1. Introduction to Case Studies in OCR German | OCR 德语案例分析简介

In the OCR IGCSE German specification (J731), case study questions appear most prominently in the Writing paper (Paper 4) and in the Speaking test (Paper 2). These tasks present you with a realistic situation – for example, writing an email to a friend, leaving a note for a host family, or carrying out a role play in a hotel. The examiners want to see whether you can use German flexibly and accurately in everyday contexts, rather than just repeating memorised phrases.

在 OCR IGCSE 德语考纲 (J731) 中,案例分析题目主要出现在写作卷 (Paper 4) 和口语测试 (Paper 2) 里。这些题目会给你呈现一个真实的情境——例如给朋友写邮件、给寄宿家庭留便签,或在酒店进行角色扮演。考官希望看到你能否在日常生活中灵活、准确地使用德语,而不仅仅是重复背诵的短语。

Each case study will give you a series of bullet points that you must cover. Your answer is marked on Content, Quality of Language, and Accuracy. Understanding exactly what the task demands is the first and most vital step towards a high mark.

每个案例都会给出你必须要涵盖的几个要点。你的答案会根据内容、语言质量和准确性来评分。准确理解任务要求是取得高分的第一步,也是最重要的一步。

2. Breaking Down the Scenario | 分解情景任务

Before you write or speak, spend a minute reading the scenario carefully. Highlight or underline the key information: Who are you writing to? What is your relationship? What three or four points must you cover? Are there any specific tenses or moods hinted at (e.g. telling a past event, apologising, making a future plan)? Failing to identify the communicative purpose is one of the most common reasons for losing content marks.

在你动笔或开口之前,花一分钟仔细阅读情景。标出或划出关键信息:你是写给谁的?你们是什么关系?你必须涵盖哪三到四个要点?是否有任何特定的时态或语气暗示(例如叙述过去事件、道歉、制定未来计划)?未能识别交际目的是丢失内容分数的常见原因之一。

Let us take a typical OCR-style example: You have just moved to a new school in Germany. Write an email to your German friend to tell them about your first week. Mention: something that surprised you, a subject you enjoy, and ask a question about their school. Breaking this down, you immediately see you need past tense (something that surprised you), present tense (subject you enjoy) and an interrogative (question). The register is informal because it is to a friend.

让我们看一个典型的 OCR 式例题:你刚转到德国的一所新学校。给你的德国朋友写一封邮件,告诉他们你的第一周情况。提及:一件让你惊讶的事,一门你喜欢的学科,并就他们的学校问一个问题。 分解之后,你立刻就会发现你需要使用过去时(让你惊讶的事),现在时(喜欢的学科)以及疑问句式(问题)。语域应为非正式,因为对象是朋友。

3. Register & Formality | 语域与正式程度

Choosing the correct register is critical. If the scenario says “Schreibe eine E-Mail an deinen Freund”, you should use ‘du’ and informal greetings like ‘Lieber Max’ or ‘Hallo’. If it says “Schreibe einen Brief an die Direktorin”, you must use ‘Sie’ and a formal opening such as ‘Sehr geehrte Frau Müller’. A mismatch in register will immediately limit your Quality of Language mark, no matter how good the grammar otherwise is.

选择正确的语域至关重要。如果情景写道“给你的朋友写一封邮件”,你应使用“你(du)”和非正式问候,如“Lieber Max”或“Hallo”。如果它说“给女校长写一封信”,你必须使用“您(Sie)”以及正式的称呼,如“Sehr geehrte Frau Müller”。语域不匹配会立即限制你的语言质量得分,无论其他语法有多好。

Many candidates lose marks by mixing formal and informal styles within the same response. A sentence like ‘Könnten Sie mir bitte helfen? Mach’s gut!’ is jarring. Once you decide on the register, stick to it consistently throughout the response.

许多考生因为在同一回答中混杂正式与非正式风格而丢分。像“Könnten Sie mir bitte helfen? Mach’s gut!”这样的句子令人反感。一旦你确定了语域,就要在整个回答中始终如一。

4. Planning Your Response | 规划你的回答

For the writing paper, you are expected to produce around 80–130 words depending on the tier. A simple plan on the question paper can save you from running out of ideas or wandering off topic. Jot down one or two keywords for each bullet point, then decide on a logical order. A typical structure might be: greeting and opening sentence, bullet point 1 with a reason or example, bullet point 2 with an opinion, bullet point 3 as a question, and a closing sentence.

