1. Mastering Noun Genders (le/la) | 掌握名词阴阳性

In French, every noun is either masculine or feminine. This affects the choice of articles and adjective endings. A powerful trick is to learn each noun together with its definite article, for example ‘le livre’ (the book) and ‘la table’ (the table). That way the gender becomes a natural part of the word itself.

法语中,每个名词都有阴阳性,这直接决定了冠词和形容词词尾的选择。一个非常管用的技巧是把名词和定冠词一起记忆,例如 ‘le livre’(书)和 ‘la table’(桌子)。这样阴阳性就变成了单词本身不可分割的一部分。

Certain word endings can give you a reliable clue. The endings below are usually feminine, and remembering them can save you a lot of guesswork.

特定词尾能给出非常可靠的线索。下面这些词尾绝大多数是阴性,记住它们可以帮你省去大量猜测的时间。

  • -tion: la nation, l’attention
  • -sion: la télévision, la décision
  • -té: la liberté, la beauté
  • -ette: la cigarette, la baguette
  • -ance / -ence: la chance, la science
  • -euse: la danseuse, la serveuse

常用阴性词尾:-tion (nation)、-sion (télévision)、-té (liberté)、-ette (baguette)、-ance/-ence (chance, science)、-euse (danseuse)。

Common masculine endings include -age (le fromage), -ment (le gouvernement), -eau (le bateau), -isme (le tourisme), and -oir (le miroir). Recognising these patterns turns gender identification into a quick, logical task rather than random memorisation.

常见的阳性词尾包括 -age (fromage)、-ment (gouvernement)、-eau (bateau)、-isme (tourisme) 和 -oir (miroir)。熟悉这些规律后,判断阴阳性就变成了一种快速逻辑推导,而不是完全依赖死记硬背。

2. Plurals of Nouns – Quick Rules | 名词复数速记

The general rule for forming plurals is to add -s to the noun. However, there are several common exceptions that appear regularly in IGCSE reading and writing tasks.

名词构成复数的一般规则是加 -s,但有几个常见的例外在 IGCSE 读写题中反复出现,需要格外注意。

Nouns ending in -s, -x or -z stay unchanged in the plural: un pays → des pays, un nez → des nez, un choix → des choix. It’s helpful to think of them as already ‘full’ so they don’t need an extra -s.

以 -s、-x 或 -z 结尾的名词复数不变:un pays → des pays,un nez → des nez,un choix → des choix。可以把它们想象成已经“满员”,不需要再加 -s。

Nouns ending in -eau or -au add -x: un château → des châteaux, un drapeau → des drapeaux. Similarly, many nouns ending in -al change to -aux: un animal → des animaux, un journal → des journaux. Memorise these groups as mini families to speed up recall.

以 -eau 或 -au 结尾的名词加 -x:un château → des châteaux,un drapeau → des drapeaux。很多以 -al 结尾的名词变为 -aux:un animal → des animaux,un journal → des journaux。把这些变化当作“小家族”来记忆,能加快提取速度。

3. Articles: Definite, Indefinite and Partitive | 冠词:定冠、不定冠与部分冠词

French articles must agree with the gender and number of the noun. The definite articles are le (m.), la (f.), l’ (before vowel or mute h), and les (pl.). The indefinite articles are un (m.), une (f.), des (pl.). Being able to switch between them quickly is essential for accurate speaking and writing.

法语冠词必须与名词的性数配合。定冠词有 le、la、l’(元音或哑音 h 前)和 les。不定冠词有 un、une、des。能够快速切换冠词是准确表达的基础。

The partitive articles are used with uncountable nouns or when referring to part of something. They are du (m.), de la (f.), de l’ (before vowel/h), and des (pl.). For example, ‘Je mange du pain’ (I eat some bread). A helpful memory link: imagine using ‘some’ in English whenever you see the partitive.

部分冠词用于不可数名词或表达“一部分”的概念。形式有 du、de la、de l’(元音/哑音前)和 des。例如 ‘Je mange du pain’(我吃一些面包)。可以联想英语中的 ‘some’,见到部分冠词就想到“一些”。

In negative sentences, du, de la, de l’, des usually change to de or d’: ‘Je n’ai pas de pain’. This small change is frequently tested, so practice it together with common food and object vocabulary.

