    📚 Common Misconceptions in CIE A-Level Physics | A-Level CIE 物理常见误区

    Understanding physics concepts correctly is essential for success in CIE A-Level Physics. However, many students hold onto common misconceptions that lead to errors in exams. This article highlights ten frequent misunderstandings and clarifies the correct principles to help you avoid losing marks.

    准确理解物理概念对 CIE A-Level 物理考试的成功至关重要。然而,许多学生抱有一些常见误区,导致考试失分。本文重点分析十个常见误解并澄清正确原理,帮助你避免丢分。

    1. Velocity and Acceleration | 速度与加速度

    Many students incorrectly assume that when an object’s velocity is zero, its acceleration must also be zero. For instance, at the highest point of a vertically projected ball, the velocity is momentarily zero, yet the acceleration remains 9.81 m s⁻² downwards. Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity, given by a = Δv / Δt, so zero velocity does not imply zero acceleration. Another example is uniform circular motion: the speed is constant but the direction keeps changing, meaning there is a centripetal acceleration even though the magnitude of velocity is unchanged.

    2. Newton’s Third Law | 牛顿第三定律

    A widespread error is treating the action–reaction pair as balanced forces that cancel out on the same object. In reality, Newton’s third law states that FAB = –FBA, where the forces act on different bodies. For example, a book resting on a table exerts a downward force on the table; the table exerts an equal and opposite upward force on the book. These two forces act on different objects, so they cannot cancel each other. The book’s equilibrium comes from the gravitational pull and the normal force, both acting on the book.

    3. Mass and Weight | 质量与重量

    It is common for learners to confuse mass with weight. Mass is a measure of an object’s inertia and the amount of matter it contains, measured in kilograms (kg). Weight is the gravitational force acting on that mass, calculated as W = m g, and is measured in newtons (N). The value of gravitational field strength g varies with location; on the Moon, an astronaut’s mass stays the same but her weight becomes roughly one-sixth. Spring balances measure weight, not mass, and their readings would change if taken to the Moon.

    4. Conservation of Momentum | 动量守恒

    Students frequently assume that momentum is conserved in all collisions regardless of external forces. The correct condition is that the net external force on a system must be zero. During a collision, if the time of impact is very short, the impulse from external forces such as friction may be negligible, allowing momentum to be approximately conserved. However, if a significant external force acts, momentum in that direction is not conserved. In a perfectly inelastic collision, kinetic energy is not conserved but momentum is, provided the system is isolated.

    📚 Mastering Application Questions: Tips for OCR A-Level Physics June 2023 Paper 2 | OCR A-Level 物理 2023年6月卷二应用题解题技巧

    The OCR A-Level Physics June 2023 Paper 2 (Exploring Physics) challenges students with a mix of structured questions, data analysis, and extended problem-solving. Many questions are set in unfamiliar contexts, demanding more than simple recall. This guide reveals effective strategies for tackling application questions, focusing on common pitfalls, mathematical rigour, and the clarity of written communication that OCR examiners expect.

    1. Understanding the Structure of Paper 2 | 了解卷二的考题结构

    Paper 2 lasts 2 hours 15 minutes and carries 100 marks. It typically features a ‘stretch and challenge’ long question near the end, alongside shorter multi-step items. In June 2023, many questions wove together two or more syllabus topics, such as combining mechanics with materials or waves with quantum ideas. Recognising these blended areas early helps you retrieve the correct equations and concepts before getting lost in the text.

    Before attempting a question, scan all sub-parts quickly. This reveals the ‘story arc’ and prevents you from misinterpreting a graph or table that a later part will ask you to analyse. Mark allocation is your best clue: a 1-mark question needs a concise fact or a quick calculation, while a 4-mark question expects steps, substitution, and a clear final answer with units.

    2. Translating Scenarios into Physical Models | 将情境转化为物理模型

    Many students lose marks by diving into calculations before visualising the system. Draw a simple labelled diagram, even if the paper provides one. Add arrows for forces, velocity vectors, or current directions. For instance, a question about a crane lifting a girder becomes tractable once you separate the load into tension, weight, and any acceleration component.

    When a situation involves constant acceleration or equilibrium, state the assumption explicitly: ‘Assuming the rope is light and inextensible, tension is uniform.’ This demonstrates grasp of modelling and often features in the mark scheme for ‘quality of written communication’. In the June 2023 paper, a context about a bungee jump required treating the cord as an ideal spring up to a limit – stating that assumption was rewarded.

    3. Mastering Units, Prefixes, and Significant Figures | 掌握单位、词头和有效数字

    OCR examiners routinely penalise missing or incorrect units. In calculation questions, always carry units through your working. Convert all quantities to SI base units before substitution, especially when using equations like p = ρgh or F = BIL. A common trap is using centimetres for length while others are in metres; write conversion factors visibly: 4.0 cm = 4.0 × 10⁻² m.

    The final answer should reflect the least precise data given. If a question provides quantities to 2 significant figures, your answer should be to 2 or 3 s.f. at most. Avoid premature rounding: store intermediate values in your calculator, and only round the final result. Also be alert to prefixes like pico-, nano-, micro-; rewriting them in standard form avoids magnitude errors in resistivity or photon energy calculations.

    4. Interpreting Graphs and Calculating Gradients | 图象解读与斜率计算

    Paper 2 frequently asks you to determine a physical quantity from the slope or area under a graph. When a straight-line graph is plotted, identify which equation of the form y = mx + c applies. For example, if T² is plotted against L for a pendulum, then from T = 2π√(L/g) you get T² = (4π²/g)L, so the gradient is 4π²/g. Clearly show the gradient calculation using a large triangle and state the coordinates used.

    In the June 2023 paper, a data-analysis question gave a curved current–voltage characteristic. Here, you needed to draw a tangent at the specified voltage to find dynamic resistance. Use a ruler and extend the tangent line well beyond the point to improve accuracy. State your result as ΔV/ΔI and convert to an appropriate unit such as Ω. Don’t forget to read axes carefully: if the scale is in mA, convert to A or the resistance will be wrong by a factor of 1000.

    5. Applying Conservation Laws: Collisions and Explosions | 应用守恒定律:碰撞与爆炸

    Momentum and energy conservation questions appeared in Paper 2 June 2023, often set in contexts like air-track gliders or nuclear decay. Always begin by stating the principle: ‘Total momentum before collision equals total momentum after collision, provided no external resultant force acts.’ Then define a positive direction clearly, e.g. ‘→ positive’. Sign errors are the biggest killer here.

    For inelastic collisions, kinetic energy is not conserved; you may be asked to show the loss or to find the coefficient of restitution. Use e = (speed of separation) / (speed of approach) when it applies. In an explosion problem, initial momentum is zero, so final momenta are equal and opposite. Set up vector equations: m₁v₁ + m₂v₂ = 0, then solve for the unknown velocity, paying attention to direction.

    m₁u₁ + m₂u₂ = m₁v₁ + m₂v₂

    Always check the feasibility of your answer: if a lighter ball bounces back with a speed larger than the initial speed of the heavier one, recalculate. Use the kinetic energy formula Eₖ = ½mv² to verify whether energy has decreased, which it must in a realistic inelastic event.

    始终检查答案的合理性:如果一个较轻的球以大于较重球的初速度反弹,请重算。用动能公式 Eₖ = ½mv² 验证能量是否减少,在真实的非弹性过程中能量必然减少。

    6. Circuit Analysis and Potential Dividers | 电路分析与分压器

    OCR frequently probes understanding of potential dividers, thermistors, and LDRs in sensing circuits. In June 2023, a question presented a light-dependent resistor in series with a fixed resistor and asked for output voltage across the fixed resistor as light intensity changed. Remember the key relationship: V_out = V_in × (R_fixed / (R_fixed + R_LDR)). A higher light intensity lowers LDR resistance, so the output voltage changes accordingly.

    OCR经常考查学生对分压器、热敏电阻与光敏电阻在传感电路中的理解。2023年6月试卷中有一道题,将光敏电阻与固定电阻串联,要求求出随着光照强度变化时固定电阻两端的输出电压。记住关键关系式:V_out = V_in × (R_fixed / (R_fixed + R_LDR))。光照增强降低光敏电阻的阻值,因此输出电压随之改变。

    When analysing multi-loop circuits, avoid rushing into complicated Kirchhoff loops. First simplify series and parallel combinations. Calculate total resistance R_total, then total current I = V_total / R_total, and then distribute voltage and current using V = IR. For complex networks, clearly label currents I₁, I₂, I₃ and write loop equations systematically. Annotating the diagram with potential drops in one colour often prevents sign blunders.

    分析多回路电路时,不要急于代入复杂的基尔霍夫环路。先简化串并联组合,计算等效总电阻 R_total,再求总电流 I = V_total / R_total,然后利用 V = IR 分配电压和电流。对于复杂网络,清晰地标注出 I₁、I₂、I₃,并系统地列写回路方程。用一种颜色在图上标注电势降落,往往能避免符号错误。

    7. Wave Interference and Path Difference | 波干涉与程差

    Superposition questions in Paper 2 may include double-slit interference, diffraction gratings, or standing waves in pipes. For constructive interference in a double-slit setup, the condition is d sin θ = nλ. Always convert the angle to radians if using small-angle approximation sin θ ≈ tan θ = x/D, but double-check if the angle is small enough (θ < 10°). In June 2023, a question gave screen distance and fringe spacing; many lost marks by forgetting to measure fringe spacing over several fringes and dividing.

    For path difference problems, distinguish between phase difference and path difference. A path difference of λ corresponds to a phase difference of 2π radians. When waves reflect at a boundary, a phase change of π may occur (e.g. string fixed at an end). Mention this explicitly in your explanation. Drawing wavefronts and numbering nodal lines is always helpful.

    8. Photoelectric Effect and Quantum Calculations | 光电效应与量子计算

    Questions on photon interactions require the equation E = hf = hc/λ and the photoelectric equation Eₖ(max) = hf – φ, where φ is the work function. A typical June 2023 problem gave a threshold frequency and asked for the maximum kinetic energy of emitted electrons at a different wavelength. Always convert work function from eV to joules (× 1.60 × 10⁻¹⁹) if your other quantities are in SI.

    Graphical analysis appears too: a graph of Eₖ(max) against frequency has slope h and intercept –φ. In a June 2023 question, students had to read the threshold frequency from the intercept on the x-axis and verify Planck’s constant from the gradient. Use a clear formula: slope = ΔEₖ / Δf, and show the unit conversion to J·s. Also note that below the threshold frequency, no electrons are emitted regardless of intensity – a key concept distinguishing quantum from classical behaviour.

    9. Experimental Techniques and Uncertainty Analysis | 实验技巧与不确定度分析

    Paper 2 often evaluates practical skills through written questions. You might be asked to suggest improvements to an experiment, identify sources of systematic and random error, or calculate percentage uncertainty. A June 2023 item required calculating the uncertainty in a density determination from measurements of mass and diameter. The rule is: for quantities multiplied or divided, add percentage uncertainties.

    When a value is raised to a power, multiply the percentage uncertainty by that power. For a sphere’s volume V = 4/3 π r³, the percentage uncertainty in V is 3 times the percentage uncertainty in r. Always show your working: determine absolute uncertainty first from instrument precision or range, then divide by the measured value, multiply by 100% for percentage uncertainty, and combine as needed. If a question asks for an absolute uncertainty in a final result, convert back at the end.

    10. Time Management and Common Pitfalls | 时间管理与常见陷阱

    With 100 marks in 135 minutes, aim for about 1.3 minutes per mark, leaving some time for checking. Start with the short questions to build confidence, then tackle the long contexts. In June 2023, some candidates spent too long on a 6-mark ‘show that’ question, leaving insufficient time for the final data analysis. If a derivation isn’t flowing, move on and return later.

    Common pitfalls include: not answering the exact question asked (e.g. ‘explain’ requires reasoning, not just a statement), leaving numerical answers as improper fractions instead of decimals to an appropriate s.f., and omitting direction in vector answers. Finally, legibility matters. If an examiner cannot read your final answer, they cannot award marks, even if the working above is correct. Underline or box your final answers, and ensure units are visible.

    📚 AS Physics Unit 4 Insert June 2019 Experiment Investigation | AS 物理 Unit 4 2019年6月插页实验探究

    The June 2019 Insert for Edexcel AS Physics Unit 4 (Waves and Our Universe) provided a detailed description of an experiment to determine the speed of sound in air using a resonance tube. This investigation is a classic demonstration of stationary waves in a closed pipe and requires careful measurement, clear understanding of wave theory, and rigorous analysis of uncertainties. This article unpacks every aspect of that insert-based experiment, guiding you through the equipment, procedure, theory, and common pitfalls so you can master the practical skills and answer related exam questions with confidence.

    1. Experimental Context | 实验背景

    The resonance tube experiment exploits the formation of stationary waves in a column of air closed at one end. When a vibrating tuning fork is held above the open end, the sound wave reflects from the water surface, and at certain tube lengths the incident and reflected waves superpose to produce a loud resonance. By measuring the difference in tube lengths for consecutive resonances, the wavelength of sound can be found, and using a known frequency the speed of sound is calculated. This practical is a direct application of the Unit 4 topic on stationary waves and is frequently assessed for data analysis, graph plotting, and uncertainty evaluation.

    2. Equipment List | 设备清单

    The insert specified the following apparatus:

    插页列出了以下仪器:

    • Resonance tube (graduated, approx. 1 m long) with a movable reservoir or adjustable water level – 带刻度的共振管(约1米长)和可移动的水箱或可调水位
    • Tuning fork of known frequency (e.g. 480 Hz or 512 Hz) – 已知频率的音叉(如480 Hz或512 Hz)
    • Rubber pad or mallet for striking the fork – 用于敲击音叉的橡胶垫或木槌
    • Metre rule or built‑in scale on the tube – 米尺或管身自带刻度
    • Thermometer (to record room temperature) – 温度计(记录室温)
    • Clamp and stand to hold the tube vertically – 铁架台和夹子,垂直固定管子
    • Water and a beaker or reservoir to adjust the water level slowly – 水以及烧杯或水箱,用于缓慢调节水位

    Only basic lab equipment is required, making this a common but highly examinable practical.

    只需基础实验设备,因此这是一个常见但高频考查的实验。

    3. Experimental Setup | 实验装置

    Clamp the resonance tube vertically so that its lower end is connected via a flexible tube to a water reservoir that can be raised or lowered. Fill the tube partially with water so the air column length can be varied by moving the reservoir. Place the tuning fork just above the open end of the tube, ensuring it does not touch the glass. The setup must allow slow, continuous adjustment of the water level to pinpoint the exact column length at which resonance occurs.

    4. Procedure Step‑by‑Step | 实验步骤

    Step 1: Strike the tuning fork gently on the rubber pad and hold it horizontally about 1 cm above the open end of the tube.

    步骤1:轻敲音叉使其振动,将其水平置于管口上方约1 cm处。

    Step 2: Slowly lower the water level by moving the reservoir downward while listening for a sudden increase in loudness. The first resonance will occur when the air column length L₁ is approximately one‑quarter of the wavelength.

    步骤2:缓慢降低水位(向下移动水箱),同时仔细听声音的突然增强。第一次共振发生时,空气柱长度L₁约等于波长的四分之一。

    Step 3: Measure and record the length L₁ from the top of the tube to the water meniscus. Use the built‑in scale and a magnifying glass if necessary to avoid parallax error.

    步骤3:测量并记录从管口到水面弯月面的长度L₁。使用自带刻度,必要时借助放大镜避免视差。

    Step 4: Continue lowering the water level to find the second resonance at L₂ (approximately 3λ/4) and the third resonance at L₃ (5λ/4), if the tube is long enough. Each resonance should be verified by oscillating the water level up and down to ensure the loudest point is captured.

    步骤4:继续下降水位找到第二次共振(约3λ/4)的L₂,如果管足够长还可找到第三次共振(5λ/4)的L₃。每次共振都应通过上下微调水位来确认最响点。

    5. Data Collection | 数据收集

    Record the air column lengths L₁, L₂, L₃ in metres to the nearest millimetre. Note the frequency f of the tuning fork (e.g. 480 Hz). Also record the ambient temperature, as the speed of sound varies with temperature. It is good practice to repeat each measurement at least three times and calculate a mean to reduce random error. A sample table from the insert may look like this:

    记录各次共振的空气柱长度L₁、L₂、L₃,以米为单位精确到毫米。记录音叉频率f(如480 Hz)。同时记录环境温度,因为声速随温度变化。最好对每个长度至少重复测量三次并计算平均值以减小随机误差。插页中的典型表格如下:

    Resonance L / m (trial 1) L / m (trial 2) L / m (trial 3) Mean L / m
    1st (L₁) 0.178 0.179 0.177 0.178
    2nd (L₂) 0.543 0.544 0.542 0.543

    From the means, the half‑wavelength distance (L₂ − L₁) can be determined with its absolute uncertainty.

    根据平均值可确定半波长间距(L₂ − L₁)及其绝对不确定度。

    6. Theory and Calculations | 理论与计算

    For a tube closed at one end, the closed end is a displacement node and the open end is an antinode. The first resonance occurs when the air column length satisfies L₁ + c = λ/4, where c is an end correction (approximately 0.3d for a tube of diameter d). The second resonance satisfies L₂ + c = 3λ/4. Subtracting the two equations eliminates the end correction:

    对于一端封闭的管子,封闭端为位移波节,开口端为波腹。第一次共振时气柱长度满足 L₁ + c = λ/4,其中c为管口修正值(约为0.3d,d为管直径)。第二次共振满足 L₂ + c = 3λ/4。两式相减消去修正项:

    L₂ − L₁ = λ/2

    Hence the wavelength is:

    因此波长为:

    λ = 2(L₂ − L₁)

    Once λ is known, the speed of sound v is calculated using the wave equation:

    求得λ后,利用波动方程计算声速v:

    v = f × λ

    If a third resonance L₃ is measured, the difference (L₃ − L₁) = λ can also be used to improve precision. In the insert, students were expected to derive these relationships and use a graphical method to find λ.

    如果测量了第三次共振L₃,也可通过 (L₃ − L₁) = λ 来提高精度。在插页中,学生需要推导这些关系并用图形法求出λ。

    7. Graphical Analysis | 图形分析

    The insert guided candidates to plot a graph of resonance length L on the y‑axis against resonance order number n (where n = 1, 3, 5…) on the x‑axis. The gradient of the line of best fit gives λ/4, because the theoretical relationship is L + c = nλ/4. Hence:

    插页引导考生绘制共振长度L(y轴)对共振序数n(x轴,n = 1, 3, 5…)的图形。最佳拟合线的斜率等于 λ/4,因为理论关系为 L + c = nλ/4。因此:

    λ = 4 × gradient

    The y‑intercept can be used to estimate the end correction c, though this is not required for the speed calculation. Plotting multiple points reduces the effect of random errors and allows uncertainty in λ to be found from the maximum and minimum gradient lines.

    截距可用于估算管口修正值c,但声速计算不需要它。绘制多个数据点可减小随机误差的影响,并利用最大和最小斜率线求出λ的不确定度。

    8. Sources of Uncertainty | 误差来源

    Several uncertainties affect this experiment. The main random errors come from judging the exact point of maximum loudness and reading the meniscus with a fixed scale. A systematic error arises if the tuning fork frequency is not exactly the nominal value (e.g. due to temperature or damage). Parallax error when measuring the air column can be avoided by eye‑level reading. The end correction itself introduces a small systematic shift, but it cancels out when differences are taken. Also, the assumption that the open end is a perfect antinode is approximate; the node is slightly outside the tube, leading to an overestimation of the column length if uncorrected.

    多种不确定度会影响本实验。主要随机误差来自判断最大响度点和用固定刻度读取弯月面。如果音叉频率并非标称值(如因温度或损坏),将产生系统误差。测量气柱长度时的视差可通过平视读数避免。管口修正本身会引入一个小的系统偏移,但取差值时抵消了。此外,假定开口端为完美波腹是近似的,实际上波节在管口稍外,若不修正会高估气柱长度。

    To quantify uncertainty, the half‑range of repeated measurements can be used. The absolute uncertainty in λ is twice the uncertainty in (L₂ − L₁). The percentage uncertainty in v is the sum of the percentage uncertainties in f and λ.

    为量化不确定度,可使用重复测量的半量程。λ的绝对不确定度为 (L₂ − L₁) 不确定度的两倍。v的百分不确定度是f和λ的百分不确定度之和。

    9. Improvements and Safety | 改进与安全

    Common improvements suggested in the insert mark scheme include: using a tuning fork of higher frequency (shorter wavelength) so more resonances can be observed within the tube length; using a set of tuning forks to obtain multiple independent values of v; and employing a microphone and oscilloscope to detect the resonance precisely by measuring the amplitude of the signal. Safety precautions are minimal, but care should be taken to avoid striking the tuning fork on hard surfaces (which can damage it) and to keep water away from electrical equipment if electronic sensors are used.

    插页评分方案中常见的改进建议包括:使用更高频率的音叉(波长更短)以便在管长内观察到更多次共振;使用一组音叉获得多个独立的声速值;使用麦克风和示波器通过测量信号幅度来精准检测共振。安全预防措施不多,但需注意避免在硬物上敲击音叉(以防损坏),若使用电子传感器则须防水。

    10. Conclusion and Exam Tips | 结论与考试技巧

    The resonance tube experiment from the June 2019 Unit 4 insert is an elegant demonstration of stationary waves and provides a reliable method to determine the speed of sound. When answering exam questions on this practical, always refer to the specific steps shown in the insert, use correct terminology (node, antinode, end correction), and be prepared to calculate percentage differences between experimental and accepted values (e.g. 343 m s⁻¹ at 20 °C). Show clearly how you combine uncertainties and explain why certain procedures minimise error. Practising with past inserts will make these skills second nature.

    2019年6月Unit 4插页中的共振管实验是对驻波的优雅演示,并提供了一种测定声速的可靠方法。在回答有关该实验的考题时,务必引用插页所示的具体步骤,使用正确的术语(波节、波腹、管口修正),并随时准备计算实验值与公认值(20 °C时343 m s⁻¹)之间的百分差异。清晰地展示如何合成不确定度,并解释某些操作为何能减小误差。通过练习历年插页,这些技巧将变得得心应手。

    📚 A-Level Physics Unit 4 Insert (January 2020) Key Concepts Explained | A-Level 物理 Unit 4(2020 年 1 月)插入页核心概念解析

    The January 2020 A-Level Physics Unit 4 examination insert is more than just a data sheet – it is a gateway to understanding the fundamental constants, formulas, and relationships that underpin further mechanics, fields, and nuclear physics. This insert typically includes values such as the gravitational constant G, the elementary charge e, the Planck constant h, and key formulas for centripetal force, electric field strength, and radioactive decay. By exploring each concept behind these entries, students can deepen their grasp of the physics and learn how to apply the data effectively in problem-solving. This article unpacks the core ideas that the Unit 4 insert represents, pairing conceptual explanations with the constants and equations you might find on that essential page.

    2020 年 1 月的 A-Level 物理 Unit 4 考试插入页不仅是数据表,更是深入理解进阶力学、场论与核物理中基本常量、公式和关系的门户。该插入页通常提供引力常数 G、基本电荷 e、普朗克常数 h 以及向心力、电场强度和放射性衰变等重要公式。通过探索每一项背后的概念,学生能够加深对物理学的理解,并学会如何有效运用数据解题。本文将剖析 Unit 4 插入页所代表的核心思想,将概念解释与你在那张关键页上见到的常量和方程相结合。

    1. Constants and Data in the Insert | 插入页中的常数与数据

    The insert provides foundational constants such as the gravitational constant G = 6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ N m² kg⁻², the elementary charge e = 1.60 × 10⁻¹⁹ C, and the Planck constant h = 6.63 × 10⁻³⁴ J s. These numbers are not arbitrary; they calibrate the scale of gravitational, electromagnetic, and quantum phenomena. Knowing them by heart is unnecessary because the insert gives them, but recognising their physical meaning is crucial: G quantifies the weakness of gravity, e sets the quantum of electric charge, and h links photon energy to frequency.

    插入页提供了基础常量,如引力常数 G = 6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ N m² kg⁻²、基本电荷 e = 1.60 × 10⁻¹⁹ C 以及普朗克常数 h = 6.63 × 10⁻³⁴ J s。这些数值并非任意设定,它们标定了引力、电磁和量子现象的尺度。因为插入页已提供,无需死记,但认识其物理意义至关重要:G 量化了引力的微弱,e 设定了电荷的量子单位,而 h 将光子能量与频率联系起来。

    Additionally, the insert often includes the permittivity of free space ε₀ = 8.85 × 10⁻¹² F m⁻¹, the electronvolt (1 eV = 1.60 × 10⁻¹⁹ J), and the unified atomic mass unit u = 1.66 × 10⁻²⁷ kg. These enable conversions and simplify calculations in electric fields, particle physics, and nuclear binding energy. For instance, the electronvolt is the energy gained by an electron accelerated through a potential difference of 1 V, and it is the natural unit for atomic processes.

