1. Noun Genders and Definite/Indefinite Articles | 名词的性与定冠词/不定冠词

Every German noun has a gender: masculine, feminine or neuter. The article you use depends on gender, case and number. In the nominative case (subject), the definite articles are der (m.), die (f.), das (nt.), and plural die. Indefinite articles are ein (m./nt.) and eine (f.). Remember that there is no plural indefinite article — you simply use keine for negation.

每个德语名词都有语法性别:阳性、阴性或中性。你使用的冠词取决于性别、格和数。在第一格(主格)中,定冠词是 der(阳)、die(阴)、das(中),复数用 die。不定冠词是 ein(阳/中)和 eine(阴)。注意复数没有不定冠词——表达否定时用 keine。

der Mann (the man) ein Mann (a man)
die Frau (the woman) eine Frau (a woman)
das Kind (the child) ein Kind (a child)
die Leute (the people) – Leute (people)

2. Personal Pronouns in the Nominative Case | 第一格人称代词

Personal pronouns replace nouns and must agree in person and number. The nominative forms are: ich (I), du (you, informal singular), er (he), sie (she), es (it), wir (we), ihr (you, informal plural), sie (they) and Sie (you, formal). Note that Sie is always capitalised when used as the formal ‘you’.

人称代词代替名词,必须在人称和数上保持一致。主格的代词形式有:ich(我)、du(你,非正式单数)、er(他)、sie(她)、es(它)、wir(我们)、ihr(你们,非正式复数)、sie(他们)和 Sie(您/你们,正式)。注意正式称呼 Sie 始终大写。

ich → du → er/sie/es → wir → ihr → sie/Sie

3. Present Tense Regular Verb Conjugation | 现在时规则动词变位

Most German verbs follow a clear pattern in the present tense. Take the stem (infinitive minus -en or -n) and add these endings: -e, -st, -t, -en, -t, -en. The formula works for thousands of verbs such as spielen (to play) and machen (to do/make).

大多数德语动词在现在时遵循清晰的模式。取词干(不定式去掉 -en 或 -n),并加上这些词尾:-e, -st, -t, -en, -t, -en。这一公式适用于数千个动词,例如 spielen(玩)和 machen(做)。

spielen → ich spiele, du spielst, er/sie/es spielt, wir spielen, ihr spielt, sie spielen

  • ich spiele — I play / 我玩
  • du spielst — you play (singular informal) / 你玩
  • er/sie/es spielt — he/she/it plays / 他/她/它玩
  • wir spielen — we play / 我们玩
  • ihr spielt — you play (plural informal) / 你们玩
  • sie spielen — they play / 他们玩

4. Present Tense of ‘haben’ and ‘sein’ | haben 和 sein 的现在时

The verbs haben (to have) and sein (to be) are irregular and absolutely essential. Learn their forms by heart because they are also used as auxiliaries in the perfect tense. Here is the formula:

动词 haben(有)和 sein(是)是不规则动词,并且至关重要。必须背熟它们的形式,因为它们在完成时中也要用作助动词。以下是公式:

haben: ich habe, du hast, er/sie/es hat, wir haben, ihr habt, sie haben

sein: ich bin, du bist, er/sie/es ist, wir sind, ihr seid, sie sind

For example: Ich habe einen Bruder. (I have a brother.) / Er ist müde. (He is tired.)

例如:Ich habe einen Bruder.(我有一个哥哥。) / Er ist müde.(他累了。)

5. Modal Verbs: können, müssen, wollen | 情态动词:können, müssen, wollen

Modal verbs modify the meaning of the main verb and follow a special pattern. The singular forms usually change the stem vowel, and the ich and er/sie/es forms are identical (no ending). The formula for können (can), müssen (must) and wollen (want to) in the present tense is shown below. The main verb goes to the end of the clause in the infinitive.

