GCSE Chinese Grammar Formulas and Key Rules Quick Reference Handbook | GCSE 中文公式定理速查手册

📚 GCSE Chinese Grammar Formulas and Key Rules Quick Reference Handbook | GCSE 中文公式定理速查手册

This handbook compiles the core sentence patterns and grammar rules for the GCSE Cambridge Chinese exam into easy-to-memorise ‘formulas’. Each entry is presented as a structured pattern, much like a mathematical theorem, to help you build accurate sentences quickly and confidently. Mastering these formulas will sharpen your writing, speaking, and reading responses, giving you a significant advantage in the examination.

本手册将 GCSE 剑桥中文考试的核心句型和语法规则整理成易于记忆的“公式”,每条都以类似数学定理的结构化形式呈现,帮助你快速、自信地构建准确句子。掌握这些公式能提升你的写作、口语和阅读理解能力,在考试中占据明显优势。

1. The Core S-V-O Formula | 核心主谓宾公式

The most fundamental Chinese sentence structure follows the Subject–Verb–Object order, identical to English. However, Chinese does not use articles, and adjectives often appear before nouns without a linking verb. Always identify the actor, action, and recipient to form this basic skeleton.

最基本的中文句子结构遵循“主语–动词–宾语”的语序,与英语相同。但是,中文不使用冠词,形容词通常直接放在名词前而无须系词连接。造句时务必先确定施事者、动作和受事者,搭好骨架。

S + V + O

主语 + 动词 + 宾语

Example: 我 (I) + 吃 (eat) + 苹果 (apples) = 我吃苹果。Even when the sentence expands with adverbs, this core remains intact. All subsequent formulas refine this foundation by slotting in additional elements in fixed positions.

示例:我 + 吃 + 苹果 = 我吃苹果。即便句子通过状语扩展,这个核心仍然保持完整。后面所有的公式都是在固定位置嵌入附加成分,逐步完善这一基础。

2. The ‘是’ (to be) Theorem | “是”字定理

To link a subject with a noun, Chinese uses 是 (shì). Unlike English, 是 is never used with adjectives to describe qualities. Connecting a noun to another noun or a noun phrase is its sole linking function. This distinction prevents one of the most common learner errors.

连接主语和名词时,中文用“是”。与英语不同,“是”绝不能用于形容词描述性质。它的唯一系连功能是将名词与另一名词或名词短语连接起来。明白这一区别可以避免最常见的错误。

S + 是 + Noun / Noun Phrase

主语 + 是 + 名词/名词短语

Correct: 他是学生。Incorrect: 他是高。For adjectives, the correct pattern is S + (Adverb) + Adjective: 他很高。Use 是 only for identity and classification, for example: 我的书包是蓝色的 (My bag is the blue one, not the red one) – even here 蓝色的 functions as a noun phrase.

正确:他是学生。错误:他是高。对于形容词,正确的句式是“主语 +(程度副词)+ 形容词”:他很高。仅在表示身份和类别时使用“是”,例如:“我的书包是蓝色的”这句中“蓝色的”也属于名词短语。

3. Adverbial Placement Rule | 状语位置规则

Unlike English, Chinese adverbials of time, place, and manner almost always appear before the main verb. The fixed sequence significantly reduces ambiguity. Once you internalise the order, longer sentences become much easier to construct under exam pressure.

与英语不同,中文的时间、地点、方式状语几乎总是出现在主动词之前。这一固定顺序大大减少了歧义。一旦内化这个顺序,在考试压力下组织长句就变得容易很多。

S + Time + Place + Manner + V (+ O)

主语 + 时间 + 地点 + 方式 + 动词 (+ 宾语)

Example: 我昨天在学校用电脑写了作业。Breaking it down: 我 (S) + 昨天 (Time) + 在学校 (Place) + 用电脑 (Manner) + 写 (V) + 了作业 (O). Notice 了 and object follow the verb, while all modifiers precede it. Time can also open the sentence for emphasis: 昨天我在学校用电脑写了作业, but the pre-verbal rule still holds.