    此外,插入页通常还包含真空介电常数 ε₀ = 8.85 × 10⁻¹² F m⁻¹、电子伏特(1 eV = 1.60 × 10⁻¹⁹ J)以及原子质量单位 u = 1.66 × 10⁻²⁷ kg。它们便于进行单位转换,并能简化电场、粒子物理和核结合能的计算。例如,电子伏特是电子经 1 伏电势差加速后获得的能量,是原子过程的自然单位。

    2. Circular Motion: Centripetal Force and Acceleration | 圆周运动:向心力与向心加速度

    The insert lists the centripetal acceleration formula a = v²/r and its angular equivalent a = ω²r, where v is linear speed, ω is angular speed, and r is the radius of the circle. These expressions show that acceleration is always directed towards the centre of the circle, even though the speed might be constant: the velocity vector is continuously changing direction. The resulting centripetal force F = mv²/r = mω²r is the net force required to maintain circular motion; it is not a new type of force but the resultant of real forces such as tension, gravity, or friction.

    插入页列出了向心加速度公式 a = v²/r 及其角速度形式 a = ω²r,其中 v 为线速度,ω 为角速度,r 为圆周半径。这些表达式表明,即使速率恒定,加速度也始终指向圆心:速度矢量在持续改变方向。由此产生的向心力 F = mv²/r = mω²r 是维持圆周运动所需的合力;它不是一种新型力,而是由真实作用力——如张力、重力或摩擦力——合成的结果。

    When solving problems, students often use the relationship v = ωr to switch between angular and linear descriptions. A classic example is a car rounding a banked track: the horizontal component of the normal force provides the centripetal force, and the insert’s formulas enable you to calculate safe speeds. Remember that if the centripetal force suddenly vanishes, the object will fly off tangentially, following Newton’s first law.

    解题时,学生常利用 v = ωr 在角量和线量之间转换。一个典型例子是汽车在倾斜弯道上行驶:法向力的水平分量提供向心力,借助插入页的公式可计算安全速度。需牢记,若向心力突然消失,物体将沿切线飞出,遵循牛顿第一定律。

    3. Gravitational Fields: Newton’s Law and Kepler’s Laws | 引力场:牛顿定律与开普勒定律

    Newton’s law of gravitation, F = Gm₁m₂/r², appears on the insert and describes the attractive force between two point masses. The constant G is tiny, so gravitational forces only become noticeable when at least one mass is astronomical. The concept of gravitational field strength g = F/m leads to the formula g = GM/r² for a radial field around a mass M. This is the acceleration due to gravity at a distance r from the planet’s centre, explaining why g decreases with altitude.

    牛顿万有引力定律 F = Gm₁m₂/r² 出现在插入页上,描述了两个质点间的吸引力。常数 G 极小,因此只有至少一个质量为天文学尺度时引力才明显。由引力场强度 g = F/m 可导出径向场公式 g = GM/r²,这是距行星中心 r 处的重力加速度,解释了 g 随海拔升高而减小的原因。

    Kepler’s third law for circular orbits, T² ∝ r³, can be derived by equating gravitational force to centripetal force. The insert may provide the relationship T² = (4π²/GM)r³, which allows calculation of planetary masses from orbital data. Geostationary satellites, for example, occupy an orbit where their period matches Earth’s rotation, and the insert helps determine the required radius.

    圆周轨道下的开普勒第三定律 T² ∝ r³ 可通过令引力等于向心力推导得出。插入页可能给出关系式 T² = (4π²/GM)r³,据此可从轨道数据计算行星质量。例如,地球同步卫星的轨道周期与地球自转一致,借助插入页可确定所需轨道半径。

    4. Electric Fields: Coulomb’s Law and Uniform Fields | 电场:库仑定律与匀强电场

    Coulomb’s law, F = kQ₁Q₂/r² with k = 1/(4πε₀), mirrors the structure of gravitation but acts between charges. The electric field strength E is defined as force per unit positive charge, E = F/q, and for a point charge E = Q/(4πε₀r²). These formulas, printed on the insert, are essential for analysing the forces on charged particles in fields, such as in cathode-ray tubes or particle accelerators.

    库仑定律 F = kQ₁Q₂/r²,其中 k = 1/(4πε₀),在结构上类似引力,但作用于电荷间。电场强度 E 定义为单位正电荷所受的力,E = F/q,对于点电荷有 E = Q/(4πε₀r²)。这些印在插入页的公式对于分析阴极射线管或粒子加速器中带电粒子在电场中的受力至关重要。

    A uniform electric field between parallel plates is given by E = V/d, where V is the potential difference and d is the plate separation. The insert reminds you that the work done in moving a charge q through a potential difference V is W = qV, and this connects directly to the electronvolt energy unit. When a charged particle enters a uniform field perpendicularly, parabolic motion results, analogous to projectile motion under gravity.

    平行板间的匀强电场表示为 E = V/d,其中 V 为电势差,d 为板间距。插入页提示,将电荷 q 移动经过电势差 V 所做的功为 W = qV,这直接联系到电子伏特能量单位。当带电粒子垂直进入匀强电场时,将产生抛物线运动,类似于重力场中的抛体运动。

    5. Capacitors: Capacitance, Energy, and Time Constant | 电容器:电容、能量与时间常数

    The insert defines capacitance as C = Q/V, the charge stored per unit potential difference. For a parallel-plate capacitor, C = ε₀A/d, where A is plate area and d is separation. The energy stored in a capacitor is given by W = ½QV = ½CV² = ½Q²/C. These relationships help explain how capacitors smooth rectified AC or deliver brief high-current pulses in circuits.

    插入页将电容定义为 C = Q/V,即单位电势差下储存的电荷。对于平行板电容器,C = ε₀A/d,其中 A 为板面积,d 为板间距。电容器储存的能量由 W = ½QV = ½CV² = ½Q²/C 给出。这些关系式有助于理解电容器如何平滑整流交流电或在电路中提供短暂大电流脉冲。

    When a capacitor discharges through a resistor, the charge, voltage, and current decay exponentially. The insert typically provides the time constant τ = RC, which is the time for the voltage to fall to 37% of its initial value. The equations Q = Q₀e⁻t/RC and V = V₀e⁻t/RC are key to analysing timing circuits and flash units. Understanding the exponential decay model is also foundational for radioactive decay later.

    电容器通过电阻放电时,电荷、电压及电流均呈指数衰减。插入页通常给出时间常数 τ = RC,即电压降至初始值 37% 所需的时间。方程 Q = Q₀e⁻t/RC 和 V = V₀e⁻t/RC 是分析计时电路和闪光灯装置的关键。理解指数衰减模型也为后续学习放射性衰变奠定基础。

    6. Magnetic Fields: Force on a Moving Charge | 磁场:运动电荷受力

    The insert includes the formula for the magnetic force on a moving charge: F = BQv sinθ, where B is the magnetic flux density, Q is the charge, v is speed, and θ is the angle between velocity and field. When θ = 90°, the force is maximum and acts perpendicular to both velocity and field, providing the centripetal force for circular motion. This principle is behind cyclotrons and mass spectrometers.

    插入页提供了运动电荷在磁场中所受磁力的公式:F = BQv sinθ,其中 B 为磁通量密度,Q 为电荷,v 为速度,θ 为速度与磁场间的夹角。当 θ = 90° 时,力达到最大,且同时垂直于速度与磁场,为圆周运动提供向心力。回旋加速器和质谱仪正是基于这一原理。

    For a current-carrying conductor of length L, the force becomes F = BIL sinθ. This formula is used in loudspeakers and electric motors. The direction of the force is given by Fleming’s left-hand rule. The insert also often lists the magnetic flux density unit: the tesla (T), where 1 T = 1 N A⁻¹ m⁻¹, helping students check dimensional consistency.

    对长为 L 的载流导体,磁力变为 F = BIL sinθ。扬声器和电动机中就用到了这一公式。力的方向由弗莱明左手定则确定。插入页还常列出磁通量密度的单位特斯拉(T),1 T = 1 N A⁻¹ m⁻¹,帮助学生核对量纲一致性。

    7. Electromagnetic Induction: Flux and Faraday’s Law | 电磁感应:磁通量与法拉第定律

    Magnetic flux Φ = BA cosθ, where θ is the angle between the field and the normal to the area, is a concept often listed in the insert. Faraday’s law states that the induced emf is equal to the rate of change of flux linkage: ε = -N(ΔΦ/Δt). The negative sign reflects Lenz’s law, which states that the induced current opposes the change in flux that produced it. This opposition is a direct consequence of energy conservation.

    磁通量 Φ = BA cosθ,其中 θ 为磁场与面积法线间的夹角,该概念常出现在插入页。法拉第电磁感应定律指出,感应电动势等于磁链的变化率:ε = -N(ΔΦ/Δt)。负号体现了楞次定律,即感应电流的方向总是阻碍引起感应电流的磁通量变化,这直接源自能量守恒。

    The insert may provide the rms value relationships: Vrms = V₀/√2 and Irms = I₀/√2 for sinusoidal AC. Generators and transformers rely on electromagnetic induction, and the ratio of secondary to primary voltages is given by Vs/Vp = Ns/Np. Understanding flux and its rate of change allows students to analyse peak emf, AC waveforms, and power transmission efficiency.

    插入页可能提供正弦交流电的有效值关系:Vrms = V₀/√2 与 Irms = I₀/√2。发电机和变压器依赖于电磁感应,副原边电压比由 Vs/Vp = Ns/Np 给出。理解磁通量及其变化率使学生能分析峰值电动势、交流波形和输电效率。

    8. Radioactive Decay: Activity and Half-life | 放射性衰变:活度与半衰期

    The insert provides the exponential decay law: N = N₀e⁻λt, where N is the number of undecayed nuclei, N₀ is the initial number, and λ is the decay constant. Activity A = λN, measured in becquerels (Bq), is the number of decays per second. The half-life T₁/₂ is given by T₁/₂ = ln(2)/λ. This links directly to the time constant analogy with capacitors; both share the same mathematical form.

    插入页给出了指数衰变律:N = N₀e⁻λt,其中 N 为未衰变核数,N₀ 为初始核数,λ 为衰变常量。活度 A = λN,单位为贝克勒尔(Bq),表示每秒衰变次数。半衰期 T₁/₂ 由 T₁/₂ = ln(2)/λ 给出。这与电容器的时间常数直接类比,两者数学形式相同。

    Students must be able to use the logarithmic form ln(N/N₀) = -λt and determine half-life from an activity–time graph. The concept of radioactive dating, such as carbon-14 dating, uses the half-life of a radioisotope to estimate the age of organic materials. The insert typically provides the atomic mass unit u, which becomes essential when calculating mass defects and energy release in the next section.

    学生需能运用对数形式 ln(N/N₀) = -λt 并从活度-时间图确定半衰期。放射性年代测定,如碳-14 测年,利用放射性同位素的半衰期估算有机材料年龄。插入页通常提供原子质量单位 u,这在下一节计算质量亏损和释放能量时至关重要。

    9. Nuclear Energy: Mass Defect and Binding Energy | 核能:质量亏损与结合能

    The insert’s inclusion of the atomic mass unit u and the equivalence 1 u = 1.66 × 10⁻²⁷ kg = 931.5 MeV/c² points directly to mass–energy equivalence via E = mc². The mass defect is the difference between the mass of a nucleus and the sum of its individual nucleons. This missing mass is converted into binding energy, which holds the nucleus together. The binding energy per nucleon is a measure of nuclear stability, peaking around iron.

    插入页包含原子质量单位 u 及其等价关系 1 u = 1.66 × 10⁻²⁷ kg = 931.5 MeV/c²,直接指向质能方程 E = mc²。质量亏损是原子核质量与其单个核子质量总和之差。这“缺失”的质量转化为结合能,将核子维系在一起。每个核子的结合能是核稳定性的量度,在铁附近达到峰值。

    In fission and fusion reactions, the energy released can be calculated by finding the mass difference between reactants and products and applying ΔE = Δm c². The insert often provides the mass of common particles, such as the proton, neutron, and electron, in atomic mass units. Mastery of these data enables quantitative analysis of nuclear power and stellar processes, consolidating the link between electrostatics, particle physics, and energy.

    在裂变和聚变反应中,释放的能量可通过计算反应物与产物的质量差,并应用 ΔE = Δm c² 求得。插入页常提供质子、中子和电子等常见粒子的原子质量单位质量。掌握这些数据能对核能和恒星过程进行定量分析,巩固静电学、粒子物理与能量之间的联系。

    10. Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) Basics | 简谐运动基础

    SHM appears on the Unit 4 insert through its defining relationships: a = -ω²x, where a is acceleration, ω is angular frequency, and x is displacement. This tells us that the acceleration is proportional to displacement and always directed towards the equilibrium position. The period of a mass–spring system T = 2π√(m/k) and a simple pendulum T = 2π√(l/g) are often provided, enabling practical timing calculations.

    简谐运动通过其定义关系式 a = -ω²x 呈现在 Unit 4 插入页中,其中 a 为加速度,ω 为角频率,x 为位移。这表明加速度与位移成正比且始终指向平衡位置。弹簧振子周期 T = 2π√(m/k) 和单摆周期 T = 2π√(l/g) 常被给出,便于实际计时计算。

    The maximum speed in SHM is vₘₐₓ = ωA, where A is amplitude, and maximum acceleration is aₘₐₓ = ω²A. Energy in SHM fluctuates between kinetic and potential, with total energy E = ½mω²A². These formulas, found on the insert, are linked to the exponential decay of damped oscillations when friction is present, a topic that bridges mechanics and wave physics.

    简谐运动的最大速度 vₘₐₓ = ωA,其中 A 为振幅,最大加速度 aₘₐₓ = ω²A。简谐运动中的能量在动能与势能间波动,总能量 E = ½mω²A²。插入页上这些公式在有摩擦的阻尼振荡中与指数衰减相关联,成为衔接力学与波动物理的桥梁。

    The study of cosmology explores the origin, evolution, and ultimate fate of the universe. For IB and OCR A Level Physics students, mastering key topics such as Hubble’s law, the cosmic microwave background, and the evidence for dark energy is essential for examinations. This guide breaks down the core ideas into concise paired explanations, blending conceptual understanding with quantitative reasoning.

    宇宙学研究宇宙的起源、演化和最终命运。对于 IB 和 OCR A Level 物理学生来说,掌握哈勃定律、宇宙微波背景辐射和暗能量证据等关键主题对考试至关重要。本指南将核心概念分解为简洁的配对解释,融合概念理解和定量推理。

    1. Hubble’s Law and the Expanding Universe | 哈勃定律与膨胀的宇宙

    Hubble’s law states that the recessional velocity v of a galaxy is directly proportional to its distance d from us: v = H₀ d, where H₀ is the Hubble constant. This linear relationship indicates that the universe is expanding uniformly.

    哈勃定律指出,星系的退行速度 v 与其到我们的距离 d 成正比:v = H₀ d,其中 H₀ 是哈勃常数。这种线性关系表明宇宙正在均匀膨胀。

    The Hubble constant is typically expressed in km s⁻¹ Mpc⁻¹, with a current accepted value around 70 km s⁻¹ Mpc⁻¹. Taking the reciprocal 1/H₀ yields an approximate age of the universe of about 13.8 billion years, assuming a constant expansion rate.

    哈勃常数通常以 km s⁻¹ Mpc⁻¹ 表示,目前公认值约为 70 km s⁻¹ Mpc⁻¹。取倒数 1/H₀ 可以得到宇宙的近似年龄,假设膨胀速率恒定,约为 138 亿年。

    Cosmological redshift z is defined as z = Δλ/λ₀, where λ₀ is the rest wavelength. For nearby galaxies (low speeds), z ≈ v/c. The redshift tells us how much the universe has expanded since light was emitted, linked to the scale factor a(t) by 1+z = a(t₀)/a(t).

    宇宙学红移 z 定义为 z = Δλ/λ₀,其中 λ₀ 是静止波长。对于邻近星系(低速),z ≈ v/c。红移告诉我们自光发射以来宇宙膨胀了多少,与尺度因子 a(t) 的关系为 1+z = a(t₀)/a(t)。

    2. The Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) | 宇宙微波背景辐射

    The CMB is the relic radiation from the early universe, discovered by Penzias and Wilson in 1965. It has a nearly perfect blackbody spectrum at a temperature of approximately 2.73 K. The CMB provides strong evidence for the Big Bang model.

    CMB 是早期宇宙的残余辐射,由彭齐亚斯和威尔逊于 1965 年发现。它具有近乎完美的黑体谱,温度约为 2.73 K。CMB 为大爆炸模型提供了有力证据。

    The tiny temperature fluctuations (anisotropies) in the CMB map correspond to primordial density perturbations that seeded galaxy formation. The peak observed at an angular scale of about 1 degree confirms the universe is spatially flat.

    CMB 图中微小的温度波动(各向异性)对应于原初密度扰动,这些扰动催生了星系形成。在约 1 度角尺度上观测到的峰值证实宇宙在空间上是平坦的。

    The CMB was emitted when the universe cooled enough for electrons and protons to combine into neutral hydrogen (recombination), at a temperature of about 3000 K. Since then, the expansion has stretched the radiation by a factor of roughly 1100, cooling it to the microwave region.

    CMB 是在宇宙冷却到电子和质子结合成中性氢(复合)时发射的,当时温度约 3000 K。从那时起,宇宙膨胀将辐射拉伸了约 1100 倍,使其冷却到微波波段。

    3. Evidence for the Big Bang | 大爆炸的证据

    The three primary observational pillars of the Big Bang theory are: (1) the recession of galaxies (Hubble’s law), (2) the cosmic microwave background radiation, and (3) the relative abundances of light elements (primordial nucleosynthesis).

    大爆炸理论的三个主要观测支柱是:(1)星系的退行(哈勃定律),(2)宇宙微波背景辐射,以及(3)轻元素的相对丰度(原初核合成)。

    Primordial nucleosynthesis predicts that roughly 25% of the mass of ordinary matter should be helium-4, with small amounts of deuterium, helium-3, and lithium. Observations of old stars and gas clouds match these predictions.

    原初核合成预测普通物质质量的约 25% 应为氦-4,还有少量的氘、氦-3 和锂。对老年恒星和气体云的观测与这些预测相符。

    The expansion of the universe implies that in the past, all matter and energy were concentrated in an extremely hot, dense state. Essentially, tracing back galaxy motions leads to a singularity – the Big Bang.

    宇宙膨胀意味着在过去,所有物质和能量都集中在极其炽热致密的状态。本质上,追溯星系运动会导致一个奇点——大爆炸。

    4. Dark Matter and Galactic Rotation Curves | 暗物质与星系旋转曲线

    Observations of spiral galaxies show that the orbital speed of stars remains roughly constant, or even rises, at large distances from the galactic centre, instead of decreasing as predicted by Newtonian gravity from visible matter. This discrepancy implies the presence of a large, invisible mass component known as dark matter.

    对旋涡星系的观测表明,恒星在离星系中心很远处的轨道速度大致保持恒定甚至上升,而不是像仅由可见物质预言的牛顿引力那样下降。这种差异意味着存在大量不可见的质量成分,即暗物质。

    Dark matter does not emit, absorb, or reflect electromagnetic radiation, but its gravitational effects are evident in galaxy clusters and gravitational lensing. Candidates include WIMPs (Weakly Interacting Massive Particles) and axions.

    暗物质不发射、吸收或反射电磁辐射,但其引力效应在星系团和引力透镜中显而易见。候选粒子包括 WIMPs(弱相互作用大质量粒子)和轴子。

    Evidence from the Bullet Cluster, where the mass distribution (from gravitational lensing) is separated from the hot gas, strongly supports the existence of non-baryonic dark matter.

    子弹星系团的证据中,质量分布(来自引力透镜)与热气体分离,有力地支持了非重子暗物质的存在。

    5. Dark Energy and the Accelerating Universe | 暗能量与加速宇宙

    In the late 1990s, observations of Type Ia supernovae revealed that the expansion of the universe is accelerating. This acceleration requires a mysterious repulsive force termed dark energy, which makes up about 68% of the total energy density of the universe.

    1990 年代末,对 Ia 型超新星的观测揭示宇宙的膨胀正在加速。这种加速需要一种神秘的斥力,称为暗能量,它约占宇宙总能量密度的 68%。

    Dark energy is often associated with the cosmological constant Λ in Einstein’s field equations. It can be thought of as the energy of the vacuum itself, driving galaxies apart at an ever-increasing rate.

    暗能量通常与爱因斯坦场方程中的宇宙学常数 Λ 相关联。它可以看作是真空本身的能量,驱使星系以不断加快的速度相互远离。

    The equation of state parameter w = p/ρ for dark energy is close to −1, consistent with a cosmological constant. The discovery of acceleration earned the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics.

    暗能量的状态方程参数 w = p/ρ 接近 −1,与宇宙学常数一致。加速膨胀的发现获得了 2011 年诺贝尔物理学奖。

    6. Redshift, Scale Factor, and the Hubble Law Details | 红移、尺度因子与哈勃定律详解

    The Hubble constant measures the current rate of expansion: H₀ ≈ 70 km s⁻¹ Mpc⁻¹. A galaxy at a distance of 100 Mpc recedes at approximately 7000 km s⁻¹. The linear relationship v = H₀ d is valid for relatively small redshifts (z ≲ 0.1).

    哈勃常数测量当前膨胀速率:H₀ ≈ 70 km s⁻¹ Mpc⁻¹。距离 100 Mpc 的星系以约 7000 km s⁻¹ 的速度退行。线性关系 v = H₀ d 适用于相对较小的红移(z ≲ 0.1)。

    For larger redshifts, relativistic corrections become important. The cosmological redshift is a stretching of space itself, not a Doppler shift in the usual sense. The formula 1+z = a(t₀)/a(tₑ) describes how the scale factor has changed from emission tₑ to observation t₀.

    对于较大的红移,相对论修正变得重要。宇宙学红移是空间本身的拉伸,而非通常意义上的多普勒频移。公式 1+z = a(t₀)/a(tₑ) 描述了从发射时刻 tₑ 到观测时刻 t₀ 尺度因子的变化。

    7. The Age and Size of the Observable Universe | 可观测宇宙的年龄与大小

    Using the Hubble constant, we can estimate the Hubble time t_H = 1/H₀ ≈ 14 billion years. More precise calculations incorporating the effects of dark energy and dark matter yield an age of about 13.8 × 10⁹ years.

    利用哈勃常数,我们可以估算哈勃时间 t_H = 1/H₀ ≈ 140 亿年。结合暗能量和暗物质的影响进行更精确的计算,得出年龄约为 13.8 × 10⁹ 年。

    The observable universe extends to a comoving distance of roughly 46 billion light-years, corresponding to the furthest light that has had time to reach us since the Big Bang. The particle horizon is the boundary of the observable universe.

    可观测宇宙延伸到约 460 亿光年的共动距离,对应于自大爆炸以来有足够时间到达我们的最远光线。粒子视界就是可观测宇宙的边界。

    8. The CMB Power Spectrum and Cosmological Parameters | CMB 功率谱与宇宙学参数

    The CMB power spectrum shows peaks from acoustic oscillations in the early plasma. The position and amplitude of these peaks constrain parameters such as the baryon density Ω_b, cold dark matter density Ω_c, and the curvature of the universe.

    CMB 功率谱显示了早期等离子体中声学振荡产生的峰值。这些峰值的位置和幅度限制了诸如重子密度 Ω_b、冷暗物质密度 Ω_c 以及宇宙曲率等参数。

    The first peak at ℓ ≈ 200 implies a flat geometry (Ω_total ≈ 1). The ratio of odd to even peaks is sensitive to baryon density. These measurements are in excellent agreement with the ΛCDM model.

    第一个峰位于 ℓ ≈ 200 意味着平坦几何(Ω_total ≈ 1)。奇数峰与偶数峰的比例对重子密度敏感。这些测量与 ΛCDM 模型非常一致。

    9. Olbers’ Paradox and the Darkness of the Night Sky | 奥伯斯佯谬与夜空黑暗

    Olbers’ paradox asks: if the universe is infinite and static, why is the night sky dark? In such a universe, every line of sight would end on a star, so the sky should be blazing bright. The paradox is resolved by the expansion of the universe and the finite age of the Big Bang, which limits the amount of starlight that has reached us.