对于写作卷,根据级别你需要写大约 80–130 词。在试卷上列一个简单的计划可以防止你思路枯竭或跑题。为每个要点草记一两个关键词,然后确定一个合乎逻辑的顺序。典型的文章结构可以是:问候与开头句,要点1 附带原因或例子,要点2 附带观点,要点3 作为问题,以及结束句。

In the speaking role play, planning happens in the preparation time. Read the teacher’s prompts and think about what you will say. Do not try to write full sentences in your head; just note the essential phrases you will need, such as ‘Ich möchte…’, ‘Könnten Sie…’, or ‘Es tut mir leid, aber…’. This keeps your speech natural rather than scripted.

在口语角色扮演中,规划在准备时间内进行。读一下教师的提示语并想想你将说些什么。不要试图在脑海中写出完整的句子;只需记下你需要的关键短语,如“Ich möchte…”、“Könnten Sie…”或“Es tut mir leid, aber…”。这能让你的话语自然,而不是像背稿。

5. Key Vocabulary & Phrases | 关键词汇与短语

Case study tasks recycle certain functional language areas again and again. Make sure you have a bank of phrases for the following: making requests (Könntest du…?; Würden Sie…?), giving reasons (weil, da, denn), expressing opinions (Ich finde, dass…; Meiner Meinung nach…), apologising (Es tut mir leid; Ich bitte um Entschuldigung), suggesting (Wie wäre es mit…?; Wir könnten…), and thanking (Vielen Dank für…; Ich bedanke mich herzlich).

案例分析题目循环使用某些功能性语言。务必确保你掌握以下短语库:提出请求 (Könntest du…?; Würden Sie…?),给出理由 (weil, da, denn),表达观点 (Ich finde, dass…; Meiner Meinung nach…),道歉 (Es tut mir leid; Ich bitte um Entschuldigung),提建议 (Wie wäre es mit…?; Wir könnten…),以及致谢 (Vielen Dank für…; Ich bedanke mich herzlich)。

Using synonyms and varied expressions demonstrates a higher quality of language. For instance, instead of repeating ‘weil’ three times, you can alternate with ‘da’ or use a relative clause like ‘Das ist der Grund, warum…’. Similarly, instead of ‘Ich mag’, try ‘Ich interessiere mich für’ or ‘Ich bin begeistert von’.

使用同意词和多样化的表达可以展示更高的语言质量。例如,不用重复三次“weil”,你可以交替使用“da”或者使用关系从句如“Das ist der Grund, warum…”。类似地,不用“Ich mag”,可以尝试“Ich interessiere mich für”或“Ich bin begeistert von”。

6. Grammar Must-Knows | 必备语法

Certain grammar structures are almost always needed in case study responses. The perfect tense is essential for talking about what has happened (Ich habe meine neue Klasse kennengelernt). Modal verbs like ‘können’, ‘müssen’, ‘wollen’ help you express possibility, necessity or desire (Ich muss am Samstag zum Zahnarzt gehen). The future tense using ‘werden’ or the present with a future time phrase (morgen) is useful for making plans.

某些语法结构在案例分析回答中几乎总是需要。完成时对于讲述已发生的事情至关重要 (Ich habe meine neue Klasse kennengelernt)。情态动词如“können”、“müssen”、“wollen”帮助你表达可能性、必要性或愿望 (Ich muss am Samstag zum Zahnarzt gehen)。使用“werden”的将来时或带有将来时间短语 (morgen) 的现在时有用来制定计划。

Word order in subordinate clauses is a major differentiator between grade levels. After ‘weil’, ‘dass’, ‘wenn’, the conjugated verb goes to the end. Practice structures like: ‘Ich kann nicht kommen, weil ich einen Termin beim Arzt habe.’ Not ‘…weil ich habe einen Termin.’ Also, time phrases often trigger inversion: ‘Am Samstag muss ich arbeiten.’

从句中的词序是区分等级的一个主要因素。在“weil”、“dass”、“wenn”之后,变位动词置于句末。练习像这样的结构:“Ich kann nicht kommen, weil ich einen Termin beim Arzt habe.”而不是“…weil ich habe einen Termin.”此外,时间短语常引发倒装:“Am Samstag muss ich arbeiten.”

7. Writing Case Study Walkthrough | 写作案例步步通

Let us apply these ideas to a concrete written case study.

