Edexcel GCSE Chinese: Course Structure and Revision Methods – Edexcel GCSE 中文:课程结构与复习方法

1. Edexcel GCSE Chinese Exam Structure: Four Papers, 25% Each | Edexcel GCSE

Edexcel GCSE Chinese (specification code 1CN0) is Pearson Edexcel’s Chinese language qualification for secondary school students in the UK. The whole qualification is made up of four papers: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing, each worth 25% of the total mark. This means no single paper can decide your final grade on its own, and balanced progress across all four skills is the key to a top grade. The exam is offered at two tiers: Foundation (grades up to 5) and Higher (grades up to 9), and you choose the tier that suits your level.

四张试卷都同时考查语言理解和语言产出的能力,但侧重点不同:听力与阅读属于输入型技能(receptive skills),口语与写作属于输出型技能(productive skills)。许多同学容易重输入、轻输出,平时只顾着背单词和做阅读理解,到了口语和写作就无话可说。正确的备考思路应该是四种技能同时推进,用输入来积累素材,用输出来检验掌握程度。

All four papers test both understanding and production of language, but with different emphases: Listening and Reading are receptive skills, while Speaking and Writing are productive skills. Many students over-practise input and neglect output, spending all their time memorising vocabulary and doing reading comprehension, only to find they have nothing to say in Speaking and Writing. The right approach is to develop all four skills together: use input to accumulate material, and use output to test how well you have truly mastered it.

2. The Three Core Themes: Identity, Local Area, School and Future | 三个核心主题:身份与文化、本地与旅行、学校与未来

爱德思 GCSE 中文的全部考试内容都围绕三个核心主题(themes)展开。主题一为身份与文化(Identity and culture),涵盖个人关系、家庭、朋友、日常生活、科技、传媒与文化习俗;主题二为本地、假日与旅行(Local area, holiday and travel),涵盖家乡、城市、交通、度假与旅游经历;主题三为学校、未来志向、学习与工作(School, future aspirations, study and work),涵盖校园生活、科目选择、职业理想与工作经历。所有听力材料、阅读文章、口语话题和写作任务都从这三个主题中出题。

All of the Edexcel GCSE Chinese assessment is built around three core themes. Theme 1 is Identity and culture: personal relationships, family, friends, daily life, technology, media and cultural customs. Theme 2 is Local area, holiday and travel: hometown, town and city, transport, holidays and travel experiences. Theme 3 is School, future aspirations, study and work: school life, subject choices, career ambitions and work experience. Every listening passage, reading text, speaking topic and writing task is drawn from these three themes.

备考时要围绕主题建立自己的素材库。比如针对主题三,你应当准备好几个必答问题:你最喜欢哪门科目?为什么?未来想从事什么职业?你理想中的工作是什么样的?每个问题准备三到四句可以灵活套用的中文表达,并记住对应的英文翻译。这样做的好处是:无论考试怎么出题,你都能从素材库中提取相关内容,而不是在考场上临时组织语言。

When revising, build your own bank of material around the three themes. For example, for Theme 3 you should prepare answers to the essential questions: which subject do you like most and why? What career do you want in the future? What does your ideal job look like? Prepare three or four flexible Chinese sentences for each question, together with their English translations. The benefit is that no matter how the exam questions are phrased, you can draw from your bank instead of organising language from scratch under exam pressure.

历年真题显示,口语和写作题目几乎全部可以在三个主题中找到对应的准备素材。因此,建议你用一张思维导图把三个主题展开:每个主题下列出子话题、常用词汇 20 个、句型 5 个和万能例句 3 句。这张图就是你整个复习周期的主干,后续所有真题练习都可以挂在这张图上进行。

Past papers show that almost every Speaking and Writing question can be matched to material within the three themes. So build a mind map that expands all three themes: under each theme list sub-topics, 20 key words, 5 sentence patterns and 3 all-purpose example sentences. This map becomes the backbone of your entire revision cycle, and every past-paper question you practise can be attached to it.

