📚 French Year 2 Mastery: Grammar, Topics and Exam Skills | 法语第二年精通:语法、话题与应试技巧

Welcome to the French Year 2 revision guide. This article focuses on the advanced grammar, topic-specific vocabulary and exam strategies that distinguish top A-level candidates from the rest.

欢迎阅读法语第二年复习指南。本文重点讲解高级语法、话题词汇和考试策略,这些都是 A-level 法语高分考生脱颖而出的关键。

Year 2 of A-level French moves beyond everyday communication. You are expected to debate social issues, analyse films and literature, and manipulate complex structures such as the subjunctive, passive voice and compound relative pronouns. Use this guide alongside your past papers and speaking notes.

A-level 法语第二年不再局限于日常交流。你需要能够讨论社会议题、分析电影和文学作品,并熟练运用虚拟式、被动语态和复合关系代词等复杂结构。请将本指南与历年真题和口语笔记配合使用。

1. Subjunctive Formation and Core Triggers | 虚拟式的构成与核心触发词

The present subjunctive is formed by taking the third-person plural present indicative stem, removing -ent, and adding the endings -e, -es, -e, -ions, -iez, -ent. For example, from ‘ils parlent’ we get ‘que je parle’, ‘que nous parlions’.

现在时虚拟式由直陈式现在时第三人称复数的词干去掉 -ent,再加上 -e、-es、-e、-ions、-iez、-ent 构成。例如,从 ‘ils parlent’ 可以得到 ‘que je parle’、’que nous parlions’。

The subjunctive is required after expressions of necessity, desire, emotion and doubt, as well as after many conjunctions. A-level examiners reward accurate use in argumentative essays and speaking.

在表示必要性、愿望、情感和怀疑的表达之后,以及许多连词之后,都需要使用虚拟式。A-level 考官在议论文和口语中会对虚拟式的准确使用给予加分。

Trigger type | 触发类型 Examples | 示例
Desire / will | 愿望 vouloir que, souhaiter que, exiger que
Emotion | 情感 regretter que, craindre que, être content que
Doubt / uncertainty | 怀疑 douter que, il est peu probable que, il n’est pas sûr que

Remember that ‘espérer que’ takes the indicative because it expresses confidence rather than doubt. This is a classic A-level trap.

请记住,’espérer que’ 后面接直陈式,因为它表达的是信心而不是怀疑。这是 A-level 考试中的经典陷阱。

2. High-value Subjunctive Triggers for Essays | 议论文中的高分虚拟式触发词

Using a varied range of subjunctive triggers can improve your essay style. For example, ‘Bien que ce soit difficile, il faut accepter que la société change’ shows precise grammar and a balanced argument.

使用多样化的虚拟式触发词能够提升你的文章风格。例如,’Bien que ce soit difficile, il faut accepter que la société change’ 体现了精确的语法和均衡的论证。

Useful triggers include ‘pour que’, ‘afin que’, ‘à condition que’, ‘en attendant que’, ‘sans que’, ‘bien que’, ‘quoique’, ‘pourvu que’ and ‘de peur que’. These allow you to build complex sentences in speaking and writing.

常用的触发词包括 ‘pour que’、’afin que’、’à condition que’、’en attendant que’、’sans que’、’bien que’、’quoique’、’pourvu que’ 和 ‘de peur que’。它们能帮助你在口语和写作中构建复杂句式。

In the oral exam, try to include two or three subjunctive structures naturally. For example: ‘Je regrette que le gouvernement ne fasse pas plus pour les sans-abri.’

在口语考试中,尽量自然地使用两到三个虚拟式结构。例如:’Je regrette que le gouvernement ne fasse pas plus pour les sans-abri.’

3. Complex Relative Pronouns: dont, lequel, auquel, duquel | 复合关系代词:dont、lequel、auquel、duquel

The relative pronoun ‘dont’ replaces ‘de + noun’. It is used after verbs and expressions that take ‘de’, such as ‘parler de’, ‘avoir besoin de’, ‘se souvenir de’. Example: ‘Le livre dont je parle est passionnant.’

关系代词 ‘dont’ 替代 ‘de + 名词’。它用于接 ‘de’ 的动词和表达之后,例如 ‘parler de’、’avoir besoin de’、’se souvenir de’。例句:’Le livre dont je parle est passionnant.’

When ‘de’ is attached to a compound preposition or a noun phrase, ‘dont’ is replaced by ‘duquel’, ‘de laquelle’, ‘desquels’ or ‘desquelles’. Example: ‘La table près de laquelle je suis assis est ancienne.’

当 ‘de’ 附着在复合介词或名词短语后时,’dont’ 要换成 ‘duquel’、’de laquelle’、’desquels’ 或 ‘desquelles’。例句:’La table près de laquelle je suis assis est ancienne.’

‘Lequel’ and its forms are used after prepositions other than ‘de’ when referring to things. Example: ‘Le projet auquel je participe est important.’ A-level translation papers often test this distinction.

‘Lequel’ 及其变体用于除 ‘de’ 之外的介词后,指代事物。例句:’Le projet auquel je participe est important.’ A-level 翻译试卷经常考查这一区别。

4. The Past Historic: Recognition for Literary Texts | 历史过去时:文学作品中的识别

You do not need to produce the past historic in A-level writing, but you must recognise it when reading set texts. It is the literary equivalent of the passé composé and describes completed past actions in narrative.

在 A-level 写作中你不需要主动使用历史过去时,但在阅读指定文本时必须能够识别它。它相当于文学叙事中的复合过去时,用来描述过去完成的动作。

Regular endings include -a, -èrent for -er verbs, and -it, -irent for -ir/-re verbs. Common irregular stems include ‘eut’ (avoir), ‘fut’ (être), ‘fit’ (faire), ‘vint’ (venir) and ‘dit’ (dire).

规则词尾包括 -er 动词的 -a、-èrent,以及 -ir/-re 动词的 -it、-irent。常见的不规则词干包括 ‘eut’(avoir)、’fut’(être)、’fit’(faire)、’vint’(venir)和 ‘dit’(dire)。

When analysing a novel or film scene, identify the past historic to explain how the narrator creates pace and completed action. This shows high-level literary awareness.

在分析小说或电影场景时,识别历史过去时有助于解释叙述者如何营造节奏和完成感。这体现了高水平的文学分析意识。

5. Past Participle Agreement: Advanced Cases | 过去分词的配合:高级规则

The past participle agrees with a preceding direct object when using avoir. Example: ‘Les décisions que le gouvernement a prises sont controversées’ because ‘que’ refers to ‘les décisions’ before the verb.

使用 avoir 时,过去分词要与前置的直接宾语保持性数一致。例句:’Les décisions que le gouvernement a prises sont controversées’,因为 ‘que’ 指代动词前的 ‘les décisions’。

With reflexive verbs, the participle agrees with the reflexive pronoun if it is a direct object. Example: ‘Elle s’est lavée’ but ‘Elle s’est lavé les mains’ because the direct object ‘les mains’ follows the verb.

在代词式动词中,如果自反代词是直接宾语,过去分词要与它配合。例句:
