📚 IGCSE Edexcel French: High Scorers’ Tips & Strategies | IGCSE Edexcel 法语:学霸高分经验分享

As a student who achieved a grade 9 in IGCSE Edexcel French, I want to share the exact methods, habits and insider strategies that made the difference. Whether you are aiming for a top grade or simply want to boost your confidence in French, this guide breaks down every component of the exam and the revision approaches that really work. I will walk you through listening, reading, writing and speaking, plus grammar, vocabulary and the mindset that keeps you calm under pressure.

作为一名在 IGCSE Edexcel 法语考试中取得 9 分的学生,我想分享那些真正起作用的复习方法、习惯和内部策略。无论你的目标是高分,还是只想增强对法语的信心,这篇指南都会逐一拆解考试的每个部分以及亲测有效的备考方式。我会带你深入听力、阅读、写作和口语,还会讲解语法、词汇以及帮助你在压力下保持冷静的心态。

1. Understanding the Exam Structure | 了解考试结构

Before you even open a textbook, you must know exactly what you are up against. The Edexcel IGCSE French exam is split into four papers: Paper 1 Listening (30 minutes, 25%), Paper 2 Reading and Writing (1 hour 45 minutes, 50%), Paper 3 Speaking (8–10 minutes, 25%) and Paper 4 Writing (1 hour 15 minutes, 25%). In reality, the reading and writing marks are combined in Paper 2, and the final writing paper is optional for some routes, but most candidates take all components. Check your exact entry code, because the structure influences where you should invest your time.

Paper Weight Duration Key focus
Paper 1: Listening 25% 30 min Multiple-choice, gap-fill, short answers
Paper 2: Reading & Writing 50% 1h 45min Comprehension, grammar, short writing tasks
Paper 3: Speaking 25% 8–10 min Role play, picture task, conversation
Paper 4: Writing (optional) 25% 1h 15min Extended writing from a choice of tasks

I always advise starting your revision by printing out a one-page summary of the exam breakdown and sticking it on your wall. Every time you sit down to study, you will clearly see which skills carry the most marks. This awareness helps you avoid the trap of spending too long on one area, such as perfecting grammar exercises, while neglecting listening practice.

我一直建议学生先打印一张考试结构一览表贴在墙上。每次坐下来学习时都能清楚地看到哪些技能分值最大。这种意识能帮助你避免陷入一个常见误区,比如花过多时间雕琢语法练习,却忽视了听力训练。

2. Listening Secrets That Really Work | 真正有效的听力秘诀

Many students find listening the hardest paper because the recording is played only twice and the accents can catch you off guard. My number one tip is to train your ear with authentic material every day – even for just 10 minutes. Listen to French songs on Spotify, watch French YouTubers like Cyprien or innerFrench, and use past paper audio tracks repeatedly until you can transcribe the gist without looking at the transcript.

很多同学觉得听力卷最难,因为录音只放两遍,而且口音可能让人猝不及防。我的第一要诀是每天用真实语料训练耳朵——哪怕只有 10 分钟。听 Spotify 上的法语歌,看 Cyprien 或 innerFrench 之类的法语 YouTube 频道,反复使用往年真题音频,直到你能在不看文稿的情况下听写出大意。

During the exam, use the time before the audio starts to read the questions and underline key words. Predict what kind of information you need: a number, a time, an opinion adjective, a place. While listening, jot down the first letter of possible answers – you do not have time to write full words. I also recommend listening for ‘negative triggers’ like ‘ne … pas’, ‘ne … jamais’, ‘ne … plus’ because they completely flip the meaning.

在考场上,一定要利用录音播放前的时间阅读题目并划出关键词。预判你需要的信息类型:数字、时间、表达观点的形容词、地点。听的时候只写下可能答案的首字母——没有时间写完整词汇。我还建议特别留意“否定触发词”,比如 ne … pas、ne … jamais、ne … plus,因为它们会彻底翻转原意。

3. Reading Techniques That Boost Accuracy | 提升准确率的阅读技巧

IGCSE Edexcel reading papers mix straightforward comprehension with more subtle opinion-based questions. I approach every text with a two-step scan: first, skim the title, introduction and questions to build a mental map. Second, read the passage actively, looking for synonyms and paraphrases rather than exact word matches. The exam board loves to rephrase the question using different vocabulary, so building your synonym bank is vital.

