WJEC IGCSE French: Practical/Oral Assessment Essentials | WJEC IGCSE 法语:实践/口语考核要点

📚 WJEC IGCSE French: Practical/Oral Assessment Essentials | WJEC IGCSE 法语:实践/口语考核要点

Although French is not a laboratory subject, the “practical” component in WJEC IGCSE French is the speaking examination. This is where you apply vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation in real-time spoken interaction, just as a science student would apply procedures in a lab. Success depends on controlled speaking, quick responses and the ability to keep communication going under time pressure.

虽然法语不是实验室学科,但在 WJEC IGCSE 法语中,“实践”部分就是口语考试。这需要你像理科学生做实验一样,把词汇、语法和发音实时应用到口语交流中。能否在时间压力下进行有控制的口语表达、快速应答并维持交流,是取得高分的关键。

1. What “Practical Assessment” Means in French | 法语的“实践考核”是什么

In WJEC IGCSE French, the practical assessment is not a written experiment but a live spoken performance. It tests your ability to understand questions, respond spontaneously, narrate events, express opinions and justify them. The practical nature comes from unrehearsed interaction with an examiner, not from memorising a fixed script.

在 WJEC IGCSE 法语中,实践考核不是书面实验,而是现场口语表现。它考查你能否听懂问题、即兴作答、叙述事件、表达观点并说明理由。实践性体现在与考官的即兴互动,而不是背诵固定稿件。

The speaking exam usually takes place before the written papers and may be conducted by your own teacher or an external examiner. You will be recorded so that marks can be checked and standardised. Your performance is assessed against criteria for communication, range of language, accuracy and pronunciation.

口语考试通常安排在笔试之前,可能由本校老师或外部考官进行。整个过程会被录音,以便复核和统一评分。评分标准主要围绕交流能力、语言广度、语法准确性和发音四点展开。

2. Overview of the WJEC French Speaking Exam | WJEC 法语口语考试概览

The speaking assessment is usually divided into three main tasks: a role-play, a photo card discussion, and a general conversation. These tasks are designed around the three main themes: Identity and culture, Wales and the world, and Current and future study and employment.

口语考试通常分为三个主要任务:角色扮演、图片卡片讨论和综合对话。这些任务围绕三大主题设计:身份与文化、威尔士与世界、当前及未来的学习与就业。

Task What you do Key skill
Role-play Respond to a short scenario, such as buying a train ticket or asking about a lost item Functional language and question forms
Photo card Describe a photo and answer related questions, often on a thematic topic Description, opinion, present and past tense
General conversation Take part in a longer discussion on at least one theme Extended answers, spontaneity, justification

Each task builds on the previous one: the role-play checks survival language, the photo card checks description and opinion, and the conversation checks whether you can sustain a natural exchange over several minutes.

每个任务都建立在前一个任务的基础上:角色扮演考查生存语言,图片卡片考查描述和观点表达,综合对话则考查你能否在几分钟内进行持续自然的交流。

3. Role-Play: Core Skills | 角色扮演:核心技能

The role-play is short but very useful for picking up marks. You will be given a scenario in English or French, with bullet points telling you what to say. You must listen carefully to the examiner’s opening question and respond to each bullet point appropriately.

角色扮演时间很短,但很容易得分。题目会给出一段英文或法文情景说明,并用要点列明你需要表达的内容。你必须仔细听考官的开场提问,并针对每个要点作出恰当回应。

Useful strategies include learning high-frequency transactional phrases such as “Je voudrais…”, “C’est combien ?”, “À quelle heure… ?” and “Je peux payer par carte ?” For unexpected questions, keep your answer simple and relevant rather than trying to impress with complex grammar.

实用策略包括熟记高频交易用语,例如 “Je voudrais…”、”C’est combien ?”、”À quelle heure… ?” 和 “Je peux payer par carte ?” 遇到意外提问时,答案应简洁切题,不要为了炫耀复杂语法而偏离主题。

You should also practise forming questions. In many role-plays, one bullet point requires you to ask a question, such as asking where something is, how much something costs, or whether a service is available. Being able to invert or use “Est-ce que…” quickly is essential.

