Year 7 Edexcel German: Quick Guide to Memorizing Vocabulary & Key Terms | Year 7 Edexcel 德语:词汇术语速记指南

📚 Year 7 Edexcel German: Quick Guide to Memorizing Vocabulary & Key Terms | Year 7 Edexcel 德语:词汇术语速记指南

Building a solid vocabulary foundation is the first step towards success in Year 7 Edexcel German. This guide will help you tackle the essential words and phrases from the syllabus through clever memory tricks, logical groupings and active learning strategies. Whether you are learning colours, numbers, family members or daily routines, you will find practical ways to make the vocabulary stick.

打下扎实的词汇基础是学好 Year 7 Edexcel 德语的第一步。本指南将通过巧妙记忆法、逻辑归类和主动学习策略,帮助你攻克教学大纲中的核心词汇和表达。无论是学习颜色、数字、家庭成员还是日常作息,你都能找到让词汇牢牢记住的实用方法。

1. Colours and Shapes | 色彩与形状

Colours in German often have short, punchy sounds that can be linked to English words or mental images. For example, rot (red) might remind you of a red robot; blau (blue) sounds like “blow”, picture blowing on a blue balloon; grün (green) looks like “grin” – imagine a green frog grinning.

德语的颜色词通常短促有力,可以联结英语单词或心理图像来记忆。例如,rot(红色)可以联想红色机器人;blau(蓝色)听起来像“blow”(吹),想象吹蓝色气球;grün(绿色)像“grin”(咧嘴笑)——想象一只绿色青蛙咧嘴笑。

Shapes can be mastered through everyday objects: der Kreis (circle) – think of a round biscuit; das Quadrat (square) – a square post‑it note; das Dreieck (triangle) literally means “three‑corner”, which makes it very logical.

形状可以通过日常物品掌握:der Kreis(圆形)——想想圆形饼干;das Quadrat(正方形)——方形便利贴;das Dreieck(三角形)的字面意思是“三个角”,非常有逻辑。

2. Numbers and Counting | 数字与计数

Numbers 1‑12 are fundamental and mostly irregular, so learn them as a rhyme: eins, zwei, drei, vier, fünf, sechs, sieben, acht, neun, zehn, elf, zwölf. Sing them to a simple tune, and they will soon stick.

数字 1 到 12 是基础且大多不规则,可以像童谣一样唱出来:eins, zwei, drei, vier, fünf, sechs, sieben, acht, neun, zehn, elf, zwölf。用简单曲调唱几遍,很快就会记住。

From 13 to 19, the pattern is straightforward: the units digit plus zehn (ten). So dreizehn (13) is literally “three‑ten”, vierzehn (14) is “four‑ten”, and so on. Watch out for sechzehn (16) and siebzehn (17) where the spelling loses an ‘s’ or ‘en’ for smoother pronunciation.

从 13 到 19,规律很简单:个位数加上 zehn(十)。所以 dreizehn(13)字面是“三十”,vierzehn(14)是“四十”,以此类推。注意 sechzehn(16)和 siebzehn(17)为发音流畅省略了字母。

The tens are also regular: zwanzig, dreißig, vierzig, fünfzig, sechzig, siebzig, achtzig, neunzig. Notice the suffix ‑zig and the slight change in dreißig (30) with a ß instead of ‘z’. Practice combining tens and units, e.g. einundzwanzig (21) – literally “one‑and‑twenty”.

整十数也有规律:zwanzig, dreißig, vierzig, fünfzig, sechzig, siebzig, achtzig, neunzig。注意后缀 ‑zig,以及 dreißig(30)中的 ß。练习组合整十和个位数,例如 einundzwanzig(21)——字面是“一和二十”。

3. Family and Friends | 家庭与朋友

Create a family tree diagram and label each person in German. der Vater (father), die Mutter (mother), der Bruder (brother), die Schwester (sister), der Onkel (uncle), die Tante (aunt). Add the words for grandparents: der Opa / der Großvater (grandfather) and die Oma / die Großmutter (grandmother).