IGCSE Edexcel 的阅读卷融合了直接理解与更含蓄的基于观点的题目。我处理每篇文章都采用两步扫描法:第一步,略读标题、引言和问题,构建心理地图。第二步,主动阅读文章,寻找同义词和转述,而非完全一致的原词。考局非常喜欢用不同的词汇重新表达问题,因此扩充同义词库至关重要。

Another top-scorer strategy is to tackle the questions in order of difficulty. Start with the ‘find and copy’ or true/false tasks where the answer is visibly located in the text. Leave the open-ended ‘why’ or ‘what do you learn about’ questions until the end, because they require you to infer and combine information from different parts of the passage. Always write in English where required and never lift whole French sentences for comprehension answers unless the instruction specifically says to copy.

另一个高分策略是按难度顺序答题。先做“找出来抄写”或判断正误题,因为答案可以直接在文中定位。把开放式问题,如“为什么”或“你从中了解到什么”留到最后,因为它们需要你推断并综合文章不同部分的信息。要求用英语作答的题目一定要用英语写,除非题目明确要求抄写,否则不要照搬整句法语。

4. Mastering the Writing Tasks | 掌握写作任务

Writing is where you can really showcase your range. I scored full marks consistently by following a ‘Content – Accuracy – Richness’ checklist. Start by bullet-pointing exactly what each bullet in the question asks for, because missing a content point means losing communication marks. Next, aim for a clear structure: a short opening, developed paragraphs and a brief closing. Use a variety of tenses: present for routines, perfect tense for past experiences, future tense for plans, and if you feel confident, throw in a si clause with imperfect and conditional.

写作是你真正展现语言广度的地方。我一直通过遵循“内容—准确度—丰富度”清单来取得满分。首先,用要点形式列出题目每个小点所要求的内容,因为遗漏内容点就会失掉传达分。其次,追求清晰的结构:简短开头、展开的段落和简短结尾。要使用多种时态:现在时写日常、复合过去时写经历、将来时写计划,如果你有信心,可以加入一个假设句(si + 未完成过去时,条件式)。

For opinion pieces and blogs, stockpile advanced opinion phrases such as ‘je dirais que’, ‘il me semble que’, ‘en ce qui me concerne’, and connectors like ‘cependant’, ‘en revanche’, ‘de plus’. Never submit a piece without checking for common errors: adjective agreements, correct auxiliary (être vs avoir) in the perfect tense, and spelling of high-frequency irregular verbs. I used to write out my top 10 personal error fixes on a sticky note and review it before every writing practice.

对于表达观点的文章和博客,要储备高级观点表达,如 je dirais que、il me semble que、en ce qui me concerne,以及 cependant、en revanche、de plus 等连接词。绝不能不检查就提交作文:形容词配合、复合过去时中助动词 être 和 avoir 的正确选择,以及高频不规则动词的拼写。我习惯在一张便利贴上写下我最常犯的 10 个错误及纠正方法,每次写作练习前看一遍。

5. Speaking with Confidence | 自信地进行口语表达

The speaking exam may only last 8–10 minutes, but it is highly predictable. I prepared by breaking the conversation part into the five Edexcel themes: Identity and culture, Local area, holiday and travel, School, Future aspirations, study and work, and International and global dimension. For each theme, I memorised three to five sophisticated sentences that could fit many questions, such as ‘Si j’avais plus de temps, je voudrais faire du bénévolat dans un pays francophone.’

口语考试虽然只有 8–10 分钟,但可预测性很强。我的备考方式是把对话部分拆分成 Edexcel 的五大主题:身份与文化、当地环境、假日与旅行、学校、未来抱负、学习与工作,以及国际与全球维度。针对每个主题,我熟记三到五个能套用在多种问题上的精彩句子,比如“Si j’avais plus de temps, je voudrais faire du bénévolat dans un pays francophone。”

For the role play, listen for the register: ‘tu’ or ‘vous’. If the examiner addresses you as ‘tu’, reply with ‘tu’. Train yourself to ask at least one question and to use a negative form naturally, because these are often required. In the picture-based task, use the PALM technique: People, Action, Location, Mood. Describe what you see, then speculate with ‘peut-être’ or ‘il est probable que’. I practised recording myself on my phone and listening back; it was painful at first but improved my pronunciation dramatically.