    奥伯斯佯谬问道:如果宇宙是无限且静态的,为什么夜空是黑暗的?在这样的宇宙中,每条视线最终都会落在恒星上,因此天空应当明亮耀眼。这个悖论通过宇宙的膨胀和大爆炸的有限年龄得以解决,这限制了到达我们的星光总量。

    Additionally, cosmological redshift shifts the light from distant stars into the infrared, contributing to the darkness. Thus, the dark night sky supports the Big Bang model.

    此外,宇宙学红移将遥远恒星的光移至红外波段,也造成了黑暗。因此,黑暗的夜空支持大爆炸模型。

    10. The Ultimate Fate of the Universe | 宇宙的最终命运

    The future of the universe depends on its density and the nature of dark energy. If dark energy continues as a cosmological constant, the expansion will accelerate forever, leading to a “Big Freeze.” Alternatively, if dark energy becomes dynamic, a “Big Rip” could occur, tearing apart galaxies, stars, and eventually atoms.

    宇宙的未来取决于其密度和暗能量的性质。如果暗能量作为宇宙学常数持续存在,膨胀将永远加速,导致“大冻结”。或者,如果暗能量是动态的,可能发生“大撕裂”,撕裂星系、恒星乃至原子。

    Measurements of the cosmic microwave background and large-scale structure indicate a flat universe with Ω_total ≈ 1, but dominated by dark energy (Ω_Λ ≈ 0.7), suggesting an eternal accelerating expansion.

    对宇宙微波背景和大尺度结构的测量表明,宇宙是平坦的,Ω_total ≈ 1,但由暗能量主导(Ω_Λ ≈ 0.7),暗示永恒的加速膨胀。

    11. Stellar Parallax and Distance Ladder (Related to Cosmology) | 恒星视差与距离阶梯(与宇宙学相关)

    Cosmology relies on accurate distance measurements. The cosmic distance ladder starts with radar for the solar system, then stellar parallax for nearby stars, Cepheid variables for nearby galaxies, and Type Ia supernovae for distant galaxies. Hubble’s law is calibrated using standard candles.

    宇宙学依赖于精确的距离测量。宇宙距离阶梯从太阳系的雷达测距开始,然后是邻近恒星的视差,附近星系的造父变星,以及遥远星系的 Ia 型超新星。哈勃定律是使用标准烛光校准的。

    Parallax is the apparent shift in a star’s position due to Earth’s motion, measured in arcseconds. The distance in parsecs is d = 1/p, where p is the parallax angle. This method provides the foundation for all extragalactic distances.

    视差是由于地球运动导致的恒星位置视偏移,以角秒为单位测量。距离(秒差距)为 d = 1/p,其中 p 为视差角。这种方法为所有星系外距离提供了基础。

    12. Key Equations and Quantitative Examples | 关键方程与定量例子

    Capacitance is one of the core topics in Edexcel A-level Physics, linking electric fields, energy storage and exponential decay. Mastering the definition, formulas for parallel plates, charge-discharge curves, time constant and energy calculations is essential for both multiple-choice and extended response questions. This article breaks down every exam-relevant point with clear explanations in English and Chinese, ensuring you can tackle any capacitor problem confidently.

    电容是爱德思A-level物理的核心专题之一,它把电场、储能与指数衰减联系起来。掌握电容的定义、平行板公式、充放电曲线、时间常数和能量计算,对于选择题和长答题都至关重要。本文逐条拆解每一个会考到的知识点,配以清晰的中英双语解释,帮你从容应对所有电容器题目。

    1. Definition of Capacitance | 电容的定义

    Capacitance (C) is defined as the charge stored per unit potential difference across a capacitor: C = Q / V. The SI unit is the farad (F), where 1 F = 1 C V⁻¹. In practice, capacitances are usually in microfarads (µF), nanofarads (nF) or picofarads (pF).

    电容(C)定义为单位电势差下电容器所储存的电荷:C = Q / V。国际单位是法拉(F),1 F = 1 C V⁻¹。实际电容器的电容值常用微法(µF)、纳法(nF)或皮法(pF)。

    A capacitor consists of two conducting plates separated by an insulator (dielectric). When connected to a d.c. supply, electrons flow onto one plate, making it negative, and leave the other plate positive. The charge Q on the capacitor refers to the magnitude of the charge on one plate.

    电容器由两个被绝缘体(介电质)隔开的导体板组成。当接上直流电源时,电子流向其中一个极板使其带负电,另一极板因失去电子而带正电。电容器的电荷Q指的是其中一个极板所带电荷的大小。

    C = Q / V

    2. Parallel Plate Capacitor | 平行板电容器

    For a parallel plate capacitor, the capacitance is given by C = ε₀ A / d, where A is the overlapping area of the plates, d is the separation, and ε₀ is the permittivity of free space (8.85 × 10⁻¹² F m⁻¹). This formula shows that C increases with larger plate area and decreases with greater separation.

    对于平行板电容器,电容公式为 C = ε₀ A / d,其中 A 是极板的正对面积,d 是极板间距,ε₀ 是真空介电常数(8.85 × 10⁻¹² F m⁻¹)。该公式表明,极板面积越大电容越大,间距越大电容越小。

    Derivation uses the uniform electric field E = V/d and the charge density σ = Q/A. Combining with E = σ/ε₀ yields Q/V = ε₀A/d. Students must be able to explain how changing A or d affects C, and how edge effects are neglected in the idealised model.

    推导过程利用匀强电场 E = V/d 和电荷密度 σ = Q/A,结合 E = σ/ε₀ 得到 Q/V = ε₀A/d。学生要能解释面积或间距变化对电容的影响,以及理想模型为何忽略边缘效应。

    C = ε₀A / d

    3. Dielectrics and Relative Permittivity | 介电质与相对介电常数

    A dielectric material placed between the plates increases capacitance by a factor εᵣ, the relative permittivity (or dielectric constant). The new capacitance becomes C = εᵣ ε₀ A / d = ε A / d, where ε = εᵣ ε₀ is the absolute permittivity.

    在极板间放入介电质会使电容增大 εᵣ 倍,εᵣ 称为相对介电常数(或介电常数)。此时的电容变为 C = εᵣ ε₀ A / d = ε A / d,其中 ε = εᵣ ε₀ 为绝对介电常数。

    The increase occurs because the dielectric polarises in the electric field, producing an internal field that opposes the external field. This reduces the net electric field between the plates, so a larger charge can be stored for the same applied voltage, thereby increasing C.

    电容增大的原因是:介电质在电场中极化,产生与外电场方向相反的内电场,使极板间的合电场减弱。这样在相同电压下可以储存更多电荷,因此电容增加。

    4. Capacitors in Series and Parallel | 电容器的串联与并联

    For capacitors in parallel, the total capacitance is the sum: Ctotal = C₁ + C₂ + C₃ + … . The potential difference across each capacitor is the same, and the total charge is the sum of individual charges.

    电容器并联时,总电容为各个电容之和:C总 = C₁ + C₂ + C₃ + … 。每个电容器两端的电势差相同,总电荷等于各电容器电荷之和。

    For capacitors in series, the reciprocal total capacitance is the sum of reciprocals: 1/Ctotal = 1/C₁ + 1/C₂ + 1/C₃ + … . The charge on each capacitor is the same, and the applied p.d. is shared across the series combination.

    电容器串联时,总电容的倒数等于各电容倒数之和:1/C总 = 1/C₁ + 1/C₂ + 1/C₃ + … 。每个电容器上的电荷相同,外电压按电容反比分配。

    Parallel / 并联 Series / 串联
    Ctotal = C₁ + C₂ 1/Ctotal = 1/C₁ + 1/C₂
    Same V, Q adds Same Q, V adds

    5. Energy Stored in a Capacitor | 电容器储存的能量

    The energy stored in a charged capacitor can be expressed in three equivalent forms: E = ½ QV = ½ CV² = ½ Q²/C. The energy is stored in the electric field between the plates.

    充电电容器储存的能量有三种等价表达式:E = ½ QV = ½ CV² = ½ Q²/C。能量储存在极板间的电场中。

    To derive, consider the work done moving a small charge dq from one plate to the other when the p.d. is v. The increment of work is dW = v dq. Since v = q/C, integrating from 0 to Q gives W = ½ Q²/C, which yields the other forms. In exams, always identify the variables given to pick the most efficient formula.

    推导时,考虑在电势差为 v 时移动微量电荷 dq 所做的功 dW = v dq。由 v = q/C,对 q 从 0 到 Q 积分得 W = ½ Q²/C,进而得到其它形式。考试时,要根据已知量选择最简公式。

    E = ½ CV²

    6. Charging a Capacitor Through a Resistor | 电容器通过电阻的充电过程

    When a capacitor is charged through a resistor from a d.c. supply of e.m.f. V₀, the p.d. across the capacitor rises according to V = V₀ (1 – e–t/RC) and the current falls as I = I₀ e–t/RC, where I₀ = V₀ / R.

    电容器通过电阻从电动势为 V₀ 的直流电源充电时,电容器两端电压按 V = V₀ (1 – e–t/RC) 上升,电流按 I = I₀ e–t/RC 下降,其中 I₀ = V₀ / R。

    Initially the capacitor acts like a short circuit (zero p.d.), so the initial current is maximum. As charge builds up, the p.d. across the resistor decreases, reducing the current. After a long time, the capacitor p.d. reaches V₀ and current becomes zero – the capacitor behaves like an open circuit.

    初始时电容器如同短路(电压为零),因此初始电流最大。随着电荷积累,电阻两端电压降低,电流减小。足够长时间后,电容器电压达到 V₀,电流为零——电容器相当于断路。

    7. Discharging a Capacitor Through a Resistor | 电容器通过电阻的放电过程

    When a charged capacitor is discharged through a resistor, both charge and p.d. decay exponentially: Q = Q₀ e–t/RC, V = V₀ e–t/RC, and the current also follows I = I₀ e–t/RC (with direction reversed). The negative sign in the current equation simply indicates opposite flow direction.

    充电电容器通过电阻放电时,电荷、电压均按指数衰减:Q = Q₀ e–t/RC,V = V₀ e–t/RC,电流同样满足 I = I₀ e–t/RC(方向相反)。电流方程中的负号仅代表流动方向相反。

    The discharge is modelled by the differential equation dQ/dt = –Q/RC, leading to the exponential solution. A key exam point is to recognise that the rate of discharge (current) is proportional to the charge remaining on the capacitor.

    放电过程由微分方程 dQ/dt = –Q/RC 描述,解即为指数形式。一个重要考点是:放电速率(电流)与电容器上剩余的电荷成正比。

    8. Time Constant τ = RC | 时间常数 τ = RC

    The time constant τ = RC has units of seconds (Ω × F = s). It is the time taken for the charge, voltage or current to fall to 1/e (≈ 37 %) of its initial value during a discharge, or for the voltage to rise to (1 – 1/e) ≈ 63 % of its final value during charging.

    时间常数 τ = RC,单位为秒(Ω × F = s)。它表示放电时电荷、电压或电流衰减到初始值的 1/e(约37%)所需的时间;充电时,则是电压上升到其最终值的 (1 – 1/e)(约63%)所需的时间。

    After a time of 5τ, the capacitor is considered almost fully charged (>99 %) or fully discharged (<1 % remaining). Many numerical problems require calculating τ in seconds, then using the exponential equations to find an unknown at a given time.

    经过 5τ 的时间后,电容器可认为已几乎充满电(>99%)或几乎放完电(<1%)。许多计算题要求先以秒为单位求出 τ,再利用指数方程求给定时刻的未知量。

    τ = RC

    9. Analysing Charge–Discharge Graphs | 充放电曲线分析

    Discharge graphs of V–t, Q–t and I–t are decreasing exponentials with the same time constant. The gradient at any point is proportional to the ordinate, which is a signature of exponential decay. For a straight-line analysis, a plot of ln(V) against t gives a gradient of –1/RC.

    放电时的 V–t、Q–t 和 I–t 图都是具有相同时间常数的衰减指数曲线。曲线上任意一点的斜率与纵坐标值成正比,这是指数衰减的特征。要得到直线关系,可绘制 ln(V) 对 t 的图,其斜率为 –1/RC。

    Charging graphs of V against t start at zero and asymptotically approach V₀; I–t graphs start at maximum and decay to zero. The initial gradient of the V–t graph equals V₀/RC, while the initial gradient of the Q–t graph is the initial current I₀. These can be used to deduce unknown quantities.

    充电时的 V–t 图从零开始渐近趋向 V₀;I–t 图从最大值衰减到零。V–t 图的初始斜率等于 V₀/RC,而 Q–t 图的初始斜率即初始电流 I₀。这些特征可用来推断未知量。

    10. Using Exponential Equations in Problems | 指数方程的解题应用

    When tackling problems, first convert all units to standard form (F, Ω, s, V, C). Next calculate the time constant τ = RC. Then decide whether the situation involves charging or discharging and select the appropriate equation: V = V₀ (1 – e–t/τ) for charging, V = V₀ e–t/τ for discharging.

    解题时,先将所有单位换算成标准形式(F、Ω、s、V、C)。然后计算时间常数 τ = RC。再判断是充电还是放电情形,选择相应方程:充电用 V = V₀ (1 – e–t/τ),放电用 V = V₀ e–t/τ。

    If the question asks for the time to reach a given voltage, take natural logarithms on both sides. For example, t = –τ ln(V/V₀) for discharge. Always check that the argument of ln is positive and that the calculated time is sensible (e.g., a small fraction of τ for small changes, several τ for near-complete change).

    如果题目要求达到某电压所需的时间,两边取自然对数。例如放电时 t = –τ ln(V/V₀)。务必检查 ln 自变量为正,并且计算出的时间合理(小变化对应 τ 的较小倍数,趋近完全变化则需几个 τ)。

    11. Experiment: Measuring Capacitance via Discharge | 实验:通过放电测量电容

    A common practical is to charge a capacitor and then discharge it through a known resistor, recording voltage at regular time intervals with a datalogger or voltmeter. From the V–t graph, the time constant can be read at V = 0.37 V₀, or found from the gradient of an lnV–t graph. Since R is known, C = τ / R.

    常见实验是给电容器充电,然后通过已知电阻放电,用数据记录器或电压表等时距记录电压。从 V–t 图上读取 V = 0.37V₀ 时的时间便可得到时间常数;或作 lnV–t 图由斜率求 τ。已知 R,则 C = τ / R。

    Safety note: ensure the capacitor is fully discharged before handling, and avoid using electrolytic capacitors with reverse polarity. Also, be mindful of the initial surge current, which could damage sensitive ammeters if not protected.

    安全注意:操作前确保电容器已完全放电,避免电解电容接反极性。此外,注意初始浪涌电流,如不加保护可能损坏灵敏电流表。

    12. Common Mistakes and Exam Tips | 常见错误与考试技巧

    Common errors: confusing series and parallel capacitor formulae; forgetting to square voltage in E = ½ CV²; using wrong time constant (e.g., τ = 1/RC); mixing up charging and discharging equations; and not converting µF to F. Also, students often misread graphs, for example taking the time for voltage to halve as the time constant instead of 1/e decay.

    常见错误:混淆电容串并联公式;在 E = ½ CV² 中遗漏电压平方;用错时间常数(如 τ = 1/RC);混淆充电与放电方程;忘记将 µF 换算为 F。学生也常常误读图表,例如将电压降到一半的时间当作时间常数,而实际应是降到 1/e。

    Exam tips: (1) Always start by determining τ; (2) Decide if the process is charging or discharging; (3) Sketch a quick graph if needed to visualise the behaviour; (4) Use proportional reasoning where possible, e.g., doubling C doubles τ and halves the rate of decay; (5) In energy questions, if both C and V change, use the Q²/2C form to avoid mistakes.

    考试技巧:(1) 总是先求出 τ;(2) 判断是充电还是放电;(3) 有需要时快速画出示意图;(4) 尽量使用比例推理,例如 C 加倍则 τ 加倍,衰减速率减半;(5) 能量题中若 C 和 V 同时变化,用 Q²/2C 形式更不易出错。

    1. Defining Speed and Acceleration | 定义速度与加速度

    Average speed is defined as the total distance travelled divided by the total time taken. If an object moves a distance d in a time t, we write:

    平均速度定义为总移动距离除以总时间。若物体在时间 t 内移动了距离 d,可写作:

    average speed = d / t

    This definition can be rearranged to find distance, d = average speed × t, which is useful for analysing uniform motion. For motion with changing velocity, we introduce acceleration. Acceleration a is the rate of change of velocity. If the velocity increases from an initial value u to a final value v over a time t, the acceleration is given by:

    此定义可变形以求出距离 d = 平均速度 × t,这对于分析匀速运动十分有用。对于速度变化的运动,我们引入加速度。加速度 a 是速度的变化率。若速度在时间 t 内从初值 u 增加到末值 v,加速度为:

    a = (v – u) / t

    This formula assumes constant acceleration. Rearranging gives v = u + a t, which is our first equation of motion and a direct consequence of the definition of acceleration.

    此公式假设加速度恒定。移项后得到 v = u + a t,这是我们的第一个运动方程,也是加速度定义的直接结果。

    2. Deriving the Equations of Motion | 运动方程的推导

    When acceleration is constant, a velocity–time graph is a straight line. The area under the graph represents displacement s. The area is a trapezium, so we can calculate s as the product of the average velocity and time:

    当加速度恒定时,速度-时间图像是一条直线。图像下的面积代表位移 s。该区域为梯形,因此可用平均速度与时间的乘积计算 s:

    s = ½(u + v) t

    Substituting v = u + a t into this displacement formula yields s = ½(u + u + a t) t, which simplifies to:

    将 v = u + a t 代入此位移公式得到 s = ½(u + u + a t) t,化简得:

    s = u t + ½ a t²

    If we eliminate t from s = ½(u + v)t using t = (v – u)/a, we obtain s = ½(u + v)(v – u)/a = (v² – u²) / (2a). Rearranging gives the fourth useful relationship:

    若用 t = (v – u)/a 从 s = ½(u + v)t 中消去 t,可得 s = ½(u + v)(v – u)/a = (v² – u²) / (2a)。移项后得到第四个有用的关系式:

    v² = u² + 2 a s

    These four equations of motion – v = u + a t, s = ½(u + v) t, s = u t + ½ a t², and v² = u² + 2 a s – are used extensively to solve problems involving constant acceleration in a straight line.

    这四个运动方程——v = u + a t、s = ½(u + v) t、s = u t + ½ a t² 以及 v² = u² + 2 a s——广泛用于解决匀加速直线运动的问题。

    3. Newton’s Second Law and F = ma | 牛顿第二定律与 F = ma

    Newton’s second law states that the net force acting on an object is directly proportional to the rate of change of its momentum. When mass is constant, this is written as F ∝ m a. Through experimentation, we find that doubling the force doubles the acceleration for a fixed mass, and doubling the mass halves the acceleration for a fixed force. By defining the unit of force, the newton (N), as the force that gives a mass of 1 kg an acceleration of 1 m/s², the proportionality constant becomes 1:

    牛顿第二定律指出,作用于物体的净力与其动量的变化率成正比。当质量恒定时,可写为 F ∝ m a。实验表明,质量一定时力加倍则加速度加倍,力一定时质量加倍则加速度减半。通过定义力的单位牛顿 (N) 为使 1 kg 物体产生 1 m/s² 加速度的力,比例常数变为 1:

    F = m a

    This simple relationship connects force, mass and acceleration. It is the foundation for dynamics. For example, the weight of an object is the force due to gravity on its mass: W = m g, where g is the acceleration of free fall near the Earth’s surface, approximately 9.8 m/s².

    这一简洁的关系式将力、质量和加速度联系起来,是动力学的基础。例如,物体的重量就是重力作用于其质量的力:W = m g,其中 g 为地球表面附近的自由落体加速度,约为 9.8 m/s²。

    4. Momentum and Impulse | 动量与冲量

    Momentum p is defined as the product of mass and velocity: p = m v. From Newton’s second law in its more general form, force equals the rate of change of momentum: F = Δp / Δt. For constant mass, this becomes F = (m v – m u) / Δt = m (v – u)/Δt = m a, consistent with F = m a. Rearranging gives the impulse–momentum relationship:

    动量 p 定义为质量与速度的乘积:p = m v。根据牛顿第二定律的更一般形式,力等于动量的变化率:F = Δp / Δt。当质量不变时,变为 F = (m v – m u) / Δt = m (v – u)/Δt = m a,与 F = m a 一致。移项后得到冲量-动量的关系:

    F t = m v – m u = Δ p

    The product of force and time, F t, is called impulse. This equation tells us that the impulse acting on an object equals the change in its momentum. It is especially useful when forces act over very short time intervals, such as in collisions.

    力与时间的乘积 F t 称为冲量。该方程表明,作用于物体的冲量等于其动量的变化量。在碰撞等力作用时间极短的情况下,这一关系尤为有用。

    5. Work, Kinetic Energy and Potential Energy | 功、动能与势能

    Work is done when a force moves an object. The work done W by a constant force F moving a distance d in the direction of the force is:

    当力使物体移动时,力就做了功。恒力 F 在力的方向上移动距离 d 所做的功为:

    W = F d

    Consider a constant net force accelerating an object from rest. Using F = m a and v² = u² + 2 a s with u = 0, we get a s = v² / 2. Then:

    考虑一个恒定的净力使物体从静止开始加速。利用 F = m a 和 v² = u² + 2 a s,且 u = 0,得到 a s = v² / 2。于是:

    W = F s = m a s = m (v² / 2) = ½ m v²

    This work done on the object is stored as kinetic energy (KE). Hence the kinetic energy of an object of mass m moving at speed v is KE = ½ m v². If the object already had an initial speed u, the work done equals the change in kinetic energy: F d = ½ m v² – ½ m u².

    对物体做的这个功被储存为动能 (KE)。因此,质量为 m、速度为 v 的物体具有动能 KE = ½ m v²。若物体已有初速度 u,则所做的功等于动能的变化量:F d = ½ m v² – ½ m u²。

    When lifting an object through a vertical height h, the force required to overcome gravity is the weight m g. The work done against gravity is W = m g h. This energy becomes gravitational potential energy (GPE):

    当克服重力将物体竖直提升高度 h 时,所需的力为重量 m g。克服重力所做的功为 W = m g h。这部分能量转化为重力势能 (GPE):

    GPE = m g h

    In the absence of air resistance and friction, the decrease in GPE equals the increase in KE, leading to the principle of conservation of mechanical energy.

    在无空气阻力和摩擦的情况下,重力势能的减少量等于动能的增加量,从而得出机械能守恒原理。

    6. Pressure in Fluids: p = ρgh | 流体压强:p = ρgh

    Pressure p is defined as the force acting perpendicularly per unit area: p = F / A. In a liquid, the pressure at a depth h arises from the weight of the liquid column above that point. Consider a column of liquid of density ρ, cross-sectional area A, and height h. Its volume is V = A h, its mass is m = ρ V = ρ A h, and its weight is W = m g = ρ A h g.

    压强 p 定义为垂直作用于单位面积上的力:p = F / A。在液体中,深度 h 处的压强源自该点上方液柱的重量。考虑一个密度为 ρ、截面积为 A、高度为 h 的液柱。其体积 V = A h,质量 m = ρ V = ρ A h,重量 W = m g = ρ A h g。

    Since the force acting on the area A at depth h is this weight, the pressure due to the liquid alone is:

    由于作用在深度 h 处面积 A 上的力就是该重量,因此仅由液体产生的压强为:

    p = F / A = (ρ A h g) / A = ρ g h

    This is the hydrostatic pressure equation. The total pressure at a point in a liquid includes the atmospheric pressure acting on the surface, so total p = p_atm + ρ g h. The derivation shows that liquid pressure depends only on depth, density, and gravitational field strength, not on the total volume or shape of the container.

    这就是流体静压强的方程。液体中某点的总压强包含作用在液面上的大气压强,因此总压强 p = p_atm + ρ g h。该推导表明液体压强仅取决于深度、密度和重力场强度,而与液体的总体积或容器形状无关。

    7. Specific Heat Capacity and Heat Transfer | 比热容与热传递

    When energy is transferred to a substance, its temperature may rise. The specific heat capacity c is the energy required to raise the temperature of 1 kg of the substance by 1 °C (or 1 K). For a mass m experiencing a temperature change Δθ, the heat transferred Q is:

    当能量传递给物质时,其温度可能升高。比热容 c 是使 1 kg 物质温度升高 1 °C(或 1 K)所需的能量。对于发生温度变化 Δθ 的质量 m,传递的热量 Q 为:

    Q = m c Δθ

    This formula is derived from the definition of specific heat capacity and the principle of conservation of energy: electrical energy supplied (V I t) is equated to the thermal energy gained (m c Δθ), assuming no heat losses. If a heater of power P delivers energy for a time t, then P t = m c Δθ, allowing c to be determined experimentally.