画一张家庭树图,用德语标注每个人:der Vater(父亲)、die Mutter(母亲)、der Bruder(兄弟)、die Schwester(姐妹)、der Onkel(叔叔)、die Tante(阿姨)。再加上祖父母词汇:der Opa / der Großvater(祖父)和 die Oma / die Großmutter(祖母)。

Remember that step‑family members are formed by adding Stief‑: der Stiefvater (stepfather), die Stiefschwester (stepsister). Half‑siblings are described with Halb‑: der Halbbruder (half‑brother).

继亲家庭成员的词汇是在前面加上 Stief‑:der Stiefvater(继父)、die Stiefschwester(继姐/妹)。同父异母或同母异父的兄弟姐妹用 Halb‑:der Halbbruder(半血兄弟)。

Use possessive adjectives to build phrases: meine Schwester (my sister), dein Bruder (your brother). Start describing your own family with short sentences, which makes the vocabulary more personal and memorable.

用物主形容词造句:meine Schwester(我的姐妹)、dein Bruder(你的兄弟)。开始用简短句子描述你自己的家庭,让词汇更具个人色彩,也更容易记住。

4. School Subjects and Supplies | 学校科目与用品

School subjects can be grouped by similarity to English. die Mathematik (maths), die Biologie (biology), die Chemie (chemistry), die Physik (physics) are easy cognates. die Geschichte (history) is literally “story”, die Erdkunde (geography) is “earth‑knowledge”.

学校科目可以按与英语的相似度分组。die Mathematik(数学)、die Biologie(生物)、die Chemie(化学)、die Physik(物理)是明显的同源词。die Geschichte(历史)字面是“故事”,die Erdkunde(地理)是“地球知识”。

For stationery, pair each noun with its article and colour code it: der Kuli (pen) in blue, das Buch (book) in green, die Schere (scissors) in red. This technique uses visual memory to reinforce gender. der Bleistift (pencil), das Heft (exercise book), die Tasche (bag) – gather all real objects on your desk and say each word aloud.

文具类词汇,可以将每个名词与其冠词配对并用颜色标注:der Kuli(圆珠笔)用蓝色,das Buch(书)用绿色,die Schere(剪刀)用红色。这种技巧利用视觉记忆强化词性。还有 der Bleistift(铅笔)、das Heft(练习本)、die Tasche(书包)——把真物放在桌上,大声说出每个单词。

5. Food and Drinks | 食物与饮料

German food vocabulary is full of cultural gems. das Brot (bread) is the centre of German meals, die Butter (butter), der Käse (cheese). der Apfel (apple) and die Banane (banana) are obvious, but learn die Weintraube (grape) and die Erdbeere (strawberry, literally “earth‑berry”).

德语食物词汇充满文化魅力。das Brot(面包)是德国餐食的核心,还有 die Butter(黄油)、der Käse(奶酪)。der Apfel(苹果)和 die Banane(香蕉)很明显,但要学会 die Weintraube(葡萄)和 die Erdbeere(草莓,字面“地球莓”)。

Drinks: das Wasser (water), der Saft (juice), die Milch (milk), der Tee (tea), der Kaffee (coffee). Create a menu for a German café and practise ordering: Ich möchte einen Apfelsaft, bitte.

饮料:das Wasser(水)、der Saft(果汁)、die Milch(牛奶)、der Tee(茶)、der Kaffee(咖啡)。设计一份德语咖啡馆菜单,练习点餐:Ich möchte einen Apfelsaft, bitte.(我想要一杯苹果汁,谢谢。)

6. Daily Routines and Verbs | 日常活动与动词

Key verbs for daily routines include aufstehen (to get up), frühstücken (to have breakfast), zur Schule gehen (to go to school), lernen (to study/learn), spielen (to play), ins Bett gehen (to go to bed). Act them out physically while saying the word, which is known as TPR (Total Physical Response) and greatly improves recall.