3. Listening: Exam Format and Intensive Listening Drills | 听力部分:考试形式与精听训练法

听力试卷考查你理解中文口语信息的能力,录音由母语者以正常语速朗读,内容涵盖日常对话、公告、电话留言、新闻报道等多种形式。题目要求通常分为两类:一类用英文提问和作答,另一类用中文提问和作答。常见题型包括选择题、填空题、匹配题和简答题。考试时每段录音会播放两遍,这给了你补漏的机会,但同时也意味着第一遍就必须集中注意力,第二遍只用来检查。

The Listening paper tests your ability to understand spoken Chinese. The recordings are read by native speakers at natural speed and include everyday conversations, announcements, phone messages, news reports and other formats. Questions come in two types: those asked and answered in English, and those asked and answered in Chinese. Common question formats include multiple choice, gap-fill, matching and short-answer questions. Each recording is played twice, which gives you a chance to catch what you missed, but it also means you must concentrate fully on the first play and use the second play only for checking.

精听训练(intensive listening)是提升听力最有效的方法,没有之一。具体做法分四步:第一步,不看原文完整听一遍,尝试抓住大意;第二步,逐句暂停,把听到的每个字写下来,写不出来的地方用横线标出;第三步,对照原文找出没有听出来的词,分析是生词、连读还是语速问题;第四步,合上原文再完整听两遍,直到每个词都能听清为止。每周做三次精听,每次 20 分钟,坚持一个月,听力水平会有肉眼可见的提升。

Intensive listening is by far the most effective way to improve your listening. Do it in four steps. Step one: listen to the whole passage without the transcript and try to grasp the general meaning. Step two: pause after each sentence and write down every character you hear, marking anything you cannot catch with a line. Step three: check the transcript to find the words you missed and analyse whether the problem was an unknown word, connected speech or speed. Step four: close the transcript and listen again twice, until you can hear every word clearly. Do three intensive listening sessions of 20 minutes per week for a month, and you will see visible improvement.

听力数字和时间的听辨是高频考点:电话号码、价格、日期、星期、时刻、年龄等几乎每年必考。建议专门训练数字听力,把 0 到 100 以及百、千、万等大数反复听写,同时熟悉”半””一刻””差五分”等时间表达。考试时如果遇到听不懂的单词,不要慌张,根据上下文和说话人的语气推测意思,大多数情况下你不需要听懂每个词也能答对题目。

Numbers and time expressions are high-frequency test points: phone numbers, prices, dates, days of the week, times and ages appear almost every year. Train number listening specifically: dictate 0 to 100 repeatedly, plus larger numbers such as hundred, thousand and ten thousand, and become familiar with time expressions like “half past”, “a quarter past” and “five to”. If you meet a word you do not understand in the exam, do not panic: infer the meaning from context and the speaker’s tone. In most cases you can answer correctly without understanding every single word.

4. Speaking: Read-Aloud, Picture Discussion and Conversation |

The Speaking exam consists of three tasks and is recorded throughout; the examiner follows a script set by the specification. Task 1 is read-aloud: after silent preparation, you read aloud a short passage of about 60 to 80 characters, then answer two related questions, one asked in Chinese and one in English. Task 2 is picture-based discussion: the examiner shows you a picture and you answer two questions about it. Task 3 is the conversation: the examiner holds a 4 to 6 minute free conversation with you on two themes. This is the highest-value part of the whole oral exam.

朗读任务看似简单,却最容易丢分。丢分原因通常是三个:一是声调不准,把第二声读成第三声;二是语速失控,要么过快导致吞音,要么过慢显得不流利;三是停顿不当,在词与词之间随意停顿破坏了句子的意群。训练方法是每天跟读课文录音 15 分钟,模仿母语者的声调、节奏和重音,并把自己的朗读录下来回放,逐句对比找差距。

The read-aloud task looks simple but is where marks are most often lost, usually for three reasons: tones are inaccurate (a second tone read as a third tone); speed is uncontrolled, either too fast with swallowed syllables or too slow and halting; and pauses fall in the wrong places, breaking the natural word groups of the sentence. The training method is to follow the textbook recordings aloud for 15 minutes every day, imitating the tones, rhythm and stress of native speakers, and to record yourself reading, then play it back and compare sentence by sentence.

