Critical Path Analysis is a project management technique used to model a project as a network of activities. Each activity has a duration and a set of precedence constraints — it cannot start until certain other activities are complete. The purpose of CPA is to find the longest path through the network, called the critical path, which determines the shortest possible completion time for the project. Activities on this path have zero ‘float’ (slack), meaning any delay will directly delay the whole project.
