The winter break offers Year 12 students a golden opportunity to consolidate their Spanish language skills, deepen cultural understanding, and address any weaknesses before the spring term.

1. Understanding the Edexcel Year 12 Spanish Landscape | 了解 Edexcel Year 12 西班牙语概况

The Edexcel AS Spanish course (which forms the foundation of the A level) is centred on two broad themes: Theme 1, ‘La evolución de la sociedad española’, and Theme 2, ‘La cultura política y artística en el mundo hispanohablante’. Students also study one literary work or film for Paper 2, and they must prepare for a speaking exam that includes a stimulus card discussion and a research-based presentation.

The AS exams typically consist of Paper 1 (Listening, Reading and Translation into English), Paper 2 (Written response to works and Translation into Spanish) and Paper 3 (Speaking). Knowing the weightings and question types helps you plan revision priorities.