Step 1: Identify register – informal (friend Max), so use ‘Lieber Max, …’ and ‘du’. Step 2: Plan the content. Bullet 1: thank him. Bullet 2: explain reason (e.g. dentist appointment). Bullet 3: suggest meeting next weekend. Add an opening ‘Ich hoffe, dir geht’s gut’ and a closing ‘Viele Grüße’. Now write a model answer:

Analyse what makes this response strong: all bullet points are fully covered with a reason and a suggestion, a good range of tenses (present, future, perfect modal), correct subordinate clause word order after ‘dass’ and ‘wenn’, and a consistent informal tone. The word count is about 100 words, ideal for the task.

分析一下这篇回答的优点:所有要点都充分涵盖,带有原因和建议,时态丰富(现在时、将来时、含有情态动词的完成式),’dass’和’wenn’后的从句词序正确,并且自始至终保持着非正式语气。词数约 100,非常适合任务要求。

8. Speaking Role-Play Example | 口语角色扮演示例

Now consider a speaking scenario from the OCR-style role play. Situation: You are staying in a youth hostel in Germany. The teacher will play the receptionist. You need to: book a room for two nights, ask about breakfast times, and request a towel because yours is missing. The prompts are given to you in English to ensure you convey the correct message.

现在来看一个 OCR 风格的口语情景。情境:你在德国的一家青年旅舍入住。老师扮演前台接待员。你需要:预订一个两晚的房间,询问早餐时间,并因为缺少毛巾而索要一条。提示信息以英文给出,以确保你传递出正确的意思。

Your prepared phrases could be: ‘Guten Abend, ich möchte ein Zimmer für zwei Nächte reservieren.’ – ‘Um wie viel Uhr gibt es Frühstück?’ – ‘Entschuldigung, ich habe kein Handtuch auf dem Zimmer. Könnten Sie mir bitte eines bringen?’ Notice how modal verbs and polite forms are used to sound natural. Let the teacher lead the conversation but respond fully and don’t just give one-word answers.

你可以准备的短语有:“Guten Abend, ich möchte ein Zimmer für zwei Nächte reservieren.”——“Um wie viel Uhr gibt es Frühstück?”——“Entschuldigung, ich habe kein Handtuch auf dem Zimmer. Könnten Sie mir bitte eines bringen?”注意如何使用情态动词和礼貌用语来使表达自然。让老师主导对话,但回答要完整,不要只给一个词的答案。

A high-scoring candidate would extend the second turn: ‘Ich möchte gern wissen, ob das Frühst£ck im Preis inbegriffen ist und ob es auch vegetarische Optionen gibt.’ This shows initiative and complex language, moving beyond the basic prompt.

高分的考生会扩展第二个话轮:“我想请问早餐是否包含在房费内,以及是否也有素食选择。”这显示了主动性和复杂的语言运用,超越了基本的提示要求。

9. Common Pitfalls & How to Avoid Them | 常见错误及避免方法

One frequent mistake is writing far too much or too little. Over-long responses often contain more errors and can go off topic. Under-length answers fail to develop the bullet points and lose content marks. Always count your words roughly and stay within the recommended range.

一个常见错误是写得过长或过短。过长的回答往往包含更多错误并且可能跑题。过短的回答则未能展开要点,导致内容失分。务必粗略计算词数,保持在建议范围内。

Another pitfall is forgetting to change the verb ending for the ‘du’ form in informal tasks. Sentences like ‘Du magst Fußball, oder?’ are fine, but many candidate write ‘Du mögen’ by accident. Similarly, confusing ‘sein’ and ‘ihr’ is a grade-threatening error. Keep a checklist: ‘du’ goes with -st endings (du hast, du gehst); ‘Sie’ (formal) takes the infinitive ending -en (Sie haben, Sie gehen).

另一个陷阱是在非正式任务中忘记改变“你(du)”对应的动词词尾。像“Du magst Fußball, oder?”这样的句子没问题,但许多考生会不小心写出“Du mögen”。同样,混淆“sein”和“ihr”是一个影响等级的错误。记熟一个对照表:“du”与 -st 词尾相配 (du hast, du gehst);“Sie”(您)使用动词不定式结尾 -en (Sie haben, Sie gehen)。

Also, direct translations from English often lead to unnatural German. ‘Ich schaue nach zu der Party’ does not exist; use ‘zur Party gehen’. In the role play, pausing too long or speaking in English breaks the flow and loses marks. If you forget a word, describe it in simple German instead.

此外,英文直译经常导致不地道的德语。“Ich schaue nach zu der Party”这种说法不存在;应用“zur Party gehen”。在角色扮演中,停顿过久或说英语会打断流畅性并丢分。如果你忘了某个词,用简单的德语来描述它即可。

10. Mark Scheme Insights | 评分标准解读

Understanding the mark scheme gives you a clear target. For the writing case study, marks are awarded for Content (how fully you cover the bullet points), Quality of Language (range of vocabulary, use of idioms, complexity) and Accuracy (spelling, word order, verb forms, cases). A response that covers all points but is full of mistakes might get only half marks.

