📚 Year 9 CCEA Chinese: Formula & Theorem Quick Reference | CCEA 九年级中文公式定理速查手册

Mastering Chinese in CCEA Year 9 often feels like learning a new set of rules – almost like mathematical formulas. By recognising these language ‘formulas’ and ‘theorems’, you can build correct sentences with confidence. This quick reference handbook collects the most important sentence structures, grammar patterns and word‑use rules you will meet in your CCEA Chinese lessons, each presented as a clear formula so you can memorise and apply them quickly.

在 CCEA 九年级学习中文常常感觉像在学习一套新的规则——就像数学公式一样。认识了这些语言“公式”和“定理”,你就能自信地造出正确的句子。这本速查手册汇集了你在 CCEA 中文课上会遇到的最重要的句式、语法规则和词语用法,每一条都以清晰的公式呈现,方便你快速记忆和运用。

1. Basic Word Order Formula | 基本词序公式

The backbone of every Chinese sentence is the Subject‑Verb‑Object (SVO) word order. Unlike some other languages, Chinese does not change the verb form to indicate tense, so word order is especially important. You can think of it as Formula 1: S + V + O.

每个中文句子的主干都是“主语‑动词‑宾语”的语序。和其他语言不同,中文的动词形式不随时态变化,因此语序格外重要。你可以把它看作公式一:主语 + 动词 + 宾语。

Formula English Example Chinese Example
S + V + O I read books. 我 看 书。
S + Adv + V + O He also plays football. 他 也 踢 足球。

Time words and adverbs usually come before the verb. If you want to say where or when something happens, place that information right after the subject and before the verb. This fixed order will help you avoid many common mistakes.

时间词和副词通常放在动词之前。如果要说明事情发生在哪里或什么时候,就把这信息放在主语之后、动词之前。这个固定的顺序帮助你避免许多常见错误。

2. The ‘Shì’ Sentence Pattern | “是”字句公式

The verb shì (是) works like an equals sign ‘=’ in mathematics. It connects two noun phrases that refer to the same person or thing. The core formula is A shì B, where A and B are both nouns or pronouns.

动词“是”就像数学里的等号“=”。它连接两个指代同一人或事物的名词短语。核心公式是“A 是 B”,A 和 B 都是名词或代词。

Example: Tā shì wǒ de lǎoshī. (He is my teacher.) In this structure, ‘shì’ does not change for person or number. To make a negative sentence, simply put bù (不) before ‘shì’: A bù shì B.

例句:他 是 我 的 老师。在这个结构里,“是”不随人称或单复数变化。要构成否定句,只需在“是”前面加上“不”:A 不 是 B。

Memorise this formula and you will be able to introduce yourself, describe relationships and identify objects without hesitation.

记牢这个公式,你就能轻松地介绍自己、描述关系和指明物体。

3. The ‘Yǒu’ Sentence Pattern | “有”字句公式

The verb yǒu (有) means ‘to have’ or ‘there is/are’. Two related formulas are extremely useful. The first is Person + yǒu + Object to show possession. The second is Place + yǒu + Object to describe existence in a location.

动词“有”表示“拥有”或“存在”。两个相关的公式非常实用。第一个是“人 + 有 + 物体”,表示领有。第二个是“地点 + 有 + 物体”,描述某处存在某物。

Wǒ yǒu yī běn shū. (I have a book.) 我 有 一 本 书。
Zhuōzi shàng yǒu yī zhī bǐ. (There is a pen on the desk.) 桌子 上 有 一 支 笔。

To negate ‘yǒu’, always use méi (没) instead of ‘bù’. The pattern becomes Méi yǒu + Object. Practise switching between the possession and existential formulas to talk about your belongings and your surroundings.

否定“有”时,一定要用“没”而不能用“不”,句式变为“没有 + 物体”。练习在领有句和存在句之间切换,来描述你的物品和周围环境。

4. Using Measure Words | 量词使用规则

Whenever a number or a demonstrative (this, that) is used with a noun, a measure word must sit between them. The general formula is Number/This/That + Measure Word + Noun. Each noun category usually has a specific measure word.