示例:我昨天在学校用电脑写了作业。拆分来看:我(主语) + 昨天(时间) + 在学校(地点) + 用电脑(方式) + 写(动词) + 了作业(宾语)。注意“了”和宾语跟随动词,所有修饰语都在动词前。时间也可置于句首以示强调:“昨天我在学校用电脑写了作业”,但动词前的规则依然成立。

4. Measure Word Principle | 量词原理

Whenever a number or demonstrative (这, 那) is combined with a noun, a measure word must be inserted. This is non-negotiable in standard Chinese. The formula acts as a bridge between quantity and entity, and using the correct measure word shows examiner-ready accuracy.

每当数词或指示代词(这、那)与名词搭配时,必须插入量词。这在标准中文里属于硬性规则。该公式在数量与事物之间搭建桥梁,使用正确的量词能向考官展示你的准确度。

Number + Measure Word + Noun

数词 + 量词 + 名词

Measure Word Usage Example
个 (gè) people, general objects 三个人 (three people)
本 (běn) books, bound volumes 一本书 (one book)
张 (zhāng) flat objects (paper, ticket) 一张票 (one ticket)
杯 (bēi) cup/glass of something 一杯水 (a glass of water)

Demonstratives follow the same template: 这 + Measure Word + Noun (这本书). Even when nouns are omitted later in conversation, the measure word remains: 你要哪本?(Which one do you want?).

指示代词也遵循同一模板:这 + 量词 + 名词(这本书)。即便后续对话中省略名词,量词依然保留:你要哪本?

5. Question Formation Formulas | 疑问句式公式

Chinese interrogative structures are highly systematic. Rather than altering word order, question formation relies on adding particle 吗, inserting question words, or offering choices. These formulas cover virtually every question type appearing in GCSE papers.

中文疑问句结构非常系统化。无需改变语序,而是依靠添加语气词“吗”、插入疑问词或提供选择来构问。以下公式覆盖了 GCSE 试卷中几乎所有的提问类型。

  • Yes/No Question: Statement + 吗?
English: 你好吗?(How are you?) Literally: ‘You good + 吗’
  • 中文:陈述句 + 吗?例如:你是学生吗?
  • Wh- Question: Question Word (什么/谁/哪儿/怎么/什么时候) + Rest of statement
    English: 你吃什么?(What do you eat?)
  • 中文:疑问词 + 其余部分。例如:他在哪儿学习?
  • Choice Question: Option A + 还是 + Option B
English: 你喝茶还是咖啡?(Do you drink tea or coffee?)
  • 中文:A + 还是 + B。例如:你去北京还是上海?
  • Affirmative-Negative Question: Verb + 不 + Verb (+ Object)?
English: 你是不是学生?(Are you a student or not?)
  • 中文:动词 + 不 + 动词 (+ 宾语)?例如:你有没有手机?

Memorise these templates and practise slotting in vocabulary. The 吗 questions are particularly high frequency in the speaking role-play task, where quick, correct formation earns easy marks.

熟记这些模板并练习替换词汇。“吗”字问句在口语角色扮演中尤其高频,快速而正确地构建问句能轻松得分。

6. The ‘了’ Aspect Marker Theorem | “了”体标记定理

了 is one of the most versatile and tested characters in GCSE Chinese. It functions primarily as a completion marker following a verb, or as a change-of-state indicator at the end of a sentence. Incorrect placement is a major error source, so treat these two patterns as separate theorems.

“了”是 GCSE 中文里最灵活、也最常考查的汉字之一。它主要作为动词后的完成体标记,或者出现在句末表示情况变化。位置错误是一大失分点,因此要把这两种用法当作不同的定理加以掌握。

(1) Completion: S + V + 了 + (O)

完成体:主语 + 动词 + 了 + (宾语)

Example: 我吃了饭 (I ate / I have eaten). This 了 emphasises that the action is finished. If the object is plain, 了 can also appear at the very end: 我吃饭了.