在否定句中,du、de la、de l’、des 通常变为 de 或 d’:’Je n’ai pas de pain’。这个微小的变化经常在考试中被涉及,最好结合常见的食物和物品词汇反复练习。

4. Adjective Agreement and Position | 形容词的性数配合与位置

French adjectives must agree in gender and number with the noun they describe. Most adjectives add -e for the feminine and -s for the plural: un garçon intelligent → une fille intelligente → des garçons intelligents. When an adjective already ends in -e, the feminine form stays the same: un livre rouge → une voiture rouge.

法语形容词必须与所修饰的名词保持性数一致。大部分形容词阴性加 -e,复数加 -s:un garçon intelligent → une fille intelligente → des garçons intelligents。如果形容词本身以 -e 结尾,阴性形式不变:un livre rouge → une voiture rouge。

Irregular adjectives are common, such as beau/bel/belle, vieux/vieil/vieille, nouveau/nouvel/nouvelle. Write them out on a bookmark or sticky note and review them daily until the patterns feel automatic.

不规则形容词很常见,例如 beau/bel/belle,vieux/vieil/vieille,nouveau/nouvel/nouvelle。把它们写在书签或便利贴上,每天复习,直到形成条件反射。

The general rule for adjective position is that the adjective comes after the noun: une robe bleue. However, adjectives describing Beauty, Age, Goodness and Size (the BAGS rule) usually go before the noun: une belle robe, un vieux livre, une bonne idée, une grande maison. Learning the BAGS set will help you place adjectives correctly in most cases.

形容词位置的一般规则是放在名词后面:une robe bleue。不过,描述美丽、年龄、好坏和大小的形容词通常放在名词前面(BAGS 规则):une belle robe,un vieux livre,une bonne idée,une grande maison。记住 BAGS 这组词能帮你应对大部分形容词的词序问题。

5. Verb Groups and Infinitive Recognition | 动词类别与不定式辨识

French verbs are divided into three main groups based on their infinitive endings: -er verbs (parler, aimer), -ir verbs (finir, choisir), and -re verbs (vendre, attendre). The -er group is the largest and most regular, so mastering these patterns first gives you a strong base.

法语动词按不定式词尾分为三大类:-er 动词(parler, aimer)、-ir 动词(finir, choisir)和 -re 动词(vendre, attendre)。-er 动词数量最多、变化最规则,先掌握这组变位会为后续学习打下坚实基础。

Irregular verbs such as être, avoir, aller and faire do not belong to these groups and must be memorised individually. Creating short sentences with these verbs every day helps embed them in your long-term memory.

像 être、avoir、aller 和 faire 这样不规则的动词不属于以上组别,需要单独记忆。每天用它们造几个短句,能帮助它们进入长期记忆。

When you encounter an unfamiliar verb during reading, look at the infinitive ending to predict how it might conjugate. This skill allows you to make an educated guess even if you haven’t memorised the exact form.

阅读时遇到陌生动词,可以先看它的不定式词尾,预测其变位规则。这种技能让你即使在没记清具体形式时也能做出有根据的推测。

6. Key Present Tense Conjugations | 关键现在时变位

The present tense is the foundation of all spoken and written communication at IGCSE level. For regular -er verbs, remove -er and add -e, -es, -e, -ons, -ez, -ent. For -ir verbs like finir, the endings are -is, -is, -it, -issons, -issez, -issent. For most -re verbs, use -s, -s, -, -ons, -ez, -ent (e.g. je vends, nous vendons).

现在时是 IGCSE 层级所有口语和书面交流的基础。规则 -er 动词去掉 -er 后加 -e, -es, -e, -ons, -ez, -ent。以 finir 为代表的 -ir 动词词尾是 -is, -is, -it, -issons, -issez, -issent。大多数 -re 动词用 -s, -s, -, -ons, -ez, -ent(如 je vends, nous vendons)。

High-frequency irregular verbs must be automatic. Focus on être (je suis, tu es, il est, nous sommes, vous êtes, ils sont), avoir (j’ai, tu as, il a, nous avons, vous avez, ils ont), aller (je vais, tu vas, il va, nous allons, vous allez, ils vont) and faire (je fais, tu fais, il fait, nous faisons, vous faites, ils font).

高频不规则动词必须达到自动化水平。重点掌握 être、avoir、aller 和 faire 的现在时变位。它们是构成复合时态和日常对话的核心。

A useful revision technique is to recite the conjugations aloud in a rhythm, almost like a chant, to lock in the patterns. This also improves your pronunciation for the speaking assessment.