数字或指示代词(这、那)和名词搭配时,中间必须插入量词。总的公式是“数字/这/那 + 量词 + 名词”。每类名词通常有特定的量词。

The most common all‑purpose measure word is gè (个). For people you can always use ‘gè’, for flat objects zhāng (张) is typical, and for long thin objects tiáo (条) is the right choice. Treat the formula as a compulsory connector – omitting the measure word is one of the most frequent errors for Year 9 learners.

最常见的通用量词是“个”。指人时总可以用“个”,扁平的物体常用“张”,细长的物体则用“条”。把这个公式当作一个必须的连接件——漏掉量词是九年级学生最容易犯的错误之一。

Example: yī zhāng zhuōzi (one table), zhè tiáo lù (this road). Master the formula first with ‘gè’, then gradually learn the specific measure words as you widen your vocabulary.

例句:一 张 桌子,这 条 路。先用“个”掌握公式,然后在扩展词汇的同时逐步学习专用量词。

5. Expressing Possession with ‘de’ | “的”字短语公式

The particle de (的) is used to show possession or to link a modifier to a noun. Think of it as the apostrophe‑s (‘s) or ‘of’ in English, but always following a strict order: Possessor + de + Thing possessed.

助词“的”用来表示所属关系,或者把修饰语和名词连接起来。可以把它类比为英文里的 “’s” 或 “of”,但它总是遵循固定顺序:“拥有者 + 的 + 被拥有的事物”。

In addition, when a personal pronoun is followed by a close personal relationship (like family members), ‘de’ can often be omitted. For instance, ‘wǒ māma’ (my mum) is as correct as ‘wǒ de māma’. However, for school items, pets and other objects, keeping ‘de’ is safer.

此外,当人称代词后跟的是密切的个人关系(如家人)时,“的”可以常常省略。比如“我妈妈”和“我的妈妈”一样正确。不过对于学习用品、宠物和其它事物,还是保留“的”更稳妥。

This formula opens the door to longer noun phrases: wǒ de hǎo péngyǒu de shū (my good friend’s book). Practise building layers of possession using ‘de’ as a modular connector.

这个公式为更长的名词短语打开了大门:“我的好朋友的书”。可以把“的”当作一个模块化的连接件,练习层层叠加的所属关系。

6. Forming Questions with ‘ma’ and ‘ne’ | 疑问句公式 (吗, 呢)

Turning a statement into a question in Chinese can be as simple as adding a particle at the end. The most straightforward formula is Statement + ma (吗)? This creates a yes‑no question without changing the word order.

在中文里,把陈述句变成疑问句有时候简单到只需在句尾加个语气词。最直接的公式是“陈述句 + 吗?”,它把句子变成了一个是非问句,不需要改变语序。

Example: Nǐ shì xuéshēng. (You are a student.) → Nǐ shì xuéshēng ma? (Are you a student?) Another useful particle is ne (呢), which is used for follow‑up questions after a previous topic or to ask ‘What about…?’ The formula is Topic + ne?

例句:你是学生。→ 你是学生吗?另一个好用的语气词是“呢”,用来接着上一个话题追问,或者表示“……怎么样?”。公式是“话题 + 呢?”

Never use ‘ma’ and ‘ne’ together. Also remember that question‑word questions (with shénme, nǎr, shéi) do not take ‘ma’. Knowing when to apply which formula is a key Year 9 skill.

不要把“吗”和“呢”混在一起用。同时要记住,用疑问词(什么、哪儿、谁)的问句不加“吗”。知道在什么情况下用哪个公式是九年级的一项关键技能。

7. Expressing Actions in Progress (‘zài’ and ‘zhe’) | 进行时态公式 (在/着)

To describe an action that is happening right now, use the adverb zài (在) placed directly before the verb. The formula is S + zài + V (+ O). This is the nearest equivalent to the present continuous tense in English.