你还需要练习如何提问。很多角色扮演的某个要点会要求你提出一个问题,例如问地点、价格或某项服务是否提供。能够快速使用倒装或 “Est-ce que…” 结构提问至关重要。

4. Photo Card Discussion: Description, Opinion, Justification | 图片卡片讨论:描述、观点、论证

The photo card task usually begins with a simple question like “Qu’est-ce qu’il y a sur la photo ?” You should describe what you can see using present tense sentences, starting with basic structures such as “Sur la photo, je vois…”, “Il y a…”, “La personne est…”, and “Ils sont en train de…”

图片卡片任务通常以 “Qu’est-ce qu’il y a sur la photo ?” 这样的问题开始。你需要用现在时描述图片内容,从基本结构入手,例如 “Sur la photo, je vois…”、”Il y a…”、”La personne est…” 和 “Ils sont en train de…”。

After description, the examiner will ask opinion questions, for example “Tu aimes… ?” or “Pourquoi ?” You must go beyond “oui” or “non” by adding justification: “parce que c’est intéressant”, “car je trouve ça utile”, “puisque c’est bon pour la santé”. Using connectives such as “parce que”, “car”, “donc”, “mais” and “cependant” improves your communication score.

描述之后,考官会问观点类问题,例如 “Tu aimes… ?” 或 “Pourquoi ?” 你的回答必须超越“是”或“不是”,要加上理由,例如 “parce que c’est intéressant”、”car je trouve ça utile”、”puisque c’est bon pour la santé”。使用 “parce que”、”car”、”donc”、”mais” 和 “cependant” 等连接词能提高交流得分。

If the photo shows a past event or you are asked “Qu’est-ce que tu as fait… ?”, be ready to switch to the perfect tense with avoir or être. Practise common past-tense verbs: “j’ai mangé”, “je suis allé(e)”, “j’ai regardé”, “nous avons joué”, “on a visité”.

如果图片涉及过去事件,或被问到 “Qu’est-ce que tu as fait… ?”,你要准备好切换到 avoir 或 être 引导的复合过去时。多练习常见过去时动词,例如 “j’ai mangé”、”je suis allé(e)”、”j’ai regardé”、”nous avons joué”、”on a visité”。

5. General Conversation: Themes and Extended Answers | 综合对话:主题与扩展回答

The general conversation is the longest and most demanding part of the speaking exam. You are expected to speak in full sentences, develop responses with reasons and examples, and move between tenses. Avoid one-word answers; always add a detail or an opinion.

综合对话是口语考试中时间最长、要求最高的部分。你需要用完整句子作答,并通过理由和例子扩展回答,还要能在不同时态之间切换。避免只回答一个词,总要在回答后补充细节或观点。

Prepare thematic vocabulary for topics such as family and friends, school, free time, technology, food, holidays, the environment, and future plans. For each topic, learn at least five strong adjectives, five verbs, and two model questions. Example: “Je m’entends bien avec ma famille parce qu’on rigole souvent ensemble.”

为以下主题准备词汇:家庭和朋友、学校、空闲时间、科技、饮食、假期、环境和未来计划。每个主题至少掌握五个形容词、五个动词和两个示例问题。例如:”Je m’entends bien avec ma famille parce qu’on rigole souvent ensemble.”

WJEC themes often include a Wales dimension, so be ready to talk about your local area, Welsh culture or comparisons with France. Phrases such as “Au pays de Galles, il y a…”, “Chez nous, on a l’habitude de…”, and “En France, c’est différent parce que…” show cultural awareness.

WJEC 的主题常常涉及威尔士内容,因此要准备好谈论你所在的地区、威尔士文化或与法国进行比较。使用 “Au pays de Galles, il y a…”、”Chez nous, on a l’habitude de…” 和 “En France, c’est différent parce que…” 等短语可以体现文化意识。

6. Pronunciation, Intonation and Fluency | 发音、语调与流利度

Examiners listen for clear pronunciation of French sounds, especially nasal vowels, silent final consonants, and the difference between “u” and “ou”. For example, “tu” and “tout”, “rue” and “roue”, “vin” and “vent” must be distinguishable.

考官会注意法语发音是否清晰,尤其是鼻化元音、词尾不发音的辅音以及 “u” 和 “ou” 的区别。例如 “tu” 和 “tout”、”rue” 和 “roue”、”vin” 和 “vent” 必须能够区分。

Fluency does not mean speaking quickly. It means maintaining a steady rhythm, pausing naturally, and not translating every word into English in your head. Use filler expressions such as “alors”, “en fait”, “donc”, “voyons” and “euh” sparingly to sound more natural.

流利不代表说得快,而是保持稳定节奏、自然停顿,并且不在脑中逐词翻译成英语。适当使用 “alors”、”en fait”、”donc”、”voyons” 和 “euh” 等填充语会让你听起来更自然。

Practise reading aloud every day. Record yourself saying model answers, compare your pronunciation with audio resources, and repeat difficult words. Focusing on intonation in questions is also useful: in spoken French, questions often rise at the end when using intonation, e.g. “Tu viens ?”