    该公式由比热容的定义和能量守恒原理推导得出:假设无热量损失,供给的电能 (V I t) 等于获得的热能 (m c Δθ)。若一个功率为 P 的加热器提供能量 t 秒,则有 P t = m c Δθ,从而可通过实验测定 c。

    During a change of state, the temperature remains constant, and the energy supplied goes into breaking inter-particle bonds rather than increasing kinetic energy. The specific latent heat L is the energy required to change the state of 1 kg of a substance without a temperature change:

    在物态变化过程中,温度保持不变,所提供的能量用于打破粒子间的键,而非增加动能。比潜热 L 是使 1 kg 物质在无温度变化时改变物态所需的能量:

    Q = m L

    Both equations are fundamental in calorimetry and for understanding energy budgets in heating and cooling processes.

    这两个方程在量热学中以及在理解加热和冷却过程中的能量平衡方面都是基础。

    8. Ohm’s Law and Resistance in Circuits | 欧姆定律与电路中的电阻

    Ohm’s law states that the current I through a metallic conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference V across it, provided temperature remains constant. The constant of proportionality is the resistance R:

    欧姆定律指出,在温度恒定的条件下,通过金属导体的电流 I 与其两端的电势差 V 成正比。比例常数即为电阻 R:

    V = I R

    This defines resistance as R = V / I. For resistors connected in series, the current is the same through each. The total potential difference is V_total = V₁ + V₂ + … . Using V = I R for each, we have I R_total = I R₁ + I R₂ + … . Cancelling the common current I gives:

    这一定义了电阻 R = V / I。对于串联的电阻器,流过每个电阻器的电流相同。总电势差 V_total = V₁ + V₂ + … 。对每个电阻器使用 V = I R,得到 I R_total = I R₁ + I R₂ + … 。约去公共电流 I,得:

    R_total = R₁ + R₂ + …

    For resistors in parallel, the potential difference across each branch is the same. The total current from the source splits: I_total = I₁ + I₂ + … . Substituting I = V / R gives V / R_total = V / R₁ + V / R₂ + … . Cancelling V yields:

    对于并联的电阻器,每个支路两端的电势差相同。从电源流出的总电流分流:I_total = I₁ + I₂ + … 。代入 I = V / R,得到 V / R_total = V / R₁ + V / R₂ + … 。约去 V,得:

    1 / R_total = 1 / R₁ + 1 / R₂ + …

    These derivations rely only on Ohm’s law, the conservation of charge (current) at junctions, and the conservation of energy (potential difference) around a closed loop, which are the foundations of circuit analysis.

    这些推导仅依赖于欧姆定律、节点处的电荷守恒(电流)以及闭合回路中的能量守恒(电势差),这也是电路分析的基础。

    9. Electrical Power and Energy Dissipation | 电功率与能量消耗

    Electrical power P is the rate at which electrical energy is transferred. By definition, power is work done per unit time. When a charge Q moves through a potential difference V, the work done is W = V Q. Current is I = Q / t, so Q = I t. Substituting gives W = V I t. Therefore, power is:

    电功率 P 是电能转换的速率。根据定义,功率是单位时间内所做的功。当电荷 Q 通过电势差 V 时,做功为 W = V Q。电流 I = Q / t,因此 Q = I t。代入得到 W = V I t。于是功率为:

    P = W / t = V I

    For a component that obeys Ohm’s law, we can substitute V = I R or I = V / R to obtain alternative forms:

    对于服从欧姆定律的元件,可代入 V = I R 或 I = V / R,得到其他形式:

    P = I² R   and   P = V² / R

    The energy transferred in a time t is E = P t = V I t = I² R t = (V² / R) t. These equations are used to calculate the heating effect in resistors, the brightness of lamps, and the energy consumption of household appliances, often expressed in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

    在时间 t 内传递的能量为 E = P t = V I t = I² R t = (V² / R) t。这些等式用于计算电阻器的热效应、灯泡的亮度以及家用电器的能量消耗,能量通常以千瓦时 (kWh) 表示。

    10. The Transformer Equation | 变压器公式

    A transformer consists of two coils wound on a common iron core. An alternating current in the primary coil produces a changing magnetic flux, which is almost entirely linked through the secondary coil. According to Faraday’s law, the induced e.m.f. across each coil is proportional to the rate of change of flux and the number of turns. Since the same rate of change of flux is experienced by each turn, the e.m.f. per turn is constant. Hence:

    变压器由绕在同一铁芯上的两个线圈组成。初级线圈中的交变电流产生变化的磁通量,该磁通量几乎完全通过次级线圈。根据法拉第定律,每个线圈中的感应电动势与磁通量变化率及匝数成正比。由于每匝经历的磁通量变化率相同,因此每匝的电势为常数。从而:

    V_p / N_p = V_s / N_s ⇒ V_p / V_s = N_p / N_s

    where V_p and V_s are the primary and secondary voltages, and N_p and N_s are the respective numbers of turns. For an ideal transformer with 100% efficiency, the input power equals the output power:

    其中 V_p 和 V_s 分别为初级和次级电压,N_p 和 N_s 为各自匝数。对于效率为 100% 的理想变压器,输入功率等于输出功率:

    P_in = P_out ⇒ V_p I_p = V_s I_s

    Combining the two relations gives I_s / I_p = N_p / N_s, showing that a step-up transformer increases voltage but decreases current proportionally, and vice versa. This derivation is central to understanding power transmission in the national grid.

    结合这两个关系式可得 I_s / I_p = N_p / N_s,表明升压变压器升高电压但按比例减小电流,反之亦然。这一推导对于理解国家电网中的电力传输至关重要。

    1. Deriving Centripetal Acceleration a = v²/r | 推导向心加速度 a = v²/r

    To derive the centripetal acceleration, consider an object moving at constant speed v along a circular path of radius r. In a small time interval Δt, the object rotates through an angle Δθ. The velocity vector, which is always tangent to the circle, also rotates by the same angle Δθ. The change in velocity Δv is directed toward the centre and has magnitude Δv ≈ vΔθ (for small angles). The acceleration is a = Δv/Δt = v (Δθ/Δt) = vω, where ω is the angular speed. Since the linear speed v and angular speed are related by v = ωr, we can write ω = v/r. Substituting this gives a = v(v/r) = v²/r. This is the magnitude of the centripetal acceleration.

    为推导向心加速度,考虑一物体以恒定速率 v 沿半径为 r 的圆周运动。在很短的时间间隔 Δt 内,物体转过角度 Δθ。速度矢量始终与圆周相切,同样转过角度 Δθ。速度的变化量 Δv 指向圆心,其大小在极小角度下可写为 Δv ≈ vΔθ。加速度 a = Δv/Δt = v (Δθ/Δt) = vω,其中 ω 为角速度。由于线速度与角速度满足 v = ωr,可得 ω = v/r。代入得到 a = v(v/r) = v²/r。这就是向心加速度的大小。

    a = v²/r = ω²r

    2. Electric Field Strength from Potential Gradient E = -dV/dr | 由电势梯度求电场强度 E = -dV/dr

    In a radial electric field around a point charge, the potential V at a distance r is given by V = kQ/r, where k = 1/(4πε₀). The electric field strength E is the negative gradient of the potential: E = -dV/dr. Differentiating V with respect to r gives dV/dr = -kQ/r², so E = kQ/r², which is consistent with Coulomb’s law. For a uniform field, the potential difference between two plates separated by distance d is V, and the field strength is constant: E = V/d. This derivation highlights the fundamental link between potential and field, often examined through graphs of V against r.

    在点电荷周围的径向电场中,距离 r 处的电势 V = kQ/r,其中 k = 1/(4πε₀)。电场强度 E 是电势的负梯度:E = -dV/dr。对 V 求导可得 dV/dr = -kQ/r²,因此 E = kQ/r²,与库仑定律一致。对于匀强电场,两板之间的电势差为 V、距离为 d 时,场强为恒定值 E = V/d。这一推导突显了电势与电场的基本联系,常通过 V–r 图线进行考查。

    E = -dV/dr ⇒ E = kQ/r² (radial); E = V/d (uniform)

    3. Energy Stored in a Capacitor E = ½CV² | 电容器储存的能量 E = ½CV²

    When a capacitor is charged, the potential difference across its plates increases as V = q/C. The work done by the power supply to add a small charge dq is dW = V dq = (q/C) dq. Integrating from 0 to the final charge Q gives the total energy stored: W = ∫₀Q (q/C) dq = (1/C)[q²/2]₀Q = Q²/(2C). Since Q = CV, we can write the energy as E = ½CV² or E = ½QV. This energy is stored in the electric field between the plates and can be recovered during discharge.

    电容器充电时,两极板间的电势差按 V = q/C 增大。电源送入微小电荷 dq 所做的功为 dW = V dq = (q/C) dq。从 0 积分到最终电荷 Q,得到储存的总能量:W = ∫₀Q (q/C) dq = (1/C)[q²/2]₀Q = Q²/(2C)。利用 Q = CV,能量可以表示为 E = ½CV² 或 E = ½QV。该能量储存在两极板间的电场中,放电时可以释放出来。

    E = ½CV² = ½QV = Q²/(2C)

    4. Motional EMF: ε = Blv | 动生电动势 ε = Blv

    Motional EMF is induced when a conductor moves through a magnetic field, cutting magnetic flux lines. For a straight conductor of length l moving perpendicularly to a uniform magnetic field of strength B with speed v, the flux cut per unit time is given by Φ = BA, where A is the area swept. The area swept in time Δt is ΔA = l v Δt. The rate of change of flux is dΦ/dt = B dA/dt = B l v. According to Faraday’s law, the magnitude of the induced EMF is ε = dΦ/dt, thus ε = Blv. This derivation assumes the conductor, field, and velocity are mutually perpendicular.

    当导体的运动切割磁力线时会产生动生电动势。对于一根长度为 l 的直导体,垂直于磁感应强度为 B 的匀强磁场并以速度 v 运动,单位时间内切割的磁通量为 Φ = BA,其中 A 为扫过的面积。在 Δt 时间内扫过的面积 ΔA = l v Δt。磁通量变化率 dΦ/dt = B dA/dt = B l v。根据法拉第定律,感应电动势的大小 ε = dΦ/dt,因此 ε = Blv。这个推导要求导体、磁场与速度三者互相垂直。

    ε = Blv

    5. Radius of Circular Path in a Magnetic Field: r = mv/(Bq) | 磁场中回旋半径 r = mv/(Bq)

    A charged particle moving perpendicular to a uniform magnetic field experiences a magnetic Lorentz force F = qvB, which is always perpendicular to the velocity. This force acts as a centripetal force, causing circular motion. Equating the magnetic force to the centripetal force required for circular motion gives qvB = mv²/r. Solving for the radius r yields r = mv/(qB). The period of revolution T = 2πr/v = 2πm/(qB), which is independent of the particle’s speed. This derivation is the basis for understanding mass spectrometers and cyclotrons.

    一个带电粒子垂直于匀强磁场运动时,会受到始终与速度垂直的洛伦兹力 F = qvB。这个力充当向心力,使粒子做匀速圆周运动。令洛伦兹力等于圆周运动所需的向心力:qvB = mv²/r。解出回旋半径 r = mv/(qB)。运动周期 T = 2πr/v = 2πm/(qB),与粒子速率无关。这一推导是理解质谱仪和回旋加速器工作的基础。

    r = mv/(qB) ; T = 2πm/(qB)

    6. Deflection of a Charged Particle in a Uniform Electric Field | 匀强电场中带电粒子的偏转

    Consider an electron entering a uniform electric field between parallel plates of length L at initial speed v₀ horizontally. The vertical electric force gives an acceleration a = eE/m upward. In the horizontal direction, the motion is uniform, so the time spent between the plates is t = L/v₀. The vertical deflection y is obtained from y = ½ a t² = ½ (eE/m) (L/v₀)² = (eE L²)/(2m v₀²). The angle of emergence θ satisfies tan θ = v_y/v_x = (a t)/v₀ = (eE L)/(m v₀²). This derivation is frequently combined with subsequent free flight to a screen, forming the basis of an electron deflection tube.

    考虑电子以水平初速度 v₀ 射入长度为 L 的平行板匀强电场中。竖直方向的电场力产生加速度 a = eE/m。水平方向为匀速运动,故电子在极板间的时间 t = L/v₀。竖直偏转距离 y = ½ a t² = ½ (eE/m) (L/v₀)² = (eE L²)/(2m v₀²)。出射角度 θ 满足 tan θ = v_y/v_x = (a t)/v₀ = (eE L)/(m v₀²)。这一推导常常结合后续无场区的匀速直线运动,形成电子偏转管的工作基础。

    y = eE L²/(2m v₀²) ; tan θ = eE L/(m v₀²)

    7. Relating Kinetic Energy and Momentum | 动能与动量的关系

    Kinetic energy and momentum are linked through the object’s mass and speed. Starting from the definitions E_k = ½mv² and p = mv, we can express v = p/m. Substituting into the energy formula gives E_k = ½ m (p/m)² = p²/(2m). Conversely, momentum can be written as p = √(2mE_k). These relations are particularly useful in elastic collision problems and when comparing the motion of particles with identical kinetic energies but different masses.

    动能和动量通过物体的质量和速率相互关联。从定义式 E_k = ½mv² 和 p = mv 出发,可写出 v = p/m。将之代入动能公式得 E_k = ½ m (p/m)² = p²/(2m)。反过来,动量可以表示为 p = √(2mE_k)。这些关系在处理弹性碰撞问题以及比较具有相同动能但质量不同的粒子运动时格外有用。

    E_k = p²/(2m) ; p = √(2mE_k)

    8. Deriving the RC Discharge Equation Q = Q₀ e^{-t/RC} | RC 放电方程 Q = Q₀ e^{-t/RC} 的推导

    For a capacitor discharging through a resistor, Kirchhoff’s voltage law gives V_C = V_R, i.e., Q/C = IR. The current is the rate of decrease of charge, so I = -dQ/dt. Substituting yields Q/C = -R dQ/dt, or dQ/dt = -Q/(RC). This first-order differential equation is solved by separating variables: dQ/Q = -dt/(RC). Integrating both sides gives ln Q = -t/(RC) + constant. Applying the initial condition Q = Q₀ at t = 0 leads to Q = Q₀ e^{-t/RC}. The time constant τ = RC is the time for the charge to fall to Q₀/e (about 37%). Similar derivations apply to voltage and current during charging and discharging.

    对于电容器通过电阻器放电的情况,由基尔霍夫电压定律可得 V_C = V_R,即 Q

    📚 Gravitation – GCSE CIE Physics | GCSE CIE 物理:万有引力考点精讲

    Gravitation is a fundamental force of nature that attracts any two objects with mass. In GCSE CIE Physics, you need to understand how gravity acts on objects near the Earth’s surface, how it governs planetary motion, and how to calculate weight, gravitational potential energy, and the acceleration due to free fall. This topic bridges everyday experience with the laws that keep the Moon in orbit and the planets around the Sun. Mastering these concepts will not only prepare you for your exam but also deepen your appreciation of the physical world.

    万有引力是自然界中一种基本的吸引力,任何有质量的两个物体之间都存在万有引力。在 GCSE CIE 物理课程中,你需要理解重力如何作用于地球表面附近的物体、如何支配行星运动,并掌握重量、重力势能以及自由落体加速度的计算方法。这一主题将日常经验与维持月球轨道和行星绕日运行的定律联系起来。掌握这些概念不仅有助于你应对考试,还会加深你对物理世界的理解。

    1. What is Gravitation? | 什么是万有引力?

    Gravitation, or gravity, is a non-contact force that pulls masses toward each other. The size of the gravitational force between two objects depends on their masses and the distance between their centres. On a planetary scale, gravity is responsible for the orbits of moons, planets, and satellites. Near the Earth’s surface, we experience gravity as the force that gives us weight and causes objects to fall downwards.

    万有引力(或简称重力)是一种非接触力,会把有质量的物体互相拉近。两个物体之间引力的大小取决于它们的质量以及它们中心之间的距离。在行星尺度上,重力决定了月球、行星和人造卫星的轨道。在地球表面附近,我们感受到的重力表现为赋予我们重量的力,并使物体向下落。

    2. Gravitational Field Strength (g) | 引力场强度 (g)

    The gravitational field strength, symbol g, is the force per unit mass acting on a small test mass placed in the field. On Earth, the average value of g is approximately 9.8 N/kg. This means that a 1 kg mass experiences a gravitational force of about 9.8 N downwards. The exact value of g can vary slightly with altitude and latitude, but you can assume g = 9.8 m/s² for most calculations.

    引力场强度,符号为 g,是指作用在场中一个较小的检验质量上的每单位质量的力。在地球上,g 的平均值约为 9.8 牛/千克。这意味着 1 千克的质量会受到大约 9.8 牛向下的引力。g 的精确值会随海拔和纬度的不同而略有变化,但在大多数计算中你可以取 g = 9.8 米/秒²。

    3. Mass vs Weight | 质量与重量

    Mass is the amount of matter in an object and is measured in kilograms (kg). It does not change with location. Weight is the gravitational force acting on a mass and is measured in newtons (N). The relationship is given by W = mg, where m is the mass and g is the gravitational field strength. An astronaut’s mass is the same on the Moon as on Earth, but their weight is about one-sixth because the Moon’s gravitational field strength is much lower.

    质量是物体所含物质的多少,单位是千克 (kg),它不随位置改变。重量是作用在质量上的引力,单位是牛顿 (N)。两者之间的关系为 W = mg,其中 m 是质量,g 是引力场强度。航天员在月球上的质量与在地球上相同,但他们的重量大约只有地球上的六分之一,因为月球的引力场强度小得多。

    4. Acceleration due to Gravity | 重力加速度

    Near the Earth’s surface, all objects fall with the same acceleration if air resistance is negligible. This acceleration is called the acceleration due to gravity, also denoted by g, and its value is 9.8 m/s². This means that in each second of free fall, the object’s downward velocity increases by 9.8 m/s. Because weight is the force causing this acceleration, the value of g connects force (N/kg) to acceleration (m/s²) seamlessly.

    在地球表面附近,如果忽略空气阻力,所有物体都以相同的加速度下落。这一加速度称为重力加速度,同样用 g 表示,其值为 9.8 米/秒²。这意味着在自由落体中,物体的向下速度每秒增加 9.8 米/秒。由于重量正是产生这一加速度的力,g 的值自然地将力(牛/千克)与加速度(米/秒²)联系起来。

    5. Free Fall | 自由落体

    Free fall is the motion of an object where gravity is the only force acting on it. In the absence of air resistance, a feather and a hammer dropped from the same height hit the ground at the same time. This was famously demonstrated on the Moon by astronaut David Scott. In real life, air resistance opposes the motion of falling objects, eventually leading to a constant terminal velocity when the resistance force balances the weight.

    自由落体是指只受重力作用的物体运动。在没有空气阻力的情况下,从同一高度同时释放一根羽毛和一把锤子,它们会同时落地。航天员大卫·斯科特在月球上著名的实验证明了这一点。在现实生活中,空气阻力会阻碍下落物体的运动,当阻力与重量平衡时,物体的速度最终会达到一个恒定的终极速度。

    6. Gravitational Potential Energy | 重力势能

    Gravitational potential energy (Ep) is the energy stored in an object because of its position in a gravitational field. Near the Earth’s surface, the change in gravitational potential energy is given by ΔEp = mgΔh, where Δh is the change in height. This equation assumes g is constant. Lifting an object does work against gravity and increases its store of gravitational potential energy; when it falls, this energy is transferred to kinetic energy.

    重力势能 (Ep) 是物体由于在引力场中的位置而储存的能量。在地球表面附近,重力势能的变化由公式 ΔEp = mgΔh 给出,其中 Δh 是高度的变化。这一公式假设 g 保持不变。提升一个物体会克服重力做功,增加其重力势能的储存;当它下落时,这部分能量转化为动能。

    7. Measuring g Experimentally | 实验测量 g

    In the laboratory, you can determine g by measuring the time it takes for a freely falling object to drop a known distance. Using a trapdoor and an electromagnet, you can time a steel ball’s fall and apply the equation of motion s = ½gt² (if initial velocity is zero). Rearranging gives g = 2s / t². Another method uses a pendulum: by measuring the period T for small oscillations, you can find g from T = 2π√(L/g).

    在实验室中,你可以通过测量自由下落物体经过已知距离所需的时间来测定 g。用一个陷阱门和电磁铁,你可以记录一个钢球下落的时间,并应用运动学公式 s = ½gt²(当初速度为零时)。整理可得 g = 2s / t²。另一种方法使用单摆:测量小角度摆动时的周期 T,然后通过 T = 2π√(L/g) 计算出 g。

    8. Factors Affecting g | 影响 g 的因素

    The value of g is not exactly the same everywhere on Earth. It is slightly higher at the poles than at the equator because the Earth is not a perfect sphere; the poles are closer to the Earth’s centre. Altitude also matters: g decreases as you move away from the Earth’s surface. Furthermore, the Earth’s rotation causes a slight reduction in apparent g at the equator. For the GCSE exam, you only need to know that g can vary slightly, and on other planets g is very different.

    在地球上不同地方,g 的值并不完全相同。由于地球不是一个完美的球体,两极的 g 略高于赤道,因为两极更靠近地心。海拔高度也有影响:离地球表面越远,g 越小。此外,地球的自转使得赤道处的视在 g 略微减小。在 GCSE 考试中,你只需知道 g 可能会有微小变化,而在其他行星上 g 的值则完全不同。

    9. Weightlessness and Orbits | 失重与轨道

    Astronauts in orbit around the Earth appear to be weightless, but this does not mean that gravity is absent. The spacecraft and the astronauts are in free fall towards the Earth, but they also have a large tangential velocity that makes them fall around the Earth rather than directly into it. This continuous free-fall state creates the sensation of weightlessness. The same principle governs the Moon’s orbit around the Earth and the Earth’s orbit around the Sun.

    在环绕地球轨道上的航天员似乎处于失重状态,但这并不表示重力已经消失。航天器与航天员都在朝着地球自由下落,但同时又具有足够大的切向速度,使得他们围绕地球下落,而不是直接坠入地球。这种持续的自由落体状态造成了失重的感觉。同样的原理支配着月球绕地球的运动以及地球绕太阳的运动。

    10. Gravity on the Moon and Planets | 月球与行星上的重力

    The gravitational field strength on the surface of a planet or moon depends on its mass and radius. The Moon’s surface gravity is about 1.6 N/kg, roughly one-sixth that of Earth. On Jupiter, the giant planet, g is about 24.8 N/kg. Because weight is mg, an object would weigh far more on Jupiter than on Earth. Understanding how g varies across celestial bodies helps explain why astronauts can leap higher on the Moon and why planets have different atmospheres.

    行星或月球表面的引力场强度取决于其质量和半径。月球表面的重力约为 1.6 牛/千克,大约是地球的六分之一。在巨大的木星上,g 约为 24.8 牛/千克。由于重量为 mg,一个物体在木星上的重量会比在地球上大很多。了解 g 如何在不同天体间变化,有助于解释为什么航天员在月球上能跳得更高,以及为什么各行星拥有不同的大气层。

    11. Projectile Motion and Gravity | 抛体运动与重力

    A projectile is any object that is thrown or launched and moves under the influence of gravity. Near the Earth’s surface, the horizontal and vertical components of motion can be treated independently. The horizontal velocity remains constant (ignoring air resistance), while the vertical velocity changes at a rate of 9.8 m/s² downwards. This combination gives the parabolic path characteristic of a projectile. Gravity is the only force acting on the projectile after launch, making it accelerate towards the ground.

    抛体是指任何被抛出或发射、并在重力作用下运动的物体。在地球表面附近,运动的水平分量和竖直分量可以独立分析。水平速度(忽略空气阻力)保持不变,而竖直速度以 9.8 米/秒² 的速率向下变化。这两种运动的结合使得抛体轨迹呈抛物线形。抛出后,重力是唯一作用在抛体上的力,使它加速向地面坠落。

    12. Summary of Key Equations | 关键公式总结

    Here are the essential equations related to gravitation for your GCSE Physics exam. They should be memorised and applied with the correct units: weight W = mg (newtons, kilograms, N/kg); gravitational potential energy change ΔEp = mgΔh (joules, kilograms, metres); for an object starting from rest, distance fallen s = ½gt² (metres, seconds). Remember that g is 9.8 m/s² on Earth unless stated otherwise, and always check that your answer makes physical sense.