日常活动的核心动词有 aufstehen(起床)、frühstücken(吃早餐)、zur Schule gehen(去上学)、lernen(学习)、spielen(玩)、ins Bett gehen(上床睡觉)。边说单词边做动作,这就是全身反应法(TPR),能极大提高记忆效果。

Learn separabel verbs like fernsehen (to watch TV) – sehen means to see, fern is distant. So in a sentence: Ich sehe gern fern. (I like to watch TV.) The prefix splits off and goes to the end.

学习可分动词,比如 fernsehen(看电视)—— sehen 是看,fern 是远处。在句子中:Ich sehe gern fern.(我喜欢看电视。)前缀分离并移到句末。

Time phrases help build a timetable: morgens (in the morning), nachmittags (in the afternoon), abends (in the evening), um 7 Uhr (at 7 o’clock).

时间短语能帮你搭建时间表:morgens(在早上)、nachmittags(在下午)、abends(在晚上)、um 7 Uhr(在7点)。

7. Time, Days and Months | 时间、星期与月份

The days of the week mostly end in ‑tag (day): Montag, Dienstag, Mittwoch, Donnerstag, Freitag, Samstag, Sonntag. Mittwoch means mid‑week (literally “mid‑week”). Samstag alternates with Sonnabend (mainly in northern Germany).

星期几大多以 ‑tag(天)结尾:Montag, Dienstag, Mittwoch, Donnerstag, Freitag, Samstag, Sonntag。Mittwoch 意思是周末中间(字面“周中”)。Samstag 有时也用 Sonnabend(主要在德国北部)。

Months are cognates: Januar, Februar, März, April, Mai, Juni, Juli, August, September, Oktober, November, Dezember. Practise writing dates: Heute ist Montag, der 3. Oktober.

月份几乎是同源词:Januar, Februar, März, April, Mai, Juni, Juli, August, September, Oktober, November, Dezember。练习书写日期:Heute ist Montag, der 3. Oktober.(今天是10月3日,星期一。)

Telling the time uses the 24‑hour clock often. Es ist halb acht means it is half past seven (half to eight). This takes practice: Viertel nach drei – quarter past three, Viertel vor vier – quarter to four.

德语时间常用24小时制。Es ist halb acht 意思是七点半(第八个小时过了一半)。需要练习:Viertel nach drei 是三点一刻,Viertel vor vier 是差一刻四点。

8. Adjectives and Opposites | 形容词与反义词

Learn adjectives in opposite pairs to double your vocabulary instantly. groß (big) – klein (small); lang (long) – kurz (short); schnell (fast) – langsam (slow); warm (warm) – kalt (cold); neu (new) – alt (old); leicht (easy/light) – schwer (difficult/heavy).

以反义词对的方式学习形容词,词汇量立刻翻倍。groß(大)– klein(小);lang(长)– kurz(短);schnell(快)– langsam(慢);warm(暖)– kalt(冷);neu(新)– alt(旧);leicht(简单/轻)– schwer(难/重)。

Adjectives used before a noun take endings, but at Year 7 level, you mainly use them after sein (to be): Der Hund ist braun. (The dog is brown.) Die Katze ist klein. (The cat is small.) This is a stress‑free introduction.

形容词在名词前要变格,但在 Year 7 阶段,你主要在 sein(是)之后使用它们:Der Hund ist braun.(狗是棕色的。)Die Katze ist klein.(猫是小的。)这是轻松入门的方式。

9. Places and Prepositions | 地点与方位介词

Places in town: der Park, die Schule, das Kino, der Supermarkt, die Kirche, das Schwimmbad, die Bibliothek. Use the phrase Es gibt (there is/are) to describe your town: In meiner Stadt gibt es einen Park und ein Kino.

城镇地点:der Park(公园)、die Schule(学校)、das Kino(电影院)、der Supermarkt(超市)、die Kirche(教堂)、das Schwimmbad(游泳池)、die Bibliothek(图书馆)。用 Es gibt(有)描述你的城镇:In meiner Stadt gibt es einen Park und ein Kino.(在我的城市有一个公园和一个电影院。)

Prepositions of place often trigger the dative case when describing location (where something is). Start with these: in (in), auf (on), neben (next to), vor (in front of), hinter (behind), zwischen (between). Combine with objects: Die Katze ist auf dem Tisch. (The cat is on the table.) Das Buch liegt neben dem Computer. (The book is next to the computer.)