图片讨论和对话环节要掌握”先直接回答,再展开说明”的结构。面对问题先给出明确答案,比如”我最喜欢冬天”,然后用一两句话补充理由,比如”因为冬天可以滑雪,而且新年也在冬天”。这样每道题都能形成”观点加理由”的完整回答。对话环节中如果没听懂问题,可以礼貌地请考官重复:”对不起,我没有听清楚,请您再说一遍好吗?”这句话本身就能展示你的语言能力。

For the picture discussion and conversation, master the structure of “answer directly first, then expand”. Give a clear answer to the question, for example “I like winter best”, then add one or two sentences of reasons, for example “because I can go skiing in winter, and New Year also falls in winter”. In this way every answer forms a complete “opinion plus reason” response. In the conversation, if you do not understand a question, politely ask the examiner to repeat: “Sorry, I did not hear clearly, could you say it again please?” That sentence itself demonstrates your language ability.

5. Reading: Question Types and Word-Guessing Strategies | 阅读部分:题型拆解与猜词策略

阅读试卷提供多篇不同体裁的中文文本,包括广告、邮件、博客、采访、新闻报道、故事节选等。题目同样分英文作答和中文作答两类。常考题型有:多项选择、信息匹配、判断正误、简答题和翻译题(把中文句子译成英文)。阅读文本的难度按层级递增,高级层试卷还会包含两篇较长的延伸阅读文章。

The Reading paper presents several Chinese texts in different genres, including advertisements, emails, blogs, interviews, news reports and story extracts. Questions are again divided into English-answer and Chinese-answer types. Frequent formats include multiple choice, information matching, true or false, short answers and translation (translating Chinese sentences into English). Text difficulty rises with the tier, and the Higher tier paper also includes two longer extended-reading passages.

阅读中遇到生词是常态,但几乎所有的生词都可以通过三种策略解决。第一种是偏旁猜词法:看到带”氵”的字往往与水有关,带”火”的字与火有关,带”讠”的字与说话有关。第二种是上下文推测法:根据前后句的逻辑关系判断生词的大致含义。第三种是词形拆解法:许多合成词由两个熟字组成,比如”机场”由”机”和”场”组成,即使没见过这个词,也能猜出它是飞机停放的地方。

Meeting unknown words in reading is normal, but almost every unknown word can be solved with three strategies. The first is the radical method: characters with the water radical are usually related to water, those with the fire radical to fire, and those with the speech radical to speaking. The second is context guessing: use the logical relationship of surrounding sentences to work out the approximate meaning. The third is word decomposition: many compound words are made of two familiar characters, for example “airport” is composed of “machine” and “field”, so even if you have never seen the word, you can guess it is the place where planes stay.

做题顺序上建议先读题后读文。先看题目能让你带着目标去阅读,快速定位答案所在的段落。对于翻译题,先逐词直译,再按英语语序调整,最后通读检查是否通顺。判断正误题要注意题目中的绝对化表述,如”所有””从来不”等词,这些往往是陷阱,因为原文通常不会用绝对化的语气。

As for question order, read the questions before the texts. Reading the questions first lets you read with a goal and quickly locate the paragraph containing the answer. For translation questions, translate word by word first, then adjust to English word order, and finally read through to check fluency. For true or false questions, watch out for absolute expressions in the statements such as “all” or “never”: these are often traps, because the original text rarely uses such absolute language.

6. Writing: Layered Practice from Sentences to Essays | 写作部分:从句子到短文的分层训练

写作试卷要求你用中文完成若干写作任务:基础层包括填写表格、写短信息或邮件、写一段短文,高级层还包括翻译题(把英文译成中文)和一篇较长的文章。写作评分主要看四个维度:内容与任务完成度、信息组织与连贯性、语言的范围与准确性、拼写与标点。也就是说,光写得多不够,还要写得准、写得有条理。

The Writing paper asks you to complete several writing tasks in Chinese: at Foundation tier these include filling in forms, writing short messages or emails and writing a short paragraph, while the Higher tier adds translation (English into Chinese) and a longer essay. Writing is marked on four criteria: content and task fulfilment, organisation and coherence, range and accuracy of language, and spelling and punctuation. In other words, writing a lot is not enough: you must also write accurately and in a well-organised way.

写作提分的第一要务是保证句子正确。先练三种基础句型:主谓句(我学习中文)、主谓宾句(我喜欢听音乐)、”是”字句(我的梦想是成为一名医生)。每种句型各写十个正确的句子,做到零错误之后,再练习把两个简单句用”因为””所以””但是”连接成复合句。复合句是写作拿高分的关键,因为它同时展示了你的语法广度和逻辑能力。

The first priority for improving writing is sentence accuracy. Practise three basic sentence patterns first: subject-verb sentences, subject-verb-object sentences, and “shi” (to be) sentences. Write ten correct sentences for each pattern; once you can do that with zero errors, practise joining two simple sentences into compound sentences using words such as “because”, “so” and “but”. Compound sentences are the key to top marks in writing, because they show both your grammatical range and your logical ability at the same time.