在角色扮演环节,要注意听对方的称呼语:tu 还是 vous。如果考官用 tu 称呼你,你就要用 tu 作答。训练自己至少问一个问题,并自然地使用否定式,因为这些往往是得分点。在做图片描述时,运用 PALM 法则:人物、动作、地点、情绪。先描述所见,再用 peut-être 或 il est probable que 进行推测。我用手机录音并回听,一开始很痛苦,但大幅改善了我的发音。

6. Grammar and Verb Conjugations Demystified | 揭密语法和动词变位

Grammar underpins every skill. Rather than trying to learn the whole grammar book, I focused on the high-impact tenses that Edexcel regularly tests: present, perfect, imperfect, immediate future, simple future and conditional. I created a one-page verb sheet for key irregulars – être, avoir, aller, faire, pouvoir, vouloir, devoir, savoir, voir, prendre – and practised them daily in full sentences, not as isolated drills.

语法是各项技能的基础。与其试图啃完整本语法书,我选择聚焦于 Edexcel 常考的高频时态:现在时、复合过去时、未完成过去时、最近将来时、简单将来时和条件式。我为自己整理了一页关键不规则动词表——être、avoir、aller、faire、pouvoir、vouloir、devoir、savoir、voir、prendre——每天用完整句子练习,而不是孤立地背变位。

Tense Example (parler/choisir/vendre) When to use
Present je parle, je choisis, je vends Habits, general truths
Perfect (passé composé) j’ai parlé, j’ai choisi, j’ai vendu Completed past actions
Imperfect je parlais, je choisissais, je vendais Descriptions, habits in the past
Simple future je parlerai, je choisirai, je vendrai Future plans, predictions
Conditional je parlerais, je choisirais, je vendrais Hypothetical situations, polite requests

Adjective agreement and pronoun order are two other areas that separate grade 7 from grade 9. I made colour-coded flashcards: pink for feminine endings, blue for plural, and quizzed myself on phrases like ‘la vieille maison blanche’ vs ‘les vieux bâtiments blancs’. For pronouns, I memorised the sequence ‘me, te, se, nous, vous, se’ before ‘le, la, les’ before ‘lui, leur’ and practised with substitution exercises.

形容词配合和代词顺序是区分 7 分与 9 分的另外两大领域。我制作了颜色编码的闪卡:粉红色代表阴性词尾,蓝色代表复数,然后自测诸如 la vieille maison blanche 和 les vieux bâtiments blancs 这样的短语。代词方面,我熟记顺序——me, te, se, nous, vous, se 在 le, la, les 之前,le, la, les 又在 lui, leur 之前——并通过替换练习加以巩固。

7. Expanding Vocabulary Strategically | 有策略地扩充词汇量

You do not need to know every French word. The Edexcel specification provides a core vocabulary list, and I recommend mastering it entirely. However, to stand out, I enriched my active vocabulary by reading short news articles on ‘Le Petit Quotidien’ or ‘1jour1actu’ and noting down topic-specific words under headings like environment, technology, social issues. I aimed to learn 10 new chunks a day, always in a phrase, never as isolated words.

你不需要认识每个法语单词。Edexcel 考纲提供了一份核心词汇表,我建议完全掌握它。但为了脱颖而出,我通过阅读 Le Petit Quotidien 或 1jour1actu 上的简短新闻来丰富自己的主动词汇,并按照主题(如环境、科技、社会问题)记下特定词汇。我每天学习 10 个新的短语搭配,始终放在短语中记忆,绝不孤立记词。

A powerful revision trick is to create topic mind maps. For the theme ‘Holidays’, I would branch out into transport (le train, l’avion, la gare routière), accommodation (l’auberge de jeunesse, la chambre d’hôte), activities (faire de la randonnée, bronzer, visiter les monuments) and problems (perdre ses bagages, annuler une réservation). This web-like approach fixed words in my memory far more effectively than long vocabulary lists.

一个强大的复习窍门是制作主题思维导图。针对“假日”主题,我会画出分支:交通(le train, l’avion, la gare routière)、住宿(l’auberge de jeunesse, la chambre d’hôte)、活动(faire de la randonnée, bronzer, visiter les monuments)和问题(perdre ses bagages, annuler une réservation)。这种网状学习法比长长的词汇表更能牢固地把单词嵌进记忆里。

8. Practice with Past Papers Like a Pro | 像高手一样用真题练习

I completed every available past paper from 2017 onward under timed conditions, then I would spend twice as long marking and analysing. The mark scheme teaches you exactly what examiners reward. For listening and reading, I wrote down why I got a question wrong: misheard a tense, overlooked a negative, assumed a synonym was wrong. For writing and speaking, I annotated the model answers to see how top-level candidates structured their responses and used idiomatic expressions.