理解评分标准给了你一个明确的目标。写作案例分析的分值分布为:内容(你对要点涵盖的充分程度)、语言质量(词汇量、成语使用、复杂性)以及准确性(拼写、词序、动词形态、格)。一篇涵盖所有要点但错误很多的回答可能只得一半分数。

Below is a simplified overview of what examiners look for at different levels:

Band Content Quality & Accuracy
5 (top) All points fully and convincingly addressed Wide range of structures, nearly error-free; ambitious vocab
4 All points covered, some detail Good range, some errors but meaning clear
3 Most points covered Safe language, moderate accuracy, basic structures
2 Some points missed Simple short sentences, frequent errors
1 Few points attempted Very basic, accuracy heavily impedes communication

下表简要概述了考官在不同等级关注的内容:

等级 内容 质量与准确性
5(最高) 所有要点充分且有说服力地完成 结构丰富,几乎无错误;上进词汇
4 所有要点涵盖,有一定细节 良好变化,个别错误但意思清晰
3 多数要点涵盖 语言稳妥,准确性中等,基础结构
2 部分要点遗漏 简单短句,错误频繁
1 仅尝试少数要点 非常基础,准确性严重阻碍沟通

Aim to operate in the Band 4 or 5 region by always adding a reason, an opinion or a question to each bullet point. This automatically lifts content into ‘fully addressed’ territory.

力争达到 4 级或 5 级区域,方法是始终为每个要点添加一个原因、观点或问题。这能自动将内容升入“充分完成”的范畴。

11. Practice Case Studies with Tips | 练习案例与提示

Try these two additional case studies to consolidate your skills. After each, check your answer against the quick tips provided.

尝试一下这额外的两个案例来巩固你的技能。每个案例之后,对照所提供的快速提示检查你的答案。

Case Study A (writing): Your German exchange partner is visiting your town. Write an email suggesting what you could do together on Saturday. Mention: a suggestion for the morning, a place for lunch, and ask about any food allergies. Tip: Start with ‘Ich freue mich schon auf Samstag!’. Don’t forget to ask the question clearly and use ‘wenn’ clauses.

案例 A(写作): 你的德国交流伙伴将来你所在的城市。写一封邮件,提议你们周六可以一起做什么。提到:上午的一个建议,一个午餐地点,并询问任何食物过敏情况。 提示:以“Ich freue mich schon auf Samstag!”开头。别忘了清晰提问,并使用“wenn”从句。

Case Study B (speaking): You are at a German train station. The teacher plays the ticket officer. You must: buy a one-way ticket to Munich, ask about the platform number, and state that you have a BahnCard. Tip: Be polite, use ‘Ich möchte…’, ‘Könnten Sie mir sagen…’ and prepare the phrase ‘Ich habe eine BahnCard.’ Practice numbers confidently.

案例 B(口语): 你在德国火车站。老师扮演售票员。你必须:买一张去慕尼黑的单程票,询问站台号码,并说明你持有BahnCard优惠卡。 提示:要礼貌,使用“Ich möchte…”、“Könnten Sie mir sagen…”并准备好短语“Ich habe eine BahnCard”。自信地练习数字。

12. Final Advice & Exam Technique | 最后建议与考试技巧

On the day, remember that examiners are looking for what you can do, not what you cannot. Even if you make a minor slip, keep going. A coherent response with a few small errors will score much higher than one that is hesitant or abandoned. For the writing, leave two minutes to read over your work and check for basic verb endings and spelling.

考试当天,记住考官关注的是你能做什么,而不是你不能做什么。即使你犯了小错误,也要继续。一篇连贯的、有一两个小错误的回答要比犹豫不决或放弃的回答得分高得多。在写作部分,留出两分钟通读你的文章,检查基本的动词词尾和拼写。

For the speaking, smile and be friendly – this creates a positive impression and helps you relax. Do not attempt to memorise whole paragraphs; instead, internalise flexible phrases that can fit many scenarios. With regular practice of the frameworks you have learned here, you will feel fully prepared to handle any case study OCR German throws at you.

对于口语部分,微笑并保持友好——这能营造积极印象并帮助你放松。不要试图背诵整段话;相反,内化那些可以适应多种场景的灵活短语。通过经常练习你在此学到的框架,你会感到充分准备好去应对 OCR 德语考试中的任何案例分析。
