1. Rate Equations and Rate Constants | 速率方程与速率常数
The rate of a chemical reaction is often expressed as a rate equation: rate = k[A]ᵐ[B]ⁿ. Here [A] and [B] are the concentrations of reactants, m and n are the orders of reaction with respect to A and B, and k is the rate constant. The values of m and n are not necessarily equal to the stoichiometric coefficients in the balanced equation; they must be determined experimentally.

The overall order of reaction is the sum m + n. Orders may be zero, first order, second order or, less commonly, fractional. 2. Determining Reaction Orders | 确定反应级数
The initial rates method is the most common way to find reaction orders. You measure the initial rate of reaction for several experiments in which only one reactant concentration is changed while others are kept constant. By comparing how the initial rate changes when, say, [A] doubles, you can deduce the order with respect to A.