情态动词修饰主要动词的语义,并遵循特殊的变位模式。单数形式通常变化词干元音,且 ich 和 er/sie/es 的形式相同(无词尾)。können(能够)、müssen(必须)和 wollen(想要)的现在时公式如下。主要动词以不定式形式置于句尾。

können: ich kann → du kannst → er kann → wir können → ihr könnt → sie können

müssen: ich muss → du musst → er muss → wir müssen → ihr müsst → sie müssen

wollen: ich will → du willst → er will → wir wollen → ihr wollt → sie wollen

Sentence structure: Ich kann gut schwimmen. (I can swim well.) — Notice ‘kann’ in position 2 and ‘schwimmen’ at the end.

句子结构:Ich kann gut schwimmen.(我游泳游得很好。)—— 注意 ‘kann’ 位于第二位,而 ‘schwimmen’ 在末尾。

6. Word Order: The Verb Second Rule | 语序:动词第二位规则

In German main clauses, the conjugated verb must be the second element. The first element can be the subject, a time phrase or any other adverbial. This rule is like a rigid formula; everything else arranges around it. For example: Morgen gehe ich ins Kino. (Tomorrow I go to the cinema.) — ‘gehe’ stays in the second slot even though the sentence begins with a time expression.

在德语主句中,变位动词必须是第二个句子成分。第一位可以是主语、时间状语或其他任何状语。这条规则像一条严格的公式;其余部分都围绕它来安排。例如:Morgen gehe ich ins Kino.(明天我去电影院。)—— 即使句子以时间表达开头,’gehe’ 仍然保持在第二位。

[Element 1] + [Verb 2nd] + [Subject (if not 1st)] + [Other info]

Common mistake: never place the verb in position 3 in a simple statement.

常见错误:在简单陈述句中绝对不要把动词放在第三位。

7. Question Words and Forming Questions | 疑问词与提问形式

Yes-no questions are formed by moving the conjugated verb to the first position. Information questions start with a question word, followed by the verb. The core question words are: Wer (who), Was (what), Wo (where), Wann (when), Warum (why), Wie (how) and Welcher/Welche/Welches (which). Think of the structure as a simple formula:

是非疑问句通过将变位动词移至第一位构成。特殊疑问句以疑问词开头,后接变位动词。核心疑问词有:Wer(谁)、Was(什么)、Wo(哪里)、Wann(什么时候)、Warum(为什么)、Wie(怎样)和 Welcher/Welche/Welches(哪个)。可以把结构看作一个简单的公式:

Question word + Verb (2nd idea) + Subject (if needed) + rest?

  • Kommst du mit? (Are you coming along?) / 你一起来吗?
  • Wo wohnst du? (Where do you live?) / 你住在哪里?
  • Was machst du gern? (What do you like to do?) / 你喜欢做什么?

8. Prepositions with Accusative and Dative | 支配宾格和与格的介词

Some prepositions always take a specific case. The five pure accusative prepositions are: durch (through), für (for), gegen (against), ohne (without), um (around). The pure dative prepositions include: aus (from/out of), bei (at/near), mit (with), nach (after/to), seit (since/for), von (from/of), zu (to). Memorise them as formulas — whenever you see these prepositions, the following noun must be in the correct case.

有些介词始终要求特定的格。五个纯宾格介词是:durch(穿过)、für(为了)、gegen(反对)、ohne(没有)、um(围绕)。纯与格介词包括:aus(从…出来)、bei(在…处)、mit(和…一起)、nach(朝/之后)、seit(自从)、von(来自)、zu(去/到)。把它们当作公式来记忆——只要看到这些介词,后面的名词就必须用相应的格。

Accusative: durch, für, gegen, ohne, um → den/einen (m.), die/eine (f.), das/ein (nt.)

Dative: aus, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu → dem/einem (m./nt.), der/einer (f.)

  • Ich gehe ohne meinen Bruder. (I go without my brother.) / 我没带我哥哥去。
  • Sie kommt mit ihrer Freundin. (She is coming with her friend.) / 她和她的女朋友一起来。

9. Adjective Endings (Nominative) | 形容词词尾(第一格)

Adjective endings in German depend on the article that precedes the noun. After the definite article, the adjective takes a weak ending: -e for masculine, feminine, neuter singular and plural. After the indefinite article (or possessive like mein), the endings indicate gender more strongly: -er, -e, -es. Without an article, the adjective takes the strong endings that resemble der/die/das.