    以下是 GCSE 物理考试中与万有引力相关的关键公式。你需要记忆这些公式,并使用正确的单位:重量 W = mg(牛顿、千克、牛/千克);重力势能变化 ΔEp = mgΔh(焦耳、千克、米);对于从静止开始下落的物体,下落距离 s = ½gt²(米、秒)。请牢记,除非另有说明,地球上的 g 取 9.8 米/秒²,并且要始终检查你的答案在物理上是否合理。

    📚 IB & WJEC Physics: Calculation Question Drill | IB与WJEC物理:计算题专项训练

    Physics calculations form the backbone of exam success in both IB and WJEC specifications. This guide provides a structured approach to mastering quantitative problem‑solving, from fundamental unit handling to advanced mechanics, fields, and thermodynamics. Each section pairs a key technique with examples that mirror the style and depth required by these boards.

    物理计算是IB和WJEC考试成功的关键。本指南提供了一套系统量化解题方法,涵盖从基本单位处理到进阶力学、场和热力学的内容。每一节将关键技巧与贴近这两个考试局题型风格和深度的例题配对,帮助你在计算题中稳操胜券。

    1. Extracting Data and Visualising the Problem | 提取数据与可视化问题

    Begin by highlighting numerical values and their units directly on the question paper. Sketch a clear diagram labelling all forces, velocities, and field directions. Convert every quantity into SI base units before plugging into equations.

    首先直接在题目纸上标出所有数值及其单位。绘制清晰的示意图,标出所有的力、速度以及场的方向。在代入方程之前,将每一个物理量转换成国际单位制基本单位。

    For example, if a car accelerates from 54 km/h to 90 km/h over 120 m, rewrite 54 km/h = 15 m/s and 90 km/h = 25 m/s. The sketch then shows an arrow for initial velocity, final velocity, and displacement, making the kinematics choice obvious.

    例如,一辆汽车从54 km/h加速到90 km/h,行驶了120 m,则先把54 km/h改写为15 m/s,90 km/h为25 m/s。示意图上再画出初速度、末速度和位移的箭头,运动学公式的选择就变得一目了然。

    2. Units, Significant Figures and Dimensional Checking | 单位、有效数字与量纲检查

    Always write the unit next to each substituted value. Use dimensional analysis as a quick error detector: if a force calculation gives kg·m/s, you have missed a factor of s⁻¹. IB and WJEC mark schemes consistently penalise missing or mismatched units and incorrect significant figures.

    始终在每一个代入值旁写下单位。利用量纲分析快速查错:如果力的计算结果得到kg·m/s,就说明漏掉了s⁻¹因子。IB和WJEC的评分标准一向会扣掉缺少或单位错误以及有效数字不正确的分数。

    In final answers, match the least number of significant figures from the given data. For intermediate steps, keep one extra figure to avoid rounding errors. A mistake often seen is reporting g = 9.8 N/kg as 10 N/kg and then losing precision in energy sums.

    最终答案的有效数字应与已知数据中最少的保持一致。中间步骤多保留一位数字以避免舍入误差。一个常见错误是把g=9.8 N/kg当成10 N/kg,结果在能量求和中丢失精度。

    • Length: m, mm → 10⁻³ m, km → 10³ m
    • Mass: g → 10⁻³ kg, tonne → 10³ kg
    • Time: minutes → 60 s, hours → 3600 s
    • Force: N = kg·m/s²
    • Energy: J = N·m = kg·m²/s²
    • 长度:m,mm → 10⁻³ m,km → 10³ m
    • 质量:g → 10⁻³ kg,吨 → 10³ kg
    • 时间:分钟 → 60 s,小时 → 3600 s
    • 力:N = kg·m/s²
    • 能量:J = N·m = kg·m²/s²

    3. Selecting the Right Equation & Rearranging | 选择正确方程并移项

    Write the relevant formula from the data booklet before substituting. Rearrange the equation symbolically first, then insert numbers. This reduces substitution slips and shows the examiner your logic even if arithmetic fails.

    代入前先将数据手册中的相关公式写下来。先用符号移项,再代入数字。这样可以减少代换错误,即使计算失误,考官也能看清你的逻辑。

    For example, to find final temperature in a thermal energy transfer where Q = mcΔθ, rearrange to Δθ = Q/(mc) before putting in Q = 12 500 J, m = 0.45 kg, c = 4200 J/(kg·°C).

    例如,要在热传递中求末温,Q = mcΔθ,先移项得到Δθ = Q/(mc),再代入Q = 12 500 J, m = 0.45 kg, c = 4200 J/(kg·°C)。

    v = u + at

    v² = u² + 2as

    s = ut + ½at²

    These three kinematic equations suffice for constant linear acceleration. Check whether the question involves time; if not, the second equation is fastest.

    以上三个运动学方程足以处理匀变速直线运动。判断问题是否涉及时间;若不涉及,第二个方程最快。

    4. Kinematics in One and Two Dimensions | 一维与二维运动学

    Treat horizontal and vertical motions independently. Projectile problems require splitting initial velocity into vₓ = v cos θ and vᵧ = v sin θ. Vertical motion uses a = −g, while horizontal motion has constant velocity.

    水平与竖直运动要分开处理。抛体问题需要将初速度分解为vₓ = v cos θ和vᵧ = v sin θ。竖直方向加速度a = −g,水平方向则匀速。

    A ball kicked at 22 m/s at 35° above the ground: vₓ = 22 cos 35° ≈ 18.0 m/s, vᵧ = 22 sin 35° ≈ 12.6 m/s. Time of flight t = 2vᵧ/g = 2×12.6/9.81 ≈ 2.57 s. Range = vₓ × t = 18.0 × 2.57 ≈ 46.3 m.

    一只足球以22 m/s的速度、仰角35°踢出:vₓ = 22 cos 35° ≈ 18.0 m/s,vᵧ = 22 sin 35° ≈ 12.6 m/s。飞行时间t = 2vᵧ/g = 2×12.6/9.81 ≈ 2.57 s。射程 = vₓ × t = 18.0 × 2.57 ≈ 46.3 m。

    When an object is projected horizontally from a height, uᵧ = 0, and the time to hit the ground depends only on height: t = √(2h/g).

    物体从高处水平抛出时,uᵧ = 0,落地时间仅取决于高度:t = √(2h/g)。

    5. Newton’s Laws and Free‑Body Force Calculations | 牛顿定律与受力分析计算

    Draw a free‑body diagram showing all forces as arrows from the centre of mass. Resolve inclined plane weight: component down the slope mg sin θ, normal reaction mg cos θ. Apply ΣF = ma along the direction of acceleration.

    画出受力图,以质心为起点用箭头表示所有力。斜面上重力分解:沿斜面分量mg sin θ,法向反作用力mg cos θ。沿加速度方向运用ΣF = ma。

    For a 5.0 kg block sliding down a 30° incline with friction μ = 0.25: weight component = 5×9.81×sin30° = 24.5 N. Normal R = 5×9.81×cos30° = 42.5 N. Friction f = μR = 0.25×42.5 = 10.6 N. Net force = 24.5 − 10.6 = 13.9 N. Acceleration a = 13.9/5.0 = 2.78 m/s².

    一个5.0 kg的滑块沿30°斜面下滑,摩擦系数μ = 0.25:重力下滑分量 = 5×9.81×sin30° = 24.5 N。法向支持力R = 5×9.81×cos30° = 42.5 N。摩擦力f = μR = 0.25×42.5 = 10.6 N。合力 = 24.5 − 10.6 = 13.9 N。加速度a = 13.9/5.0 = 2.78 m/s²。

    Connected‑body problems (pulleys) require writing ΣF = ma for each mass and solving simultaneous equations. Tension is the same throughout a light inextensible string.

    连接体问题(滑轮)需要分别对每个物体写ΣF = ma,解联立方程组。轻绳不可伸长时绳中张力处处相等。

    6. Work, Energy Conservation and Power | 功、能量守恒与功率

    Work done = F × d × cos θ, where θ is the angle between force and displacement. Kinetic energy Eₖ = ½mv², gravitational potential energy Eₚ = mgΔh. When non‑conservative forces like friction do work, use Wₙ.ₑₜ = ΔEₖ + ΔEₚ.

    做功 = F × d × cos θ,其中θ为力与位移的夹角。动能Eₖ = ½mv²,重力势能Eₚ = mgΔh。当存在摩擦力等非保守力做功时,用Wₙₑₜ = ΔEₖ + ΔEₚ。

    Example: a 1200 kg car travels at 20 m/s. Brakes apply a constant 6000 N force. Using energy, ½mv² = F × d → ½×1200×20² = 6000 × d, so d = 40 m. This avoids kinematic multiple steps.

    例题:一辆1200 kg的汽车以20 m/s行驶,刹车施加恒力6000 N。用能量法:½mv² = F × d → ½×1200×20² = 6000 × d,解得d = 40 m。这省去了运动学多步计算。

    Power P = work done/time = F × v for constant velocity. A lift raising 800 kg at 1.5 m/s needs power P = mg × v = 800×9.81×1.5 ≈ 11 800 W.

    功率P = 做功/时间 = F × v (匀速时)。电梯以1.5 m/s提升800 kg,所需功率P = mg × v = 800×9.81×1.5 ≈ 11 800 W。

    7. Momentum, Impulse and Collisions | 动量、冲量与碰撞

    Momentum p = mv is a vector. Impulse J = F Δt = Δp. In collisions, use conservation of momentum: m₁u₁ + m₂u₂ = m₁v₁ + m₂v₂. For elastic collisions, kinetic energy is also conserved; otherwise it is inelastic.

    动量p = mv是矢量。冲量J = F Δt = Δp。碰撞中使用动量守恒:m₁u₁ + m₂u₂ = m₁v₁ + m₂v₂。弹性碰撞动能同时守恒;非弹性碰撞只动量守恒。

    A 0.15 kg tennis ball arrives at 35 m/s and is struck back at 45 m/s. Contact time 0.030 s. Impulse = Δp = 0.15×(45 − (−35)) = 0.15×80 = 12 kg·m/s. Average force = 12/0.030 = 400 N.

    一个0.15 kg的网球以35 m/s飞来,以45 m/s被击回,接触时间0.030 s。冲量 = Δp = 0.15×(45 − (−35)) = 0.15×80 = 12 kg·m/s。平均力 = 12/0.030 = 400 N。

    Remember to assign a positive direction and treat reversing velocities as negative.

    要设定正方向,反向速度取负值。

    8. Circular Motion and Gravitational Fields | 圆周运动与引力场

    Centripetal force is F = mv²/r = mω²r, where v = ωr. Always identify the physical origin of this force: tension, friction, gravity, or normal reaction.

    向心力F = mv²/r = mω²r,且v = ωr。务必明确向心力的实际来源:张力、摩擦力、引力或法向反作用力。

    For a satellite, gravitational force provides centripetal force: GMm/r² = mv²/r, giving v = √(GM/r). For Earth, GM = gR², so near the surface vₒᵣᵦᵢₜ = √(gR).

    对卫星而言,万有引力提供向心力:GMm/r² = mv²/r,得v = √(GM/r)。对地球,GM = gR²,所以近地轨道速度vₒᵣᵦᵢₜ = √(gR)。

    Gravitational field strength g = F/m = GM/r². Weightlessness in orbit occurs because the astronaut is in free fall, not because gravity is zero.

    引力场强度g = F/m = GM/r²。轨道中的失重并非因为引力为零,而是因为宇航员处于自由落体状态。

    9. Electric Fields, Potential and Circuits | 电场、电势与电路

    Electric field strength E = F/q = V/d for uniform fields. Force on a charge F = qE; on an electron F = eE. Work done W = qV, electronvolt 1 eV = 1.60×10⁻¹⁹ J.

    电场强度E = F/q = V/d(匀强电场)。电荷受力F = qE;电子受力F = eE。做功W = qV,电子伏特1 eV = 1.60×10⁻¹⁹ J。

    Circuit analysis relies on Kirchhoff’s laws: ΣI(in) = ΣI(out), ΣV(loop) = 0. For series resistors Rₜₑₛₑᵣᵢₑ = R₁ + R₂. For parallel, 1/Rₜₑₛₑ = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂. Internal resistance r causes terminal voltage V = ε − Ir.

    电路分析依靠基尔霍夫定律:ΣI(入) = ΣI(出),ΣV(回路) = 0。串联电阻Rₜₑₛₑᵣᵢₑ = R₁ + R₂;并联电阻1/Rₜₑₛₑ = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂。内阻r使端电压V = ε − Ir。

    Power in a resistor P = IV = I²R = V²/R. Calculate total energy using E = P t.

    电阻功率P = IV = I²R = V²/R。用E = P t计算总能量。

    Quantity Series Parallel
    Current I Same Splits
    Voltage V Splits Same
    Resistance R Adds Reciprocal sum

    10. Magnetic Fields and Electromagnetic Induction | 磁场与电磁感应

    Force on a current‑carrying wire F = BIL sin θ, where θ is angle between B and current. For a moving charge F = Bqv sin θ. Use Fleming’s left‑hand rule for direction.

    通电导线所受安培力F = BIL sin θ,θ为B与电流的夹角。运动电荷受力F = Bqv sin θ。用弗莱明左手定则判断方向。

    Magnetic flux Φ = BA cos φ, flux linkage = NΦ. Faraday’s law: ε = −N ΔΦ/Δt. Lenz’s law gives the induced current direction opposing the change in flux.

    磁通量Φ = BA cos φ,磁链 = NΦ。法拉第定律:ε = −N ΔΦ/Δt。楞次定律指出感应电流方向总是阻碍磁通量的变化。

    For a conductor of length L moving perpendicularly through field B at speed v, induced emf ε = BLv. Calculate power dissipated in a load connected to the generator using P = ε²/R.

    长度为L的导线垂直穿过磁场B、以速度v运动时,感应电动势ε = BLv。外接负载时用P = ε²/R计算耗散功率。

    11. Thermal Physics and Ideal Gases | 热物理与理想气体

    Specific heat capacity Q = mcΔθ, latent heat Q = mL. When substance changes phase, temperature remains constant. Use the absolute temperature T in Kelvin for all gas calculations.

    比热容Q = mcΔθ,潜热Q = mL。物态变化过程中温度保持不变。气体计算中一律使用开尔文绝对温标T。

    Ideal gas equation pV = nRT, where n = mass/molar mass. Boltzmann constant k = R/Nₐ. The average kinetic energy of a molecule Eₖ = 3/2 kT.

    理想气体方程pV = nRT,其中n = 质量/摩尔质量。玻尔兹曼常数k = R/Nₐ。分子的平均动能Eₖ = 3/2 kT。

    When combining gas laws, hold the constant variables: Boyle’s law p₁V₁ = p₂V₂ at constant T; Charles’ law V₁/T₁ = V₂/T₂ at constant p; pressure law p₁/T₁ = p₂/T₂ at constant V.

    使用气体定律时要注意不变条件:波义耳定律等温p₁V₁ = p₂V₂;查理定律等压V₁/T₁ = V₂/T₂;压强定律等容p₁/T₁ = p₂/T₂。

    12. Simple Harmonic Motion and Wave Calculations | 简谐运动与波动计算

    SHM defining equation: a = −ω²x. Displacement x = A sin(ωt) or x = A cos(ωt). Maximum speed vₘₐₓ = ωA, maximum acceleration aₘₐₓ = ω²A. Period of a mass‑spring T = 2π√(m/k), pendulum T = 2π√(L/g).

    简谐运动特征方程:a = −ω²x。位移x = A sin(ωt)或x = A cos(ωt)。最大速度vₘₐₓ = ωA,最大加速度aₘₐₓ = ω²A。弹簧振子周期T = 2π√(m/k),单摆T = 2π√(L/g)。

    Wave speed v = fλ. Intensity I ∝ A² and I = P/(4πr²) for a spherical wave. Refractive index n = c/v. Snell’s law n₁ sin θ₁ = n₂ sin θ₂. Critical angle sin C = 1/n.

    波速v = fλ。强度I ∝ A²,球面波I = P/(4πr²)。折射率n = c/v。斯涅耳定律n₁ sin θ₁ = n₂ sin θ₂。临界角sin C = 1/n。

    Double‑slit fringe spacing Δx = λD/d. Be careful with units: D and d in metres, λ in metres. Diffraction grating d sin θ = nλ gives sharp maxima.

    双缝干涉条纹间距Δx = λD/d。注意单位:D和d用米,λ用米。衍射光栅d sin θ = nλ给出尖锐极大值。

    📚 IGCSE CCEA Physics: Thermodynamics Key Points | IGCSE CCEA 物理:热力学 考点精讲

    Thermodynamics is the study of heat, temperature, and energy transfer, providing essential concepts for understanding how thermal energy moves and changes in physical systems. In the CCEA IGCSE Physics specification, this topic covers kinetic theory, specific heat capacity, latent heat, modes of heat transfer, gas laws, and the absolute temperature scale. Mastery of these ideas not only prepares you for examinations but also builds intuition for everyday phenomena, from boiling a kettle to weather patterns.

    热力学研究热量、温度和能量传递,为理解热能在物理系统中如何流动和变化提供了核心概念。在 CCEA IGCSE 物理课程中,这一主题涵盖分子运动论、比热容、潜热、热传递方式、气体定律以及绝对温标。掌握这些知识不仅能为考试做好准备,还能培养对日常现象的直觉,从烧开水到天气模式的变化。

    1. Temperature and Heat | 温度与热量

    Temperature is a measure of the average kinetic energy of particles in a substance. It does not depend on the amount of material; it tells us how hot or cold an object is. The SI unit of temperature is the kelvin (K), but degrees Celsius (°C) are also widely used, with the conversion T(K) = θ(°C) + 273.

    温度是物质内粒子平均动能的量度。它不依赖于物质的量,只告诉我们物体的冷热程度。温度的国际单位是开尔文(K),但摄氏度(°C)也广泛使用,换算关系为 T(K) = θ(°C) + 273。

    Heat, on the other hand, is the thermal energy transferred from a hotter body to a colder one because of a temperature difference. Heat is measured in joules (J). It is not the same as temperature; a large iceberg has more internal energy than a small cup of boiling water, but its temperature is much lower.

    而热量是指由于温差而从较热物体传递到较冷物体的热能。热量的单位是焦耳(J)。热量与温度不是同一回事;一个大冰山的内能比一小杯沸水更多,但其温度要低得多。

    A key concept: thermal equilibrium occurs when two objects in contact reach the same temperature and no net heat flows between them.

    一个关键概念:当两个接触的物体达到相同温度且彼此之间没有净热量流动时,就达到了热平衡。

    2. Kinetic Theory of Matter | 物质的分子运动论

    The kinetic particle model explains the behaviour of solids, liquids, and gases in terms of particle arrangement and motion. In solids, particles are held in fixed positions by strong forces and can only vibrate. In liquids, particles are close together but can move past each other. In gases, particles are far apart, move randomly at high speeds, and have negligible forces between collisions.

    分子运动论用粒子的排列和运动来解释固体、液体和气体的行为。固体中,粒子被强大的作用力固定在位,只能振动。液体中,粒子彼此靠近但可以相互滑动。气体中,粒子相距很远,高速随机运动,碰撞之间的作用力可忽略不计。

    The pressure exerted by a gas is due to countless collisions of particles with the walls of the container. Increasing temperature raises the average kinetic energy of particles, leading to more frequent and forceful collisions, which increases pressure if volume is fixed.

    气体施加的压强源于粒子与容器壁无数次碰撞。升高温度会增加粒子的平均动能,导致碰撞更频繁、更剧烈,若体积固定则压强增大。

    Brownian motion provides evidence for the kinetic theory: tiny visible particles (e.g., smoke particles) move erratically when suspended in a fluid because they are bombarded by invisible moving molecules.

    布朗运动为分子运动论提供了证据:微小可见粒子(如烟雾粒子)悬浮在流体中时,因受到不可见运动分子的撞击而做无规则运动。

    3. Thermal Expansion | 热膨胀

    Most substances expand when heated and contract when cooled. In solids, expansion occurs because particles vibrate more vigorously and the average separation between them increases. Linear expansion (change in length) is given by ΔL = α L₀ ΔT, where α is the coefficient of linear expansion. This effect is utilized in bimetallic strips, which bend when heated because one metal expands more than the other.

    多数物质热胀冷缩。固体膨胀是因为粒子振动更剧烈,平均间距增大。线膨胀量 ΔL = α L₀ ΔT,其中 α 是线膨胀系数。该效应被用于双金属片,受热时因两金属膨胀程度不同而弯曲。

    Liquids generally expand more than solids for the same temperature rise. This is the principle behind liquid-in-glass thermometers. Water shows an anomalous expansion: it contracts when heated from 0°C to 4°C, reaching maximum density at 4°C, then expands. This explains why ice floats and why aquatic life can survive under frozen surfaces.

    同等温升下,液体通常比固体膨胀更多。这是液体玻璃温度计的原理。水表现出反常膨胀:从 0°C 加热到 4°C 时体积收缩,在 4°C 密度最大,随后膨胀。这解释了为什么冰能漂浮以及水生生物为何能在冰面下存活。

    Gases show the largest expansion and can be described by the ideal gas laws. Thermal expansion must be considered in engineering structures, leaving expansion gaps in bridges and railway lines.

    气体膨胀最显著,可用理想气体定律描述。工程结构中必须考虑热膨胀,如桥梁和铁轨要留伸缩缝。

    4. Specific Heat Capacity | 比热容

    The specific heat capacity (c) of a material is the energy required to raise the temperature of 1 kg of the substance by 1 K (or 1°C). It is measured in J kg⁻¹ K⁻¹. The greater the specific heat capacity, the more energy needed to change its temperature.

    比热容(c)是指将 1 kg 物质的温度升高 1 K(或 1°C)所需的能量,单位是 J kg⁻¹ K⁻¹。比热容越大,改变其温度所需的能量越多。

    The heat energy transferred is calculated using:

    Q = m c ΔT

    where Q is the heat transferred (J), m is mass (kg), c is specific heat capacity (J kg⁻¹ K⁻¹), and ΔT is the temperature change (K or °C).

    其中 Q 是传递的热量(J),m 是质量(kg),c 是比热容(J kg⁻¹ K⁻¹),ΔT 是温度变化(K 或 °C)。

    Water has a very high specific heat capacity (about 4200 J kg⁻¹ K⁻¹), making it excellent for cooling systems and for moderating coastal climates. The specific heat capacity of metals is much lower, so they heat up and cool down quickly.

    水的比热容很高(约 4200 J kg⁻¹ K⁻¹),使其成为出色的冷却剂,并能调节沿海气候。金属的比热容低得多,因此它们会迅速升温和冷却。

    An electrical experiment to determine c involves measuring the energy supplied (E = P × t or V I t) and the temperature rise of a known mass of material, assuming minimal heat loss.

    测定比热容的电学实验涉及测量供给的能量(E = P × t 或 V I t)以及已知质量物质的温升,同时要假设热量损失极小。

    5. Latent Heat | 潜热

    Latent heat is the energy absorbed or released during a change of state at constant temperature. During melting or boiling, the energy supplied does not raise the kinetic energy—it breaks the bonds between particles, increasing internal potential energy.

    潜热是在恒定温度下物态变化时吸收或释放的能量。在熔化或沸腾过程中,供给的能量并不增加动能,而是破坏粒子间的键,增加内势能。

    There are two types: specific latent heat of fusion (Lf) for melting/freezing, and specific latent heat of vaporisation (Lv) for boiling/condensing. The energy involved is:

    Q = m L

    where L is the specific latent heat in J kg⁻¹.

    有两种类型:熔化/凝固时的比熔解热(Lf),以及沸腾/凝结时的比汽化热(Lv)。所涉及的能量为 Q = m L,其中 L 是比潜热,单位 J kg⁻¹。

    For water, Lf is about 334 000 J kg⁻¹ and Lv is about 2 260 000 J kg⁻¹. The large value of Lv explains why steam burns are more severe than boiling water burns: steam must first condense, releasing a huge amount of latent heat, before cooling.

    水的 Lf 约为 334 000 J kg⁻¹,Lv 约为 2 260 000 J kg⁻¹。Lv 的值很大,这解释了为什么蒸汽烫伤比沸水烫伤更严重:蒸汽必须首先冷凝,释放大量潜热,然后才冷却。

    Cooling by evaporation occurs when the most energetic particles escape from a liquid surface, leaving the remaining liquid with lower average kinetic energy, hence a lower temperature.

    蒸发致冷的发生机制是液面能量最高的粒子逃逸,留下的液体平均动能降低,因此温度下降。

    6. Heat Transfer: Conduction | 热传递:传导

    Conduction is the transfer of thermal energy through a solid (or between substances in contact) without overall movement of the material. It relies on particle vibrations and, in metals, on free electrons. Metals are good conductors because delocalised electrons move rapidly through the lattice, transferring kinetic energy. Non-metals and gases are poor conductors (insulators) because they lack free electrons.

