A business is any organisation that uses resources to produce goods or services which satisfy consumer needs, usually with the aim of earning profit. Its environment includes all internal and external forces that affect decision-making, performance and long-term survival. Understanding this environment helps managers plan, control and adapt to change.

1. The Nature of Business | 商业的本质
Business activity exists because people have unlimited wants but limited resources. The basic economic problem of scarcity forces individuals and societies to make choices, and businesses are created to organise production efficiently.

Businesses add value by converting inputs such as land, labour, capital and enterprise into outputs that are worth more than the cost of the inputs. This added value is a key source of profit and competitive advantage.

Businesses can be classified by sector according to the stage of production they operate in. The primary sector extracts raw materials, the secondary sector manufactures goods, and the tertiary sector provides services.