考前要把三个主题各准备一篇 80 字左右的范文并背熟。范文应当包含:一个清晰的开头句、三到四个要点、至少两个连接词、一个结尾句。背诵不是目的,目的是让你在考场上能够迅速提取出合适的句子框架,再填入与题目相关的具体内容。千万不要在考场上整篇默写背过的文章,评卷官会发现内容与题目不符,分数反而会低。

Before the exam, prepare and memorise one model essay of about 80 characters for each of the three themes. Each model essay should contain: a clear opening sentence, three or four key points, at least two linking words, and a closing sentence. Memorisation is not the goal itself: the goal is to let you quickly retrieve a suitable sentence frame in the exam and fill it with content relevant to the question. Never recite a whole memorised essay in the exam: the examiner will notice that the content does not match the question, and your mark will actually be lower.

7. Character System: Recognise, Write, Use | 汉字学习系统:认、写、用三通道

汉字是中文学习的难点,也是 GCSE 中文拿高分的分水岭。很多同学能听懂、会说,但一写就错,问题往往出在把汉字当成图画来死记硬背。汉字其实是有规律的:约 90% 的常用字是形声字,由表意的形旁和表音的声旁组成。比如”清””晴””请””情”四个字共享声旁”青”,读音相近,而形旁分别表示水、日、言、心,意义各不相同。

Chinese characters are the hardest part of learning Chinese and the dividing line between good and top GCSE grades. Many students can understand and speak, but make writing mistakes because they treat characters as pictures to be memorised by rote. Characters actually follow patterns: about 90% of common characters are phonetic compounds, made up of a meaning radical and a sound component. For example, the four characters for “clear”, “fine weather”, “please” and “feeling” share the sound component “qing”, so they sound similar, while their radicals meaning water, sun, speech and heart give each a different meaning.

建议用”认、写、用”三通道系统来学习汉字。认:每天用闪卡复习 15 个生字,只要求看到字能读出音、说出意思。写:每个生字在本子上写三遍,写的时候要按笔画顺序,边写边念。用:把当天学的生字放进短语和句子中使用,比如学了”旅”就写”旅行””旅客””旅馆”。三通道同时进行,记忆效果远好于单纯抄写。每周再安排一次”周测”,请家长或同学报中文,你写汉字,检验本周所有生字。

Use a three-channel system of “recognise, write, use” to learn characters. Recognise: review 15 new characters with flashcards every day, aiming only to read the sound and state the meaning on sight. Write: write each character three times in your notebook, following the correct stroke order and saying it aloud as you write. Use: put the day’s new characters into phrases and sentences, for example after learning the character for “travel”, write “trip”, “traveller” and “hotel”. Running all three channels at once is far more effective than pure copying. Arrange a weekly quiz: ask a parent or classmate to say the words in Chinese while you write the characters, testing all characters learned that week.

容易写错的字要单独建立”错字本”。每次批改作业或试卷时,把写错的字连同正确写法记下来,标注错误类型:多了一笔、少了一笔、偏旁混淆还是结构颠倒。考前一周集中复习错字本,能有效避免在同一类错误上反复丢分。此外,简繁转换也是 GCSE 中文考生的常见失分点:爱德思 GCSE 中文接受简体字和繁体字作答,但你必须始终使用同一种字体,混用会因前后不一致而扣分。

Keep a separate “mistakes book” for characters you often get wrong. Every time you mark homework or a paper, write down the wrong character together with the correct form, and note the error type: one stroke too many, one stroke missing, confused radical, or reversed structure. Reviewing the mistakes book intensively in the week before the exam prevents repeated mark loss on the same type of error. Also, simplified-traditional conversion is a common point loss for GCSE Chinese candidates: Edexcel GCSE Chinese accepts answers in either simplified or traditional characters, but you must consistently use one system, and mixing the two will lose marks for inconsistency.