    传导是指在没有物质整体运动的情况下,热量通过固体(或接触物质之间)的传递。它依靠粒子振动,在金属中还依靠自由电子。金属是良导体,因为离域电子在晶格中快速移动,传递动能。非金属和气体缺乏自由电子,是差导体(绝缘体)。

    Materials such as glass, wood, air, and plastics are insulators. Trapped air is an excellent insulator, which is why double glazing, fur, and fibre glass insulation are effective.

    玻璃、木材、空气和塑料等材料是绝缘体。滞留空气是极好的绝缘体,这就是双层玻璃、毛皮以及玻璃纤维隔热有效的原因。

    The rate of heat conduction through a material depends on its thermal conductivity, cross-sectional area, temperature difference, and thickness. This can be summarised qualitatively but not required in quantitative detail for IGCSE.

    通过材料的热传导速率取决于其热导率、横截面积、温差和厚度。IGCSE 只需要定性理解,而不要求定量细节。

    7. Heat Transfer: Convection | 热传递:对流

    Convection is the transfer of heat in fluids (liquids and gases) by the movement of the fluid itself. When a fluid is heated, it expands, becomes less dense, and rises. Cooler, denser fluid sinks to take its place, setting up a convection current. This process cannot occur in solids because the particles cannot move freely.

    对流是通过流体(液体和气体)自身的运动来传递热量。流体受热时膨胀,密度变小而上升。较冷、较密的流体下沉以取代其位置,形成对流循环。这一过程在固体中不能发生,因为粒子不能自由移动。

    Everyday examples of convection include sea breezes, central heating radiators, and the rising of hot air balloons. In a room, the heating element is placed low to allow warm air to rise and circulate.

    对流在日常生活中的例子包括海陆风、中央供暖散热器和热气球上升。在房间里,加热器放在低处,让暖空气上升并循环。

    Convection plays a vital role in many natural phenomena, such as ocean currents and atmospheric circulation, driving weather and climate patterns on a large scale.

    对流在许多自然现象中起着关键作用,如洋流和大气环流,在更大尺度上驱动着天气和气候模式。

    8. Heat Transfer: Radiation | 热传递:辐射

    Thermal radiation is the transfer of energy by electromagnetic waves, mainly in the infrared region. Unlike conduction and convection, radiation does not require a medium; it can travel through a vacuum. This is how the Sun’s energy reaches Earth. All objects emit thermal radiation, with the rate and spectrum depending on their temperature and surface properties.

    热辐射是通过电磁波(主要在红外波段)传递能量。与传导和对流不同,辐射不需要介质,可以在真空中传播。这就是太阳能量到达地球的方式。所有物体都发出热辐射,其速率和光谱取决于温度和表面性质。

    Dark, matt surfaces are good absorbers and good emitters of radiation. Light, shiny surfaces are poor absorbers and poor emitters but good reflectors. This principle is used in designing solar panels (dark surfaces) and in keeping drinks hot (shiny surfaces to reduce radiation loss).

    暗色、粗糙的表面是辐射的良好吸收体和良好发射体。浅色、光亮的表面是差吸收体和差发射体,但却是良好的反射体。这一原理被应用于太阳能电池板的设计(暗色表面)和保持饮品热度(光亮表面以减少辐射损失)。

    The rate of emission also depends on the temperature difference between the object and its surroundings. Newton’s Law of Cooling describes that the rate of heat loss is proportional to this temperature difference.

    发射率还取决于物体与环境的温差。牛顿冷却定律指出,热损失率与该温差成正比。

    9. Gas Laws (Boyle’s, Charles’, Pressure Law) | 气体定律(波义耳、查理、压力定律)

    The behaviour of an ideal gas is described by the relationship between pressure (p), volume (V), and absolute temperature (T). These laws hold for a fixed mass of gas.

    理想气体的行为由压强(p)、体积(V)和绝对温度(T)之间的关系描述。这些定律适用于固定质量的气体。

    Boyle’s Law states that for a fixed mass of gas at constant temperature, pressure is inversely proportional to volume:

    p V = constant

    波义耳定律指出,对于一定质量的气体,在温度恒定时,压强与体积成反比:p V = 常数。

    Charles’ Law states that for a fixed mass of gas at constant pressure, volume is directly proportional to absolute temperature:

    V / T = constant

    查理定律指出,对于一定质量的气体,在压强恒定时,体积与绝对温度成正比:V / T = 常数。

    The Pressure Law (Gay-Lussac’s Law) states that for a fixed mass of gas at constant volume, pressure is directly proportional to absolute temperature:

    p / T = constant

    压力定律(盖-吕萨克定律)指出,对于一定质量的气体,在体积恒定时,压强与绝对温度成正比:p / T = 常数。

    These three can be combined into the ideal gas equation:

    p V / T = constant

    这三者可以结合为理想气体方程:p V / T = 常数。

    Practical investigations of these laws involve collecting gas in a syringe or tube, varying temperature or volume, and recording pressure or volume changes while keeping one variable constant.

    这些定律的实验研究包括用注射器或管子收集气体,改变温度或体积,记录压强或体积的变化,同时保持另一个变量不变。

    10. Absolute Zero and Kelvin Scale | 绝对零度与开氏温标

    Absolute zero (0 K, about −273°C) is the lowest possible temperature, at which particles have minimum kinetic energy and the pressure of an ideal gas would theoretically be zero. The Kelvin scale is defined such that 0 K corresponds to absolute zero, and the size of one kelvin is the same as one degree Celsius.

    绝对零度(0 K,约 −273°C)是可能的最低温度,此时粒子的动能最低,理想气体的压强理论上为零。开尔文温标的定义是,0 K 对应绝对零度,且 1 开尔文的大小与 1 摄氏度相同。

    All gas law calculations must use temperature in kelvin. To convert from Celsius: T(K) = θ(°C) + 273. The absolute scale is fundamental because it makes the relationship between temperature and volume/pressure directly proportional.

    所有气体定律的计算都必须使用开尔文温度。从摄氏度换算的公式为:T(K) = θ(°C) + 273。绝对温标至关重要,因为它使得温度与体积/压强的关系成正比。

    Extrapolating graphs of volume or pressure against temperature (in °C) leads to the same absolute zero point (−273°C), confirming its significance. Real gases liquefy before reaching absolute zero, so the ideal gas behaviour is only an approximation.

    将体积或压强对温度(°C)的图表外推,会得到同一个绝对零点(−273°C),这证实了其重要性。真实气体在达到绝对零度之前就会液化,因此理想气体行为只是一种近似。

    11. Internal Energy | 内能

    Internal energy is the total energy stored by the particles in a system. It comprises the kinetic energy of particles (due to their motion) and the potential energy (due to the forces between particles). When a substance is heated, its internal energy increases; when it cools, internal energy decreases.

    内能是系统中粒子储存的总能量,包括粒子的动能(源于运动)和势能(源于粒子间作用力)。物质受热时内能增加;冷却时内能减少。

    During a change of state, internal energy changes without a temperature change. The energy supplied increases the potential energy component by overcoming intermolecular forces, not the kinetic energy. This is why temperature stays constant during melting or boiling.

    物态变化期间,内能变化但温度不变。供给的能量克服分子间作用力,增加了势能部分,而非动能。这就是熔化或沸腾时温度保持恒定的原因。

    The concept of internal energy links to the first law of thermodynamics, which is touched upon as energy conservation: the increase in internal energy equals the heat supplied minus the work done by the system. For IGCSE, qualitative understanding is sufficient.

    内能的概念与热力学第一定律(能量守恒)相联系:内能的增加等于供给的热量减去系统对外做的功。IGCSE 要求的是定性理解。

    12. Practical Applications and Experiments | 实际应用与实验

    Understanding thermodynamics allows us to design and explain many real-world devices: thermometers rely on the expansion of liquid or gas; refrigerators use evaporation and condensation to transfer heat; car engines operate by converting thermal energy from fuel into mechanical work; wind and ocean currents distribute heat around the planet.

    理解热力学有助于我们设计和解释许多实际设备:温度计依靠液体或气体的膨胀工作;冰箱利用蒸发和冷凝来传递热量;汽车发动机通过将燃料的热能转化为机械功来运行;风和洋流将热量散布到全球各地。

    Common experiments in CCEA IGCSE include determining the specific heat capacity of a metal block using an electric heater and a joulemeter, measuring the latent heat of fusion of ice using a calorimeter, and investigating Boyle’s law using a gas syringe and pressure gauge. In all these, controlling variables and minimising heat loss/gain are essential for accuracy.

    CCEA IGCSE 中常见实验包括:用电加热器和焦耳计测定金属块的比热容,用量热器测量冰的熔解热,以及用气体注射器和压力计研究波义耳定律。在所有这些实验中,控制变量并尽量减少热量损失或吸收,对于保证准确性至关重要。

    Insulation methods—such as wrapping with cotton wool, using a lid, or placing the apparatus in a vacuum flask—help reduce heat exchange with the surroundings, ensuring that the energy measured largely contributes to the intended process.

    保温方法——如包裹棉花、使用盖子或将装置放在真空瓶中——有助于减少与外界的热交换,从而确保所测能量大部分用于目标过程。

    The International A-Level Physics Unit 3 practical skills paper often reveals common pitfalls in students’ experimental understanding. The January 2021 examiner’s report provides invaluable feedback. This article deconstructs the key concepts highlighted, covering experiment planning, data handling, uncertainty analysis, graphing, and evaluation. By addressing these typical errors, you can significantly boost your performance.

    国际A-Level物理第三单元实验技能考试往往暴露出学生在实验理解中的常见误区。2021年1月的考官报告提供了宝贵的反馈。本文解构其中强调的关键概念,涵盖实验计划、数据处理、不确定度分析、绘图和评估。通过针对这些典型错误,你可以显著提高成绩。

    1. Understanding the Purpose of Unit 3 | 理解Unit 3的目的

    Unit 3 is a practical examination that evaluates your ability to plan investigations, process data, analyse graphs, calculate uncertainties, and suggest improvements. The examiner expects you to think like a scientist, not just to recall facts. It usually includes a written plan of an experiment, analysis of given data, and evaluation of a method.

    第三单元是实践考试,评估你计划研究、处理数据、分析图表、计算不确定度以及提出改进建议的能力。考官希望你像科学家一样思考,而不仅仅是回忆事实。试卷通常包含实验的书面计划、给定数据的分析以及对方法的评估。

    Commonly, the paper includes a sequence of tasks demanding clear communication of your reasoning. Understanding what each part demands helps you allocate time wisely and answer precisely. The examiner’s report stressed that many students lost marks by not addressing the specific requirement of each question.

    通常,试卷包含一系列任务,要求清晰传达你的推理。理解每个部分的要求有助于你明智分配时间并精确作答。考官报告强调,许多学生因未能回应每个问题的具体要求而失分。

    2. Common Mistakes in Planning Experiments | 实验计划中的常见错误

    Many candidates lose marks by not clearly identifying independent, dependent, and control variables. For instance, when investigating the period of a pendulum, the independent variable is the length, the dependent is the period, and controls include mass, amplitude (angle ≤ 10°), and environmental conditions.

    许多考生因未能清晰识别自变量、因变量和控制变量而失分。例如,在研究单摆周期时,自变量是摆长,因变量是周期,控制变量包括摆球质量、摆角(≤ 10°)和环境条件。

    Another typical flaw is omitting a method to vary the independent variable systematically over a sufficient range. You must describe exactly how you will change the length, measure it with a metre rule, and note the number of readings (e.g., at least 6). Also, always include a labelled diagram of the apparatus.

    另一个典型缺陷是忽略系统、在足够范围内改变自变量的方法。你必须准确描述如何改变长度、使用米尺测量并记录读数次数(例如至少6次)。此外,始终包含标注清晰的仪器示意图。

    Ensure you mention repeating readings and calculating an average to reduce random error. The examiner’s report noted that vague plans without practical details severely limit marks. A plan like ‘measure the time and

    1. Kinematics Equations | 运动学方程

    The four SUVAT equations model uniformly accelerated motion along a straight line. They link displacement (s), initial velocity (u), final velocity (v), acceleration (a), and time (t). The equations are: v = u + at, s = ut + ½at², v² = u² + 2as, and s = ½(u + v)t. In AQA problems, always define a positive direction and remember that acceleration due to gravity is g = 9.81 m s⁻² near Earth’s surface.

    四个 SUVAT 方程描述了匀加速直线运动,关联位移(s)、初速度(u)、末速度(v)、加速度(a)和时间(t)。方程分别为:v = u + at、s = ut + ½at²、v² = u² + 2as 和 s = ½(u + v)t。在 AQA 试题中,务必先规定正方向,并记住地球表面附近的重力加速度 g = 9.81 m s⁻²。

    A stone is thrown vertically upwards with an initial speed of 14 m s⁻¹ from ground level. Calculate the maximum height reached and the time taken to return to the ground. Taking up as positive, u = 14 m s⁻¹, a = -9.81 m s⁻², v = 0 at maximum height. Using v² = u² + 2as gives 0 = 14² + 2(-9.81)s, so s = 196 / 19.62 = 9.99 m. For the total time of flight, we can use s = ut + ½at² with s = 0: 0 = 14t – 4.905t², factorising gives t(14 – 4.905t) = 0, hence t = 0 or t = 14 / 4.905 = 2.85 s.

    一块石头以 14 m s⁻¹ 的初速度从地面竖直向上抛出。计算到达的最大高度和返回地面所需的时间。取向上为正,u = 14 m s⁻¹,a = -9.81 m s⁻²,在最高点 v = 0。利用 v² = u² + 2as 得到 0 = 14² + 2(-9.81)s,解得 s = 196 / 19.62 = 9.99 m。对于全程飞行时间,使用 s = ut + ½at² 并令 s = 0:0 = 14t – 4.905t²,提取公因式得 t(14 – 4.905t) = 0,因此 t = 0 或 t = 14 / 4.905 = 2.85 s。

    2. Newton’s Laws and Friction | 牛顿定律与摩擦力

    Newton’s second law, F = ma, is the foundation of force problems. On inclined planes, the weight component along the slope is mg sinθ, and the normal reaction is mg cosθ. Friction is given by f ≤ μR, where μ is the coefficient of friction and R is the normal contact force. Many AQA questions combine these to find acceleration or limiting angles.

    牛顿第二定律 F = ma 是力学问题的基础。在斜面上,沿斜面的重力分量为 mg sinθ,法向反作用力为 mg cosθ。摩擦力由 f ≤ μR 给出,其中 μ 为摩擦系数,R 为法向接触力。许多 AQA 题目会结合这些关系求解加速度或临界角度。

    A 5.0 kg block is placed on a rough slope inclined at 25° to the horizontal. The coefficient of static friction between the block and the surface is 0.45. Determine whether the block will slide, and if it does, find its acceleration down the slope when μ becomes kinetic and equals 0.35. The downhill component of weight = mg sin25° = 5.0 × 9.81 × sin25° = 20.7 N. Maximum static friction = μₛR = 0.45 × (5.0 × 9.81 × cos25°) = 0.45 × 44.5 N = 20.0 N. Since the downhill force (20.7 N) exceeds 20.0 N, the block slides. Kinetic friction = 0.35 × 44.5 = 15.6 N. Resultant force = 20.7 – 15.6 = 5.1 N, giving a = F/m = 5.1 / 5.0 = 1.02 m s⁻².

    一个 5.0 kg 的物块放在与水平面成 25° 的粗糙斜面上。物块与表面之间的静摩擦系数为 0.45。判断物块是否会滑动,若会滑动,当动摩擦系数变为 0.35 时,求其沿斜面下滑的加速度。沿斜面的重力分量 = mg sin25° = 5.0 × 9.81 × sin25° = 20.7 N。最大静摩擦力 = μₛR = 0.45 × (5.0 × 9.81 × cos25°) = 0.45 × 44.5 N = 20.0 N。因为下滑力(20.7 N)超过 20.0 N,物块会滑动。动摩擦力 = 0.35 × 44.5 = 15.6 N。合力 = 20.7 – 15.6 = 5.1 N,加速度 a = F/m = 5.1 / 5.0 = 1.02 m s⁻²。

    3. Work, Energy and Power | 功、能量和功率

    Energy principles often provide a quicker route than resolving forces. Kinetic energy Eₖ = ½mv², gravitational potential energy Eₚ = mgh, and work done W = Fs cosθ. Power is the rate of doing work: P = W/t = Fv. In AQA papers, you are expected to apply conservation of energy or the work-energy theorem to solve problems involving dissipative forces.

    能量方法通常比力的分解更快捷。动能 Eₖ = ½mv²,重力势能 Eₚ = mgh,做功 W = Fs cosθ。功率是做功的速率:P = W/t = Fv。在 AQA 试卷中,要求考生运用能量守恒或功能定理解决涉及耗散力的问题。

    A crane lifts a 250 kg load vertically at a constant speed of 0.80 m s⁻¹. Calculate the power output of the crane’s motor and the energy transferred in lifting the load through 12 m. Since speed is constant, the tension in the cable equals the weight: T = mg = 250 × 9.81 = 2452.5 N. Power P = Fv = 2452.5 × 0.80 = 1962 W (≈ 1.96 kW). The work done lifting through 12 m is W = Fs = 2452.5 × 12 = 29 430 J. Alternatively, using potential energy gain: mgh = 250 × 9.81 × 12 = 29 430 J, confirming the answer.

    一台起重机以 0.80 m s⁻¹ 的恒定速度垂直起吊 250 kg 的重物。计算起重机电机的输出功率以及将重物提升 12 m 所传递的能量。由于速度恒定,缆绳张力等于重力:T = mg = 250 × 9.81 = 2452.5 N。功率 P = Fv = 2452.5 × 0.80 = 1962 W(约 1.96 kW)。提升 12 m 所做的功 W = Fs = 2452.5 × 12 = 29 430 J。另一种方法,重力势能的增加:mgh = 250 × 9.81 × 12 = 29 430 J,两者一致。

    4. Conservation of Momentum | 动量守恒

    In a closed system with no external forces, total momentum before a collision equals total momentum after. Momentum p = mv is a vector quantity, so direction must be accounted for. Collisions may be elastic (kinetic energy conserved) or inelastic (some kinetic energy dissipated). Typical AQA calculations involve recoil speeds, explosions, or bullet-block interactions.

    在没有外力的封闭系统中,碰撞前的总动量等于碰撞后的总动量。动量 p = mv 是矢量,因此必须考虑方向。碰撞可分为弹性碰撞(动能守恒)和非弹性碰撞(部分动能耗散)。AQA 典型计算题涉及反冲速度、爆炸或子弹与物块作用。

    A 0.60 kg trolley moving at 2.5 m s⁻¹ to the right collides with a stationary 0.90 kg trolley. After the inelastic collision they move off together. Find the common speed and the kinetic energy lost. Using momentum conservation: (0.60 × 2.5) + (0.90 × 0) = (0.60 + 0.90)v, so v = 1.5 / 1.5 = 1.0 m s⁻¹. Initial kinetic energy = ½ × 0.60 × 2.5² = 1.875 J. Final kinetic energy = ½ × 1.50 × 1.0² = 0.75 J. Energy lost = 1.875 – 0.75 = 1.125 J.

    一辆 0.60 kg 的小车以 2.5 m s⁻¹ 的速度向右运动,与一辆静止的 0.90 kg 小车发生非弹性碰撞后粘连在一起。求它们的共同速度和损失的动能。根据动量守恒:(0.60 × 2.5) + (0.90 × 0) = (0.60 + 0.90)v,解得 v = 1.5 / 1.5 = 1.0 m s⁻¹。初始动能 = ½ × 0.60 × 2.5² = 1.875 J。末动能 = ½ × 1.50 × 1.0² = 0.75 J。能量损失 = 1.875 – 0.75 = 1.125 J。

    5. Circular Motion | 圆周运动

    An object moving in a circle at constant speed experiences an acceleration towards the centre: centripetal acceleration a = v²/r = ω²r, where v is linear speed, r is radius, and ω is angular speed in rad s⁻¹. Centripetal force F = mv²/r = mω²r is provided by tension, friction, gravity, or the normal reaction. Exam problems often ask for the minimum speed to complete a vertical loop.

    物体以恒定速率做圆周运动时具有指向圆心的向心加速度:a = v²/r = ω²r,其中 v 是线速率,r 是半径,ω 是角速度(单位 rad s⁻¹)。向心力 F = mv²/r = mω²r 可由张力、摩擦力、重力或法向反作用力提供。考试常要求计算完成竖直圆周运动的最小速率。

    A 0.40 kg mass is whirled in a horizontal circle of radius 0.80 m on a frictionless table, attached to a string that passes through a hole and supports a hanging 0.60 kg mass. Find the speed required to keep the hanging mass stationary. Tension in the string must equal the weight of the hanging mass: T = 0.60 × 9.81 = 5.886 N. This tension provides the centripetal force for the whirling mass: T = mv²/r → 5.886 = 0.40 × v² / 0.80 → v² = (5.886 × 0.80) / 0.40 = 11.772 → v = 3.43 m s⁻¹.

    一个 0.40 kg 的物体在光滑桌面上做水平圆周运动,半径为 0.80 m,通过绳子穿过小孔悬挂一个 0.60 kg 的重物。求使悬挂重物保持静止所需的速率。绳中张力必须等于悬挂重物的重量:T = 0.60 × 9.81 = 5.886 N。该张力为旋转物体提供向心力:T = mv²/r → 5.886 = 0.40 × v² / 0.80 → v² = (5.886 × 0.80) / 0.40 = 11.772 → v = 3.43 m s⁻¹。

    6. Simple Harmonic Motion | 简谐运动

    Simple harmonic motion (SHM) occurs when acceleration is directly proportional to displacement from equilibrium and directed towards it: a = -ω²x. The time period for a mass-spring system is T = 2π√(m/k) and for a simple pendulum T = 2π√(l/g). Maximum speed v_max = ωA and maximum acceleration a_max = ω²A, where A is amplitude. AQA questions frequently require energy calculations using E_total = ½mω²A².

    简谐运动(SHM)是指加速度与离开平衡位置的位移成正比且方向相反的运动:a = -ω²x。弹簧振子的周期 T = 2π√(m/k),单摆的周期 T = 2π√(l/g)。最大速率 v_max = ωA,最大加速度 a_max = ω²A,其中 A 为振幅。AQA 题目常要求用总能量 E_total = ½mω²A² 进行能量计算。

    A 0.25 kg mass on a spring oscillates with amplitude 0.030 m and period 0.50 s. Determine the spring constant and the maximum kinetic energy of the mass. From T = 2π√(m/k), we solve for k: T² = 4π² m/k, so k = 4π² m / T² = 4π² × 0.25 / 0.50² = (π² × 1.0) / 0.25 = 39.5 N m⁻¹. Angular frequency ω = 2π/T = 2π/0.50 = 4π rad s⁻¹. Maximum kinetic energy equals total energy: E = ½mω²A² = 0.5 × 0.25 × (4π)² × 0.030² = 0.125 × 16π² × 0.0009 = 0.125 × 0.142 = 0.0178 J.

    一个 0.25 kg 的物体连接在弹簧上,以振幅 0.030 m、周期 0.50 s 振动。求弹簧的劲度系数和物体的最大动能。由 T = 2π√(m/k) 解出 k:T² = 4π² m/k,因此 k = 4π² m / T² = 4π² × 0.25 / 0.50² = 39.5 N m⁻¹。角频率 ω = 2π/T = 2π/0.50 = 4π rad s⁻¹。最大动能等于总能量:E = ½mω²A² = 0.5 × 0.25 × (4π)² × 0.030² = 0.125 × 16π² × 0.0009 ≈ 0.0178 J。

    7. Electric Fields and Coulomb’s Law | 电场与库仑定律

    Coulomb’s law describes the force between two point charges: F = kQq/r², where k = 8.99×10⁹ N m² C⁻². Electric field strength is force per unit charge, E = F/q. In a uniform field between parallel plates, E = V/d, where V is the potential difference and d is plate separation. Work done on a charge moving through a potential difference is W = QV.

    库仑定律描述两个点电荷之间的作用力:F = kQq/r²,其中 k = 8.99×10⁹ N m² C⁻²。电场强度是单位电荷所受的力,E = F/q。在平行板间的匀强电场中,E = V/d,其中 V 是电势差,d 是板间距。电荷在电势差中移动所做的功为 W = QV。

    Two small charged spheres, one of +4.0 μC and the other of -6.0 μC, are separated by 0.25 m in a vacuum. Calculate the magnitude of the electrostatic force between them and state whether it is attractive or repulsive. Using Coulomb’s law: F = (8.99×10⁹) × (4.0×10⁻⁶) × (6.0×10⁻⁶) / (0.25)² = (8.99×10⁹) × (24×10⁻¹²) / 0.0625 = (215.76×10⁻³) / 0.0625 = 3.45 N. The charges have opposite signs, so the force is attractive.