一个实用的复习方法是像念顺口溜一样有节奏地大声背诵变位,让规律固化成直觉,同时也能提升口语考试中的发音准确性。

7. Past Tenses: Passé Composé vs Imparfait | 过去时:复合过去时与未完成过去时

The passé composé is used for completed actions, specific events, or actions that act as turning points in a story. It is formed with the present tense of avoir or être + the past participle. The past participle usually ends in -é for -er verbs, -i for -ir verbs, and -u for -re verbs.

复合过去时用于已完成的行为、具体的事件或故事中的转折点。其结构是 avoir 或 être 的现在时 + 过去分词。过去分词词尾通常是 -er 动词变 -é,-ir 动词变 -i,-re 动词变 -u。

The être auxiliary is used with a specific set of verbs, often remembered by ‘Dr & Mrs Vandertramp’ (devenir, revenir, monter, rester, sortir, venir, aller, naître, descendre, entrer, rentrer, tomber, retourner, arriver, mourir, partir). With être, the past participle must agree with the subject: elle est allée, ils sont partis.

être 作助动词的特定动词常通过 ‘Dr & Mrs Vandertramp’ 口诀记忆(如 devenir, monter, aller, sortir 等)。此时过去分词需要与主语性数配合:elle est allée,ils sont partis。

The imparfait describes ongoing, habitual or background situations in the past. It is formed by taking the ‘nous’ form of the present tense, dropping -ons and adding -ais, -ais, -ait, -ions, -iez, -aient. For example, nous parlons → je parlais. Think of it as the ‘was/were …ing’ or ‘used to’ form.

未完成过去时描述过去持续进行的、习惯性的或背景状态。其构成是取现在时 nous 的变位,去掉 -ons,再加上 -ais, -ais, -ait, -ions, -iez, -aient。可以把它理解为英语的 ‘was doing’ 或 ‘used to’。

When telling a story, use the imparfait for the scene-setting and the passé composé for the main events. Practise alternating these two tenses in short narratives to build fluency.

讲述故事时,用未完成过去时描写背景,用复合过去时推进主要情节。在短篇叙述中交替使用这两种过去时,可以有效提升流畅度。

8. Future and Conditional – Patterns to Remember | 未来时与条件式速记规律

The simple future (futur simple) is formed by taking the infinitive of the verb and adding the endings -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont. For -re verbs, drop the final -e first. Être, avoir, aller and faire have irregular stems: ser-, aur-, ir-, fer-. Remember the endings by linking -ai to the ‘j’ sound of ‘je’ – ‘je parlerai’.

简单将来时由动词不定式加上词尾 -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont 构成,-re 动词需先去掉末尾的 -e。être、avoir、aller 和 faire 的词干不规则,分别是 ser-、aur-、ir-、fer-。可以把 -ai 和 ‘je’ 联想在一起,帮助记住 ‘je parlerai’。

The conditional is used to express hypothetical situations or polite requests. It uses the same stems as the futur simple but with the imparfait endings: -ais, -ais, -ait, -ions, -iez, -aient. The easy visual tip: the conditional endings look just like the imparfait endings, so if you know the imparfait, you already know half of the conditional.

条件式用于表达假设情况或礼貌请求。它的词干与简单将来时相同,但词尾使用未完成过去时的词尾。直观记忆技巧:条件式的词尾和未完成过去时一模一样,掌握未完成过去时就等于掌握了条件式的一半。

Make quick flashcards with ‘si’ sentences: ‘Si j’avais le temps, je voyagerais’ (If I had time, I would travel). This type of sentence is very common in the IGCSE writing paper.

可以制作 ‘si’ 句型的卡片,如 ‘Si j’avais le temps, je voyagerais’。这类句型在 IGCSE 写作部分非常常见,熟练掌握可以显著提升成绩。

9. Pronouns in a Nutshell | 代词速记

Subject pronouns (je, tu, il, elle, nous, vous, ils, elles) are the first building block. Direct object pronouns replace the noun directly receiving the action: me, te, le, la, nous, vous, les. Indirect object pronouns replace ‘to/for whom’ something is done: me, te, lui, nous, vous, leur.

主语代词是基础中的基础。直接宾语代词替代动作的直接承受者:me, te, le, la, nous, vous, les。间接宾语代词替代动作的接受者:me, te, lui, nous, vous, leur。

Word order is crucial: pronouns usually go before the verb, except in positive commands where they follow and are joined by a hyphen. Try the rhyme ‘me, te, se, nous, vous before the verb’ to keep the order straight.