示例:我吃了饭。“了”强调动作已完成。如果宾语简单,“了”也可出现在句末:我吃饭了。

(2) Change of State: S + (V) + O + 了

情况变化:主语 + 动词 + 宾语 + 了

Example: 天冷了 (It has got cold). Unlike (1), this 了 marks a new situation rather than completion. Compare: 我懂了 (I understand now – change of state) vs. 我学了两年中文 (I have studied Chinese for two years – completion with duration). These subtleties appear in reading comprehension and gap fill.

示例:天冷了。与完成体不同,这个“了”标示新情况的出现。比较:我懂了(现在我明白了——状态变化)与 我学了两年中文(强调已经学完了两年——完成体加时长)。这些细微差别常出现在阅读理解和选词填空中。

7. Comparative Structures | 比较结构公式

Making comparisons accurately demonstrates advanced control. Chinese uses 比 (bǐ) for ‘than’, 跟…一样 for equality, and 没有 for inferior comparisons. Each formula has a strict word order that must not be violated.

准确进行比较能体现较高的语言掌控力。中文用“比”表示“较……”,用“跟……一样”表示同等,用“没有”表示不如。每种公式都有严格的语序,不可违反。

A + 比 + B + Adjective

A + 比 + B + 形容词

Example: 我比你高 (I am taller than you). Adverbs of degree like 很 or 非常 are not placed before the adjective here; instead, use 一点儿 or 得多 after the adjective: 我比你高得多 (much taller).

示例:我比你高。注意这里形容词前不能加“很、非常”,要用“一点儿、得多”放在形容词后:我比你高得多。

A + 跟/和 + B + 一样 (+ Adjective)

Example: 他跟我一样大 (He is the same age as me). Negative: 他跟我不一样大 or 他没有我大. The negative 没有 construction is particularly useful: 我的房间没有你的大 (My room is not as big as yours).

示例:他跟我一样大。否定式:他跟我不一样大,或者“没有”句式:我的房间没有你的大。“没有”句式十分实用。

8. The ‘把’ Sentence Theorem | “把”字句定理

The 把 construction is used when an action is performed on a specific object, causing it to change state, move, or be disposed of. It reorders the sentence so that the object is placed before the verb, following 把. Although many learners avoid it, examiners positively note its appropriate use in writing tasks.

“把”字句用于对特定宾语施加动作,使其发生状态变化、移动或被处置的情况。它把宾语提前到动词之前,置于“把”后。尽管很多学生回避使用,但考卷中恰当运用能给写作加分。

S + 把 + O + V + (Complement/了)

主语 + 把 + 宾语 + 动词 + (补语/了)

Formula breakdown: The object must be definite (the pen, the homework), and the verb usually takes a resultative complement. 我把作业做完了 (I finished the homework). This cannot be said as 我把作业做 without complement/了; the sentence would be incomplete. Common complements: 完 (finish), 好 (properly), 错 (wrongly), 干净 (clean).

公式拆解:宾语必须是确指的(那支笔、作业),动词常需带结果补语。“我把作业做完了”是对的,但“我把作业做”缺少补语/了则不成句。常用补语:完、好、错、干净。

9. The ‘被’ Passive Formula | “被”字被动公式

Passive voice in Chinese is formed with 被, which marks the agent of an action. It is used when the subject is the receiver of an action, often with an adverse or neutral outcome. This structure is common in news reports and narrative writing examined in the GCSE reading paper.

中文被动语态用“被”构成,引出动作的施事者,主语是动作的承受者,通常带有不如意或中性的结果。该结构常见于新闻报道和记叙文,GCSE 阅读卷中经常出现。

Receiver + 被 (+ Agent) + V + (Complement/了)

受事者 + 被 (+ 施事者) + 动词 + (补语/了)

Example: 我的书被他借走了 (My book was borrowed by him). The agent can be omitted if unknown: 钱包被偷了 (The wallet was stolen). Unlike English, the passive is more restricted and should not be overused; many English passives translate better into active Chinese sentences. Use this formula when the focus is on the object and the result is negative.

示例:我的书被他借走了。施事者若不明确可省略:钱包被偷了。与英语不同,中文被动式使用范围较窄,不应滥用;许多英语被动句更适合译成中文主动句。当焦点在受事者且结果往往为负面时,用此公式。

10. Complex Sentence Connectors | 复句连接词公式

Using conjunctions to combine clauses demonstrates higher-order grammatical competence. GCSE writing tasks reward the correct application of linked clauses. Treat each pair as a plug-and-play formula where the first connector sets up a condition or cause, and the second delivers the result or contrast.