8. Core Grammar Checklist: Measure Words, Ba-Construction, Complements and Aspect | 核心语法清单:量词、把字句、补语与时态

GCSE 中文的语法考查范围明确而有限,掌握以下四大语法板块就足以覆盖考试要求。第一板块是量词:中文的数词不能直接修饰名词,必须用量词连接,如”一本书””两杯茶””三张票”。量词与名词的搭配需要逐个记忆,这是中国学生习以为常、但外国考生最容易出错的地方。

The grammar tested in GCSE Chinese is clearly defined and limited: mastering the following four major areas covers the exam requirements. The first is measure words: in Chinese, numbers cannot directly modify nouns but must be linked by a measure word, for example “one book”, “two cups of tea”, “three tickets”. The pairing of measure words with nouns must be memorised one by one: it is second nature to Chinese students but one of the easiest places for foreign candidates to make mistakes.

第二板块是把字句。把字句是中文特有的句式,用来强调对宾语的处理,结构为”主语+把+宾语+动词+其他成分”,例如”我把作业写完了””他把书放在桌子上了”。考试中把字句常出现在听力与阅读的细节题里,写作时正确使用一次把字句,也能让评卷官立刻看出你的语法水平。判断依据很简单:动词对宾语有处置或影响的动作,就可以考虑使用把字句。

The second area is the ba-construction. The ba-construction is a sentence pattern unique to Chinese, used to emphasise the handling of an object, with the structure “subject + ba + object + verb + other elements”, for example “I have finished my homework” or “He put the book on the table”. In the exam, ba-constructions often appear in listening and reading detail questions, and using one correctly in your writing immediately signals your grammatical level to the examiner. The rule of thumb is simple: when the verb performs an action of handling or influence on the object, the ba-construction is a natural choice.

The third area is complements. A complement is an element placed after a verb or adjective to add further information, and there are four main types: result complements, directional complements, potential complements and degree complements. The fourth area is tense and aspect. Chinese has no verb conjugation: time is expressed with time words and aspect particles. “Le” marks completion, “zhe” marks an ongoing state, and “guo” marks past experience. When writing essays, do not overuse “le”: use it once per completed event, or the sentence will sound clumsy.

语法复习建议用”例句驱动法”:不要背语法术语,而是每个语法点背三个地道的例句。比如学习”着”,就背”他正在看着电视””门开着呢””她穿着一件红衣服”。考试时遇到语法题,先在心里默念相关例句,对照例句的结构来判断选项,准确率会大幅提高。

For grammar revision, use the example-driven method: do not memorise grammatical terminology; instead memorise three natural example sentences for each grammar point. For example, when learning “zhe”, memorise “He is watching TV”, “The door is open” and “She is wearing a red dress”. In the exam, when you meet a grammar question, silently recall the relevant example sentences and judge the options against their structures: your accuracy will rise significantly.

9. The 12-Week Revision Timetable | 考前 12 周复习时间表

有效的复习需要计划,而计划必须具体到每周做什么。以下是一份 12 周复习时间表,按”基础巩固、专项突破、模拟冲刺”三个阶段设计,每周投入约 5 到 6 小时,完全可以在不影响其他科目的前提下完成。

Effective revision needs a plan, and the plan must be specific about what to do each week. Below is a 12-week revision timetable designed in three phases: foundation consolidation, skill-specific breakthroughs, and mock-exam sprint. Investing about 5 to 6 hours per week, you can complete it without affecting your other subjects.

周次 Weeks 阶段 Phase 重点内容 Focus

Three principles apply when using this timetable. First, cover all four skills every week: even 20 minutes per skill is fine, but never spend a whole week on one skill only. Second, wrong answers matter more than new questions: after each paper, spend as much time analysing and recording your errors as you did doing it. This is far more effective than blindly doing more papers. Third, keep the timetable flexible: if school homework is heavy one week, you can cut speaking practice to 10 minutes, but do not cancel it completely.

10. Using Past Papers and Mock Papers Effectively | 真题与模拟卷的正确用法

真题是备考中最宝贵的资源,但很多同学的使用方式并不正确:做完对答案就扔到一边,然后开始做下一套。正确做法是把每一套真题至少用三遍。第一遍按考试要求限时完成,模拟真实考场节奏;第二遍在三天后重做,只做错题和蒙对的题,检验是否真正掌握;第三遍在一周后,把整套试卷的听力录音再听一遍,边听边回忆考点,并用口语把每道听力题的答案说一遍。

Past papers are the most valuable resource in your revision, but many students use them wrongly: they mark the answers and throw the paper aside, then start the next one. The right way is to use each paper at least three times. The first time, complete it under timed exam conditions to simulate the real test rhythm. The second time, three days later, redo only the questions you got wrong or guessed: this tests whether you have truly mastered them. The third time, one week later, listen to the listening recordings again, recalling the test points as you listen, and say each listening answer aloud in Chinese.

