Shapes with the same perimeter can have different areas. For example, a rectangle that is 5 cm by 5 cm has a perimeter of 20 cm and an area of 25 cm². A rectangle that is 8 cm by 2 cm also has a perimeter of 20 cm, but its area is only 16 cm².
