could cause ambiguity. For reported speech, understand that Konjunktiv I is the standard in serious journalism and academic writing; learn its forms by taking the stem of the infinitive and adding the same endings as Konjunktiv II. If the Konjunktiv I form is identical to the indicative, switch to Konjunktiv II. Practise by converting direct speech snippets from news texts into indirect reportage, marking the verb form changes.

6. Passive Voice: werden vs. sein Confusion | 被动态:werden与sein的混淆

The German passive comes in two flavours – Vorgangspassiv (process passive, with ‘werden’) and Zustandspassiv (state passive, with ‘sein’) – and mixing them up can change the meaning entirely. Students frequently use ‘ist repariert’ to describe an action happening now, whereas it only describes the result. They also misform the perfect passive, writing ‘ist repariert geworden’ when it should be ‘ist repariert worden’. The agent phrase with ‘von’ is often placed incorrectly or the case after ‘von’ is mistaken.

德语被动态有过程被动态(用werden)和状态被动态(用sein)之分,混淆二者会彻底改变句子的意思。学生常把“ist repariert”用来描述正在发生的动作,但它实际上只表达结果。完成时的被动也常常写错,比如出现“ist repariert geworden”这样的形式,正确的应该是“ist repariert worden”。用von引出施事者的短语位置不当,或者von后的格用错,也屡见不鲜。

Clarify the difference with mental images: ‘Das Auto wird repariert’ means the mechanic is working on it right now (process); ‘Das Auto ist repariert’ means the repair is finished (state). Drill the conjugation of ‘werden’ in all tenses: present (wird), simple past (wurde), perfect (ist … worden). Remember that ‘worden’ is the special past participle of ‘werden’ used only in passive constructions, never ‘geworden’ when forming the passive perfect. Practise transforming active sentences into both passive types and across different tenses: ‘Der Mechaniker repariert das Auto’ becomes ‘Das Auto wird repariert’ (present process) and ‘Das Auto ist repariert’ (present state). For past tense, ‘Das Auto wurde repariert’ and ‘Das Auto war repariert’. Make a table and work through it aloud to solidify the patterns.

7. Reflexive Verbs and Prepositional Case Errors | 反身动词与介词格错误

Reflexive verbs in German often come with a fixed preposition, and getting the case of that preposition wrong is a hallmark of an intermediate learner. For example, ‘sich fre
