Momentum is a vector quantity, meaning it has both magnitude and direction. In SI units, mass is in kilograms (kg) and velocity in metres per second (m s⁻¹), so momentum has units kg m s⁻¹. The direction of the momentum vector is the same as the direction of the velocity.

2. Definition of Impulse | 冲量的定义

Impulse quantifies the effect of a force applied over a time interval. Impulse is also a vector and shares the same SI unit as momentum: N s, which is equivalent to kg m s⁻¹.
