1. Force and Resultant Forces: Misunderstanding Equilibrium | 力与合力:误解平衡

Misconception: Students often believe that if an object is moving with constant velocity, a net force must be acting on it to keep it moving. They also think that the reaction force is always equal to the weight of an object resting on a surface.

误区:学生常认为如果物体以恒定速度运动,必定有净外力作用于它以维持运动。他们还认为放在表面上的物体的反作用力总是等于其重量。

Correction: According to Newton’s First Law, an object continues in its state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by a net external force. Constant velocity means zero resultant force; the forces are balanced. The reaction force is a contact force that adjusts to maintain equilibrium; it is not automatically equal to weight.
