1. Noun Genders and Articles | 名词的性别和冠词
Every German noun carries one of three grammatical genders: masculine, feminine or neuter. The definite article in the nominative singular is der (masculine), die (feminine) and das (neuter). The indefinite article is ein (m./n.) and eine (f.). Learning the gender together with the noun is non-negotiable because it controls all later declensions.
每个德语名词都带有三种语法性别之一:阳性、阴性或中性。单数主格的定冠词为 der(阳性)、die(阴性)和 das(中性)。不定冠词是 ein(阳/中)和 eine(阴)。必须将性别与名词一起记忆,因为它会影响后续所有的变格。
A few gender patterns exist: nouns ending in -ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft, -tion are usually feminine; those in -chen, -lein are neuter; many one-syllable nouns derived from strong verbs are masculine. However, exceptions abound, so always treat the article as part of the vocabulary.
一些性别规律有助于记忆:以 -ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft, -tion 结尾的名词通常为阴性;以 -chen, -lein 结尾的为中性;许多由强变化动词派生的单音节名词为阳性。但例外很多,所以始终要把冠词当作词汇的一部分来学习。
2. Plural Forms of Nouns | 名词的复数形式
There are five main plural patterns in German. No single rule covers all nouns, so the plural must be memorised with the gender. The most common markers are:
The plural definite article in all cases is die (nominative/accusative), der (dative) and der (genitive). In dative plural, the noun generally adds an -n if it does not already end in -n or -s.
复数在所有格中的定冠词为 die(主格/宾格)、der(与格)和 der(属格)。在与格复数中,如果名词不以 -n 或 -s 结尾,通常要加上 -n。
3. Cases: Nominative, Accusative, Dative, Genitive | 格:主格、宾格、与格、属格
The four cases signal the role of a noun or pronoun in a sentence. Nominative marks the subject; accusative the direct object; dative the indirect object; and genitive possession or relationship. Case triggers are found after certain prepositions and verbs.
四种格表示名词或代词在句子中的功能。主格表示主语;宾格表示直接宾语;与格表示间接宾语;属格表示所属关系。某些介词和动词后固定要求使用特定格。
Prepositions that always take the accusative: durch, für, gegen, ohne, um. Always dative: aus, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu. Two-way prepositions (an, auf, hinter, in, neben, über, unter, vor, zwischen) take accusative for direction (wohin?) and dative for location (wo?).
始终支配宾格的介词:durch, für, gegen, ohne, um。始终支配与格的介词:aus, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu。双向介词(an, auf, hinter, in, neben, über, unter, vor, zwischen)表示方向时(wohin?)用宾格,表示位置时(wo?)用与格。
Common verbs that take a dative object include helfen, danken, glauben, gefallen, gehören. The genitive is used less often in everyday speech but remains vital for formal writing, often replaced by von + dative in spoken German.
常见支配与格宾语的动词有 helfen, danken, glauben, gefallen, gehören。属格在日常口语中使用较少,但在正式书面语中仍很重要,口语中常被 von + 与格替代。
4. Definite and Indefinite Articles in All Cases | 定冠词和不定冠词的所有格
The tables below summarise the article forms. Mastering these is the foundation for adjective endings and pronoun use.
下表总结了冠词形式。掌握它们是学习形容词词尾和代词使用的基础。
| Case | Masc. | Fem. | Neut. | Plural |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nominative (def.) | der | die | das | die |
| Accusative (def.) | den | die | das | die |
| Dative (def.) | dem | der | dem | den |
| Genitive (def.) | des | der | des | der |
Indefinite article (ein, eine, ein) follows the same pattern but has no plural. The negative article kein uses the same endings as ein and also has a plural form (keine). The genitive masculine/neuter adds -es to the noun (des Mannes, eines Kindes).
不定冠词(ein, eine, ein)遵循同样的变格模式,但没有复数形式。否定冠词 kein 的变格与 ein 相同,且有复数形式(keine)。阳性和中性属格时名词通常加 -es(des Mannes, eines Kindes)。
5. Adjective Endings | 形容词词尾变化
Adjective endings depend on three factors: case, gender, and the type of preceding word (definite article, indefinite article, or no article). The “formula” is that the adjective must signal the case clearly; if the determiner already does so, the adjective takes a weak ending (-e or -en). If not, the adjective takes the strong ending of the definite article for that case/gender.
形容词的词尾取决于三个因素:格、性别以及前置词的类型(定冠词、不定冠词或无冠词)。“公式”是形容词必须明确体现格的信息;如果限定词已经体现了格,形容词则采用弱变化词尾(-e 或 -en)。否则,形容词采用与同格定冠词相同的强变化词尾。
Weak endings (after der/die/das): nominative singular -e; all other singular -en; plural -en. After ein/eine/ein or kein (mixed declension): nominative masculine/neuter -er/-es; feminine nominative/accusative -e; neuter accusative -es; all other -en. Strong endings (no article) mirror the definite article endings: masculine nominative -er, accusative -en, dative -em, genitive -en; similarly for feminine and neuter.
