The Core assessment in Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry is the standard-tier route designed for candidates who need secure grades C to G. Core assessment is not a different chemistry syllabus; it is a tiered assessment option within IGCSE Chemistry. Core candidates study the Core subject content and sit Core-specific papers, which are shorter and less demanding than Extended papers. The key restriction is that Core candidates can achieve grades C, D, E, F or G only, with C as the maximum.

Core assessment covers all the main chemistry topics but only the Core learning outcomes in the syllabus. Assessment objectives describe what the exam rewards. AO3 Experimental skills and investigations is assessed mainly through the practical paper.

5. Paper 1 Multiple Choice (Core) | 选择题 Paper 1
Paper 1 contains 40 multiple-choice questions, each with four options A to D. There is only one correct answer per question, and no marks are deducted for wrong answers.
