10. Memory Hacks for Legal Terms |

Acronyms: Create short words from initial letters, e.g., A.M.S. for Actus Reus, Mens Rea, Strict Liability – the core trio of criminal law. Visualise an ambulance (A.M.S.) rushing to a crime scene.

Paired Keywords: Link terms into memorable pairs: ‘Offender = Offer + Acceptance’ (and then consider), ‘Tort = Tripping on a rug’ (negligence). Use vivid mental images.

Flowcharts: Draw a simple diagram for the court hierarchy: Magistrates’ → Crown → Court of Appeal → Supreme Court. Add arrows and colours to reinforce the path of an appeal.

Role-Play and Stories: Invent a short scenario where a solicitor instructs a barrister, the jury delivers a verdict, and the judge sentences – saying the words aloud cements the sequence.

Flashcard Drill: On one side write the legal term, on the back the definition and a Chinese hint. Shuffle and test yourself daily for five minutes.