德语形容词词尾取决于前面的冠词。在定冠词之后,形容词采用弱变化词尾:阳性、阴性、中性单数和复数都加 -e。在不定冠词(或物主代词如 mein)之后,词尾需要更明确地指示性别:-er, -e, -es。没有冠词时,形容词采用类似 der/die/das 的强变化词尾。

der gute Wein (the good wine) ein guter Wein (a good wine)
die schöne Stadt (the beautiful city) eine schöne Stadt (a beautiful city)
das kleine Kind (the small child) ein kleines Kind (a small child)
die alten Häuser (the old houses) meine alten Häuser (my old houses)

10. Separable Verbs | 可分动词

Many German verbs have a prefix that detaches in main clauses. The prefix moves to the end of the sentence, creating a ‘bracket’ structure. Common prefixes include auf- (up), an- (on/at), aus- (out), ein- (in), mit- (with), fern- (far/remote). The conjugation follows the base verb, but you must remember to ‘kick’ the prefix to the end.

很多德语动词带有一个在主句中会分离的前缀。该前缀移至句尾,形成“框架”结构。常见前缀有 auf-(向上)、an-(在…旁)、aus-(出去)、ein-(进来)、mit-(一起)、fern-(遥远)等。变位仍依照基础动词,但你必须记住将前缀“踢”到句尾。

einkaufen → Ich kaufe im Supermarkt ein. (I shop at the supermarket.)

fernsehen → Er sieht heute Abend fern. (He watches TV this evening.)

With modal verbs, the separable verb stays together in the infinitive at the end: Ich möchte einkaufen. (I would like to shop.) / 我想购物。

11. Negation with ‘nicht’ and ‘kein’ | 用 nicht 和 kein 否定

To negate a whole sentence or a specific element, you use nicht. The position of ‘nicht’ follows a logic: it usually comes after the conjugated verb and as far to the end as possible, often before the prepositional phrase or the separable prefix. For negating indefinite nouns (a/an), we use kein, which takes the same endings as ‘ein’. This transforms ‘a brother’ into ‘no brother’: kein Bruder.

要否定整个句子或某一成分,用 nicht。’nicht’ 的位置遵循逻辑:通常位于变位动词之后,并尽可能靠近句尾,常出现在介词短语或可分前缀之前。当否定带有不定冠词的名词时,使用 kein,其词尾变化与 ‘ein’ 一致。这样“一个兄弟”就变成“没有兄弟”:kein Bruder。

nicht: Ich spiele nicht Fußball. (I do not play football.) / 我不踢足球。

kein: Ich habe kein Geld. (I have no money.) / 我没有钱。

Remember: ‘nicht’ negates the verb or an adjective; ‘kein’ negates the noun.

请记住:’nicht’ 否定动词或形容词;’kein’ 否定名词。

12. Introduction to the Perfekt Tense | 完成时入门

The Perfekt (conversational past) is formed with an auxiliary haben or sein and the past participle of the main verb. Most verbs use haben. Verbs of motion (gehen, fahren) or change of state use sein. The formula for regular past participles is: ge- + verb stem + -t (spielen → gespielt). For many strong verbs, the participle ends in -en and often has a vowel change. The participle goes to the end of the clause.

完成时(口语过去时)由助动词 haben 或 sein 加上主要动词的过去分词构成。大多数动词用 haben。表示移动(gehen, fahren)或状态变化的动词用 sein。规则动词的过去分词公式为:ge- + 动词词干 + -t(spielen → gespielt)。很多强变化动词的分词以 -en 结尾,且常常有元音变化。分词置于句尾。

Ich habe Fußball gespielt. (I played football.) / 我踢了足球。

Er ist nach Hause gegangen. (He went home.) / 他回家了。

A quick reference for the participle construction: machen → gemacht, lernen → gelernt, schwimmen → geschwommen, sehen → gesehen.

快速查阅分词构成:machen → gemacht, lernen → gelernt, schwimmen → geschwommen, sehen → gesehen。
