1. Noun Genders and Typical Endings | 名词性别与典型词尾规律

Nouns in German carry one of three genders: masculine (der), feminine (die) or neuter (das). While many gender assignments must be memorised, certain endings reliably signal the gender, acting as a shortcut formula.

德语名词有三种性别:阳性 (der)、阴性 (die) 和中性 (das)。虽然许多性别需要死记硬背,但某些词尾可以可靠地提示性别,是一种捷径公式。

Masculine endings often include -ig, -ling, -or, -ismus, -er (when referring to male persons or many agents). Example: der Honig, der Frühling, der Motor, der Tourismus, der Lehrer.

阳性词尾常包括 -ig, -ling, -or, -ismus, -er(指男性或施动者)。例如:der Honig, der Frühling, der Motor, der Tourismus, der Lehrer。

Feminine endings include -ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft, -ion, -tät, -ie. Example: die Zeitung, die Freiheit, die Möglichkeit, die Freundschaft, die Nation, die Qualität, die Energie.

阴性词尾包括 -ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft, -ion, -tät, -ie。例如:die Zeitung, die Freiheit, die Möglichkeit, die Freundschaft, die Nation, die Qualität, die Energie。

Neuter endings include -chen, -lein, -ment, -um, -nis (when not feminine). Example: das Mädchen, das Büchlein, das Instrument, das Datum, das Ergebnis.

中性词尾包括 -chen, -lein, -ment, -um, -nis(非阴性时)。例如:das Mädchen, das Büchlein, das Instrument, das Datum, das Ergebnis。

2. Definite and Indefinite Articles: Case Table | 定冠词与不定冠词变格表

Articles change their form according to case, gender and number. The definite article ‘der-die-das’ table is the foundation for all adjective and pronoun endings. It is helpful to visualise it as a repeating pattern.

冠词根据格、性和数变化形式。定冠词 der-die-das 表格是所有形容词和代词词尾的基础。将其视为一种重复模式非常有用。

Case Masculine Feminine Neuter Plural
Nominative der die das die
Accusative den die das die
Dative dem der dem den (+n on noun)
Genitive des (+s/es) der des (+s/es) der

The indefinite article (ein, eine, ein) follows the same endings as ‘kein’ and the possessive adjectives (mein, dein, sein, etc.). In the plural, ‘kein’ is used to express the negative of ‘ein’.

不定冠词 (ein, eine, ein) 与 kein 及物主形容词 (mein, dein, sein 等) 的词尾变化相同。复数中,用 kein 表达不定冠词的否定形式。

3. Personal Pronouns Across All Cases | 人称代词四格变化

Personal pronouns replace nouns and must be instantly matched to the correct case. The pattern is especially important for verb + object relationships and after prepositions.

人称代词代替名词,并且必须快速匹配正确的格。这个模式对于动词与宾语的关系以及介词后使用的代词尤为重要。

Person Nominative Accusative Dative
I ich mich mir
you (informal) du dich dir
he er ihn ihm
she sie sie ihr
it es es ihm
we wir uns uns
you (informal pl.) ihr euch euch
they / you (formal) sie/Sie sie/Sie ihnen/Ihnen

The formal ‘Sie’ is always capitalised and shares forms with ‘sie’ (they) but with a capital letter. Its dative is ‘Ihnen’.

尊称 Sie 始终大写,与 sie (他们) 形式相同,但首字母大写。其与格为 Ihnen。

4. Present Tense Conjugation Formulas | 现在时动词变位公式

Regular verbs follow a stem + ending pattern. The stem is the infinitive minus ‘-en’ (or ‘-n’ for verbs like ‘wandern’). Weak verbs never change their stem vowel.

规则动词遵循词干+词尾的模式。词干是不定式去掉 -en(或 -n 如 wandern)。弱变化动词从不改变词干元音。

spielen → ich spiele, du spielst, er/sie/es spielt, wir spielen, ihr spielt, sie/Sie spielen

arbeiten → ich arbeite, du arbeitest, er arbeitet, wir arbeiten, ihr arbeitet, sie arbeiten

Strong verbs with a stem vowel change affect only the ‘du’ and ‘er/sie/es’ forms. The change pattern is e → i or ie (e.g. sehen: du siehst, er sieht) and a → ä (e.g. fahren: du fährst, er fährt).

强变化动词的元音变化仅影响 du 和 er/sie/es 形式。变化规律为 e → i 或 ie(如 sehen: du siehst, er sieht)以及 a → ä(如 fahren: du fährst, er fährt)。

5. Perfect Tense: haben or sein? | 现在完成时:haben 还是 sein?

The perfect tense is formed with an auxiliary (haben/sein) in the present tense plus the past participle (ge+stem+t for weak verbs, ge+stem+en for strong verbs). The choice of auxiliary follows a clear rule.