每天都要练习朗读。录下自己朗读范文,与音频资源比较发音,并重复难读单词。注意疑问句语调也很重要:法语口语中,用升调提问时句末通常上扬,例如 “Tu viens ?”。

7. Grammar and Range: Quality of Language | 语法与语言广度

To reach the higher mark bands, you must show a range of structures. This includes present, perfect and near future tenses, modal verbs, negative forms, opinions, comparatives and some complex sentences. A good target is to use at least three tenses in the general conversation.

要想进入高分段,你必须展示语言结构的广度,包括现在时、复合过去时、最近将来时、情态动词、否定式、观点表达、比较级和部分复杂句。一个合理的目标是在综合对话中至少使用三种时态。

Do not rely only on “je” forms. Use “nous”, “on”, “ils”, and occasionally “il faut” or “on doit” to show range. Examples: “On pourrait aller au cinéma”, “Il vaut mieux manger sainement”, “Si j’avais le choix, je préférerais…”

不要只依赖 “je” 作主语的句式。使用 “nous”、”on”、”ils”,并适当使用 “il faut” 或 “on doit” 来体现语言广度。例如:”On pourrait aller au cinéma”、”Il vaut mieux manger sainement”、”Si j’avais le choix, je préférerais…”。

Accuracy still matters. Frequent errors with basic verbs like “être”, “avoir”, “aller” and “faire” can limit your mark. In the final weeks, drill the present tense of irregular verbs, the perfect tense with avoir and être, and the near future “je vais + infinitive”.

准确性同样重要。基础动词如 “être”、”avoir”、”aller” 和 “faire” 的频繁错误会拉低分数。在最后几周,要反复练习不规则动词的现在时、avoir 和 être 引导的复合过去时,以及 “je vais + 不定式” 的最近将来时。

8. Asking for Repetition and Repair Strategies | 请求重复与补救策略

If you do not understand a question, it is better to ask for clarification in French than to stay silent or answer the wrong thing. Useful phrases include “Pouvez-vous répéter, s’il vous plaît ?”, “Je ne comprends pas”, “Pourriez-vous parler plus lentement ?”, and “Qu’est-ce que ça veut dire ?”

如果没有听懂问题,最好用法语请求澄清,而不是保持沉默或答错。实用表达包括 “Pouvez-vous répéter, s’il vous plaît ?”、”Je ne comprends pas”、”Pourriez-vous parler plus lentement ?” 和 “Qu’est-ce que ça veut dire ?”。

If you make a mistake, correct yourself briefly and continue. You can say “Pardon, je voulais dire…” or “Non, ce n’est pas ça. Je veux dire que…” Examiners reward successful self-correction because it shows you are monitoring your own language.

如果出现错误,可以简短纠正后继续。你可以说 “Pardon, je voulais dire…” 或 “Non, ce n’est pas ça. Je veux dire que…”。考官会奖励成功的自我纠正,因为这表明你在监控自己的语言输出。

If you do not know a word, use a circumlocution strategy. For example, if you cannot remember “le réfrigérateur”, say “la machine où on garde la nourriture au froid”. This keeps communication going and demonstrates resourcefulness.

如果不会某个单词,可以用迂回表达。例如,想不起 “le réfrigérateur” 时,可以说 “la machine où on garde la nourriture au froid”。这样能保持交流继续,并体现应变能力。

9. Preparation and Timed Practice | 备考与限时练习

Create a bank of model answers for each theme, but do not memorise them word-for-word. Examiners can tell when candidates recite a rehearsed script, and memorised answers often fail when a follow-up question changes direction. Instead, memorise key phrases, sentence starters and vocabulary chunks.

为每个主题准备一本文稿库,但不要逐字背诵。考官能识别考生是否在背诵预先准备好的稿子,而且一旦后续问题改变方向,背诵的答案往往难以应对。应记忆关键短语、句型开头和词汇块,而不是整段答案。

Practise under timed conditions. Give yourself one minute to prepare a photo card, then speak for two minutes without stopping. Record your performance and score it against the marking criteria. This builds the mental stamina needed for the real exam.

要在限时条件下练习。给自己一分钟准备图片卡片,然后连续说两分钟。录下自己的表现,并按评分标准打分。这能增强真实考试所需的思维耐力。

Work with a partner where possible. One person plays the examiner and asks unpredictable questions. This improves listening comprehension and teaches you to cope with unexpected prompts. Even practising alone by answering random topic questions aloud is useful.

