Current – the rate of flow of electric charge. I = Q / t, measured in amperes (A). Direction is from positive to negative.

Electromagnet – a coil of wire (solenoid) with an iron core that becomes magnetic when current flows. Strength increases with more turns, higher current, or iron core.

Motor effect – a current-carrying wire in a magnetic field experiences a force. Direction given by Fleming’s left‑hand rule.