现在完成时由现在时的助动词 haben/sein 加上过去分词构成(弱变化动词:ge+词干+t,强变化动词:ge+词干+en)。助动词的选择有明确规则。

Use ‘sein’ for verbs indicating movement from A to B or a change of state. Examples: gehen → ist gegangen, kommen → ist gekommen, werden → ist geworden, sterben → ist gestorben. Use ‘haben’ for transitive verbs and those that do not show movement or change.

表示从 A 到 B 的位移或状态变化的动词用 sein。例如:gehen → ist gegangen, kommen → ist gekommen, werden → ist geworden, sterben → ist gestorben。及物动词和不表达位移或变化的动词用 haben。

The past participle of separable verbs places ‘-ge-‘ between the prefix and the stem: aufmachen → aufgemacht. Inseparable verbs (be-, emp-, ent-, er-, ge-, miss-, ver-, zer-) do not add ‘ge-‘: verstehen → verstanden.

可分动词的过去分词将 -ge- 插入前缀和词干之间:aufmachen → aufgemacht。不可分动词(be-, emp-, ent-, er-, ge-, miss-, ver-, zer-)不加 ge-:verstehen → verstanden。

6. Modal Verbs: Present and Imperfect Patterns | 情态动词:现在时与过去时公式

The six modal verbs (dürfen, können, mögen, müssen, sollen, wollen) share a distinct conjugation pattern in the present: they do not take endings in the ich and er/sie/es forms, and the stem vowel changes in the singular.

六个情态动词 (dürfen, können, mögen, müssen, sollen, wollen) 在现在时有独特的变位模式:ich 和 er/sie/es 形式不加词尾,且单数词干元音发生变化。

können: ich kann, du kannst, er kann, wir können, ihr könnt, sie können

dürfen: ich darf, du darfst, er darf, wir dürfen, ihr dürft, sie dürfen

In the imperfect (simple past), modals drop the umlaut and use regular weak endings: konnte, durfte, musste, sollte, wollte, mochte. The ich/er form is the same: ich konnte, er konnte.

在过去时(简单过去式)中,情态动词去掉变音符号,使用规则弱变化词尾:konnte, durfte, musste, sollte, wollte, mochte。ich 和 er 形式相同:ich konnte, er konnte。

7. Adjective Endings: The Three Tables | 形容词词尾:三种变格表

Adjective endings depend on whether there is a preceding determiner and what type it is. There are three tables: weak (after der/die/das), mixed (after ein/kein/possessive), and strong (no determiner).

形容词词尾取决于前面是否有限定词以及限定词的种类。共有三种表格:弱变化(用于 der/die/das 后)、混合变化(用于 ein/kein/物主词后)和强变化(无冠词)。

Weak declension (after definite article): The adjective takes -e in nominative and accusative feminine/neuter/plural, and -en in most other spots. The pattern is very consistent: ‘der gute Wein, den guten Wein, dem guten Wein’.

弱变化(定冠词后):形容词在阴性/中性/复数的第一格和第四格加 -e,其他大多数位置加 -en。模式非常一致:der gute Wein, den guten Wein, dem guten Wein。

Mixed declension (after ein/kein/possessive): The adjective carries the strong ending where the determiner does not show gender clearly. For example, ‘ein guter Wein’ (nominative masculine), but ‘einen guten Wein’ (accusative).

混合变化(ein/kein/物主词后):当限定词没有明确显示性时,形容词需带强变化词尾。例如 ein guter Wein(阳性第一格),但 einen guten Wein(第四格)。

Strong declension (no determiner): The adjective takes the full definite article ending except in genitive masculine/neuter where it takes -en. Example: ‘guter Wein, gutes Brot, gute Milch’.

强变化(无定语):形容词承担定冠词的完整词尾,但在阳性和中性单数第二格用 -en。例如:guter Wein, gutes Brot, gute Milch。

8. Prepositions and Their Case Government | 介词及其格支配

Prepositions in German govern specific cases: some always take accusative, some always dative, and two-way prepositions can take either depending on movement versus location.

德语介词支配固定的格:部分始终支配第四格,部分始终支配第三格,而双向介词根据位移或位置来支配不同的格。

Accusative-only prepositions: durch, für, gegen, ohne, um, bis, entlang (usually postposition with accusative). Mnemonic: ‘DOGFUB’ helps.

纯第四格介词:durch, für, gegen, ohne, um, bis, entlang(通常后置跟第四格)。记忆口诀:durch-für-gegen-ohne-um。

Dative-only prepositions: aus, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu, ausser, gegenüber. These must always be followed by the dative case.

