Before you revise, check which syllabus you are taking, because the exact papers and weightings differ. The three common CAIE IGCSE Chinese courses are First Language Chinese 0509, Second Language Chinese 0523 and Mandarin Chinese Foreign Language 0547. In all of them, practical competence means using Chinese meaningfully in real-life tasks rather than performing laboratory procedures.