我在计时条件下做完了 2017 年以来所有能找到的真题,然后花两倍的时间批改和分析。评分方案把考官奖励什么标准展现得一清二楚。对于听力和阅读,我会记下错误原因:听错时态、忽视否定词、以为同义词是错的。对于写作和口语,我对高分范文进行批注,观察高分考生如何组织答案和使用地道表达。

I also used a traffic-light tracker: green for topics I aced, amber for inconsistent, red for weak areas. Each week I would pick one red and one amber area to drill. This targeted practice prevented me from wasting time on what I already knew well. If you are short on time, focus on Papers 2 and 3 because they carry the biggest combined weight.

我还使用交通灯追踪表:绿色代表我掌握的主题,黄色代表不稳定,红色代表薄弱区。每周我都会挑出一个红色和一个黄色区域进行专项训练。这种针对性练习防止我在已经熟练的内容上浪费时间。如果你的时间紧张,优先关注试卷二和试卷三,因为它们加起来分值最高。

9. Avoiding the Most Common Mistakes | 避免最常见的错误

Small errors repeat and can cost you a grade boundary. The most frequent mistakes I see (and used to make) are forgetting to make the past participle agree when the direct object comes before the verb (e.g. ‘la pomme que j’ai mangée’), confusing ‘bon’ and ‘bien’, mixing up ‘c’est’ and ‘il est’, and applying English word order to French sentences. Build a habit of proofreading with a specific checklist: verb endings, adjective agreements, and accents – yes, missing accents count as spelling mistakes.

小错误反复出现,可能会让你跌出等级边界。我观察到(过去也常犯)的最频密错误包括:当直接宾语前置时忘记过去分词的配合(如 la pomme que j’ai mangée)、混淆 bon 和 bien、分不清 c’est 和 il est,以及把英语语序套用到法语句子中。养成用特定清单检查的习惯:动词词尾、形容词配合和重音符号——没错,漏掉重音也算拼写错误。

Another trap is answering with more than required. In short writing tasks, stick to the word count. Writing too much increases the risk of revealing errors. In the reading paper, do not explain beyond the evidence in the text – inference is fine, but pure guesswork loses marks. I kept a ‘mistake log’ and revised it the night before the exam, which gave me an instant focus boost.

另一个陷阱是超出作答要求。在短写作任务中,务必遵守字数限制。写得太多会增加暴露错误的风险。在阅读卷中,不要解释文本中没有的内容——推理可以,但纯粹猜测会丢分。我保有一本“错题日志”,在考试前一晚温习一遍,立刻让我的注意力集中起来。

10. Mindset, Timing and the Final Push | 心态、时间管理与最后冲刺

In the final weeks, I shifted from learning new content to consolidating and building confidence. I simulated entire exam sessions at the same time of day as the real papers, even using the same type of pen. Sleep, hydration and short walks between study blocks made a noticeable difference to my concentration. For speaking, I visualised a calm conversation with the examiner rather than a scary interrogation.

在最后几周,我从学习新内容转向巩固与建立信心。我模拟全天考试,选在与真正考试相同的时间段进行,甚至使用相同类型的笔。睡眠、补水以及学习板块间的短暂散步对我的专注力产生了显著影响。对于口语,我把它想象成与考官的一次平静对话,而不是一场可怕的审讯。

On exam day, allocate your time proportionally to the marks. In Paper 2, do not spend 40 minutes on a 10-mark writing question while leaving a longer reading section untouched. Use the last 5 minutes of any paper exclusively for checking your most common personal pitfalls. And remember: perfection is not the goal – clear communication and solid application of the skills you have developed is what earns top marks.

考试当天,按照分值按比例分配时间。在试卷二中,不要在一个 10 分的写作题上花掉 40 分钟,却让更长篇幅的阅读部分空着。任何试卷的最后 5 分钟都只用来检查你最常犯的个人性错误。记住:完美并非目标——清晰的交流和你已掌握的扎实技能才是赢取高分的法宝。