纯第三格介词:aus, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu, ausser, gegenüber。这些介词后始终用第三格。

Two-way prepositions: an, auf, hinter, in, neben, über, unter, vor, zwischen. Accusative answers ‘wohin?’ (where to?), dative answers ‘wo?’ (where at?).

双向介词:an, auf, hinter, in, neben, über, unter, vor, zwischen。第四格回答 wohin?(去哪里?),第三格回答 wo?(在哪里?)。

9. Word Order: Main and Subordinate Clauses | 语序:主句与从句规则

The verb is always the second idea in a main clause (V2 rule). The first idea can be the subject, an adverb, an object, or a subordinate clause. The finite verb stays in second position; the subject moves just after.

在主句中动词始终是第二个成分(V2规则)。第一个成分可以是主语、副词、宾语或从句。限定动词保持在第二位,主语紧随其后。

Heute gehe ich ins Kino. (Adverb first, verb second)

Ich gehe heute ins Kino. (Subject first, verb second)

In a subordinate clause introduced by a conjunction (dass, weil, obwohl, wenn, etc.), the finite verb moves to the very end of the clause. The pattern is: conjunction + subject + … + verb.

在由连词(dass, weil, obwohl, wenn 等)引导的从句中,限定动词移至从句末尾。模式为:连词 + 主语 + … + 动词。

Ich denke, dass der Film gut ist. (verb ‘ist’ at end)

If the subordinate clause comes first, the main clause then starts with the finite verb to maintain V2 overall.

如果从句居首,主句就以限定动词开头,以保持整个句子的 V2 结构。

10. Konjunktiv II: The Subjunctive Formula | 虚拟式 Konjunktiv II 公式

The Konjunktiv II is used for politeness, hypothetical wishes and conditional sentences. It is formed from the imperfect stem plus umlaut (if possible) and the subjunctive endings -e, -est, -e, -en, -et, -en.

Konjunktiv II 用于表达礼貌、假设愿望和条件句。它由过去时词干加变音(如果可能)以及虚拟式词尾 -e, -est, -e, -en, -et, -en 构成。

haben → hätte (ich hätte, du hättest, er hätte, wir hätten)

sein → wäre (ich wäre, du wärst, er wäre, wir wären)

For most other verbs, to avoid confusion with the indicative past, German uses ‘würde + infinitive’ as a substitute. Example: ‘ich würde gehen’ instead of the archaic ‘ich ginge’.

对于大多数其他动词,为避免与直陈式过去时混淆,德语用 würde + 不定式替代。例如:ich würde gehen 而非古旧的 ich ginge。

In conditional sentences (if…then), use ‘wenn’ plus Konjunktiv II. ‘Wenn ich reich wäre, würde ich ein Haus kaufen.’

在条件句(如果……那么)中,使用 wenn 加 Konjunktiv II。’Wenn ich reich wäre, würde ich ein Haus kaufen.’

11. Passive Voice: werden + Past Participle | 被动语态:werden + 过去分词

The passive is formed with the auxiliary ‘werden’ (conjugated) plus the past participle of the main verb. In the perfect passive, use ‘sein + worden’ (shortened from ‘geworden’).

被动语态由助动词 werden(变位)加上主动词的过去分词构成。在完成时被动中,用 sein + worden(geworden 的缩略形式)。

Present passive: Das Buch wird gelesen.

Perfect passive: Das Buch ist gelesen worden.

Modal verbs in the passive follow the order: modal (conjugated) + past participle + werden (infinitive). Example: ‘Das Buch muss gelesen werden.’

情态动词的被动遵循语序:情态动词(变位)+ 过去分词 + werden(原形)。例如:’Das Buch muss gelesen werden.’

12. Relative Clauses and Relative Pronouns | 关系从句与关系代词

Relative pronouns introduce a relative clause and correspond to the gender and number of the antecedent noun. Their case depends on their function in the relative clause. The forms are almost identical to the definite article, except in the genitive and dative plural.

关系代词引导关系从句,其性和数与先行词一致,格取决于其在从句中的功能。形式与定冠词几乎相同,第二格和第三格复数除外。

Case Masculine Feminine Neuter Plural
Nominative der die das die
Accusative den die das die
Dative dem der dem denen
Genitive dessen deren dessen deren

The relative verb moves to the end of the clause. Example: ‘Der Mann, der dort steht, ist mein Onkel.’ This final verb placement mirrors the subordinate clause structure.

关系从句的动词移至从句末尾。例如:’Der Mann, der dort steht, ist mein Onkel.’ 这种句末动词结构与从句规则一致。