尽可能与同伴练习。一人扮演考官,提出不可预测的问题。这能提高听力理解能力,并让你学会应对意外追问。即使独自练习,随机抽取主题问题并大声回答也很有用。

10. Exam Day: Timing, Notes and Rules | 考试当天:时间、笔记与规则

Arrive early and warm up your French by reading a short text aloud or repeating key phrases. Avoid trying to learn new material in the waiting room; this can increase anxiety. Focus on breathing and speaking at a controlled pace.

提前到达考场,通过朗读短文或复述关键短语来给法语“热身”。不要试图在候考时学习新内容,这会增加焦虑。专注于呼吸,并以有控制的语速说话。

Know what materials you are allowed to take in. Normally you cannot take prepared notes into the speaking exam, but you may be given a stimulus card or brief preparation time. Check your school’s instructions and follow the invigilator’s guidance exactly.

了解你可以带入考场的是什么材料。通常不允许把预先准备的笔记带入口语考试,但可能会给你一张提示卡或短暂准备时间。遵循学校的考试指引和监考老师的指示。

During the exam, sit comfortably, make eye contact where appropriate, and speak clearly. If you are being recorded, do not look at the recording device. Treat the examiner as a conversation partner, not as a judge, while still maintaining a formal enough register.

考试中坐姿自然,适当进行眼神交流,说话清晰。如果被录音,不要看录音设备。把考官当作对话伙伴,而不是审判者,同时保持适当的正式语气。

11. Common Mistakes That Lose Marks | 常见失分错误

One common error is giving too-short answers. If the examiner asks “Tu aimes le sport ?”, answering “Oui” loses the chance to show language. A better answer is “Oui, j’aime le sport, surtout le football, parce que je joue avec mes amis tous les week-ends.”

一个常见错误是回答过短。如果考官问 “Tu aimes le sport ?”,只回答 “Oui” 就失去了展示语言的机会。更好的回答是 “Oui, j’aime le sport, surtout le football, parce que je joue avec mes amis tous les week-ends.”

Another mistake is using English fillers or pausing in silence for too long. Saying “um” or “like” does not count as French communication. Train yourself to use French fillers or to repeat the question while thinking: “Le sport ? Oui, j’aime beaucoup le sport…”

另一个错误是使用英语填充词或长时间沉默。”um” 或 “like” 不计入法语交流。训练自己使用法语填充词,或在思考时重复问题:”Le sport ? Oui, j’aime beaucoup le sport…”。

Many candidates also forget to address the second person form “tu” correctly in questions. If you need to ask “Do you like…?”, make sure you use “Tu aimes… ?” or “Est-ce que tu aimes… ?” rather than blending English word order.

很多考生还会在提问时忘记正确使用第二人称 “tu”。如果需要问“你喜欢……吗?”,要确保使用 “Tu aimes… ?” 或 “Est-ce que tu aimes… ?”,而不是把英语词序混进法语。

12. Final Checklist | 最终检查清单

Before your speaking exam, check that you can do the following: greet the examiner confidently, ask for repetition, describe a photo in three sentences, give an opinion with justification, use present, perfect and near future tenses, and correct yourself after a mistake.

口语考试前,检查自己能否做到以下几点:自信地问候考官、请求重复、用三句话描述图片、给出带理由的观点、使用现在时、复合过去时和最近将来时,以及犯错后进行自我纠正。

  • Role-play: I can ask at least two questions and use polite forms. 角色扮演:我能至少提出两个问题并使用礼貌用语。
  • Photo card: I can describe people, objects and actions, then give an opinion. 图片卡片:我能描述人物、物品和动作,然后给出观点。
  • Conversation: I can speak for at least four minutes across themes with three tenses. 综合对话:我能围绕主题用三种时态持续说至少四分钟。
  • Pronunciation: I can pronounce key vowel sounds and nasal vowels clearly. 发音:我能清晰发出关键元音和鼻化元音。
  • Repair: I know how to ask for help in French without switching to English. 补救:我知道如何用法语求助,而不是切换成英语。

Use this checklist in the final week to identify weak areas and target them with focused practice. A calm, well-prepared candidate who communicates meaningfully will always earn more marks than one who tries to show off complicated structures without control.

在最后一周使用这份清单找出薄弱环节并进行针对性练习。一个冷静、准备充分且能有效交流的考生,总是比盲目堆砌复杂结构却缺乏控制的考生更容易获得高分。