模拟卷与真题要区分对待。官方发布的真题(包括旧版大纲的题目)最具参考价值,因为题型和难度与真实考试一致。其他出版社的模拟卷可以用于练习速度和熟悉题型,但个别模拟卷的难度或口音可能与真题有偏差,成绩仅供参考,不要因为模拟卷分数波动而影响心态。无论做哪套卷子,都要严格计时,并模拟真实考试环境:桌上只有笔、橡皮和试卷,不能查字典、不能看手机。

Treat mock papers differently from past papers. Official past papers, including those from the previous specification, are the most valuable reference because their question types and difficulty match the real exam. Mock papers from other publishers can be used to practise speed and familiarise yourself with formats, but some may deviate from the real exam in difficulty or accent, so treat their scores as indicative only and do not let fluctuations affect your confidence. Whatever paper you do, time it strictly and simulate real exam conditions: only a pen, an eraser and the paper on your desk, no dictionary and no phone.

建立错题本时要分类记录:听力错题注明是词汇问题、数字问题还是连读问题;阅读错题注明是定位失败、理解偏差还是时间不够;语法错题注明具体的语法点。每周日花 30 分钟重做本周所有错题。数据显示,坚持这样做四个星期的学生,平均每个技能模块能提高 5 到 8 分,效果远超多做两套新卷子。

When building your error notebook, record by category: for listening errors note whether the problem was vocabulary, numbers or connected speech; for reading errors note whether it was failed location, misunderstanding or running out of time; for grammar errors note the specific grammar point. Every Sunday, spend 30 minutes redoing all the errors from that week. Data shows that students who keep this up for four weeks improve by 5 to 8 marks per skill module on average, far more than doing two extra new papers.

11. Exam-Day Strategies and Time Allocation | 考试当天策略与时间分配

考试当天的表现同样影响最终分数。第一,提前确认考试时间和考场位置,至少提前 30 分钟到达,避免因迟到而慌乱。第二,检查文具:黑色签字笔至少两支、铅笔、橡皮,口语考试前还要带上准考证。第三,听力考试前闭目养神两分钟,让大脑进入专注状态,不要与同学讨论题目,以免干扰心态。

Your performance on exam day affects your final mark too. First, confirm the exam time and venue in advance and arrive at least 30 minutes early to avoid the panic of being late. Second, check your stationery: at least two black pens, a pencil and an eraser, plus your exam slip for the Speaking test. Third, close your eyes and relax for two minutes before the Listening paper to let your brain enter a focused state, and do not discuss questions with classmates, which only unsettles your mindset.

Time allocation strategies per paper: in Listening there is no chance to go back, so write your answers as soon as the recording stops, without hesitation; in Reading, do the questions you are sure of first, skip any that stall you and return to them at the end, since Reading carries a high mark total and it is better to abandon one hard question than to leave others unanswered; in Writing, spend 3 minutes planning an outline before writing, and keep the last 5 minutes to check characters and punctuation. In the Speaking exam, slow down a little: speaking clearly matters more than speaking quickly, and when you cannot find a word, natural fillers such as “that” or “how should I put it” buy you thinking time.

Summary | 总结

Edexcel GCSE 中文的备考可以总结为三句话:吃透结构,四张试卷各占 25%,听说读写均衡推进;吃透主题,三个核心主题是全部题目的来源,围绕主题建立词汇、句型和素材库;吃透方法,精听、朗读跟读、猜词三策略、分层写作、12 周时间表、真题三遍法,每一个方法都经过验证,关键是坚持执行。

Revision for Edexcel GCSE Chinese can be summarised in three points: master the structure, four papers at 25% each, with balanced progress across listening, speaking, reading and writing; master the themes, the three core themes are the source of every question, so build vocabulary, sentence patterns and material banks around them; and master the methods, intensive listening, read-aloud shadowing, three word-guessing strategies, layered writing practice, the 12-week timetable and the three-pass past-paper method, every one of which is proven, with the key being consistent execution.