    两个带电小球,一个带 +4.0 μC,另一个带 -6.0 μC,在真空中相距 0.25 m。计算它们之间静电力的大小,并说明是吸引力还是排斥力。根据库仑定律:F = (8.99×10⁹) × (4.0×10⁻⁶) × (6.0×10⁻⁶) / (0.25)² = (8.99×10⁹) × (24×10⁻¹²) / 0.0625 = 3.45 N。两电荷电性相反,因此是吸引力。

    8. Circuit Analysis and Resistive Networks | 电路分析与电阻网络

    Series and parallel resistor combinations form the basis of many circuit calculations. For series: R_total = R₁ + R₂ + …; for parallel: 1/R_total = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂ + … . Ohm’s law V = IR and Kirchhoff’s voltage and current laws are essential tools. Potential divider networks are particularly common in AQA problems, where the output voltage V_out = V_in × (R₂ / (R₁ + R₂)).

    串并联电阻组合是许多电路计算的基础。串联:R_total = R₁ + R₂ + …;并联:1/R_total = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂ + …。欧姆定律 V = IR 以及基尔霍夫电压和电流定律是必不可少的工具。分压器网络在 AQA 题目中尤为常见,其输出电压 V_out = V_in × (R₂ / (R₁ + R₂))。

    A 12.0 V battery of negligible internal resistance is connected to a network consisting of a 10 Ω resistor in series with a parallel combination of a 15 Ω and a 30 Ω resistor. Find the total current drawn from the battery and the potential difference across the 15 Ω resistor. The parallel section has resistance 1/R_p = 1/15 + 1/30 = 3/30 = 1/10, so R_p = 10 Ω. Total circuit resistance = 10 Ω + 10 Ω = 20 Ω. Total current I = V / R_total = 12.0 / 20 = 0.60 A. The potential difference across the parallel section is V_p = I × R_p = 0.60 × 10 = 6.0 V, and this is the voltage across the 15 Ω resistor.

    一个内阻可忽略的 12.0 V 电池连接到一个网络,该网络由一个 10 Ω 电阻与一个 15 Ω 和 30 Ω 的并联组合串联而成。求电池提供的总电流以及 15 Ω 电阻两端的电势差。并联部分电阻为 1/R_p = 1/15 + 1/30 = 3/30 = 1/10,故 R_p = 10 Ω。电路总电阻 = 10 Ω + 10 Ω = 20 Ω。总电流 I = V / R_total = 12.0 / 20 = 0.60 A。并联部分的电势差 V_p = I × R_p = 0.60 × 10 = 6.0 V,这也是 15 Ω 电阻两端的电压。

    9. Capacitors and Time Constant | 电容器与时间常数

    A capacitor stores charge Q = CV, and the energy stored is E = ½CV². The time constant for an RC circuit is τ = RC, representing the time for the charge or voltage to fall to 37% of its initial value during discharge. Exponential decay is modelled by Q = Q₀ e^{-t/RC} and V = V₀ e^{-t/RC}. AQA questions frequently ask for calculations of half-life or the time to reach a specific voltage.

    电容器储存电荷 Q = CV,储存的能量为 E = ½CV²。RC 电路的时间常数 τ = RC,代表放电过程中电荷或电压降至初始值 37% 所需的时间。指数衰减由 Q = Q₀ e^{-t/RC} 和 V = V₀ e^{-t/RC} 描述。AQA 试题经常要求计算半衰期或达到特定电压的时间。

    A 220 μF capacitor is charged to 9.0 V and then discharged through a 47 kΩ resistor. Calculate the time constant and the time required for the voltage to drop to 1.5 V. Time constant τ = RC = (220×10⁻⁶) × (47×10³) = 10.34 s. Using V = V₀ e^{-t/τ}, we set 1.5 = 9.0 e^{-t/10.34} → e^{-t/10.34} = 1.5/9.0 = 1/6. Taking natural logs: -t/10.34 = ln(1/6) = -ln6, so t = 10.34 × ln6 ≈ 10.34 × 1.7918 = 18.5 s.

    一个 220 μF 的电容器被充电至 9.0 V,然后通过一个 47 kΩ 的电阻放电。计算时间常数以及电压降至 1.5 V 所需的时间。时间常数 τ = RC = (220×10⁻⁶) × (47×10³) = 10.34 s。利用 V = V₀ e^{-t/τ},令 1.5 = 9.0 e^{-t/10.34} → e^{-t/10.34} = 1.5/9.0 = 1/6。取自然对数:-t/10.34 = ln(1/6) = -ln6,因此 t = 10.34 × ln6 ≈ 10.34 × 1.7918 = 18.5 s。

    10. Nuclear Physics and Radioactive Decay | 核物理与放射性衰变

    Radioactive decay follows an exponential law: N = N₀ e^{-λt}, where λ is the decay constant. Activity A = λN, and the half-life T₁/₂ = ln2 / λ. In AQA papers, you may be asked to convert between half-life and decay constant, or to find the age of a sample using carbon-dating principles. Always pay attention to units of time.

    放射性衰变遵循指数规律:N = N₀ e^{-λt},其中 λ 是衰变常量。活度 A = λN,半衰期 T₁/₂ = ln2 / λ。在 AQA 试卷中,可能要求在半衰期和衰变常量之间转换,或利用碳定年法原则求出样本的年代。要始终注意时间单位。

    A radioactive isotope has a half-life of 5.0 days. A sample initially contains 8.0×10¹⁵ nuclei. Calculate the decay constant in s⁻¹ and the number of nuclei remaining after 10 days. First convert half-life to seconds: T₁/₂ = 5.0 × 24 × 3600 = 4.32×10⁵ s. Decay constant λ = ln2 / T₁/₂ = 0.693 / (4.32×10⁵) = 1.60×10⁻⁶ s⁻¹. After 10 days (two half-lives), the fraction remaining is (1/2)² = 1/4, so nuclei remaining = 8.0×10¹⁵ × 1/4 = 2.0×10¹⁵.

    某种放射性同位素的半衰期为 5.0 天。一个样本最初含有 8.0×10¹⁵ 个原子核。计算以 s⁻¹ 为单位的衰变常量以及 10 天后剩余的原子核数。首先将半衰期转换为秒:T₁/₂ = 5.0 × 24 × 3600 = 4.32×10⁵ s。衰变常量 λ = ln2 / T₁/₂ = 0.693 / (4.32×10⁵) = 1.60×10⁻⁶ s⁻¹。10 天后(两个半衰期),剩余比例为 (1/2)² = 1/4,因此剩余原子核数 = 8.0×10¹⁵ × 1/4 = 2.0×10¹⁵。

    📚 OxfordAQA PH02 Experimental Skills: A Guide to Acing AS Physics Investigations | OxfordAQA PH02实验技能:AS物理实验探究高分指南

    The OxfordAQA AS Physics Unit 2 (PH02) examination often includes questions that assess your understanding of experimental methods, data analysis, and evaluation. These practical skills are not tested in a lab practical but via written questions based on common experiments. Mastering how to interpret mark schemes – specifically from the January 2023 PH02 mark scheme – can give you a huge advantage. This guide will break down the key expectations and strategies to help you maximise your marks in experimental investigation questions.

    OxfordAQA AS物理第二单元(PH02)考试常包含评估你对实验方法、数据分析和评价理解的问题。这些实践技能并非通过实验室操作测试,而是基于常见实验的书面问题来考查。掌握如何解读评分方案——特别是2023年1月PH02的评分方案——能为你带来巨大优势。本指南将分解关键要求和策略,助你在实验探究题中拿到最高分。

    1. Decoding the PH02 Mark Scheme for Experiments | 解读PH02实验评分方案

    Before attempting any practical question, it is critical to understand what the examiners are looking for. The mark scheme typically allocates marks for planning (identifying variables, suitable equipment), implementation (precautions, repeated readings), analysis (graph plotting, gradient calculation), and evaluation (comparing results, suggesting improvements). Always read the question carefully to see which specific skills are being targeted.

    在解答任何实验题之前,理解考官期望至关重要。评分方案通常会为计划(识别变量、合适仪器)、实施(注意事项、重复读数)、分析(绘图、计算斜率)和评价(比较结果、提出改进)分配分数。务必仔细读题,弄清具体考查哪些技能。

    Common command words include ‘describe’, ‘explain’, ‘determine’, and ‘evaluate’. ‘Describe an experiment’ requires a logical sequence of steps, while ‘evaluate’ demands a discussion of uncertainties and improvements. The mark scheme rewards precise physics language and practical detail, so avoid vague phrasing.

    常见的指令词包括“describe(描述)”、“explain(解释)”、“determine(确定)”和“evaluate(评价)”。“描述一个实验”需要有逻辑的步骤顺序,而“评价”则需要讨论不确定度和改进。评分方案奖励精准的物理术语和实际细节,因此避免含糊措辞。

    2. Planning: Identifying Variables and Making Predictions | 计划:识别变量与作出预测

    The independent variable (what you change), dependent variable (what you measure), and control variables (kept constant) must be clearly stated. For example, in an experiment to determine the resistivity of a wire, the independent variable is the length of the wire, the dependent variable is the potential difference (or current) and resistance, and controlled variables include the wire’s cross-sectional area and temperature. A valid prediction often stems from a known physics equation, such as R = ρL/A.

    必须清楚陈述自变量(你改变的变量)、因变量(你测量的变量)和控制变量(保持不变的变量)。例如,在测定导线电阻率的实验中,自变量为导线长度,因变量为电势差(或电流)和电阻,控制变量包括导线的横截面积和温度。有效的预测通常源自已知的物理方程,如R = ρL/A。

    Make sure you can rearrange the relevant equation into the form y = mx + c to predict the shape of a graph. For a wire, resistance R is proportional to length L, so a graph of R against L should be a straight line through the origin if temperature is constant. Explain why the line should pass through the origin: when L = 0, R = 0 (neglecting lead resistance).

    确保你能将相关方程化为y = mx + c的形式以预测图形形状。对于导线,电阻R与长度L成正比,因此若温度恒定,R-L图应是一条过原点的直线。解释为何线应过原点:当L = 0时,R = 0(忽略导线电阻)。

    3. Selecting Appropriate Apparatus and Measuring Techniques | 选择合适仪器与测量技术

    Choose instruments that offer the required precision and range. For measuring the diameter of a wire, a micrometer screw gauge is preferred over a ruler because it can read to 0.01 mm, reducing the percentage uncertainty. A metre rule is suitable for lengths up to 1 m, with a typical precision of ±1 mm. When measuring time for oscillations, a stopwatch or light gates can be used, but always mention the use of fiducial markers to improve accuracy.

    选择能提供所需精度和量程的仪器。测量导线直径时,优先使用螺旋测微器而非直尺,因为其读数可至0.01 mm,减小了百分不确定度。米尺适用于1米以内的长度,典型精度为±1 mm。测量振荡时间时,可使用秒表或光门,但务必提及使用基准标记以提高准确性。

    Always justify your choice of instrument in terms of reducing uncertainty. For instance, a digital multimeter can measure resistance directly, but a voltmeter-ammeter method may be more instructive and allow calculation using R = V/I. Using a longer wire or a larger mass in a spring system reduces the fractional uncertainty in length or extension.

    始终从减小不确定度的角度说明选择仪器的理由。例如,数字万用表可直接测量电阻,但伏安法更具教学意义,可用R = V/I计算。使用更长的导线或较大的质量在弹簧系统中可减小长度或伸长量的分数不确定度。

    Don’t forget to consider safety: mention low voltages to avoid heating in a wire, or soft landing surfaces in free-fall experiments. Although safety is not always directly marked, it shows good experimental practice and can support a method mark.

    别忘了考虑安全:提及使用低电压以避免导线发热,或在自由落体实验中使用软着陆面。虽然安全性不总是直接给分,但它体现良好的实验习惯,可辅助获得方法分。

    4. Minimising Random and Systematic Errors | 减少随机误差与系统误差

    Random errors can be reduced by taking repeat readings and calculating a mean. Explain that plotting a graph and drawing a best-fit line also averages out random fluctuations. Systematic errors, such as a zero error on a micrometer or parallax error when reading a voltmeter, must be eliminated by careful calibration or by subtracting the zero reading from all measurements.

    通过重复测量并计算平均值可减少随机误差。解释绘图和画最佳拟合线也能平均掉随机波动。系统误差,如螺旋测微器的零位误差或读伏特计时的视差,必须通过仔细校准或从所有测量值中减去零读数来消除。

    A common systematic error in dynamics experiments is friction not being fully compensated. In an investigation of Newton’s second law, the track should be tilted slightly until the trolley moves at constant speed without an accelerating force. This compensates for friction.

    动力学实验常见系统误差是摩擦力未被完全补偿。在研究牛顿第二定律时,应略微倾斜轨道,直至小车在无加速力时能匀速运动,从而补偿摩擦力。

    下表归纳了常见PH02实验的系统误差及补救措施:

    Experiment Systematic Error Correction
    Simple pendulum to find g Measuring length from support to centre of bob incorrectly Measure to top and bottom, average, or use a set square
    Spring constant k Zero error on force meter Check and adjust zero before loading masses
    Resistivity of a wire Heating effect increasing resistance Use small current, switch off between readings
    Young modulus Wire not perfectly straight, kinks Pre-stretch the wire slightly before taking readings

    5. Recording Data: Tables, Significant Figures and Units | 记录数据:表格、有效数字和单位

    Construct a clear table with appropriate headings, including units separated by a forward slash, e.g., Length L / m. Record all raw data to the same number of significant figures consistent with the measuring instrument’s precision. For example, if a micrometer reads to 0.01 mm, record diameter readings as 0.50, 0.52, etc., not 0.5. Include a column for calculated quantities, and ensure consistent significant figures throughout.

    绘制清晰的表格,表头需含单位并以斜线分隔,如 Length L / m。所有原始数据记录的有效数字位数应与测量仪器的精度一致。例如,若螺旋测微器读数为0.01 mm,直径读数应记录为0.50、0.52等,而非0.5。为计算量增加一列,并确保全程有效数字一致。

    Repeated readings should be shown, and the mean value calculated. Mark schemes often award a mark for calculating mean values correctly and adjusting significant figures appropriately. For instance, if three diameter readings are 0.42 mm, 0.44 mm, and 0.43 mm, the mean is 0.43 mm (not 0.43333 mm). The number of significant figures in the mean should match the raw data.

    应展示重复读数并计算平均值。评分方案常对正确计算平均值和合理调整有效数字给分。例如,若三次直径读数为0.42 mm、0.44 mm和0.43 mm,平均值为0.43 mm(而非0.43333 mm)。平均值的有效数字位数应与原始数据一致。

    📚 Faraday’s Law for CIE GCSE Physics | CIE GCSE 物理:法拉第定律考点精讲

    Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction is a cornerstone of the CIE GCSE Physics syllabus, explaining how changing magnetic fields can drive electric currents without a battery. This guide breaks down the key concepts, equations, and common exam questions to help you master the topic with confidence.

    法拉第电磁感应定律是 CIE GCSE 物理课程的核心内容,它解释了如何通过变化的磁场在没有电池的情况下产生电流。本指南将详细拆解关键概念、公式和常见考题,帮助你自信掌握这个主题。

    1. What is Electromagnetic Induction? | 什么是电磁感应?

    Electromagnetic induction occurs when a conductor cuts magnetic field lines, or when the magnetic field around a conductor changes, producing an induced electromotive force (EMF). This effect was discovered by Michael Faraday and is the principle behind generators and transformers.

    当导体切割磁感线,或导体周围的磁场发生变化时,就会产生感应电动势(EMF),这种现象称为电磁感应。它由迈克尔·法拉第发现,是发电机和变压器背后的基本原理。

    For an EMF to be induced, the conductor and magnetic field must move relative to each other. A stationary magnet next to a coil of wire produces no induced EMF; movement is essential.

    要产生感应电动势,导体与磁场之间必须有相对运动。将磁铁静止放在线圈旁边不会产生感应电动势,关键要有移动。

    2. Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction | 法拉第电磁感应定律

    Faraday’s law states that the magnitude of the induced EMF is directly proportional to the rate of change of magnetic flux linkage. In simpler terms, the faster the magnetic field changes, the greater the voltage generated.

    法拉第定律指出,感应电动势的大小与磁链的变化率成正比。简单来说,磁场变化得越快,产生的电压就越大。

    The term ‘flux linkage’ refers to the product of the number of turns in a coil and the magnetic flux passing through it. For a coil with N turns and flux Φ, flux linkage = NΦ.

    “磁链”指的是线圈匝数与穿过线圈的磁通量的乘积。对于一个匝数为 N、磁通量为 Φ 的线圈,磁链 = NΦ。

    3. Understanding Magnetic Flux (Φ) | 理解磁通量(Φ)

    Magnetic flux is a measure of the quantity of magnetic field passing through a given area. It is calculated as Φ = B × A, where B is the magnetic flux density (in teslas) and A is the area perpendicular to the field (in m²). The unit of flux is the weber (Wb).

    磁通量衡量穿过某一给定面积的磁场总量,计算式为 Φ = B × A,其中 B 是磁通量密度(单位特斯拉),A 是与磁场垂直的面积(单位 m²)。磁通量的单位是韦伯(Wb)。

    If the area is not perpendicular to the field, only the perpendicular component contributes to the flux. In GCSE problems, fields are usually uniform and perpendicular, so Φ = BA.

    如果面积不垂直于磁场,则只有垂直分量对磁通量有贡献。在 GCSE 的题目中,磁场通常是均匀且垂直的,因此直接用 Φ = BA。

    4. Rate of Change of Flux and Induced EMF | 磁通量变化率与感应电动势

    The crucial factor determining the induced EMF is not the amount of flux itself, but how quickly it changes. A large flux that stays constant produces zero EMF. Only a changing flux, ΔΦ/Δt, causes induction.

    决定感应电动势大小的关键因素不是磁通量本身,而是它的变化有多快。恒定的强磁通量不会产生电动势,只有变化的磁通量 ΔΦ/Δt 才会引发感应。

    You can increase the rate of change of flux by moving the magnet faster, using a stronger magnet, or increasing the number of turns on the coil. All of these boost the induced EMF.

    你可以通过更快移动磁铁、使用更强的磁铁或增加线圈匝数来提高磁通变化率,这些都会增强感应电动势。

    5. Lenz’s Law and the Direction of Induced EMF | 楞次定律与感应电动势的方向

    Lenz’s law gives the direction of the induced EMF and current: the induced current always flows in a direction that opposes the change in magnetic flux that produced it. This is why a minus sign often appears in the equation.

    楞次定律指明了感应电动势和电流的方向:感应电流的方向总是阻碍引起它的磁通量变化。这就是公式中常出现负号的原因。

    For example, if a north pole approaches a coil, the coil becomes a north pole to repel the incoming magnet, opposing the increase in flux. When the magnet is pulled away, the coil becomes a south pole to attract it, opposing the decrease.

    例如,当磁铁 N 极靠近线圈时,线圈产生 N 极以排斥靠近的磁铁,阻碍磁通量增加;当磁铁被拉开时,线圈又产生 S 极以吸引磁铁,阻碍磁通量减少。

    6. The Faraday Equation E = N × ΔΦ / Δt | 法拉第方程 E = N × ΔΦ / Δt

    The magnitude of the induced EMF can be calculated using the equation, often written as:

    感应电动势的大小可用以下公式计算,通常写作:

    induced EMF = N × (ΔΦ / Δt)

    where N is the number of turns on the coil, ΔΦ is the change in magnetic flux (Wb), and Δt is the time taken for that change (s). The resulting EMF is in volts (V).

    其中 N 是线圈匝数,ΔΦ 是磁通量的变化量(Wb),Δt 是该变化所用的时间(s)。得到的电动势单位为伏特(V)。

    Some exam boards include a negative sign to represent Lenz’s law, but at GCSE level you are usually asked for the magnitude. Always read the question carefully.

    有些考试局会加上负号以体现楞次定律,但在 GCSE 阶段通常只要求计算大小。答题时请仔细阅读题意。

    7. Factors Affecting Induced EMF | 影响感应电动势的因素

    Four main factors determine the size of the induced EMF in a coil-magnet system: the number of turns in the coil, the strength of the magnetic field, the speed of relative motion, and the area of the coil (which affects flux linkage).

    决定线圈-磁铁系统中感应电动势大小的四个主要因素是:线圈匝数、磁场强度、相对运动速度以及线圈面积(影响磁链)。

    • More turns (N) → larger EMF
    • 更多匝数(N)→ 更大的电动势
    • Stronger magnet → larger change in Φ → larger EMF
    • 更强的磁铁 → 更大的 Φ 变化 → 更大的电动势
    • Faster motion → smaller Δt → larger EMF
    • 更快的运动 → 更小的 Δt → 更大的电动势

    In a generator, rotating the coil faster or using a larger magnetic field both increase the output voltage.

    在发电机中,加快线圈旋转或使用更强的磁场都能提高输出电压。

    8. Application: The AC Generator | 应用:交流发电机

    A simple AC generator uses Faraday’s law to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. A coil of wire rotates between the poles of a permanent magnet, causing the flux linkage to change continuously.

    简单的交流发电机利用法拉第定律将机械能转化为电能。线圈在永磁体两极之间转动,使磁链不断变化。

    As the coil turns, the angle between the coil’s area and the magnetic field changes, producing a sinusoidal (alternating) EMF. Slip rings and brushes transfer this current to an external circuit.

    线圈转动时,其面积与磁场之间的角度不断改变,产生正弦(交变)电动势。滑环和电刷将电流引出到外部电路。

    The induced EMF is zero when the plane of the coil is perpendicular to the field (maximum flux, but zero rate of change), and maximum when the plane is parallel to the field (zero flux but fastest rate of change).

    当线圈平面与磁场垂直时,磁通量最大但变化率为零,感应电动势为零;当线圈平面与磁场平行时,磁通量为零但变化率最快,电动势最大。

    9. Transformers and Faraday’s Law | 变压器与法拉第定律

    Transformers rely on electromagnetic induction to change the voltage of an alternating current. A changing current in the primary coil creates a changing magnetic flux in the iron core, which induces an EMF in the secondary coil.

    变压器依靠电磁感应来改变交流电的电压。初级线圈中变化的电流在铁芯中产生变化的磁通量,进而在次级线圈中感应出电动势。

    For an ideal transformer, the ratio of voltages is equal to the ratio of turns:

    对理想变压器而言,电压比等于匝数比:

    Vₚ / Vₛ = Nₚ / Nₛ

    Here Vₚ and Vₛ are the primary and secondary voltages, and Nₚ and Nₛ are the corresponding number of turns. This relationship comes directly from Faraday’s law applied to both coils sharing the same rate of flux change.

    这里 Vₚ 和 Vₛ 分别是初级和次级电压,Nₚ 和 Nₛ 是对应的匝数。这一关系直接来自对两个共享同一磁通变化率的线圈应用法拉第定律。

    Transformers only work with alternating current, because direct current would produce a constant flux and no induction in the secondary.

    变压器只能在交流电下工作,因为直流电产生的是恒定磁通量,不会在次级线圈中引起感应。

    10. Worked Example: Calculating Induced EMF | 解题示例:计算感应电动势

    A coil of 200 turns links a magnetic flux that changes from 0.02 Wb to 0.08 Wb in 0.4 seconds. Calculate the average induced EMF.

    一个 200 匝的线圈,其磁通量在 0.4 秒内从 0.02 Wb 变化到 0.08 Wb。计算平均感应电动势。

    Step 1: Change in flux, ΔΦ = 0.08 – 0.02 = 0.06 Wb.

    步骤 1:磁通变化量,ΔΦ = 0.08 – 0.02 = 0.06 Wb。

    Step 2: Time taken, Δt = 0.4 s.

    步骤 2:所用时间,Δt = 0.4 s。

    Step 3: Rate of change = ΔΦ / Δt = 0.06 / 0.4 = 0.15 Wb/s.

    步骤 3:变化率 = ΔΦ / Δt = 0.06 / 0.4 = 0.15 Wb/s。

    Step 4: EMF = N × (ΔΦ / Δt) = 200 × 0.15 = 30 V.

    步骤 4:电动势 = N × (ΔΦ / Δt) = 200 × 0.15 = 30 V。

    Always double-check your units and conversion of time. Common mistakes include using initial flux instead of the change.

    记得检查单位和时间换算。常见错误是直接代入初始磁通量而不是变化量。

    11. Exam Tips and Common Mistakes | 考试技巧与常见错误

    Be precise with language: do not write ‘current is created’ — say ‘an EMF is induced’, which can drive a current if the circuit is complete. Confusing flux with flux linkage is a frequent error.