方位介词在描述位置时通常支配第三格(与格)。先从这些开始:in(在…里面)、auf(在…上面)、neben(在…旁边)、vor(在…前面)、hinter(在…后面)、zwischen(在…之间)。和物品搭配:Die Katze ist auf dem Tisch.(猫在桌子上。)Das Buch liegt neben dem Computer.(书在电脑旁边。)

10. Weather and Nature | 天气与自然

Weather phrases are often impersonal with es: Es regnet (it’s raining), Es schneit (it’s snowing), Es ist sonnig (it’s sunny), Es ist windig (it’s windy), Es ist warm/kalt (it’s warm/cold). Link the word schneit to “snow‑night” to help remember.

天气用语常由非人称代词 es 引导:Es regnet(下雨了)、Es schneit(下雪了)、Es ist sonnig(晴天)、Es ist windig(有风)、Es ist warm/kalt(暖和/冷)。把 schneit 联想成“snow‑night”帮助记忆。

Nature words: der Baum (tree), die Blume (flower), der Fluss (river), der Wald (forest), der Berg (mountain). These appear in reading tasks. Use pictures of landscapes and label them.

自然词汇:der Baum(树)、die Blume(花)、der Fluss(河流)、der Wald(森林)、der Berg(山)。这些常出现在阅读题中。用风景图片贴标签练习。

11. Free Time and Hobbies | 业余时间与爱好

Common hobbies: Fußball spielen (play football), Musik hören (listen to music), Computer spielen (play computer games), Lesen (reading), Schwimmen (swimming), Tanzen (dancing). The verb gern (to like) is crucial: Ich spiele gern Tennis (I like playing tennis), Ich höre nicht gern Musik (I don’t like listening to music).

常见爱好:Fußball spielen(踢足球)、Musik hören(听音乐)、Computer spielen(玩电脑游戏)、Lesen(阅读)、Schwimmen(游泳)、Tanzen(跳舞)。动词 gern(喜欢) 很关键:Ich spiele gern Tennis(我喜欢打网球),Ich höre nicht gern Musik(我不喜欢听音乐)。

To say how often you do something, use adverbs: oft (often), manchmal (sometimes), nie (never), jeden Tag (every day). Build a personalised hobby chart with these frequency words.

要表达做事的频率,用副词:oft(经常)、manchmal(有时)、nie(从不)、jeden Tag(每天)。用这些频率词制作一张个人爱好表。

12. Practical Memory Strategies and Exam Tips | 实用记忆策略与考试贴士

Use digital flashcards with spaced repetition software like Anki or Quizlet. Create your own decks with German on one side and an image or English on the reverse. Review a small set every day.

使用带间隔重复功能的电子闪卡,如 Anki 或 Quizlet。自建词卡组,一面写德语,另一面放图片或英语。每天复习一小套。

Label items around your home with sticky notes: der Spiegel on the mirror, die Tür on the door. Seeing the words daily builds passive vocabulary effortlessly.

在家里用便利贴给物品贴上标签:镜子上贴 der Spiegel,门上贴 die Tür。每天看到这些词,轻松积累被动词汇。

Practise with old exam papers or sample speaking questions. For the Edexcel speaking and writing tasks, prepare short paragraphs about yourself, your family, your school and your hobbies, and learn the key structures off by heart.

用往年试卷或模拟口试题练习。针对 Edexcel 口语和写作任务,准备好关于你自己、家庭、学校和爱好的简短段落,并牢记关键句式。

Finally, test yourself regularly on noun genders by grouping vocabulary: all der words together, all die words together, all das together. Recognising patterns (e.g. words ending in ‑ung are usually feminine) gives you a huge advantage.

最后,定期自测名词词性,将词汇分组:所有 der 词放一起,所有 die 词放一起,所有 das 词放一起。识别规律(如以 ‑ung 结尾的词通常是阴性)能带给你巨大优势。
