In the United Kingdom, the legislative process is the formal mechanism by which proposed laws, known as Bills, are considered, amended, and enacted as Acts of Parliament. The UK Parliament is traditionally described as legally sovereign under the principle of parliamentary sovereignty. This means that Parliament can make or unmake any law, and no other body can override its legislation. The legislative process is therefore central to the UK’s uncodified constitution because it turns political promises into binding legal rules.