弱变化词尾(在 der/die/das 之后):单数主格 -e;所有其他单数 -en;复数 -en。混合变化(在 ein/eine/ein 或 kein 之后):阳性主格/中性主格 -er/-es;阴性主/宾格 -e;中性宾格 -es;其余 -en。强变化(无冠词)词尾与定冠词词尾一致:阳性主格 -er,宾格 -en,与格 -em,属格 -en;阴性和中性同理。
6. Personal Pronouns | 人称代词
German personal pronouns change for case. The forms are:
德语人称代词随格变化。形式如下:
| Person | Nom. | Acc. | Dat. |
|---|---|---|---|
| ich | ich | mich | mir |
| du | du | dich | dir |
| er | er | ihn | ihm |
| sie (she) | sie | sie | ihr |
| es | es | es | ihm |
| wir | wir | uns | uns |
| ihr | ihr | euch | euch |
| sie/Sie | sie/Sie | sie/Sie | ihnen/Ihnen |
Reflexive pronouns mirror the accusative/dative personal pronouns except in the third person and formal Sie, where sich is used for both accusative and dative.
反身代词的形式与人称代词的宾格/与格一致,但在第三人称和尊称 Sie 时,宾格和与格都用 sich。
7. Present Tense Verb Conjugation | 动词现在时变位
The present tense is formed by adding regular endings to the stem. The formula is stem + -e, -st, -t, -en, -t, -en. For example, machen (stem: mach-) becomes ich mache, du machst, er/sie/es macht, wir machen, ihr macht, sie/Sie machen.
现在时的构成是在动词词干上加规则词尾。公式为词干 + -e, -st, -t, -en, -t, -en。例如 machen(词干:mach-)变为 ich mache, du machst, er/sie/es macht, wir machen, ihr macht, sie/Sie machen。
Stem-vowel changes affect strong verbs in the second and third person singular. Common patterns: e → i(e) (e.g. sehen → du siehst, er sieht) and a → ä (e.g. fahren → du fährst, er fährt). Verbs whose stem ends in -d, -t, or -s/-z/-ß insert an extra -e- before the -st/-t endings.
强变化动词在第二、第三人称单数时会发生词干元音变化。常见模式有:e → i(e)(如 sehen → du siehst, er sieht)和 a → ä(如 fahren → du fährst, er fährt)。词干以 -d, -t 或 -s/-z/-ß 结尾的动词,在 -st/-t 词尾前需加一个 -e-。
8. Modal Verbs and Separable Verbs | 情态动词和可分动词
The six modal verbs (können, müssen, dürfen, sollen, wollen, mögen) follow a special conjugation with a different vowel in the singular (ich/du/er) and no ending in the first and third person singular. Example: können – ich kann, du kannst, er kann, wir können, ihr könnt, sie können.
六个情态动词(können, müssen, dürfen, sollen, wollen, mögen)具有特殊的变位:单数人称(ich/du/er)中元音发生变化,并且第一和第三人称单数没有词尾。例如:können – ich kann, du kannst, er kann, wir können, ihr könnt, sie können。
In a main clause, the modal verb takes the second position (conjugated) and the main verb moves to the end in the infinitive form. Separable verbs consist of a prefix and a base verb; the prefix is detached and placed at the end of the clause in present and past main clauses. For example, anfangen: Ich fange um 8 Uhr an.
在主句中,情态动词位于第二位(变位形式),而主动词以不定式形式移至句末。可分动词由前缀和基础动词组成;在现在时和过去时的主句中,前缀分离并置于句末。例如 anfangen:Ich fange um 8 Uhr an.
When a separable verb is used with a modal verb, both elements stay together at the end in the infinitive: Ich muss um 8 Uhr anfangen.
当可分动词与情态动词连用时,两个部分一起以不定式形式位于句末:Ich muss um 8 Uhr anfangen.
9. Perfect Tense and Past Participle | 完成时和过去分词
The present perfect tense (Perfekt) is the most common past tense in spoken German. It is formed with an auxiliary verb (haben or sein) conjugated in the present tense, plus the past participle (Partizip II) at the end of the clause.
现在完成时(Perfekt)是德语口语中最常用的过去时态。它由现在时变位的助动词(haben 或 sein)加上置于句末的过去分词(Partizip II)构成。
The participle formula: ge- + verb stem + -t for weak verbs (e.g. machen → gemacht). Strong verbs often change the stem vowel and add -en: gehen → gegangen. Mixed verbs add -t but change the vowel: denken → gedacht. Verbs ending in -ieren and inseparable-prefix verbs drop ge-: studieren → studiert, verstehen → verstanden.