要描述正在发生的动作,把副词“在”直接放在动词前面。公式是“主语 + 在 + 动词(+ 宾语)”。这和英语的现在进行时最为接近。

Example: Tā zài chī fàn. (He is eating.) Another pattern, V + zhe (着), often focuses on the continuous state resulting from an action, especially when describing someone’s posture or a background scene. Compare ‘Tā zài kàn shū’ (He is reading a book) with ‘Tā kànzhe shū’ (He is reading a book, with the book open in front of him).

例句:他在吃饭。另一个句式“动词 + 着”通常侧重于动作发生后留下的持续状态,尤其形容姿态或背景场景时。比较“他在看书”和“他看着书”(手里捧着书在读)。

These two ‘continuous’ formulas are not interchangeable; your CCEA tasks will expect you to choose the correct one based on context.

这两个“进行”公式不能互换;你的 CCEA 作业和测验会要求你根据语境选择正确的那个。

8. The Completed Action ‘le’ | 完成时态公式 (了)

The particle le (了) is placed after a verb to indicate that an action has been completed. The basic formula is S + V + le (+ O). Think of it as a marker that an event has already happened, but not necessarily in the distant past.

助词“了”用在动词后面,表示动作已经完成。基本公式是“主语 + 动词 + 了(+ 宾语)”。可以把它看作一个标记,表示事件已经发生,但不一定是遥远的过去。

Example: Wǒ mǎi le yī běn shū. (I bought a book / I have bought a book.) If the object has a quantity or a modifier, ‘le’ remains directly after the verb. When negating a completed action, however, you must remove ‘le’ and use méi (没) before the verb: S + méi + V (+ O).

例句:我买了一本书。如果宾语带有数量或修饰语,“了”仍然紧跟在动词后面。但要否定一个完成的动作,就必须去掉“了”,并在动词前用“没”:“主语 + 没 + 动词(+ 宾语)”。

A common pitfall is overusing ‘le’ to mean past tense in every sentence. Chinese does not have a past tense; ‘le’ is only used when the completion of the action is relevant. Apply this formula selectively, just as your Year 9 textbooks demonstrate.

一个常见的误区是把“了”当作过去时,在每个句子里滥用。中文没有过去时;“了”只在动作的完成与当前有关时才使用。要像你九年级课本中展示的那样,有选择地应用这个公式。

9. Expressing Future with ‘yào’ and ‘huì’ | 将来时态公式 (要/会)

Chinese uses modal verbs rather than a future tense to talk about things that will happen. Two key formulas are S + yào + V (+ O) for something that is going to happen (often a plan or an imminent action) and S + huì + V (+ O) for general future events or acquired skills.

中文用能愿动词而不是将来时来谈论将要发生的事。两个关键公式是“主语 + 要 + 动词(+ 宾语)”,表示将要做某事(常常是计划或即将发生的动作);以及“主语 + 会 + 动词(+ 宾语)”,用于一般将来事件或习得的技能。

Example with ‘yào’: Wǒ yào qù Zhōngguó. (I am going to China / I want to go to China.) Example with ‘huì’: Míngtiān huì xià yǔ. (It will rain tomorrow.) Notice that time words like ‘míngtiān’ often appear with ‘huì’ to emphasise a prediction.

“要”的例句:我要去中国。“会”的例句:明天会下雨。注意,时间词如“明天”常常和“会”一起出现,以强调一种预测。

Sometimes the two are interchangeable, but in formal CCEA role‑plays and writing tasks, use ‘yào’ for intentions and ‘huì’ for likelihoods or learned abilities. Memorise the formulas side by side to avoid mixing them up.

有时候两个词可以互换,但在正式的 CCEA 角色扮演和写作任务中,用意念的“要”表达打算,用“会”表达可能性或学到的能力。把这两个公式并列着记住,以免混淆。

10. Making Comparisons (‘bǐ’ sentence) | 比较句公式 (比)

To compare two things in Chinese, the preposition bǐ (比) triggers a fixed structure: A + bǐ + B + Adjective. This is the fundamental formula for saying ‘A is more … than B’. No comparative ending is added to the adjective; Chinese keeps the adjective in its base form.