    措辞要准确:不要说“产生电流”,而要说“感应出电动势”,若电路闭合,电动势才能驱动电流。混淆磁通量与磁链也是常见错误。

    When explaining Lenz’s law, always describe the opposition to the change in flux, not the flux itself. Use terms like ‘to oppose the increase/decrease in flux’ in your written answers.

    在解释楞次定律时,一定要描述阻碍的是磁通量的变化,而不是磁通量本身。书面答案中应使用“阻碍磁通量的增加/减少”这样的表述。

    For transformer problems, check whether you are asked for voltage or turns ratio. A step-up transformer increases voltage but decreases current; the power in an ideal transformer remains constant.

    处理变压器问题时,看清题目要求计算电压比还是匝数比。升压变压器提高电压但降低电流,理想变压器的功率保持不变。

    12. Quick Revision Summary | 快速复习总结

    Faraday’s law: induced EMF ∝ rate of change of flux linkage (NΦ). Lenz’s law gives opposition direction. Key equation: EMF = N × ΔΦ / Δt. Applications include generators and transformers. Remember, no change in flux means no induction.

    法拉第定律:感应电动势 ∝ 磁链(NΦ)的变化率。楞次定律给出阻碍变化的方向。核心公式:电动势 = N × ΔΦ / Δt。应用包括发电机和变压器。记住,没有磁通量的变化就没有感应。

    📚 IGCSE Edexcel Physics: Ideal Gases Key Points | IGCSE Edexcel 物理:理想气体 考点精讲

    Ideal gases are a fundamental topic in the IGCSE Edexcel Physics syllabus, linking the microscopic behaviour of particles to macroscopic measurable quantities such as pressure, volume and temperature. Understanding the assumptions of the kinetic particle model and the three gas laws – Boyle’s law, Charles’s law and the pressure law – is essential for exam success. This guide breaks down every key point, from absolute zero to the combined gas equation, using clear explanations, practical examples and tips for graph interpretation.

    理想气体是 IGCSE Edexcel 物理考纲中的核心知识点,它将微观粒子行为与压强、体积和温度等宏观可测量量联系起来。理解分子运动论模型的假设以及三大气体定律——波义耳定律、查理定律和压强定律——是考试成功的关键。本考点精讲从绝对零度到综合气体方程,用清晰的解释、实例和图像分析技巧帮助你逐一突破。

    1. What is an Ideal Gas? | 什么是理想气体?

    An ideal gas is a theoretical gas that perfectly follows the gas laws under all conditions of temperature and pressure. Real gases approximate ideal behaviour at low pressure and high temperature, when the particles are far apart and interactions are negligible. In an ideal gas, the particles are considered as perfectly elastic, point-like spheres that take up no volume and exert no attractive forces on each other.

    理想气体是一种理论气体,它在所有温度和压强条件下都完美遵循气体定律。真实气体在低气压和高温时接近理想行为,此时粒子间距远、相互作用可忽略。在理想气体模型中,粒子被视为完全弹性的质点,不占体积且彼此间无吸引力。

    2. Kinetic Particle Model Assumptions | 分子运动论模型假设

    To explain gas behaviour, the kinetic particle model makes several key assumptions: (1) Gas particles move randomly and rapidly in straight lines. (2) Collisions between particles and with the container walls are perfectly elastic – kinetic energy is conserved. (3) The volume of the particles themselves is negligible compared to the volume of the container. (4) There are no forces of attraction between particles. (5) The average kinetic energy of the particles is directly proportional to the absolute temperature of the gas.

    为解释气体行为,分子运动论模型提出以下关键假设:(1) 气体粒子快速无规则地沿直线运动。(2) 粒子之间以及粒子与容器壁的碰撞是完全弹性的——动能守恒。(3) 粒子本身的体积相比于容器体积可以忽略不计。(4) 粒子之间没有吸引力。(5) 粒子的平均动能与气体的绝对温度成正比。

    3. Gas Pressure and Temperature in the Particle Model | 粒子模型下的气体压强与温度

    Gas pressure arises from the force exerted by particles colliding with the walls of the container. Each collision imparts a tiny force; the total force per unit area is the pressure. If the temperature rises, the average speed and kinetic energy of the particles increase. This results in more frequent and harder collisions with the walls, therefore increasing the pressure (if volume is fixed). Lowering the temperature reduces particle kinetic energy and decreases pressure.

    气体压强源于粒子撞击容器壁所施加的力。每次碰撞产生微小作用力,单位面积上的总力就是压强。如果温度升高,粒子的平均速率和动能增加。这导致与器壁的碰撞更频繁、更猛烈,因此压强升高(若体积一定)。降低温度会减小粒子动能,压强也随之下降。

    4. Absolute Zero and the Kelvin Scale | 绝对零度与开尔文温标

    Absolute zero (0 K) is the temperature at which the pressure of an ideal gas would theoretically reach zero. It corresponds to -273 °C. The Kelvin scale is an absolute thermodynamic scale where 0 K is absolute zero and temperature intervals are equal to Celsius degrees. To convert from Celsius to Kelvin: T(K) = T(°C) + 273. All gas law calculations must use Kelvin temperatures, because doubling the Celsius temperature does not mean doubling the kinetic energy.

    绝对零度 (0 K) 是理想气体压强理论归零的温度,对应于 -273 °C。开尔文温标是热力学绝对温标,0 K 为绝对零度,温度间隔与摄氏度相同。摄氏度转换为开尔文:T(K) = T(°C) + 273。所有气体定律计算必须使用开尔文温度,因为摄氏度翻倍并不意味着动能翻倍。

    5. Boyle’s Law: Pressure–Volume Relationship | 波义耳定律:压强与体积的关系

    Boyle’s law states that for a fixed mass of gas at constant temperature, the pressure (p) is inversely proportional to the volume (V). Mathematically: p × V = constant, or p₁V₁ = p₂V₂. If the volume of a gas is doubled, the pressure halves, because the particles hit the walls less often. The graph of p against V is a curve (hyperbola), while a graph of p against 1/V is a straight line through the origin, confirming inverse proportionality.

    波义耳定律指出,对于一定质量的气体,在温度不变时,压强 (p) 与体积 (V) 成反比。数学表达:p × V = 常数,或 p₁V₁ = p₂V₂。若气体体积加倍,压强减半,因为粒子撞击容器壁的频率减半。p-V 图像为一条曲线(双曲线),而 p-(1/V) 图像则是一条过原点的直线,证明反比关系。

    6. Charles’s Law: Volume–Temperature Relationship | 查理定律:体积与温度的关系

    Charles’s law states that for a fixed mass of gas at constant pressure, the volume (V) is directly proportional to the absolute temperature (T). Written as: V / T = constant, or V₁/T₁ = V₂/T₂. A graph of volume against temperature (in °C) is a straight line that does not pass through the origin; it intercepts the temperature axis at –273 °C, indicating absolute zero. When plotted against Kelvin, the line passes through the origin.

    查理定律指出,对于一定质量的气体,在压强不变时,体积 (V) 与绝对温度 (T) 成正比。写作:V / T = 常数,或 V₁/T₁ = V₂/T₂。体积与摄氏温度图像是一条不通过原点的直线,与温度轴交于 –273 °C,指示绝对零度。当横坐标为开尔文时,图像通过原点。

    7. Pressure Law: Pressure–Temperature Relationship | 压强定律:压强与温度的关系

    The pressure law (sometimes called Gay-Lussac’s law in this context) states that for a fixed mass of gas at constant volume, the pressure (p) is directly proportional to the absolute temperature (T). Formula: p / T = constant, or p₁/T₁ = p₂/T₂. Again, the p–T graph in Kelvin passes through the origin, while the p–θ (°C) graph intersects the temperature axis at –273 °C. This law explains why a sealed aerosol can may explode if heated – the pressure rises with temperature.

    压强定律(有时称盖-吕萨克定律)指出,对于一定质量的气体,体积不变时,压强 (p) 与绝对温度 (T) 成正比。公式:p / T = 常数,或 p₁/T₁ = p₂/T₂。同样,p-T 开尔文图像过原点,而 p-θ (°C) 图像交温度轴于 –273 °C。该定律解释了为何密封气雾罐受热可能爆炸——压强随温度升高。

    8. The Combined Gas Equation | 综合气体方程

    When all three variables (p, V, T) change for a fixed mass of gas, we use the combined gas equation: (p₁ × V₁) / T₁ = (p₂ × V₂) / T₂. This formula integrates Boyle’s, Charles’s and the pressure laws. For any calculation, temperatures must be converted to Kelvin. The constant on the right side is sometimes expressed as pV/T = constant, valid for a fixed amount of ideal gas.

    当一定质量气体的三个变量(p, V, T)同时变化时,我们使用综合气体方程:(p₁ × V₁) / T₁ = (p₂ × V₂) / T₂。该公式整合了波义耳、查理和压强定律。所有计算都必须将温度转化为开尔文。右侧常数有时写作 pV/T = 常数,对固定质量的理想气体成立。

    9. Experimental Investigation of Gas Laws | 气体定律实验探究

    For Boyle’s law, a common experiment uses a sealed syringe with a pressure gauge. The plunger is pushed to vary the volume, and pressure is recorded. A graph of p vs 1/V confirms the relationship. For Charles’s law, a capillary tube with a trapped air column is heated in a water bath; volume is measured as a function of temperature. For the pressure law, a sealed round-bottom flask connected to a pressure sensor is immersed in water baths of different temperatures. All temperatures must be recorded in Kelvin.

    波义耳定律常用密封注射器连接压强传感器进行实验。推动活塞改变体积,记录压强变化,绘制 p-1/V 图像验证。查理定律则利用毛细管中的空气柱在水浴中加热,测量不同温度下的体积。压强定律将密封圆底烧瓶连接压强传感器,浸入不同温度的水浴。所有温度记录需转为开尔文。

    10. Explaining Gas Laws with Kinetic Theory | 用分子运动论解释气体定律

    Boyle’s law: Decreasing the volume reduces the space for particles, so they hit the walls more frequently, increasing pressure. Temperature constant means average speed unchanged. Charles’s law: Raising temperature increases average kinetic energy and speed; to keep pressure constant, the volume must expand so that collisions occur over a larger area and at a reduced frequency, balancing the harder impacts. Pressure law: At constant volume, increased temperature means faster particles, leading to more frequent and harder collisions, raising pressure.

    波义耳定律:体积减小,粒子活动空间变小,撞击器壁更频繁,压强升高。温度不变意味着平均速率不变。查理定律:升温增加平均动能和速率;为保持压强恒定,体积必须膨胀,使碰撞分散在更大面积并降低频率,平衡更强的撞击。压强定律:恒定体积下,升温使粒子更快,碰撞更频繁更有力,压强升高。

    11. Real Gases vs Ideal Gases | 真实气体与理想气体

    Real gases deviate from ideal behaviour at very high pressures and very low temperatures. Under high pressure, particles are forced close together, so their own volume becomes significant and attractive forces start to play a role. At low temperatures, the particles move slowly enough that intermolecular attractions cause the pressure to be lower than predicted. For IGCSE, you simply need to state that ideal gas behaviour is a good approximation under ordinary laboratory conditions, and that real gases approach ideality when pressure is low and temperature is high.

    真实气体在极高压和极低温时会偏离理想行为。高压下粒子被迫靠得很近,自身的体积变得不容忽视,且吸引力开始起作用。低温时粒子运动足够缓慢,分子间吸引力使实际压强低于理论值。IGCSE 只需说明在普通实验室条件下,理想气体行为是一个良好近似,且真实气体在低气压和高温时趋近理想。

    12. Summary and Key Exam Tips | 考点总结与应试技巧

    Always convert Celsius to Kelvin (add 273) before applying any gas law formula. Use the combined gas equation when multiple variables change. For graph questions, identify the correct axes and whether the plot should be linear through the origin. Be able to describe the kinetic explanation for pressure and temperature changes in terms of particle collisions and kinetic energy. The concept of absolute zero and its determination by extrapolation of gas law data is a frequently examined point. Remember: pV/T = constant for a fixed mass of ideal gas.

    在使用任何气体定律公式之前,务必将摄氏度转换为开尔文(加 273)。当多个变量同时变化时,使用综合气体方程。图像题要识别正确坐标轴,并判断是否为过原点直线。能用粒子碰撞和动能的角度解释压强和温度变化的分子论原因。绝对零度的概念及通过气体定律数据外推来测定,是常考知识点。记住:对于一定质量的理想气体,pV/T = 常数。

    1. Kinematics | 运动学

    v = u + a t

    The equation v = u + a t links final velocity v to initial velocity u, constant acceleration a and time t. It is used when three of the variables are known.

    方程 v = u + a t 描述了末速度 v 与初速度 u、匀加速度 a 和时间 t 的关系。当四个量中有三个已知时,可用该式求解第四个量。

    s = u t + ½ a t²

    This gives the displacement s of an object under constant acceleration in time t. The term u t represents the distance due to initial velocity, while ½ a t² accounts for additional displacement caused by acceleration.

    此式给出物体在匀加速度下,经过时间 t 的位移 s。其中 u t 是由初速度产生的位移,而 ½ a t² 是由加速度引起的额外位移。

    v² = u² + 2 a s

    It relates final velocity, initial velocity, acceleration and displacement without involving time. Useful for problems where time is not given.

    11. Data, Measurement and Uncertainty | 数据、测量与不确定度

    If Q = a ± Δa and R = b ± Δb, then:

    For addition: Q + R = (a + b) ± (Δa + Δb). For multiplication: Q × R ≈ a b ± (a b)(Δa/a + Δb/b). Absolute uncertainties add in addition; relative (percentage) uncertainties add in multiplication.

    若 Q = a ± Δa,R = b ± Δb,则相加时:Q + R = (a + b) ± (Δa + Δb)。相乘时:Q × R ≈ a b ± (a b)(Δa/a + Δb/b)。加减法用绝对不确定度相加,乘除法用相对(百分)不确定度相加。

    mean = Σ xᵢ / n

    The mean of n measurements xᵢ is the sum divided by n. Standard deviation s = √[ Σ (xᵢ – mean)² / (n – 1) ] estimates the spread of data.

    n 个测量值 xᵢ 的平均值等于总和除以 n。标准差 s = √[ Σ (xᵢ – mean)² / (n – 1) ] 用于估计数据的分散程度。

    % uncertainty = (absolute uncertainty / measured value) × 100%

    Converting between absolute and percentage uncertainty is crucial for combining errors. Always quote uncertainties to one or two significant figures.

    📚 AS Physics Insert 2 (Jan22) Concept Analysis | AS物理插入资料2 (2022年1月) 概念解析

    The AS Physics Paper 2 Insert (Jan22) provides essential data, experimental setups, and graphs that test students’ ability to interpret and analyse physical measurements. This article breaks down the key concepts behind typical insert content, covering data interpretation, linearisation, error analysis, and practical techniques. Mastering these ideas will help you answer related exam questions with confidence.

    AS物理卷二插入资料 (2022年1月) 提供了关键数据、实验装置和图表,考查学生解读和分析物理测量的能力。本文将解析典型插入内容背后的核心概念,涵盖数据解读、线性化、误差分析和实验技巧。掌握这些理念将助你信心十足地解答相关考试题目。

    1. Interpreting Data Tables in the Insert | 解读插入资料中的数据表格

    The insert often includes tables showing measurements such as force and extension for a spring, or current and voltage for a wire. You must understand how to identify independent, dependent, and controlled variables from the data layout. Pay attention to units and significant figures to avoid careless mistakes when plotting graphs or performing calculations.

    插入资料通常包含弹簧的力与伸长量、或导线的电流与电压等测量数据的表格。你必须理解如何从数据排列中识别自变量、因变量和控制变量。注意单位和有效数字,避免在绘图或计算时出现粗心错误。

    2. Linearising Equations to Extract Constants | 线性化方程以提取常数

    Many AS Physics experiments require you to manipulate an equation into the form y = mx + c. For example, the time period of a pendulum T = 2π√(L/g) can be squared to give T² = (4π²/g)L, so plotting T² against L yields a straight line through the origin with gradient 4π²/g. Similarly, for a discharging capacitor, ln V = -t/RC + ln V₀. Insert 2 may provide data that needs linearising.

    许多AS物理实验要求你将方程转化为 y = mx + c 的形式。例如单摆的周期 T = 2π√(L/g) 可以平方得到 T² = (4π²/g)L,因此作 T² 对 L 的图会得到一条过原点的直线,斜率为 4π²/g。类似地,对于放电电容器,ln V = -t/RC + ln V₀。插入资料2可能提供需要线性化的数据。

    T² = (4π²/g) L

    ln V = – (1/RC) t + ln V₀

    3. Determining Spring Constant from Force-Extension Data | 从力-伸长数据求弹簧常数

    A classic insert shows a table of masses, weights (F = mg), and resultant spring lengths. You must calculate extension (x = new length – original length) and then plot F against x. The gradient of the best-fit line gives the spring constant k. If the spring obeys Hooke’s law, the graph is a straight line through the origin. Be careful to use correct units (N/m).

    经典的插入资料展示质量、重力(F = mg)和对应的弹簧长度表格。你必须计算伸长量(x = 新长度 – 原长),然后作 F 对 x 的图。最佳拟合线的斜率即为弹簧常数 k。如果弹簧遵循胡克定律,则图线为过原点的直线。注意使用正确的单位(N/m)。

    F = k x → k = F / x

    4. Resistivity Determination Using I-V Characteristics | 利用电流-电压特性确定电阻率

    Insert 2 may contain a table of current and voltage readings for a metallic wire. You can calculate resistance R = V/I for each pair and then use ρ = RA/L. Usually, you plot V on the y-axis and I on the x-axis; the gradient is R. After finding R, measure the wire’s length L and diameter d (to get cross-sectional area A = πd²/4). The resistivity is then ρ = R × (πd²/4) / L. Uncertainty in d is critical, as area depends on d².

    插入资料2可能包含金属导线的电流和电压读数表格。你可以计算每组数据的电阻 R = V/I,然后使用 ρ = RA/L。通常以 V 为纵轴、I 为横轴作图,斜率为 R。求得 R 后,测量导线长度 L 和直径 d(截面积 A = πd²/4)。电阻率即为 ρ = R × (πd²/4) / L。直径 d 的不确定度至关重要,因为面积与 d² 相关。

    • R = V/I ; ρ = RA/L

      R = V/I;ρ = RA/L

    • A = πd²/4 ; thus ρ = (Rπd²)/(4L)

      A = πd²/4;因此 ρ = (Rπd²)/(4L)

    5. Young’s Modulus and Stress-Strain Calculations | 杨氏模量与应力-应变计算

    When an insert shows data for a wire under tension, with original length L₀, extension ΔL, cross-sectional area A, and applied force F, you can determine Young’s modulus E. Stress σ = F/A, strain ε = ΔL/L₀, and E = σ/ε. This may be tested by plotting force against extension and using E = (gradient) × (L₀/A). The insert may include a stress-strain graph where the initial linear region’s gradient equals E.

    当插入资料展示一根金属丝拉伸数据,包括原长 L₀、伸长 ΔL、截面积 A 和所施力 F,你可以确定杨氏模量 E。应力 σ = F/A,应变 ε = ΔL/L₀,E = σ/ε。可通过作力-伸长图,利用 E = (斜率) × (L₀/A) 来求。插入资料可能包含应力-应变图,其初始线性区的斜率即为 E。

    E = (F L₀) / (A ΔL)

    6. Refractive Index from Snell’s Law Data | 从斯涅尔定律数据求折射率

    Snell’s law states n₁ sinθ₁ = n₂ sinθ₂. For air to glass, n₁ ≈ 1, so n = sin i / sin r. The insert may list angles of incidence i and refraction r. Plot sin i on the y-axis and sin r on the x-axis; the gradient yields n. Alternatively, use the critical angle θc: n = 1 / sin θc. Always convert angles to degrees and ensure your calculator is in degree mode.

    斯涅尔定律:n₁ sinθ₁ = n₂ sinθ₂。对于空气到玻璃,n₁ ≈ 1,故 n = sin i / sin r。插入资料可能列出入射角 i 和折射角 r。作 sin i 对 sin r 的图,斜率为 n。或者利用临界角 θc:n = 1 / sin θc。务必换算角度为度,并确保计算器处于角度模式。

    n = sin i

    📚 Edexcel Physics: Mastering Circular Motion – Key Concepts & Exam Tips | Edexcel 物理:圆周运动考点精讲

    Circular motion is a core topic in the Edexcel A-level Physics specification (Topic 6: Further Mechanics) and frequently appears in both AS and A2 exam papers. Understanding angular displacement, centripetal acceleration, and the forces that maintain circular paths is essential for tackling problems ranging from conical pendulums to vertical loops. This article distils the key concepts, equations, and common pitfalls, providing a bilingual revision guide to help you master circular motion for Edexcel Physics.

    圆周运动是Edexcel A-level物理大纲(Topic 6: Further Mechanics)的核心内容,在AS和A2考试中反复出现。掌握角位移、向心加速度以及维持圆周路径的力,是解答圆锥摆、竖直回环等问题的关键。本文提炼核心概念、公式和常见误区,以中英双语形式帮你攻克Edexcel物理的圆周运动考点。

    1. Angular Displacement and Radian Measure | 角位移与弧度制

    Angular displacement θ describes the angle through which an object moves along a circular arc. The SI unit is the radian (rad), defined as the angle subtended at the centre of a circle by an arc equal in length to the radius. One complete revolution corresponds to 2π rad, so 1 rad ≈ 57.3°.

    角位移θ描述物体沿圆弧转过的角度,SI单位是弧度(rad)。1弧度定义为弧长等于半径的弧所对的圆心角。一整圈对应2π rad,因此1 rad ≈ 57.3°。

    Radian measure has no dimensions because it is a ratio of two lengths. Its use is essential in A-level equations; without radians, relationships like v = ωr and a = ω²r would require conversion factors. Always ensure angles are in radians when using these formulas, unless a question specifically instructs otherwise.

    弧度制由于是长度比而无量纲。在A-level公式中使用弧度制是必要的;如果不用弧度,v = ωr 和 a = ω²r 等关系将需要引入换算系数。在使用这些公式时,务必确保角度以弧度为单位,除非题目特别说明。

    2. Angular Speed, Period and Frequency | 角速度、周期与频率

    Angular speed ω is the rate of change of angular displacement. For uniform circular motion, where the object sweeps equal angles in equal times, ω = Δθ / Δt. Since one full rotation is 2π rad and time period T is the time for one revolution, we have ω = 2π / T. Frequency f = 1/T, so also ω = 2π f. The unit of ω is rad s&supmin;¹.

    角速度ω是角位移的变化率。对于匀速圆周运动,物体在相等时间内转过相等的角度,ω = Δθ / Δt。由于一整圈为2π rad,周期T为转一圈的时间,故ω = 2π / T。频率f = 1/T,因此也有ω = 2π f。ω的单位为rad s&supmin;¹。

    In uniform circular motion, angular speed is constant, but linear speed is constant only in magnitude; the direction changes continuously. This distinction is fundamental when analysing acceleration and force.

    在匀速圆周运动中,角速度不变,但线速度仅大小不变,方向不断改变。这一区别在分析加速度和力时非常关键。

    3. Relationship Between Linear and Angular Velocity | 线速度与角速度的关系

    The linear speed v (tangential speed) is linked to angular speed by v = ωr, where r is the radius of the circle. This can be derived from the arc length s = rθ by differentiating with respect to time: ds/dt = r dθ/dt, giving v = rω.

    线速度v(切向速率)与角速度的关系为 v = ωr,r是圆周半径。这可以通过弧长公式 s = rθ 对时间求导得出:ds/dt = r dθ/dt,即 v = rω。

    For a rigid, rotating object, all points share the same angular speed ω, but points farther from the axis have a greater linear speed v. This explains why the tip of a fan blade moves faster than points near the hub. In circular motion problems, ensure you use the correct radius for the point under consideration.

    对于刚体旋转,所有点角速度ω相同,但离轴越远的点线速度v越大。这解释了风扇叶片尖端比靠近轴心的点移动更快。在圆周运动问题中,务必使用所分析质点的正确半径。

    4. Centripetal Acceleration | 向心加速度

    Although the magnitude of velocity remains constant in uniform circular motion, the velocity vector changes direction, so there must be an acceleration. This acceleration always points towards the centre of the circle and is called centripetal acceleration. Its magnitude is given by:

    a = v² / r = ω² r

    虽然匀速圆周运动中速度大小不变,但速度方向改变,因此必定存在加速度。该加速度始终指向圆心,称为向心加速度。其大小为:a = v² / r = ω² r。

    The direction can be justified by considering that