语序至关重要:代词通常放在动词前面,只有在肯定命令式中才后附并用连字符连接。可以用顺口溜 ‘me, te, se, nous, vous 在动词前’ 来记住语序。

Emphatic pronouns (moi, toi, lui, elle, nous, vous, eux, elles) are used after prepositions and for emphasis: ‘C’est moi!’ (It’s me!). They also appear in comparisons: ‘Il est plus grand que moi’.

强调代词(moi, toi, lui, elle, nous, vous, eux, elles)用在介词后或表示强调:’C’est moi!’。它们也出现在比较句中:’Il est plus grand que moi’。

10. Negative Structures Made Simple | 否定结构简化记忆

The standard negative structure is ‘ne … pas’ wrapped around the conjugated verb: ‘Je ne mange pas’. In compound tenses like the passé composé, ‘ne … pas’ goes around the auxiliary verb: ‘Je n’ai pas mangé’.

标准否定结构 ‘ne … pas’ 包裹变位动词:’Je ne mange pas’。在复合时态中包裹助动词:’Je n’ai pas mangé’。

Common negative expressions follow the same pattern: ne … jamais (never), ne … plus (no longer), ne … rien (nothing), ne … personne (nobody), ne … que (only). Treat the two parts of the negative as ‘sandwich bread’ that surrounds the verb: this visual image helps avoid forgetting the ‘ne’.

常见否定表达遵循相同包裹方式:ne … jamais(从不)、ne … plus(不再)、ne … rien(没有什么)、ne … personne(没有人)、ne … que(仅仅)。把否定结构的两部分想象成面包片,将动词夹在中间,这个画面能有效防止漏掉 ‘ne’。

In informal spoken French, the ‘ne’ is often dropped, but for IGCSE assessments you must use the full written form. Practise writing out complete negatives to develop a reliable habit for the exam.

法语口语中常省略 ‘ne’,但在 IGCSE 考试中必须写出完整的否定形式。反复练习写出完整的否定句,可以形成稳定的考试习惯。

11. Question Words and Interrogative Structures | 疑问词与疑问句结构

Essential question words to memorise: qui (who), que / quoi (what), quand (when), où (where), comment (how), pourquoi (why), combien (how much/many). Link each one to a physical gesture or a short phrase to make them stick.

需要记住的核心疑问词:qui(谁)、que / quoi(什么)、quand(何时)、où(何地)、comment(如何)、pourquoi(为什么)、combien(多少)。给每个词搭配一个手势或短句,可以加强记忆。

There are three main ways to form questions. The simplest is rising intonation: ‘Tu viens?’ This is acceptable in spoken French but less formal. The ‘est-ce que’ structure is formal yet straightforward: ‘Est-ce que tu viens?’ The inversion method is the most formal: ‘Viens-tu?’ Practise all three, but focus on est-ce que for IGCSE written work where clarity is valued.

法语有三种主要的提问方式。最简单的是用升调:’Tu viens?’,口语中可使用但不够正式。’est-ce que’ 结构正式且直接:’Est-ce que tu viens?’。主谓倒置最为正式:’Viens-tu?’。请三种都练习,但在 IGCSE 书面表达中优先使用 est-ce que,因为它既清晰又正式。

Remember that in inversion with ‘il/elle/on’, a -t- is inserted if the verb ends in a vowel: ‘Parle-t-il français?’ This small detail is a classic CCEA mark scheme point.

注意主语为 il/elle/on 的倒装句中,如果动词以元音结尾,需要插入 -t-:’Parle-t-il français?’。这个细节是 CCEA 评分标准中经常出现的考点。

12. Prepositions and Their Uses | 介词及其用法

Prepositions are short but powerful words that show relationships of place, time and direction. Key prepositions: à (to, at), de (of, from), en (in, by), pour (for), avec (with), sans (without), chez (at the house of). Creating mind maps with spatial images helps fix their meanings.

介词虽短却非常关键,用来表示地点、时间与方向关系。核心介词有:à、de、en、pour、avec、sans、chez。用带有空间图像的心智导图可以帮助固定这些词的含义。

Many verbs are followed by à or de before an infinitive: ‘J’ai commencé à lire’ vs ‘J’ai décidé de sortir’. This is a rich topic for IGCSE, so build a small list of high-frequency verb + preposition combinations per week.

很多动词后接不定式时需要搭配 à 或 de,如 ‘J’ai commencé à lire’ 对比 ‘J’ai décidé de sortir’。这个知识点在 IGCSE 中