使用连接词组合分句能体现高阶语法能力。GCSE 写作任务奖励正确使用关联分句。将每对连接词视为即插即用的公式,前一个引出条件或原因,后一个给出结果或转折。

  • 因为…所以… (because… therefore…): 因为下雨,所以我们没去公园。
  • 虽然…但是… (although… but…): 虽然他很累,但是他还是完成了作业。
  • 如果…就… (if… then…): 如果你有时间,我们就去看电影。
  • 只要…就… (as long as… then…): 只要你努力,就能通过考试。
  • 不但…而且… (not only… but also…): 他不但会说中文,而且会写汉字。

Each English counterpart: 因为…所以…; 虽然…但是…; 如果…就…; 只要…就…; 不但…而且… . Note that in formal writing the subject often appears in the first clause only, while the second clause can drop it if shared. Practice rewriting simple sentences into compound ones using these templates; the formulaic nature guarantees structural accuracy.

注意,在正式写作中,如果两个分句主语相同,后一分句常省略主语。练习用这些模板把简单句改写成复合句,其公式化的特性能保障结构准确。

11. Key Idiomatic Patterns | 常用固定格式公式

Beyond grammar, a set of fixed idiomatic frames appear repeatedly in GCSE reading and listening, and using them in speaking and writing adds native-like fluency. These patterns often combine a pair of words to express increase, decrease, coincidence, or exception.

除语法外,GCSE 阅读和听力中反复出现一系列固定习语框架,在口语和写作中运用它们能增添流利度。这些格式通常成对出现,表达递增、递减、巧合或例外。

除了…以外,都/还

除了中文以外,我还学法语。 (Besides Chinese, I also study French.) / 除了我以外,大家都去了。 (Everyone went except me.)

越来越 + Adj/V

天气越来越热了。 (The weather is getting hotter and hotter.) This pattern expresses continuous change and is frequently tested in sentence transformation exercises.

越…越…

她越说越激动。 (The more she talked, the more excited she became.) Note that no 了 is needed when linking two verbs.

一…就…

我一到家就给你打电话。 (I’ll call you as soon as I get home.) This pattern indicates immediate succession.

Memorising these as ready-made chunks saves time in the exam. They serve as ideal sentence openers in the written section, instantly demonstrating range.

把这些固定格式当作现成语块记忆,能在考场上节省时间。它们作为写作部分的理想开篇句,能立即展示出语言的广度。

12. Exam Strategy Theorems | 考试策略定理

Applying these formulas strategically is as important as knowing them. For the speaking role-play, the question formulas (尤其是吗, 还是, V不V) guarantee you can ask the required number of questions without hesitation. For the written piece, begin with a complex connector like 虽然…但是… and include at least one 把 or 被 construction to showcase advanced structures.

策略性地运用这些公式与掌握它们同等重要。在口语角色扮演中,问句公式(尤其是吗、还是、V不V)能保证你毫不迟疑地提出规定数量的问题。在写作中,用“虽然……但是……”等连接词开头,并至少包含一个“把”字句或“被”字句,以展示高阶结构。

Paper Component Key Formula to Deploy
Speaking – Role Play 吗 questions, 还是 choice questions
Speaking – Topic Conversation 因为…所以…; 越来越
Writing – Short Essay 把 sentence, 虽然…但是…, 除了…以外…还
Listening & Reading 被 passive, 一…就…, 越…越…

During revision, turn each formula into a flashcard with the structure on one side and a personalised example on the other. This transforms abstract rules into automatic output. Remember: exam success in GCSE Chinese is built on the reliable application of a limited set of patterns – precisely the theorems in this handbook.

复习时,把每条公式制成抽认卡,正面写结构,反面写一个个性化例句。这样能将抽象规则转化为自动输出。记住:GCSE 中文考试的成功建立在有限模式的可靠应用之上——正是本手册中的定理。