过去分词的构成公式:弱变化动词:ge- + 词干 + -t(如 machen → gemacht)。强变化动词通常改变词干元音并加 -en:gehen → gegangen。混合动词加 -t 但改变元音:denken → gedacht。以 -ieren 结尾的动词和不可分前缀动词不加 ge-:studieren → studiert, verstehen → verstanden。
Use sein for verbs of motion or state change (e.g. gehen, fahren, aufstehen, sterben) and haben for most others, including transitive verbs. The participle always goes to the end of the clause: Ich habe das Buch gelesen.
表示移动或状态变化的动词(如 gehen, fahren, aufstehen, sterben)用 sein 作助动词;大多数其他动词,包括及物动词,用 haben。过去分词始终位于句末:Ich habe das Buch gelesen.
10. Subordinate Clause Word Order | 从句语序
The defining rule for subordinate clauses is that the conjugated verb moves to the very end. The clause is introduced by a subordinating conjunction (e.g. dass, weil, wenn, obwohl, nachdem) or a relative pronoun. The standard pattern is: conjunction + subject + … + other elements + conjugated verb (final position).
从句的决定性规则是变位动词移至句末。从句由从属连词(如 dass, weil, wenn, obwohl, nachdem)或关系代词引导。标准模式为:连词 + 主语 + … + 其他成分 + 变位动词(末位)。
Example: Ich glaube, dass er morgen kommt. In a subordinate clause that contains a modal verb, the modal verb goes to the end, and the main verb infinitive precedes it: …, weil ich arbeiten muss. In a perfect-tense subordinate clause, the auxiliary (haben/sein) goes to the end: …, nachdem ich das Buch gelesen habe.
例如:Ich glaube, dass er morgen kommt. 如果从句中含有情态动词,情态动词位于句末,主动词不定式在其前:…, weil ich arbeiten muss. 在完成时的从句中,助动词(haben/sein)位于句末:…, nachdem ich das Buch gelesen habe.
When a subordinate clause precedes the main clause, the main clause begins with the conjugated verb (verb-first position): Weil er krank war, blieb er zu Hause.
当从句置于主句之前时,主句以变位动词开头(动词首位):Weil er krank war, blieb er zu Hause.
11. Subjunctive II (Konjunktiv II) | 第二虚拟式
The Subjunctive II is used for hypothetical situations, polite requests, and indirect speech (mainly in formal writing). The general formula for present/future hypotheticals is the würde + infinitive construction: Ich würde gehen, wenn ich Zeit hätte. However, for common auxiliary and modal verbs, the real Subjunctive II forms are preferred.
第二虚拟式用于假设、委婉请求以及(正式书面语中的)间接引语。现在/将来假设的一般公式是 würde + 不定式:Ich würde gehen, wenn ich Zeit hätte. 但对于常用的助动词和情态动词,更倾向使用真正的第二虚拟形式。
Key true forms: haben → hätte, sein → wäre, werden → würde (already known). For the modals: können → könnte, müssen → müsste, dürfen → dürfte, sollen → sollte, wollen → wollte, mögen → möchte. Strong verbs often use an umlaut + -e, -est, -e, -en: e.g. kommen → käme, gehen → ginge. The past hypothetical is formed with hätte/wäre + past participle.
关键的真实形式:haben → hätte,sein → wäre,werden → würde(已熟悉)。情态动词:können → könnte, müssen → müsste, dürfen → dürfte, sollen → sollte, wollen → wollte, mögen → möchte。强变化动词常用变音 + -e, -est, -e, -en:如 kommen → käme, gehen → ginge。过去假设由 hätte/wäre + 过去分词 构成。
12. Key Prepositional and Case Formulae | 关键介词与格的搭配公式
Many German verbs are tightly bound to specific prepositions and cases. Learning these as fixed ‘formulae’ prevents common errors. Examples: sich freuen über + acc. (to be happy about), sich interessieren für + acc. (to be interested in), warten auf + acc. (to wait for), abhängen von + dat. (to depend on), denken an + acc. (to think of), Angst haben vor + dat. (to be afraid of).
许多德语动词与特定的介词和格紧密搭配。将这些搭配作为固定“公式”学习可以避免常见错误。例如:sich freuen über + 宾格(对……感到高兴),sich interessieren für + 宾格(对……感兴趣),warten auf + 宾格(等待),abhängen von + 与格(取决于),denken an + 宾格(想起),Angst haben vor + 与格(害怕)。
In a clause, when the prepositional object is a person, a da-compound is often used if it is an impersonal complement: Ich freue mich darauf. For questions, use the wo-compound: Worauf wartest du?
在从句中,当介词宾语是事物或情况时,常用 da-复合词代替:Ich freue mich darauf. 提问时使用 wo-复合词:Worauf wartest du?
The order of objects follows: dative before accusative unless both are pronouns, in which case accusative precedes dative. The basic clause structure is: Time – Manner – Place for adverbials, though this is flexible for emphasis.
宾语顺序为:与格在宾格之前,除非两者都是代词,此时宾格先于与格。状语的基本语序为:时间 – 方式 – 地点,但可因强调而变化。