在中文里比较两个事物,介词“比”引进一个固定结构:“A + 比 + B + 形容词”。这是表达“A 比 B 更……”的根本公式。形容词后面不添加任何比较级词缀;中文保持形容词的原形。

Example: Zhège píngguǒ bǐ nàge píngguǒ dà. (This apple is bigger than that one.) To make the comparison stronger, you can add gèng (更) before the adjective. To negate a comparison, use méiyǒu (没有) instead of ‘bǐ’: A + méiyǒu + B + Adjective.

例句:这个苹果比那个苹果大。要加重比较的程度,可以在形容词前加上“更”。要否定比较句,用“没有”代替“比”:“A + 没有 + B + 形容词”。

This formula is tested frequently in Year 9 reading and writing papers, so practise both affirmative and negative comparisons with a range of adjectives such as gāo, yuǎn, piányi and hǎochī.

这个公式在九年级的阅读和写作考卷里经常出现,因此要用各种形容词(如高、远、便宜、好吃)练习肯定和否定形式的比较句。

11. Modal Verbs: Can, Want, Must | 能愿动词公式 (能, 想, 要, 可以)

Modal verbs in Chinese always appear before the main verb and follow this clear formula: S + Modal Verb + V (+ O). The most essential modals for Year 9 are néng (能) for ability or possibility, kěyǐ (可以) for permission, xiǎng (想) for wish, and yào (要) for want or necessity.

中文能愿动词总是出现在主动词之前,遵循这个清晰的公式:“主语 + 能愿动词 + 动词(+ 宾语)”。九年级最核心的能愿动词是:表示能力或可能性的“能”,表示许可的“可以”,表示愿望的“想”,以及表示想要或必要的“要”。

Wǒ néng shuō Hànyǔ. (I can speak Chinese.) 我 能 说 汉语。
Nǐ kěyǐ jìnlai. (You may come in.) 你 可以 进来。
Tā xiǎng chī miàntiáo. (She wants to eat noodles.) 她 想 吃 面条。
Wǒ yào hē shuǐ. (I need to drink water.) 我 要 喝 水。

The word order never changes, and you cannot put two modal verbs together. If you need to negate, place bù directly before the modal verb: S + bù + Modal + V. This formula gives you enormous expressive power with very few words.

语序从不改变,也不能把两个能愿动词叠用。如果要否定,直接把“不”放在能愿动词前面:“主语 + 不 + 能愿动词 + 动词”。用很少的词,这个公式就能给你巨大的表达能力。

12. Connecting Ideas with ‘hé’, ‘yě’, ‘hái’ | 连词与副词公式 (和, 也, 还)

Connecting words and clauses correctly makes your Chinese more fluent. The conjunction hé (和) links nouns and noun phrases but cannot join sentences. The formula is A hé B for nouns only: ‘māma hé bàba’ (mum and dad).

正确地连接词语和分句能让你的中文更流利。连词“和”用来连接名词和名词短语,但不能连接句子。公式是“A 和 B”,仅用于名词,如“妈妈和爸爸”。

To link clauses with ‘and’ or ‘also’, the adverb yě (也) is placed before the verb: S + yě + V + O. For adding extra information, like ‘in addition’ or ‘still’, hái (还) follows the same position: S + hái + V + O. Compare ‘Wǒ yě xǐhuān kàn diànyǐng’ (I also like watching films) with ‘Wǒ hái yǒu yī wèi lǎoshī’ (I still have one more teacher / I have another teacher).

要连接分句,表示“也”,副词“也”要放在动词前面:“主语 + 也 + 动词 + 宾语”。要补充额外信息,表示“还”或“另外”,“还”的位置相同:“主语 + 还 + 动词 + 宾语”。对比“我也喜欢看电影”和“我还有一位老师”。

These three little words appear in almost every CCEA dialogue. Remember: ‘hé’ for nouns, ‘yě’ for ‘also’ and ‘hái’ for ‘in addition’. Use the formulas to avoid the common mistake of using ‘hé’ to join two whole sentences.

这三个小词出现在几乎每一段 CCEA 对话中。记住:名词用“和”,“也”表示 also,“还”表示 in addition。用这些公式来避免用“和”连接两个完整句子的常见错误。
